Now...on with the countdown!

100. Day's alternative Über October (150+ pages) made it onto the Top-25 list 3 times in 2003.

    This comment contains spoilers.
This was a fantastic story. It was very well written and it had me until the very end. The characterization was great. I have to say though, I couldn't stand Paige. I think she was a bit of a lousy friend. Sort of reminded me of the phrase 'misery loves company' at times. Once again though, great story. - Anonymous May 25th, 2003

Loved this story.I thought the characters were very well rounded, but I couldn't find part 8 to finish reading it.Any suggestions? - jbamazon Jan 13th, 2003

Wow! This story is wonderful!!!! The characters Terri, a teenage and
Sarah, a more old sophisticated and sexy woman, have a relationship
tumultuous, hot, passionate, to writer with rare talent and preciosity.

98. Larisa's alternative Über The Phantom (90 pages) appeared 5 times on the list including 1 week at #1.
For the past two weeks, Branson Mahoney had been trying to catch the person who had been destroying equipment, materials and causing her building project to come to a screeching halt. Now with the backers breathing down her neck and her employees ready to quit, she took it into her own hands to find the culprit. Callaway J. Kuhrt made her way towards the trailer to make sure that no one was sleeping inside. Over the past two weeks, she had watched from a distance and then come into the site under the cover of darkness. What will happen these two finally met up? They will change each other forever, and teach everyone a thing or two about about what women can do. ;-) A fun and infirmative read!
97. C. E. Gray's alternative Über Single Tear (15 pages) placed 2 times on our Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.
This is a beautifully written poignantly sad alternative tale of love that will strike a cord and leave an imprint in each person that reads it. Have plenty of tissues handy...

A short ditty about a train ride that turns out to be more than Katrina bargained for. The intensity of two strangers who have not even officially met, flares into a passion of desires both need to quench.
WOW!!! What a completely HOT RIDE!!! Alex the Cat has, most definitely, put the ELVEVATED in this elevated train adventure!!! A scintillatingly sexy tale, with a mysterious twist at the end...ah, ah, ah...gots ta' read to find out!!! Thanks, Alex, for sharing more of your fabulous talent with all of us!!! - Michelle May 26th, 2003
95. Debbie Dee's alternative Über Woman of My Dreams (16 pages) was listed 5 times in the Top-25 as well as 1 week at #2.

What a great story, Debbie Dee. I enjoyed the chemistry between Jamie and Casey and the plot was excellent. Thank you very much for a good read. Keep up with the wonderful work. - Red Hope Sep 20th, 2003

94. Larisa's alternative Über Gear Heads (53 pages) spent 1 week on the Top-25 in 2003, and 2 weeks in 2002 finishing in 62nd place that year.
When Morigan takes flight in her firebird and lands in a muddy cornfield, a Good Samaritan comes along and calls the nearest towing service. When the flatbed shows up to retrieve her car, she is thrown into a completely different world. Her world changes more when she finds out that the garage that will be fixing her car is owned and run by a group of very weird women. The head mechanic Mike, turns out to be a six foot of blue-eyed woman that steals her breath away.
I was bored one weekend and i came across this story and it's sequel. I fell in love with it right away. For an uber it really shows Xena's and Gabrielle's personalities. If you find time I suggest you read this story. Larisa I'm still waiting for a third part to this series. Please give me another story. Always keep up the good work Larisa. - Katherine B. Oct 2nd, 2003
93. Larisa's alternative Über Gears Heads Doing Time (46 pages) appeared 3 times on the Top-25 list.
Mike, Morigan, Drake, and Stacey, all the "Gear Heads" we've come to know and love, are back in this hilarious sequel, revolving around Drake's black-sheep cousin Jack, her partner Oink, and a mysterious ring of stolen cars. Jack soon becomes one of the gang, moving in lock, stock and pint-sized guard dog, Jessica, who attaches herself to the leg of anyone who's insensitive enough to take issue with her size. It appears everyone has a secret, this time around, but, remember, jumping to conclusions can be counter-productive, in Larisa's world, so, just sit, back, laugh hysterically, eat some blue food, and enjoy the ride!
This story, like its predecessor, is great! The charm of the piece comes from the fact that the characters sound just like they would in real life! Goodness the accent affectations and off-the-wall grammar just scream Southern, y'all! ;-) They are ALL insane, and you just can't wait to see what they do next! Keep them coming up with new antics Larisa, and thanks for the tears from laughter! - Anastacia13 May 5th, 2003

I think the idea for the story was really good, but it needed some grammatical work big time. There were tons of run on sentences and the words 'I seen...' were used throughout instead of 'I saw...'. I don't mean to sound rude, but it made the characters sound dumb. Also, many times you couldn't tell where one scene ended and another began. Some sort of page break would have been very helpful. Again, it was a good idea for a story, but all the grammer problems made it a bad read. - Anonymous May 5th, 2003
92. Roo's alternative Über Slow Burn (23 pages in 3 parts - unfinished) appeared 6 times on the Top-25 list.
This, the sequel to 'Home Fires,' takes the original uber girls to a new level of domesticity, living in a brownstone in Georgetown in January of 1941. Janice rubs elbows with FDR, while Mel works as an assistant professor of "somethin' or other" at the university. However, all is not beer and skittles...read on.
I've been sitting here, reading over previous comments about Slow Burn and can add my voice to those who call it "rich", "passionate", "witty", "literate". I haven't a clue what the hell "Bocce Balls Batman!" means, but it comes off sounding like a compliment. I read the first chapters of this story and after first registering my disappointment that more chapters are not yet available, I have to say I am enjoying the writer's meandering path to the heart of the story. That's a little misleading. I think the story has many hearts, many paths, and each one is delicately written, intricately explored. Chapters 1 through 7 are just the beginning of what is shaping up to be a first class read. - Bushwhacker Feb 26th, 2003

Bocce Balls, Batman! I went in search of this story on the recommendation of a friend. Seven chapters into it I am salivating for more of this rich, passionate and literate work. If you haven't read what there is of this story, you are missing something my friends! - HeavyB Jan 28th, 2003

Ditto! You need asbestos gloves to handle Chap. 6! The bard is a relatively new find for me and whatta treasure. More, bard! More! - M&JFan4ever Jan 24th, 2003

This bard, in my opinion, is on a par with the Great Vivian Darkbloom, and that is saying something. The first seven chapters of this story ring with originality and wit, and Chapter 6? well, Chapter 6 smokes! My one negative comment might be the lack of a recent update. - SuzieQ Jan 23rd, 2003
91. Zee's alternative Über Airwaves (30 pages) finished 3 times on the Top-25 list in 2003, and 3 times in 2002 earning this tale a 27th place finish that year.

    Very funny - Anonymous Dec 14th, 2003

Wicked cool story, check it out if you crave characters with originality and comic pranks and banter. Has the feel of something Larisa might write and well...who doesn't like Larisa? - Stephanie Apr 24th, 2003
90. Shadylady's alternative Über My Best Friend (4 pages) appeared for 2 weeks on our Top-25 list.
Here's a sweet tale of discovery and love that's sure to make you smile!
Nice to read a good love store without having sex as part of the plot. Would recommend to anyone who wants to read a sweet story. - Rachel Sep 24th, 2003

Haven't we all been insecure when we are faced with new love. Shadylady has captured the doubt and indecision all of us have felt at one time or another. What a refreshing love story. - enchantress Sep 17th, 2003

Arrrrgh Help! I've gotten to part 5 (the conclusion) of this super story but it cuts off after a page. Where can I find the rest?? - Stephanie Jun 25th, 2003
87. Dragonjuls (JM Dragon)'s alternative Über Improbable Protector (77 pages) made it onto the Top-25 list 3 times.

Improbable Protector and its 2 sequels is simply a wonderful trilogy with great characters, romance, mystery & suspense written with much care & attention to development of plot & characters you will just love. Story moves around in places,& time with a realistic patience given to following characters progression into a warm, deep relationship. I have read many of JDragons stories and could not just pick one to recommend. But IP 1,2,& 3 is something I will read again & love it just as much as the first time.

86. Ri's alternative Über Behind the Black Cloud (100 pages) appeared only 1 time in 2003, but was listed 5 times in 2002 for an 11th place finish that year.
In this romantic Uber, Rosie had only been at the job for a very short time and she was doing well as junior in accountant in the prestigious accounting firm. In prior positions she always fit in easily with most of the staff. This time she felt so alone. It was getting to be a desperate situation and Rosie really had no idea how to handle it any more. In steps a tall, dark-haired stanger with warm blue eyes whom she meets at Starbucks, who just happens to be the one person that could help.
I loved this romantic story. It is one that you never knew what was going to happen next and are surprised by what does. I really loved the charachters they lead you on a gentle fun adventure! - Petra Oct 13th, 2003

I started this story just because I wanted a sweet love story. It is but I was caught up in the twists and surprises too. I loved the charachters and felt very much a part of the action. I was really charmed by this tale. - Yvette Mar 11th, 2003

I love this story. It seems to go one way and then all of the sudden it goes another. I also adored the two main charachters. It gave me what I wanted a wonderful way to relax after a hard days work. Thanks Ri - Janet Jan 15th, 2003

this was such a lovely romantic story. I love how sweet the charachters are and I couldn't wait to find out how the story ended. It was such fun ending I hope Ri writes more of it - Pip Sep 27th, 2002
85. Wizzy's & T. Stratton's alternative Über The Perfect Wave (24 pages)

84. Darkenedkarma's alternative Über Believe (29 pages) spent 5 week on the Top-25 list.

even for a non believer this story is very moving. - Anonymous Aug 10th, 2003

Wonderful story, very moving. I will definitely read this again. - Jen Jan 15th, 2003

Excellent read. A powerful story, the emotions jump right off the page. I thought it was wonderful. - Anonymous Jan 14th, 2003

My second posted reading of the day, and just as nice as the first. This piece has emotion and depth. I loved the line "Burning her image into her mind to hold onto for a lifetime." What a thought. Good read.
    - Constance D. Jan 9th, 2003

This was very good. Well written, emotionally powerful. An all around great read. I highly recommend this to everyone.
    - Cheryl Jan 8th, 2003

This is a short story that is everything I've come to expect from this bard. It's packed with emotion and action. It's a story that draws you in and doesn't let you go until the end. Personally I didn't want it to end. This is a must read. - Tara Jan 4th, 2003

Wow. An Amazing story. I admit to not recognizing the author, so I read because it was new and short (less than 50 pages). I was greatly surprised and wonderfully amazed at the depth and care, and the wonder the story created. Two memorable characters on both heaven and earth. I highly recommend this. - Lisa Jan 4th, 2003
83. Larisa's alternative Über Crash Course (42 pages) appeared at #1 for 1 week and was listed 6 times overall in 2003.
Tall, blue-eyed Largo Coogan, was having her first weekend off in weeks and she planned on spending it fishing at the Shenandoah River. Little did she know that she would run into Garrison Dexter...both literally and figurately. The little blonde would turn her world upside down and then some.
Winner of the Intrepid Story Challenge, June 2003. Larisa has managed once again to totally ambush us with a great story. My recommendation to you is…JUST READ IT! - SammyLee Jul 18th, 2003

Sometimes fate has to hit you between the eyes to get your attention. Garrison Dexter and Largo Coogan certainly find this to be the case in this hilarious Larisa tale. Add to that a crazy cousin complete with the voices in her head and costumes to match, and some rather unorthodox breast enhancements, and you have another winner!!! You go, Larisa!!! - Michelle Jun 23rd, 2003
82. J.A. Bard's alternative Über Sunrise II: Settling Down (137 pages) spent 2 weeks on the list including 1 week at #2.   This is the sequel to Assignment: Sunrise (488 pages).

Elizabeth finds Alex's job taking her away too much for them to explore their relationship to the next stage, and finds an outlet for her need to have a meaningful relationship, with geese, a dog, a mama cat and kittens. Soon though, the two will have to work out their reluctance to be intimate on a consistent basis.

I fell in love with the characters the moment I started reading this story. I hope to read more about them in the near future! - Jamers Nov 14th, 2003

This story was wonderful. A splendid combination of loving warmth and incandescant heat. I look forward to more (a story, it can be a small one, about Angel and Ellie, the younger(s), would be great.) Thanks for the wonderful bit of prose. - Nyc Mar 7th, 2003

Words can't do justice on how great this story was. One hell of a tale here. - Lar Mar 4th, 2003

All I can say is! "Awesome!" - GabBard Feb 13th, 2003

Was looking at the top 25 and this caught my eye too. The story had me from start to end on one powerful ride. Even though it was in a different verse, it still felt like Gabrielle and Xena and was interesting to see roles reversed and how they both handled it. Great story and will read again and again. This is one to save to your harddrive. - Jenny Feb 12th, 2003

    Best kick a** Conqueror!

    - KT Feb 8th, 2003

It took me a few days to complete this story. I must say it's original in several ways. It had me going 'oh my' in many areas. For instance, when the battle was over and you expect the cliche-ish 'battle lust' it was refreshing to see Gabrielle reading poetry and looking into the night air. This was addictive to read. One thing that was lacking I felt was the ending. That was not in sync with the rest of the tale, but I still recommend this story very much. Calli's cover was outstanding.

My disliking for Conqueror's was great. Same ole same ole. Until a friend said I should read this one. Totally different in many ways. Even though Gabrielle was the Conqueror it still felt like the bard and it was nice to see Xena more human. Very good and I highly recommend this story. - Kathy Feb 3rd, 2003

This is one of the absolute best of the Conqueror stories that I've read. The freshness comes from Gabrielle being the conqueror in charge. Watching her do everything that Xena did in her conquering days, but doing them better, well, that just proves once again that thinking before acting, gets you more :) Seeing all of the familiar faces of the Xenaverse pop up, brought a wave of nostalgia through me while reading this tale. I highly recommend this story! - Di Bauden Feb 1st, 2003

This was one wild read. Have Gabrielle being the Conqueror and Xena trying to find a way to bring her back? Wow. It's nice to have many familiar faces in this story too. Read it and couldn't stop until now 1am. Should put spoiler saying you'll not stop reading until finished. - jeni Jan 31st, 2003

I really enjoyed the twist in this Conqueror story..Having Gabrielle be the conqueror and having Xena trying to get through to her was fabulous,It makes me wish that TPTB had come up with this idea for an episode..it would have rocked! Keep up the good work Bards.. ;) - jbamazon Jan 29th, 2003

The is a wickly killer story! Had me from beginning to end!

    Diane - diane Jan 27th, 2003

I've read nearly every Conqueror out there and this one is 'the' best. It's not like all the rest which was refreshing to read. Thanks to the bards who wrote it. - Anonymous Jan 27th, 2003

74. KG MacGregor's alternative Über I Never Knew (43 pages) spent 2 weeks on the Top-25.

Well, after reading this J&M fanfiction, I certainly had to throw my two cents of comments into the pile. I ain't read a J&M fanfiction in a few nor really seen any. MacGregor weaves an awesome plot and manages to throw some Amazons into it all. She also brought up a huge social standard issue during the 1940's that you don't see in many J&M fanfictions. Needless to say, this J&M story hit my favorite list! Excellent fanfiction. - Red Hope Jul 3rd, 2003

Before I actually let you all know how wonderfully written this Mel and Janice story is, I would like to point out that this bard is actually KG MacGregor not KC MacGregor. This is the same KG MacGregor that gave us the fantastic Alternative Uber stories Shaken the sequal Stirred and part 3 Strained. These are some of the best written fan fiction stories on the internet bar none. I would recommend this bard for whatever story she wishes to grace our Universe with, but I hope the little name typo can get fixed so that people will know that Ms. MacGregor has other great stories for everyone to sink their teeth into. I would read the phone book if KG MacGregor was the author of it. I give this Bard and all of her incredibly well written stories a 10 star rating! - Maria Dec 3rd, 2002

Really loved this new Mel and Janice story - ALOT! KG nailed the characterizations, and there was a terrific slant to this story which I don't recall being brought up in other M/J FF. And who can fault a story with Amazons in it? KG showing her stuff quite well outside of the Uber world, and I welcome the momentary change. Great job! - Anonymous Dec 3rd, 2002
73. Lena's alternative Über The Gardener (13 pages) spent 2 week on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.
This is a mature subject matter story about love and acceptance.
Wow!!! You simply have to read this story...no doubt about it...you just have to!!! It is one of the single-most beautifully written and achingly passionate stories I have ever read. Anyone who has ever felt shunned by the world, because of who they are or what they look like, will feel freedom, acceptance, and hope, as they read this tender tale. - Michelle Oct 22nd, 2003
72. Ri's alternative Über Into Each Life (45 pages) spent 2 weeks on the Top-25 list.
Sandra Peterson was the most sought after OBGYN in her field. She had a 0-mortality rate and her specialty was helping older woman achieve their dream of motherhood. Enter beautiful-petite -blonde-in-a-Bill-Blass-business suit by the name of Amanda Mandsen, hospital administrator. And so begins more than a beautiful friendship.
this was a very special story. I think the love of family is such a wonderous part of tale. I love Sandy and Mandy I hope there is more to come of this loving pair. - Anonymous Aug 26th, 2003
71. Larisa's alternative Über Day Walker (55 pages) finished only 1 time on the Top-25 list in 2003, but finished 3 times in 2002 for a 6th place finish that year.
Get ready to meet Memphis Belle and Luka and go Cajun in this tasty tale by the Mistress of Maybem and Weird Relatives! You will re-write what you know about vampires and roll on the floor laughing in this very funny and sometimes violent gem set in Mardi Gras country, where romance...ahh...Sprouts, and the characters are out of this world...literally! ;-)
Kudos to Larisa!!!! I can't wait for Larisa's next story. It seems like it has been weeks since this author has posted any new stories. I feel the main component of her stories is her ability to make the characters three-dimensional. I also appreciate that the dialogue in her stories flow giving depth to the characters, even the bizarre characters that she utilizes for comedy relief. A story that really captured my interest was "Day Walker". I'd like to know if Larisa plans to write a sequel to "Day Walker"? Maybe the new antithesis can be demons or Lupines. Thanks Larisa!

Are you afraid of vampires?...well don't be with Fang and friends around. Another HIT from Larisa. I'm still laughing and very warm with this latest installment. Read it and you'll see why. Loved it! - NLW Dec 12th, 2002

Good God, i havent laughed so hard (or needed a bucket of ice soo badly) in a LONG time! This is a great story! both for the plot and the nutso characters! - Wind Dec 10th, 2002

I've come to the conclusion that Larisa should be certified as a nut case. She has the strangest characters in her stories and IT WORKS! I love the little ones Sprout and Lia! She may have been MIA for a while but she came back with a WINNER! I laughed until I couldn't breathe, keep up the great work. - Dancer Dec 10th, 2002

One word...Sprout!!! This newest offering from Larisa had my partner rolling on the floor and the dog questioning our sanity we laughed so much. ;-) To the author: Fangs for the memories! (you may gag at that or write another story whichever you choose.) - Kay Dec 5th, 2002

Since Larisa hasn't written in a while, she has definately came out with something worth the wait. A DAMNED good story if I say so myself. One that I actually have read twice. The characters are so funny and every bit as perverted as the ones in her other stories. Good reading and recommend it to anyone who needs a good laugh. Good job Larisa and keep up the good work!! ^_^ - Anonymous Dec 4th, 2002
70. DS Bauden's alternative Über My Guardian, My Friend (14 pages) appeared 2 times on the Top-25 list including one week at #1.
Here's a nice little tale with spice to warm you up about finding a 'knight in shinning' armor, or as another reader put it, a 'protective gentlebutch,' when you really need one. As Amy finds out when Alex comes to her rescue in more ways than one in this inventive and innovative tale by DS Bauden!
I can only say...GOD OH Mamma...Do I want a story like this happening in my life..Jummy...ok Gyrls Showe it is for me..I need it badly after this one..He HE - Keegan Conner Apr 8th, 2003

Wow!!! Go, DS!!! I have been a proud member of The Baudom for quite sometime now, and am a confirmed, for life, DS Bauden fan, so trust me, when I say, that DS has "topped" herself in this one!!! Sorry, couldn't resist the bad "butch" joke...heh...Anywho, if you enjoy a soft, sexy, gentle butch, stepping in to rescue a sweet lady fair in distress, you'll love this story!!! It touched my heart in ways nothing else I've read, and I've read A LOT, ever has, so thank you DS, from the bottom of my li'l ole "bottom" heart!!! Heh!!! Oh yes, and I, too, would like another, please, ma'am!!! - Michelle Apr 1st, 2003

As usual, an exceptional piece written by one of my favorite bards. Ms. Bauden portrays the protective gentlebutch perfectly. Her affection and esteem for butches everywhere is evident. This is a well-written, sexy, touching story. I sincerely hope D.S writes a sequel. These are great characters and I would love to see more of them. Fantastic work! I recommend highly. - S. Lee Mar 31st, 2003
69. Ri's alternative Über Growing Pains (27 pages) was listed 3 times on our Top-25 including one week at #2.
In this sequel to 'The Ghost,' Veba continues to improve her developmental progress as her relationship with Rickie continues to blossom. While helping out a client, Rickie gets in over her head and it's up to Veba's incredible reflexes to save the day.
This was something that I think it is really hard to do. It is a very good sequel to an excellent story. I really loved it, I think Veba is one of the most interesting charachters in the Xenaverse and it is wonderful to watch her develop. The love bond between her and Rickie is very beautiful and it was great to see Dory happy too! - Ann Oct 28th, 2003

    This comment contains spoilers.
I think its fantastic to watch Veba become more her self and Rickie guiding her in her own gentle way. Its fun to see what Veba reads but the part that really got to me was when Rickie got hurt and how Veba reacted that was amazing!!!! - Anonymous Aug 29th, 2003

I loved this sequel but it made me hungry for more. I loved watching Veba grow and learn. I can't wait to read the next installment to find out what happend next. Um, when are you posting it Ri? - Tani Jul 18th, 2003

This was very well done because you can see Veba grow but she didn't get a miracle cure and speak like she wanted right away. Ri even had a part where she went backwards. Also it was nice to watch how much of a family the three women became in this next part. I love it. Thank you. - Monti Apr 22nd, 2003

What a wonderful sequel, I love watching Veba grow and Rickie is wonderful and warm. Its a very special love story.

    - Gracie Mar 7th, 2003

It was soooo great to read about Rickie and Veba. I am just so drawn to Veba, its a great sequel I hope Ri writes more. - Niki Jan 31st, 2003
68. Larisa's alternative Über Body Parts (58 pages) made it onto the Top-25 list 2 times in 2003, and 9 times in 2002 including 1 week at #1 for a 4th place finish that year.
Detective Xepher Sallano, trying to solve what appear to be serial murders, keeps running into dead ends...literally. Then the Medical Examiner dies in the midst of the inverstigation, and his replacement is makes Sallano see red. It's hate at first sight for Chief Medical Examiner Brianna Meadows, too. Or is it? As the murders get more gruesome, Detective and ME find themselves involved...in more ways than one. This is another of Larisas' gripping tales with unconventional characters, laughs, love and gore, that will keep you spellbound.
I agree, there is gore galore but I like a story with grit so I was interested right away. I just read it in it's entirety, it's simply wonderful. I can see a Bone Collector 2 with Angelina here ... or is that wishful thinking? It would be a shame if you bypassed it simply because the graphic scenes may disturb you for it's got one of my highest ticks of approval. - Corbeau's Voyager Dec 1st, 2003

Xepher? Guess those "X" names are kinda hard to come by, huh? Once I got past that, and the fact that parts of it are REALLY gory, I quite enjoyed it. - Mich Sep 14th, 2002
67. Larisa's alternative Über Street People (32 pages) snared a #1 finish and was listed twice overall on our Top-25.
Jocelyn O'Shannon, Social Services, has just transferred from New York to D.C., where she's hoping to do more good. Surprising her assistant, she's a hands-on supervison and goes along to lend a hand at the soup kitchen as soon as she's been by the office. It's there that her steely blue eyes meet warm green eyes that will set her on a path she never thought she'd be on. Another winner by Larisa!
This tale has so many surprizes packed inside, that reading it is like digging under the tree on Christmas morning! It's chocked full of Larisa's own unique brand of side-splitting humor, charming characters, and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat! Thanks, once again, Larisa, I needed that! - Michelle Jan 22nd, 2003
66. Mayhem Incarnate's alternative Über Jones (4 pages) appeared for 3 weeks including 1 week at #1.

65. C.E. Gray's alternative Über Blue Fire (150+ pages) appeared only once this year, but finished on the Top-25 list 8 times in 2002 included 1 week at #1 for a 20th place finish that year.
In the year 1868, a time known for most Americans' fierce prejudices against all people not of the same heritage, a circumstance of pure chance brings a white woman and an Indian woman together. She is called Blue Fire; an apache warrior destined to somehow make a difference for her tribe. Everything tells her not to trust the white that has taken her in, and yet her heart gives her no other choice. Often torn between the ways of the white man and the ways of her ancestors, she struggles to satisfy both the calling of her soul and the calling of her people. A strong warrior, stubborn and proud, loyal to those she deems friends, nothing but danger to those who would dare cross her…this is her story.
64. Alex Tryst's alternative Über Persistence (123 pages) was a 6 time finisher on our Top-25 list.

This was the first story I read by Alex Tryst, woo what a read.
Love the twists and turns Alex weaves throughout all her stories - yep you guessed it since reading this one have read all her works, each and every one written in her very readable, entertaining style. Cannot wait for the next one.
    - Anonymous May 23rd, 2003

I found this to be right up there with the best of the top stories. I liked that the writer didn't stay in what we consider normal range of writing and love. I found it refreshing to find love no matter the age difference. You will find this a good read if you will only open yourself up to the possibilities offered. - Claudia Henry Jan 7th, 2003

This book is alluring within the scope of fiction and yet potentially perverse in terms of reality. The author not only "borrows" the name of one of the characters from Vladimir Nabokov's "Lolita", she seems to have "borrowed" the story as well. However unlike the classic novel, it is difficult as best to find fault with our older main character, Drew, who is such an ethical, caring person in all other facets of her life that it is hard to detest her for her choices throughout the piece. There is also a magnetism of the younger character, Lola, that captures you from almost the beginning. She is cunning and sensuous for a woman/child her age. I find that the anger and frustration people (and my own) may feel about this piece is not aimed at the book itself but rather their own reaction to it, because it tests the foundations of one's beliefs. What is right and what is wrong is not as clearly defined in this piece as some may like. It pushes the envelope so to speak, because in a way you want the main characters to find love in each other, and yet the idea of two people with such an age difference being in a relationship is tough to accept. This is a must read even if it merely to see an unusual and twisted plot unfold. - Anonymous Jan 3rd, 2003
63. Sharon Smith's alternative Über Into The Dark (252 pages) finished 7 times on the Top-25 list in 2003, and 6 times in 2002 for a 33rd place finish that year.

What a great story. These characters are so well written and developed. The story line was really intereting as well. I highly recommend it. - Erica Nov 7th, 2003

I can't say enough about this story. It was excelent. I found it hard to put down.It was a very good read.
I'm going to read another story by the same bard.If I had to rate this story on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 10 plus.Loved it, Loved it, loved it !!!! - Lilly Dec 11th, 2002

Excellent story and charactors. Very well written and keeps you reading. One for a sunday afternoon highly recommended not to be missed. - Daydreams Nov 23rd, 2002
62. Larisa's alternative Über Rogue Warrior (51 pages) appear on the list 5 times, including one week at #1.

What a fabulous tale!!! Cut from the cloth of the everyday working woman's life, Larisa has spun another tale filled with hilarious antics that will raise the lowest spirit, combined with heart-warming romance. You'll have to read this tale to see all Rogue and Turner go through to be together, and to see if they make it. Oh, go ahead, you know you want to...all your friends are doing it...it'll make you feel good...heh. Thanks, Larisa...I needed that!!! - Michelle Nov 26th, 2003
61. Alex the Cat's alternative Über An Empath's Detective (46 pages) finished on our Top-25 list 2 times including 1 week at #2.

Detective A. Zachary and Kerry Longworth meet under the most difficult of circumstances, and find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other. Exploring these feelings proves difficult, however, as life insists on throwing them curve after curve. I found myself glued to the end of my seat right to the end of this action-packed tale. What a ride!!! Alex the Cat has done it again...managed to combine some of the hottest sex scenes in the Uber world, with an absolutely fabulous story-line. Thanks for sharing it with all of us, Alex!!! - Michelle Oct 23rd, 2003
60. Nyrdgyrl's alternative Über The Wager (20 pages) finished 5 times on the list, including 1 week at #2.
A St. Patty's tale to tickle your fancy!
59. Alex Tryst's alternative Über Georgia On My Mind (146 pages) finished on the Top-25 list 4 times.  This is a sequel to Love In Photographs.
New York attorney Blake Erwin journeys to Georgia to settle her late great aunt's estate. There she meets the hometown beauty queen with whom she becomes friends. However is the little blonde all she seems? Mayhem ensues when the small woman's husband, her father, and the Ku Klux Klan decide the attorney is a little too close to their most prized commodity. Will Blake survive Georgia and make it back to New York? Appearances from the cast of "Love in Photographs" included.
Yet another fine story from a bard who just seems to get better and better as each tale unfolds.
Love in photographs was my favourite story, until this little gem came along.
Alex Tryst has certainly a talented way with words, love the way she develops a plot, throws some rather unexpected twists and turns to the reader, never mind the, will they, won't they in her stories. A fine piece of work, very skilled in its attempt to portray the southern accent, that I am glad to say works well.
Cannot wait to read her new story, just posted - Stick to the Script. A Must Read.
    - Del Jun 6th, 2003

I adored this piece! It was a super "unofficial" sequel to Love in Photographs. Great characters and a great story line! Good job on the southern accent as well. A must read. - Anonymous Mar 31st, 2003

I just read this the other night. After reading Love in Photographs..I just had to read this one. It left you wanting more hanging on the edge of a cliff wanting to hear more about Georgia and Blake. After Blake is hurt and Torrance takes her picture...that really touched me. Great job to the author on another awesome tale. I hope to read more soon :) - Caden Mar 9th, 2003

    This comment contains spoilers.
Ms. Tryst seems to get better with every story. This is a pretty good read with a chance to see Torrance (drool) from "Love in Photographs" again. The strip club scene's "climatic" end makes this story worth the price of admittance. - Kaye Mar 6th, 2003

"Love in Photographs" was my favorite story from this author, but now I have a new one! I absolutely adored the way the new characters were blended with the ones from "Love in Photographs". Readers get a chance to see new relationships develop while enjoying some old favorites! A must read for any fan of Alex Tryst! She's right though in her disclaimer in my opinion. Would be best enjoyed after reading "Love in Photographs" first. - Anonymous Mar 5th, 2003
58. Larisa's alternative Über Rhapsody's Silver Lining (95 pages) finished only once on the Top-25 list this year.
"Every cloud has a sliver lining," or so the saying goes. Lady Rhapsody J. Beaumont is about to test that theory! After disembarking from her Mercedes sports car, in front of the racing stables her late brother, Roger, left her, she immediately finds a pile of muck pillowing one of her expensive Italian pumps, definitely starting her undertaking off on the wrong foot, in more ways than one. Add in the surly antice of her uncommunicative groom, Ray Rawlings, fondly known as Piglet by the stable manager, Salvatore, and Rhapsody's clouds seem never ending. However, as in most of Larisa's tales, things are not merely what they seem, and Rhapsody discovers a whole new world as she allows herself to open up to the new possibilites surrounding her. Queens, Kiwis, barristers, FBI Agents, saboteurs, crazies, inmates, would-be assasins, and, of course, a goat, all conspire to fill this tale with intrigue, romance and absolutely hilarious antics that will have you guffawing, while perched on the edge of your seat to see how it all turns out. Bravo, Larisa! You've done it, again!
You know you're in Larisa's world when someone is out in a field wrestling a goat, right off the bat, when the crazies are actually sane, and the sane are all crazier than loons, when the most unlikely candidates find themselves struck with Cupid's arrows, and when brawling Amazon cousins come barreling out of the woodwork to save the day! "Rhapsody's Silver Lining" will have you perched on the edge of your seat, chewing your fingernails, all the while laughing till tears are rolling down your cheeks! All in all, a triple E-ticket ride! - Michelle Jan 17th, 2003
57. Erin O'Rielly's alternative Über Possibilities (80 pages) gathered enough readers to make it onto the Top-25 list 6 times.
Two worlds are about to collide. Will the outcome be nothing more than a learning experience or will it alter both lives forever? Anything is possible.
One of those stories that tell the tale simply but you want more, thankfully there will be more. Great start! - Anonymous Feb 4th, 2003
56. Lynn Ames's alternative Über The Price of Fame (227 pages) appeared on the Top-25 list 7 times.
What is the price of fame? For television news anchor and overnight national phenomenon Katherine Kyle the cost just might be everything. For Time magazine reporter Jamison Parker, the price could be the other half of her soul. Follow Kate and Jay as their lives intertwine, leading them on a journey to love and happiness, until fate and fame threaten to tear them apart.
This is an amazing story! I am so looking forward to a sequel! - Jennifer Nov 20th, 2003

What a wonderful story Lynn Ames has shared with us. The characters of Kate and Jay are so well drawn you feel you know them. This is a great romantic tale that sweeps you along for an amazing ride. I couldn't stop reading. - EG Sep 4th, 2003

This was an absolute great story. Once I started I couldn't stop reading it. Because I'm a hopeless romantic, this story was right up my alley. To have your own hero is a wonderful thing. - Joy Sep 4th, 2003

This was a fantastic story. I was almost late to work, because I could not stop reading it. Lynn Ames offers a well written tale with wonderfully fleshed out characters. You will wish they were your friends. Kate and Jay are the cutest couple to come along in a while.  I recommend this story to anyone looking for romance, angst, action, and just a good story to read. - Toni Sep 4th, 2003

Have you ever read a story that you could not put down. Well this one is one of those. I loved every minute of it and will reread it again, but next time I will make sure I start early enough. Kate and Jay are great for one another and when you read it you will see the connection. I cannot wait to read more from this bard. FANTASTIC!! - T. Stratton Sep 3rd, 2003

Enjoyed the story.  Must be hard to try to live a normal life in the public eye.  Kate and Jay are compelling characters. I epecially enjoyed Fred-can he come over to play?  - Kate Lee Sep 3rd, 2003

The Price of Fame is a poignant page-turner that kept me up all night reading! Kate & Jay are well-developed, real life characters with whom I fell madly in love. The plot has many twists and turns and the author clearly knows how to spin a yarn. I can't wait for the sequel!! - Anonymous Sep 3rd, 2003
55. C.E. Gray's alternative Über Spin The Bottle (150+ pages) finished 6 times on the Top-25 list.

I happened upon this story last night, started reading it and was instantly drawn in. Finished the rest of it this morning along with a cup of coffee. What a delightful way to spend a Sunday morning. Thank you C.E. Gray for such a wonderful piece of work. Keep up the great job! - Ambrosia Mar 30th, 2003

I'm glad to see that a wonderful author has been added to your reviews page. C.E Gray is by far my favorite author, and I'm always glad when she posts new material. Spin The Bottle is probably my favorite peice of work by C.E. and that's because I can relate to the two characters. Being high school kids, and me being a senior, it's easy to relate. Thank you to C.E for a wonderful story...:) - Amber Apr 18th, 2002
54. Larisa's alternative Über Buried Prejudices (93 pages) spent 2 weeks on the Top-25 list in 2003 and was the Story Of The Year in 2002 with a #1 finish as well as being listed 10 times that year on the list.
FBI Director Jericho Chamaune has a hobby of trying to solve the cases of missing women dating back ten years of more. One day her assistant director Stan gives her yet another folder of a missing woman. Like several others, she is a college student from Texas. In all the time she has been working the case, they have yet to find any sign of the missing women. When she placed the picture of the latest missing young woman on her wall, she could not tear her eyes away from the green eyes looking back at her. One day a friend working at the nearby hospital calls her. A woman has been found lying beside a road and brought to the emergency room for treatment. At her first sight of the woman's haunted green eyes, Jericho knows that this is the latest missing woman.
I must say that this story is one of her best. I loved it so much I have it bookmarked. - Anonymous May 16th, 2003

I’ve just ‘discovered’ Larisa’s stories. Buried Prejudices was fantastic, and I wan’t more, more, more!!!! - Anonymous Dec 11th, 2002

As with all of Larisa's stories, she grabs your undivided attention at the onset and you find you can't stop until the last sentence has been read. All her stories contain the standard beginning, middle, and end...but in between, they're packed with enough action and romance to make your reading a delighful pleasure. - ~M~ Jun 17th, 2002

I thoroughly enjoyed Buried Prejudices and the rest of your stories. I don't know why I've never read them before, but each new story is like a fine wine - to be savored. - Judy Jun 13th, 2002
53. Alex Tryst's alternative Über The One (37 pages) never quite managed a Top-25 finish but still did well enough to place in the Top-100 this year.

52. Alex the Cat's alternative Über Apartment for Rent (28 pages) spent 4 weeks on the list including 1 week at #1.
Sam has been struggling to do a good job as a landlord. Then one day a stranger comes along and changes everything. Sam discovers herself, and Mike discovers that loneliness does not have to be an option.
Every now and then you run across a story that plays like a movie reel in your mind while reading..this one did it for me. I simply love the story line and the development of characters in such a short story(hint)was very well done. I kept wishing that it would go on and on... Anyway you must read this story by Alex the Cat. Butch/Femme stories are really a turn on and this does the genre justice. Enjoy and please keep this author inspired!! - Anonymous Jun 12th, 2003

This was a great piece. I loved it! Great pace for a short story. Well worth the time to read. - Alex Tryst Jun 11th, 2003

Who knew finding the right apartment could change your whole life? For Sam, finding a renter like Mike, who is willing not only to pay first and last month's rent, as well as her security deposit in advance, but also help with the repairs Sam needs to do on the last apartment, was a dream come true. As they get to know one another, Sam begins to wonder what other dreams Mike might make come true. You'll have to read to find out, and believe me, it's well worth your time!!! Well done, Alex!!! - Michelle Jun 7th, 2003

A tale that has the passion of a PWP and yet an interesting innocense to it. I enjoyed it a lot! - Five Two Jun 6th, 2003
51. Leslaureate's alternative Über All or Nothing (113 pages) spent 8 weeks on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.
This romance novel relates the love story between two professional women in their thirties. Told from both of their perspectives, the book, poignantly and often humorously, conveys the unique character of lesbian relationships. More particularly, the confusion many lesbians experience in attempting to date without becoming enmeshed in the relationship.
    This comment contains spoilers.
I had the pleasure of reading this story in a couple of evenings. Leslaureate created wonderful characters with real and tangible emotions and situations. Alex was suffering with the "coming out of solitude" blues while her friends, Izzy and Ginny set her up with a woman they thought would be good for her. Would Alex commit to the wonderful woman she had in Stacey or would she crumble under the pressures of losing her "freedom"? This is a thoroughly enjoyable read and I recommend it. Good job Leslaureate!
    - Di Bauden Apr 6th, 2003

I'm definitely recommending this one! Great great storyline. I just finished reading it and it was very well written also. Don't forget to feed the bard! - Katia N. Ruiz Mar 20th, 2003

Not too long not too short with a generous dose of angst. I enjoyed reading this piece - mature protagonists facing an emotional crossroads (I can empathise!) in a segment of complicated courtship. Its an easy read, not demanding but with a little more meat than the average quick fic. Fans of La Tucker, KG McGregor and Ali Vali might like this as a warm-up :) - E. Mar 20th, 2003
50. Larisa's alternative Über Hill Jack Conspiracy (84 pages) spent 2 weeks on the list, including 1 week at #1.

"Hill Jack Conspiracy" is another winner from Larisa! Absolutely hilarious, and full of twists and turns, too! Thanks, Larisa...a great big, fat present for us, and just in time for Christmas, too! You rock! - Michelle Dec 18th, 2003
49. AJ Marks's alternative Über My Creator, My Protector (87 pages) appeared 6 times on the list including 1 week at #2.  There is a sequel to this story titled: DJ's Christmas Gift (21 pages).

    This comment contains spoilers.
This story starts out with one of the more intriguing character introductions that I've read in an uber, and the sci fi plot is generally pretty interesting. The interaction between the two main protagonists is also nicely developed. The story would be improved by greatly reducing the gratuitous sexual exploitation and torture. (What's with all the breast slapping, anyway?) - Anonymous Sep 2nd, 2003

Wonderful story, hope that there's a sequel to this work. Made me wish I had my own android. Please write more about DJ and Lexa. - Flamezfan Sep 2nd, 2003
48. Larisa's alternative Ancient Law (13 pages) spent 1 week on the Top-25 list this year, and 9 weeks in 2002 including 1 week at #1 for a 5th place finish that year.
Amazon law requires the Queen take a consort...will Xe return to Brie's side in time to claim her love? This funny little tale features Xena, Gabrielle, and a host of horny Amazons.
There is only one thing more that a reader could possibly want out of this story. For it to be longer and have many, many sequels. Larisa sure knows what she's doing! - SammyLee Jul 18th, 2003

Another masterpeice! Standing ovations all around.

On the recommendation of a friend I read "Sweet Surrender". I can tell this is one bard with major talent (in fact if time permits today I'm dying to read more of her works) but, for me anyway, it has one glaring faux pas. This very promising story falls victim to the "Invincible Dyke Syndrome", you know the woman who can have amazingly, fantastic, sex while: sick, injured, hurt but still on the living side of death's door or still recuperating from the aforementioned senarios. I also pegged the wrong character as the "surrenderer"...but I wouldn't mind having that libido for a day. - Kay Dec 25th, 2002
45. kd bard's alternative Über Flash Point (94 pages) spent 3 weeks on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.  Flash Point is the 17th story in a series that began with The Commitment.

How wonderful to see Cat and Billie again! A very thought provoking tale. I highly recommend it. If you have not read the entire series you are missing out. Just make sure you get the correct link for the ending. I hope to see more in the future. - Cheryl D Dec 21st, 2003

I truly love your Billie & Cat serie and hope that this is not the last. I can't wait for the next. The only thing I find a bit of a down-point is the way you jump at the ending. We don't know what happens between them being found and getting beter. It would add even more pages to the story if ya work that out just a little more :) Don't stop writing ... you're way to good!!! - Bacchus Dec 11th, 2003
44. T. Stratton's alternative Über To Protect and Serve (79 pages) finished 5 times on the Top-25 list in 2003, as well as 4 times in 2002.  To Protect and Serve also made it to #1 in both 2003 and 2002 finishing at #2 last year!
Tyler Jones is hired by BJ Stanton to protect her from a deranged stalker. Unable to fight the connection she feels, Tyler falls in love with BJ. Will Tyler be able to keep the woman she loves away from a man who is willing to kill to be close to her?
Wonderful uber, TT. I certainly enjoyed it and the story had an excellent plot. Thank you very much! - Red Hope Sep 15th, 2003

This is a great story, i love the characters, but please say there is more! - Anonymous Dec 8th, 2002
43. J.A. Bard's alternative Über Camping Out (111 pages) was a two-time #1 and finished 4 times overall on the Top-25 list.
Claire Hudson was on her way to a much needed two week vacation. Camping out where no human voice and the incessant noise that species always insisted on carrying with them was her dream vacation. Dreams are a good thing to hold onto.
I thought this story was very fast paced and tense. I liked it
alot. The only thing I would have liked was a little more
backround on Claire. I hope there is a sequel so we can get
to know all the great charactors better in this story. - Swampaa Sep 27th, 2003
41. There is a tie for 41st place this year! DE Salsbury's Über Fate (467 pages in 19 parts - unfinished) listed 6 times in 2003, 3 times in 2002 and finished in 61st place that year...
Wow! This story is well written in style, taste, and in keeping continued interest. This story generates every conceivable emotion one could express.I love the characters Ash and Lauren. Their personalities are ones that a person could relate to and almost take on as your own. True to life.Exciting, keeps you guessing, what next. Light hearted. a chuckle or laugh at times. Romance, very refreshing, it deplicts the love, caring and understanding two people who are in love could have. Which so far constitues an unconditional love for each other. Being a continuing story, it keeps the readers interest in anticipation of what will happen in the lives of Ash and Lauren. A continuing story well done! (A Forever Fan) Kathy
I am so happy to see this on the top 25 again. This is a wonderful story that should not be missed. I realize that the length of it as well as the fact that it is still a 'work in progress' may hinder some from reading 'Fate' but I have one thing to say to those that may be waiting in the wings....READ THIS STORY. It is one of the best I have ever read. - Jerri Dec 25th, 2003

    Excellent. - Anonymous Dec 17th, 2003

I have no idea how I could have missed this one for so long. This story is abosolutely FANTASTIC. Each and every page is filled with humor, suspense and romance. I LOVE THIS STORY, one of the best I have ever read and I have been reading stories in the verse since day 1. Hats off to D E Salsbury. - Samantha Dec 14th, 2003

Been reading this story since the begening...It a great story but where is 19...

    - Taz Oct 17th, 2003

I have never been one for reading long stories especially when they are not finished. With that said, I am so glad I made an exception to this rule for Fate.
Fate is an amazing story with a well developed plot line and three dimensional characters. I can honestly say, unlike most of the longer stories I have read, this one has never had a dull moment. This story is a very entertaining mixture of intrigue, humor and action.
Nice job D E Salsbury, keep up the good work.
    - Summer Sep 24th, 2003

Fate is one of the best story's I have read. It has everything in it you could ask for. It will draw you into the story so much you will feel as if you are really there and that you know each of the characters personally. I can't wait to read more of this great story so I can see what happens next. - Debbie Dee Aug 3rd, 2003

Amazing. This story has me totally taken in. I could not put it down until I had savored each and every page. Now all I can say is that I am still hungry, when will the next part be online so I may devour it? In all honesty this story is truly amazing. I give it 10 stars and recommend it to everyone. - Jazz May 6th, 2003

I found this story truly riveting and I wait for each new addition with great anticipation. The tale this bard has spun is not only spellbinding but is dotted with delightful characters that are so lifelike they come right off the pages and materialize before your eyes. I highly recommend this story as a must read for anyone who enjoys excellent writing. - Lady J Mar 31st, 2003

You can hear the nice soft music play as these two meet and see the electricity flow between these two as they get to know and trust one another. I give this story a five star rating. It's one of the best reads I've read in a very long time. I recommend this to anyone and everyone. - Righty Sep 9th, 2002
...is tied with Larisa's alternative Über The Ice Princess (70 pages), placed 73rd on last years' List, finished on the Top-25 list 4 times including one 1st place finish.
The ER Chief Besom had two choices - either fire Dr. Shay Gerard, whom he'd just heard the umpteenth complaint against or turn it over to the one person who could find out the deepest secrets of a spy. Enter Pez - tall, long dark hair and eyes that could pierce into your very soul...and Chief of Surgery. Can her unorthodox ways help her help Shay? What...who is she afraid of? Read on and find out, although somewhat graphic, this is yet another romp in the warped world of Larisa that will make you laugh and cry.
I really liked this story. The plot was awesome and the characters didn't get carried away. [wink. wink. poke. poke. nudge. nudge.]There weren't too many parts I wasn't allowed to read.
Good use of words, but not too complicated to read. My favorite line was "Can I get a wheelie chair for a frozen tater tot?"

PS I wish you would write more stories without the characters getting 'carried away'. - Nanaabelle's Grandson Aug 15th, 2003

it doesn't need comments... READ this story !! Larisa, you're one of the best bards !! - laurence Jul 31st, 2003

I must say I really do enjoy Larisa's stories very much. She has the ability to draw the reader into her story and keep them riveted to the screen. That being said I have but one criticism. The main characters are usually very likable and believable, but then the two goofy friends are always thrown in and they just completely detract from the story. I can't help but find them irritating and have to roll my eyes at their antics. I mean come on they don't act at all like real people do (well at least any people I have EVER met in my life). I personally enjoy being able to relate to the characers and they are simply impossible to relate to. This is just a personal opinion, of course. I would like to see Larisa turn her considerable talents towards writing something with more depth and emotion rather than finding new outrageous situations to throw these two annoying creatures into. - Peg Jul 12th, 2003

IMHO I believe this is one of her best. - Amanda Mar 16th, 2003

Larisa has found the formula that works everytime...I love her stories! Please keep them coming!!!! - LW Oct 5th, 2002

After wobbling a little with her last couple of stories, Larissa is back! "The Ice Princess" is well written, no lags or jags, just the author at her best. I loved the pez dispenser; it brought back childhood memories and a hankering for one of those solid, pure sugar treats that made me wired and able to run faster than anyone else. ;) Thanks and all that jazz to the author for an all-around good read.
    - Kay Oct 3rd, 2002

Just finished reading and I really enjoyed it...hilarious! Touching, too! - L Sep 27th, 2002
40. Alex Tryst's alternative Über Love In Photographs (182 pages) spent 5 weeks on the list.

Love in Photographs is and excellent read. I highly resommend it to those looking for a good read. Once you start, you won't want to put it down...even if it's 4 o'clock in the morning and you're bleary eyed and running on caffine... - Michelle May 29th, 2003

What a story! Talk about a rollercoaster ride! I loved it! Everyone should read this one. - Anonymous Mar 31st, 2003

This is a heart wrenching tale. Keeps you captivated the whole way through. Great job by the author and I do hope there is more to this saga. Makes you laugh and makes you cry. I'd read it over and over again. Thanks for endulging our sweet tooth for good fiction. - Caden Mar 7th, 2003

Great story! I loved every bit! The characters were so well done! I can't wait to read the follow up piece! - Anonymous Mar 5th, 2003

    This comment contains spoilers.
It is my opinion that this is absolutely the best piece from this author to date. The relationship between the main characters as well as the subplots and secondary relationships are well-developed. Torrance Whitfield is an excellent character sketch. You can tell this character is full of compassion and love, making her truly liekable even when her flaws are brought to light. As for the other main character, Helen, she is sophisticated and open. From the moment these two come together, you can tell something is going to happen, and the rollercoaster ride is fabulous. In addition September 11, 2001 is dealt with in a sensitive manner. The passage is emotional and trying on the characters, but the way it was written was well-constructed, and I give kudos to the author for taking on the challenge. If you read only one piece by Alex Tryst, this is the one you should read. - Anonymous Jan 3rd, 2003

    This comment contains spoilers.
IMO this is one of the author's best works. Some of her other stories give a definite uneasiness (enough to where I skip to the part where the child-woman is finally of legal age) with their may/pre-december themes. With "Love In Photographs" Ms. Tryst has perfected her love of the older woman/younger woman genre, especially since this younger character isn't a high school, sapphic, Lolita. ;) There's also a part that deals with 9-11 but the author is kind enough to forewarn her readers. Great story. - Kaye Jan 2nd, 2003

" Love in Photographs" A great story once you start reading you won't want to stop! - Anonymous Dec 23rd, 2002
39. S. Lee's alternative Über That Friend Of Mine (41 pages) finished 5 times on the list including one week at #1.
This is the final story in the Kat and Beth series. S. Lee has definitely outdone herself in this one, where the love and romance hit a wonderful zenith, and growth and family are showcased in the most romantic and soulful way. The song lyrics used throughout masterfully enhance this tale just at the right moment!
(Thanks bardeyes for the how to) A MUST READ by S. LEE. THAT FRIEND OF MINE is great. Very ‘w’omantic. Funny. Heart warming. And Kats’ dating ideas should be part of a manual; can’t miss type of thing (not to mention yummy). Kat, Beth, and family are very real. Spew alert in a certain conversation between Kat and Beth, and then with both daughters. Hysterical, cute, adorable. I love these characters. From the beginning in THREE DAYS, the vision of Kat in black, long black leather coat, black Stetson and all those special songs, made me want LOVE HAS NO PRIDE instantly. So, to fully get the feel for the wonderful ending of this amazing ride of a series, you must read the journey that got them here. Gut wrenching. The progression tears at you until the 3rd and final installment. You’ll smile in the end though. Believe me.
    - Maria Feb 21st, 2003

In the final install of the Kat and Beth series, your heart will melt from the romance that is found here. S. Lee has, once again, outdone herself telling the tale of Kat and Beth's trials, their love, their family and the belief in their future. The growth and depth of these characters make it impossible for you NOT to get completely sucked into their story. S. Lee's writing is wonderful! The love scenes will melt your soul, the song lyrics are well placed and the dialogue is meaningful and very entertaining. This series should not be missed! By anyone.
High praise should go to S. Lee - Excellent work! - Di Bauden Feb 20th, 2003

ANOTHER MUST READ BY S. LEE......
If you are looking for action and danger, go rent a Bond movie but if its romance that you desire, this is the story for you. You will be caught up in the imagery of the love and passion shared by these two women. You will gaze upon your mate and realize she inspires the same devotion that these two share. This installment should be viewed upon as a HOW TO in the romance department. And if reading this does not inspire your mate, a 2X4 upside the head, may be the only other alternative. It's worth missing sleep for. For those lacking the imagination....TAKE NOTES...you can only benefit from the knowledge.... ;) - Topaz Feb 20th, 2003

READ THIS STORY!!! If you don't, you will miss one of the most romantic, warm, funny, inspiring and rewarding tales ever written!!! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll shout for joy, and most of all, you will find yourself celebrating all the best things in life!!! S. Lee has, quite simply, outdone herself!!! Bravo!!! - Michelle Feb 19th, 2003
38. Anita Louise's alternative Über Fire Within (221 pages in 21 parts - unfinished) spent 7 weeks on the Top-25 list.

I'm up to date on my reading of "Fire Within" and can't wait for more! These characters have captivated me.

The town, the people, the strange going ons and now the monster that is scouring the countryside. It is a breath of fresh air to read a story that actually lets the readers feel 'every step.' A story that takes the reader on many adventures. I have laughed at times. Felt my heart beat faster when things got tense and scary.

I actually feel as if I am a part of this adventure. The love the women share is fantastic. Can’t wait to read more of this story.

    - Jill Oct 8th, 2003

I am so loving this story.I am there, I feel as if I am part of the team.
A marvelous story, written so well, I don't want to leave. Just when
I think I have figured out whats going on, Anita throws in a curve
and brings it in a whole new direction........Looking forward
to the next chapters........ - Jean Dec 12th, 2002

This story has it all: action, comedy, drama, a little heartache, a lot of romance, and a mystery that has me pointing fingers at a half-dozen characters. This is another great story from the talented and popular author, Anita Louise. Do not miss this one! - Kimin Dec 10th, 2002
37. Alex Tryst's alternative Über Second Chances (132 pages) spent 4 weeks on the Top-25 list.
Ms. Tryst is an excellent wordsmith and doesn't disappoint with this story. Her penchant for may/pre-december characterizations notwithstanding, the author makes it work and moves her characters through a truly believable tale. A very good read. - Kaye Jan 4th, 2003
36. S. Anne Gardner's alternative Über Cold and Lonely, Lovely Work of Art (103 pages in 6 parts - unfinished) spent 10 weeks on the Top-25 list.
Stark contrasts. A chance meeting in dire circumstances that changes the lives of two women forever. From the belly of the underworld to the complexities of different cultures. Taya, has no past, and isn't planning on building anything. She is comfortable in her own world where she rules with an iron fist and a bullet silences all opposition. Barbara, comes from a totally different world and is both seduced and terrified by the woman who has entered her life. One chance meeting. Perhaps the last chance for both of them.
I love how S. Anne Gardner writes. Fantastic chapters 5 and 6. Please keep them coming. - Monti Nov 12th, 2003

Cool story. Bravo S. Anne Gardner. - Anonymous Jul 29th, 2003

I just had to reread this story. It has taken us into two worlds that keep us on the edge of our seats. This is a must read. I recommend it to all. - Monti Jul 28th, 2003

A group of us decided to do an S. Anne Gardner marathon this weekend. "Cold and Lonely Work of Art," is one of our favorites. It kind of reminds us of "Seduction of Laura," which we would like to read also in this marathon. Thanks S. Anne Gardner - Kayden711 Jul 19th, 2003

I like the story line here. It has adventure, love and mystery. I want to know if Taya and Barbra will make it. - felicity146 Jul 16th, 2003

Great story. Where can I found more of it? - Sally May 29th, 2003

A tidal wave of emotional storms, hot and cold constantly ticking away. Humanity's continuous and sometimes futile battle against nature makes this one of the most powerful novels. - Tildus May 28th, 2003

Two different world's collide on a night that will change the lives of two souls brought together out of a love that is stronger than the two of them. Their need for each other will bring about many dangerous decisions that affect those whom they love. Can't get enough of this one. - Betty Boop May 27th, 2003

Stunning, haunting, powerfully compelling... An intricate and revelatory chronicle of one of the most baffling love stories. - kgreen May 26th, 2003

I recommend this story to everyone. It is a true uber of Xena. Or at least I think so. Of course it has a bit more to it. A Knight in shining armor and a Lady in distress. Great read. I am waiting for more of it. - Anonymous May 26th, 2003

I would love to read the story howerever the background makes it nearly impossible to do so. :( - Anonymous May 26th, 2003

This story kept me caught in its' weave the whole way through. I couldn't get enough. It is one of the best I have ever read. Tarie and Brie definately are proving opposites attract. Their souls belong together and deep down they are starting to realize it. The story unraveled just enough to make me want more. I cannot wait to read a possible sequel. AWESOME STORY!!! LOVED IT! :) - Caden Apr 9th, 2003

I've only three words for you, Wizzy: I Want More! - K.L.S. Apr 8th, 2003

What can I say about this story. It is one of the best I have ever read. The way Tarie and Brie go at it is outrageous. Two people that hate each other but deep down they love the other. Both are scared but by the end they take the chance. LOVED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT!! - T. Stratton Apr 8th, 2003
29. C.E. Gray's alternative Über Sergeant of the Heart (165 pages) gathered enough readers to finish 6 times on the Top-25 list.
In this griping romantic tale, Ryanne Cole had made her way to table four with the food, praying Johnny had it right. For the past few orders, he had told her the wrong table, and the green-eyed blonde had been the one to get the customer's wrath. Moments later, the door to the café opened, and a dozen uniformed men walked in. With the café being so close to the Army base, it was not unusual to see the soldiers stop by for a bite to eat while they were on break. What was unusual, however, was the next person in camouflage who walked in. She was tall, maybe 6'0" Ryanne guessed, with jet black hair and piercing blue eyes. The name-tag read K. Jones, and when the green-eyed blonde looked her way, Kris somehow wanted to speak to her forever.
This one you can read over and over and you will still feel great abut reading it.It has it all.Woldnt mind a Sargent like that myself. - SammyLee Feb 20th, 2003

Its a good story, but there is one slight problem I'm having with it from the first part. The whole they looked into each other's eyes and knew their destiny, and the whole she "knew once she kissed them nothing else in the world would matter." I like it so far, but the women just met. Anyway, i will keep reading it. See how it goes. :) - Anonymous Feb 9th, 2003

Larisa can spin a tale like NO ONE ELSE!!! "Bumbled Burglary" is yet another example of this bard's prowess, and perfect mix of side-splitting humor and rich romance. Everytime I read a Larisa tale, I find myself laughing out loud and crying real tears, usually at the same time!!! Thank you, Larisa, for another wonderful story!!! Read this tale!!! You won't be sorry!!! Promise!!! - Michelle Nov 23rd, 2003

Since the first time I read one of her stories I was hooked and have converted my friends into followers of Larisa's stories as well.. I was howling with laughter at Peanut and Laalaa.. I do agree that they give Sprout a run for her money!!

Larisa ur the best!! Don't stop writing Please.. Can't wait for where she takes us next!!

    Hugz... - Zyan Nov 19th, 2003

Dear gods, this one had me in stitches. Peanut and LaaLaa have to be two of the funniest characters Larisa has written...well, maybe except for Sprout. Larisa's imagination must have been working overtime for this one! Don't miss this story!!! - Judy Nov 12th, 2003
24. KG MacGregor's alternative Über Getting It Right (150 pages) finished 4 times one our Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.

I have been a KG MacGregor fan since the Shaken/Stirred series and I have got to say her stories just keep getting better and better!!! Getting it Right is fabulous!!! The romantic tension KG builds keeps you on the edge of your seat and the chemistry between Paula and Wynne is positively electric!!! Well worth the read and then some!!! Great job, KG!!! - Michelle Sep 16th, 2003

O-MA-GAWD. I started reading this and got a kidney stone and still wanted to read. Okay the pain kept me from it. But my mind was wrapped up in the drama. (ok in unison-"freak!") This the first story I have read by KG MacGregor and I am very impressed with the GOOD, HIGH QUALITY, SUBTLE writing and storytelling. My favorite part is the little chapter end comments. RUH ROO is right! I will check in again after I have read every story posted. I highly recommend this authors work. - nicky in durham Aug 25th, 2003
23. Ambrosia's alternative Über Hostage Of The Heart (367 pages) was listed 7 times on our Top-25 list in 2003, and 2 times in 2002 finishing in 69th place that year.
Desiree Love had a hectic day, however this claim is probably a total understatement. First of all, she slept late, then she was caught in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway, whereas it would usually move along smoothly, because she left early enough. Since there was a traffic jam, Desiree ended up almost being two and half-hours late, which her boss berated her for. Desiree, known for being a rather patient person most of the time, acted the complete opposite then. Next thing you know, she was packing her belongings...Then she found out her girlfriend had found someone else...Could it get any worse? Later that night, out to get ice cream, a cold barrel is put to her head and she's told to drive. Things might have gotten worse...maaaybe...but those blue eyes were electric! (Originally bebun posting April 2002 - Revised May 2003)

This was a great story. I'm waiting for the rest, hopefully not in vain. - Alex Mar 18th, 2003

22. Anne Reagin's alternative Über Someone's Justice (150+ pages)
Samantha Hilliard had been summoned for a deposition, and little did she know that the lawyer for the other side would be in the form of a goddess by the name of Sterling Hayes. The tall, dark-featured woman dressed impeccably in a creamy silk skirt and jacket that subtly flattered the sleek form beneath them, while Mahogany hair cascaded to a line well below wide shoulders. After a barage of questions, and her lawyer being ineffective, Sam assumed all was lost and stormed out. She had no way of knowing that the stunning attorney had already decided that she didn't want to practice this kind of law anymore. She would have liked to defend her position to the alluring young woman who had just squealed out of the parking lot. For some unnamed reason, it mattered what Samantha Hilliard thought of her. Shaking her head at the verbal beating she had just taken, survival instincts long buried began to surface. The beautiful barrister was soon surprised to find a smile creeping onto her face. 'It's never over till it's over.'

18. Larisa's alternative Über Tundra (54 pages) finished 5 times in the Top-25 including one week at #1!
Here's another great tale by the Mistress of Mayhem!! Shiloh and Kodi meet under some very unusual circumstances...Kodi can't fathom what it is about Shiloh that makes her nuts...and she can't believe that the tall, blue-eyed woman could have an interest in her...her research, maybe... In a way, it's Kodi's research and hers that brings them together and into trouble as ancient american traditions, woolly mammoths, primordial grasses, wacked scientists, crazed relatives, death threats, violence, mayhem, an incredible destined attraction plus a very funny potty-mouthed parrot converge in this story about finds in the Tundra, and true love, Larisa Style!
Daaaang, Larisa!!! You just keep out-doing yourself, don' 'cha??? Tundra combines an inventive and exciting plot, with Larisa's usual colorful cast of characters, including one absolutely hilarious cockatoo, who had me rolling on the floor, holding my sides and laughing hysterically!!! Somehow, Larisa always seems to post a new tale, just when I need it the most, too, so thank you, once again, Larisa, for another incredible ride...and lots of giggles and guffaws along the way!!! - Michelle Apr 10th, 2003

16. Larisa's alternative Über Chase the Storm (67 pages) finished 5 times in the Top-25 in 2003, as well as placing at #1 for one week in 2002 giving Chase the Story a #23 finish that year.
In usual Larisa fashion, the laughs are a mile a minute as spitfire TV anchor Gavin De la Rouge, gets a two-month assignment with 'The Storm Troopers,' whose rep as computer geeks, weather freaks and probably perverts, is the least of her problems. Truth is, the Troopers, headed by the taciturn Dr. T. Storm, are as much proficient professionals heading into danger trying to predict the next twister, as they are nuts. Gavin shortly fits right in with Beavis, Butkis, Dustball & Andy, and especially tall, blue-eyed, Mini Me-toting T., who just can’t help falling for the short blonde anchor. Get set for great laughs and a fast-paced read that will leave a big smile on your face!

I thought this story was freakin' hysterical. I'm such an uber addict and Larisa is quickly becoming a favorite. I'm waiting for more. - Twister Jan 27th, 2003

From the other comments, I expected to find this story witty, but I'm afraid I didn't. Much of the "humor" consists of characters yelling at each other in situations that seem contrived even by fan fiction standards. The secondary characters are too cutesy, the bad guys are one-dimensional, and there's not much effort at realistic dialogue. Guess my sense of humor is more of the Creme Brulee type. - Anonymous Dec 30th, 2002

I recently discovered Larisa's work and then read "Chase the Storm". I gotta tell you if you haven't already checked out Larisa's stories, run....don't walk. Almost each and every story will make you laugh and hate to see the story end. Larisa writes in such a way that you feel that you are watching the story take place on the screen. Great work... thanks Larisa! - JO Dec 27th, 2002

15. J.A. Bard's alternative Über Merker's Outpost (349 pages) finished in the at #1 spot once and placed 6 times on our Top-25 list.
If you like a good, long, SciFi/Fantasy story, this is the story for you! It concerns two women who originally met in Space Fleet officer's training school and after graduation, took different paths, to remeet after about nine standard years on Merker's Outpost.
    This comment contains spoilers.
"Merker's Outpost" is a sexy, action filled, sci-fi fantasy, with a complex plotline and interesting characters. (I really worried about them at times and wonder where they'll end up, even some of the more minor players, and this involvement is a very good thing). The settings are easy to visualize, a testimony to the author's vision of the outpost and other alien environs. J A Bard has created an expansive universe of societies, populated by an interesting variety of aliens. Constructionwise, with the background and interlocking character development segments, I was reminded of the "Dune" series by Frank Herbert. "Merker's Outpost" is a very good read, well worth the time, but I'll be looking for its continuation in "Arnica", since I felt that the ending left me hanging. (J A, unlike many readers, I wouldn't have a problem with a single 600-700+ page story, <g>). There's still some dancing to do. - Phantom Bard Mar 7th, 2003

I'm looking forward to when this comes out in print, I enjoyed it and it captured my imagination. One of the best pieces of sci-fi I've read in a while. - Andy Mar 7th, 2003
14. Ambrosia's alternative Über This Moment On (63 pages) finished 4 times on our Top-25 list include 1 week at #1!

The story of Kori Eaton and Skylar Whitney. An unusual meeting turns into an unforgettable night. A recently singled Kori, has been "living" at the Shopaholics Department store when one night, she finds out she is not alone in the store. A soon to be unhappily married Skylar, loses track of time (in the ladies room) to discover she was locked in the building with this stranger till morning. The events of the night would change both women forever. This tale was fun-loving and creative in nature, but most of all it had loads of that romantic stuff I crave. I would happily recommend this story.

I totally loved this story!! Katia N. Ruiz did a BEAUTIFUL job in this story. Battle between lost love and finds in totally different person. I loved how Noemi endure the loss of her beloved, find Terri, a lonesome person carry the baby of her bastard brother. How they both over came their agruement; their will of their own lives, and stands together as one. How they have friends, family that truely loved them. I loved how close Noemi's mother and father are close to one another, and her best friend, Victoria. She stand by for her friend, Noemi, and guide her to her trouble times. I'm crossing my fingers for the next seaqual to this exciting story.
Thanks Katia, for your for love of writing. Keep it up. - Bay Dec 13th, 2003

I owe this author an apology for when I first saw the word "revision" and the amount (55) of additional pages, I knew she'd ruined a perfectly good story. My bad. Ms. Ruiz, you have turned a good story into a great one. - Kaye Mar 4th, 2003

What can one say...? It was and is a great story.

This is the 2nd story I've read by this talented bard and it's a great story with just the right mix of drama, angst and love. I love a story with well written secondary characters and this author has done that and more with "Noemi." Well written and well done. - Kay Dec 26th, 2002

An absolute fabulous work of art, and yes, I mean art. The way Ms. Ruiz described the events in this story is amazing. She gave in-depth detail of the surroundings, giving the reader a clear picture, almost as if one was watching a movie. Once I started reading the story, I couldn’t stop. In some parts, I was on the edge of my chair, chewing my nails. The best story I have read in a very long time.
    - Anonymous Oct 27th, 2002

Just wanted to give a comment on my favorite story, Noemi. Folks this is a wonderful story about two women coming together through adversity. One realizing that she can love again, and the other realizing that she is worthy to be loved. I have read the story 'numerous', ok over 20 times and I love it more each time I read it. You should read this story, and be sure to let Katia know what you think. - Tonya Coley  Oct 15th, 2002

C.E.Gray has done an excellent job and I highly recomend this story. I just hope we get to read more about Sam and Kayla real soon (hint, hint)! - jbamazon Mar 26th, 2003

A wonderful tale! It kept me reading half the night! (and most of the morning.. now it's over.. sniff..whimper..) Excellant development of most interesting and lovable characters! I'd like to travel with them again sometime. Great attention to detail! I wanted it to be one of those stories that just keep going. I know, it was fairly long as stories go, but, I was hoping for the novella. Ok, the kingsized, mondo e mondo, extracurricular, energizer bunny, expanded version of the novella. Hint! Hint! Yes, please write the sequel.. Pssst... What happened to the... Oh, I guess that would be a spoiler, can't write that.(heh) I look forward to seeing more of your work soon! May your muse always smile upon you! Thanx, for the journey, M - Mary A Mar 22nd, 2003
10. Katia N. Ruiz's alternative Über The Long Way Home (Billie and Jewl) (120 pages in 16 parts - unfinished) placed 7 times on our Top-25 list.
In the span of ten years, this story takes us through the life of Illumination's people. In a small town where secrets are so hard to keep, two women struggle with their love. But when fear tears them apart, their lives take off in different directions, setting them through paths that are separate, but that could at any moment intermingle.
Great story! I doubt there will be any shortcuts. For Billie and Jewl, the road goes ever on and on...

"The Road goes ever on and on. Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can. Pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way. Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say."

Previously titled "Strangers Until We Meet," rewritten and longer. Agent Alexandra Adison's investigation into the disappearance of three women leads her to a Northern California town, Sunrise. What she found had her supervisor giving her a new assignment, to go undercover and monitor a group of outlaws that chose Sunrise as their home base. It took two years for SID, the law enforcement agency she worked for, to set up the right situation that will bring four important people to Sunrise, and one of them was a civilian who agreed to be the catalyst that will bring three dangerous men together. When it is time to put the bait in the trap, Adison has doubt in herself and fears that SID would be willing to sacrifice the civilian, whom she falls in love with.
8. R. Nolan's alternative Über LA Metropolitan (93 pages) finished once at #2 and 9 times on the Top-25 list overall.
Bowing to pressure from her family Dr. Kimberly Donovan returns to Detroit after completing her residency. Her life quickly goes down in flames. Falsely accused of molesting a patient and betrayed by her closeted lover, Kim flees to California hoping for a fresh start at a new hospital. She finds more than she bargained for at LA Metropolitan.
An excellent read. I didn't want to stop reading it. The main characters are fully realized and believable. Kim's ability to help Jess face her past and move beyond it was wonderful.

Keep it up. I look forward to reading the sequel.

    Great job, R Nolan! - Kinsey Oct 30th, 2003

7. Alex Tryst's alternative Über Triumphant Love (196 pages) climbed at high as 2nd place and finished 13 times on our Top-25 list.
    [This Comment contains spoilers.]
Having read all of this author's pieces, I can state fairly confidently that this is not one of her best works. However in speaking with her about it and coming to know the work's intent, if there really was any, I understand that this was one of her first ever completed stories. Ms. Tryst tries something different here, making a man one of two main characters, which is uncommon for her. It's my opinion that she falls short in the development of the piece compared to her other works. I think she should stick to what she knows, because she does a far better job with female characters than with male. Having said all that though, I don't think this piece should be totally dismissed. At the very least, reading this would show you where this author began, and reading something like Love in Photographs would show how far she has come. The first several pages of this seemed choppy and under developed, like it was a different piece, which the author confirmed to be true. She tries to transition into a completely different story line, not as well as she could have, but once into it things begin to flow better. I think there are some redeeming qualities about the book in as much as I did find both main characters likeable. I was somewhat enraged in the beginning at the injustice that appeared to be taking place, but by the end, I felt sympathy and compassion for the them as they had moved through many different relationship obstacles. Ms. Tryst throws a variety of taboo subjects into this work and for that I commmend her. She has made the effort to expand her boundaries and has put her characters through horrendous trials (all of which are clearly defined in the disclaimer and should be read ahead of time). An interesting and different read. - Anonymous Jan 8th, 2003

    [This Comment contains spoilers.]
I have enjoyed several of this author's stories, although with some reservations about the prevalent "Lolita" themes, so I thought I'd give this one a try. Unfortunately, I found myself loathing one character that turns out to be, weirdly enough, the protagonist. There's not a single character that I wanted to care about or respect in this story. I kept wondering if it were satirical, or if the main characters were going to go through some ironic shift, but that was not the case. - Anonymous Jan 6th, 2003
6. Tas's alternative Über The Return (306 pages) finished twice at #1 this year!  This story also spend a total of 9 weeks on the Top-25 list.

4. Kandis Glasgow's alternative Über Rock My World (55 pages) spent 15 weeks on the Top-25 list in 2003, and also finished at #88 in 2002 without ever making it into the Top-25 that year.  With Rock My World, Kandis owns the record for most weeks on the Top-25 list!
Take one Regina Taylor, record executive, tall, dark and dangerous. Add singer Kari Swift, not tall but she more than made up for her height with fatal cutness. Record Exec and Singer meet - match made in heaven right? NOT! It's hate at first sight as far as Kari is concerned...will Reggie be able to change her mind? Follow along and enter the stormy music world and see if they'll rock on!
Still one of my favorites. Lust, love, passion all wrapped up in a deliciously funny package. Rock on! - Kel Feb 17th, 2003
3. R. Nolan's alternative Über In A Heartbeat (158 pages) spent 8 weeks on the Top-25 list including Two Weeks at #1!
Officer Sam McKenna and her rookie partner receive an urgent radio call. There's a man with a gun in a local Emergency Room. As they race toward the hospital little does Sam know she is racing toward her destiny. When she confronts the gunman her life is forever changed...
A friend highly recommended this bard's story and boy was she right! The characters are so alive and believable they draw you right into the story. And what a story it was...well done bard, well done. Any chance of us seeing more of Sam and Riley? - Donna Dec 23rd, 2003

    in a word? Brilliant... - Snuff Nov 6th, 2003

SUPERB...ONE in a milinon... But wher is the rest????Need MORE PLZ - Keegan Conner Sep 19th, 2003

I enjoyed this bard's first story LA Metropolitan so was happy to see a companion piece. Wow! This one was even better. In A Heartbeat is a wonderful love story. The characters are funny, compelling and presented in a well balanced manner. Once you start reading you won't want to stop! Great story and a throughly entertaining read. Hope to see more of these ladies. - Beth Sep 13th, 2003

As I said I would do, I read this novella by R. Nolan late last night on into early this morning. I was impressed. This is a well written story which definitely showcases R. Nolan's writing talent. "In A Hearbeat" is a beautiful love story that leaves you wanting to read more about it's two lovely heroines. And this is not a PWP tale. This work of fiction definitely has a heart and a soul wrapped around a nice story line. You'll understand where the title comes from not too long after you start reading. You'll find yourself on cruise-control as you glide from chapter to chapter. Then suddenly, it's over. And you have to stop. But most certainly, you're filled with a craving for more. This cleverly written and totally entertaining fictional delight was, indeed, a follow-up to "LA Metroplitan", but it's definitely left behind in this sequel's wake. Where have you been hiding R. Nolan? I can most assuredly say I want to read more of this writer's work! - //AW Sep 7th, 2003

Excellent story! Well written and makes you want to keep reading to the very end. I look forward to reading more from this Author. - Anonymous Sep 6th, 2003

I was impressed with R Nolan's first offering "LA Metropolitan" so when I saw this companion piece, I was excited to read it. "In A Heartbeat" matched, if not surpassed her original work. The writing is well done, the characters are real and relatable. By the end of the story I was yearning for more. R Nolan writes a wonderful love story and I look forward to more work from this talented Bard. - Littlespit Sep 6th, 2003

The title "In A Heartbeat" caught my attention very quickly. Hmmm...I thought, perhaps a nice romantic story to read this evening to lift my spirits and soothe my very tired soul after an extremely busy work day. So, I ventured to commence reading this 'new' story to The Athenaeum. WOW!!! I read...and kept on reading...not letting go...not wanting to. I was 'hooked' very early on in this very well written and delightfully entertaining romantic tale. It certainly had gotten my attention and I found myself wanting 'more' even after completing the last chapter. This story by Ms Nolan is certainly a wonderful sequel to her first story, "LA Metropolitan"...and in my estimation, much moreso. This fictional interlude is more poignant, more riveting, more romantic, and more thought provoking in many ways. But, all in all...it's a story of...and about...'the power of love'. My suggestion is for y'all to read this one. Why?! 'Cuz you're really gonna like it. You truly are...'Fer sure!!! Well done,
    Ms. Nolan...very well done. - ~Ag Sep 4th, 2003
2. Ambrosia's alternative Über An Affair To Remember (289 pages) spent 12 weeks on the Top-25 list.  This story spent 2 weeks on our Top-25 list in 2002 and finished in 44th place that year.
Inspired the movie 'You've Got Mail,' this finished work is a fine romance.
This is an extremely well written story, which made the sweet plot even more enjoyable for reading. I can't wait to read more from this author. - Dimples Nov 21st, 2003

    This comment contains spoilers.
Well-written story, but frankly it was just plain mean after a while. I wanted to smack Jack for stringing along Sonny. I wanted to smack Sonny for being willfully stupid and cheating on her girlfriend with someone she'd never even met face to face. I kept wondering if someone really could be that naive. I just couldn't wait to finish it to see how much more stupid Sonny was going to get. Not to mention how long it would take Sonny to grow up and see that Jack put her out of business on purpose. She's supposed to forgive & forget and then fall in love with her after that? I know this is fiction, but really! - Anonymous Nov 20th, 2003

This is my first time commenting on a story and all I can say is, what an absolute awsome story!!! Not since the Billie and Cat series by KD Bard has a story and its characters, totally captured me. It kept me glued to my PC for hours. I have never seen the movie, but I am betting that Ambrosia's rendition blows the movie away. I would pay great money to see this one in production. I am hoping to see a series of stories based on all of the characters. - Anonymous Nov 4th, 2003

outstanding, great story, much better than the movie that it inspired, sequel, sequel, sequel.......loved the interplay between the major an minor parts, a very good and enjoyabe read, MORE PLEASE! - dusty Oct 24th, 2003

This story is one of my favs. Had me captivated from the beginning. I love her work and would highly recommend this fantastic novel to all readers. - Clare Jun 24th, 2003

A refreshing tale with delightful twists. I really enjoyed this story and will be reading more from this author. - Meg Jun 23rd, 2003

Not only does she have great taste in music but, she writes too! This romantic story is very well written and it was a lovely treat for this very warm afternoon. Keep up the good work and write-on! - nlw Jun 12th, 2003

This is a very well written and interesting story, I love the characters but what I would like to know is when the next update is. - Marian Jan 2nd, 2003

And the most read story of the year was...

1. Larisa's alternative Über Blue Calm (88 pages) spent 9 weeks on the Top-25 list including one week at #1.  Larisa set a one year all time a year record for the most number of hits on a single story at 9,639!
Tucker Danes is supposed to be on vacation in Hawaii with her fiancé Steve, and it's NOT what she expected. All he cared about was making a good impression with his boss, and Tucker was asking herself why she was with that looser. Then the unthinkable happens and Tucker leaves him, set on returning home to Texas as soon as possible. As fate would have it, she can't get a flight home, and ends up at Mama's. There she'll experience what Hawaii and surfing are all about, the antics of Furball, Ripples and Dunc, and what love looks like when she looks into eyes as blue as the ocean. This is another laughter-filled romance with tender moments and some spew alerts, a la Larisa!
All I have to say is Larisa writes some of the best fic storys I've ever read. - TMc Aug 1st, 2003

I loved it , but then I have all of hers. The goofy characters she comes up with and the situations keeps me in stiches - can't get enough of the goofy ones they just add to the story. If ever I am looking for something to read I just grab a Larisa story. Keep up the good work for I will read them all. - Linda Jul 14th, 2003

Damn, woman you're good. You should write sequels for some of your stories. I would love reading one of Blue Calm.

Please, don't ever stop writing!!!! You're way to good!!!!

    - Bacchus Jul 11th, 2003

With the amount of stories, Larisa has written at this point, one might be tempted to say: GET A LIFE! However, I prefer to say: Please don't EVER get a life. Please! Blue Calm is not the first Larisa I've read, and it will certainly not be the last, either. It it simply too funny to describe, it has to be experienced. You laugh, you cry... and then you laugh some more. I want a Mama and two idiots of my very own. Larisa = Quality. Keep it up! - Wolvie-DK Jun 16th, 2003

Another wonderfully unique Larisa original...filled with romance, drama, and outrageous humor. Ahhh...a feel good sensation achieved with this truly delightful and sensually delectable read. Well done, bard. Two thumbs up! ~Ag~ - ~Ag~ May 13th, 2003

Well, Larisa has done it, again!!! Blue Calm kept me in constant giggle mode, with a few happy tears thrown in along the way. Ripples and Furball, the idiots, are hilarious, and watching Mama try to control her brood kept me in stitches. And I have to say, either Larisa has lived the most diverse life ever on this planet, or she has the best imagination around, because she can write about any subject, as though she's an old hand at it. Kudos, Larisa, and thanks again for sharing you're marvelous talent with us!!! I do have to say, though, I missed the goat in this one!!! - Michelle May 13th, 2003

A surfer, a writer, a couple of idiots and ... you'll have to read the rest. It's Larisa at her best. The laughs don't stop. - Anonymous May 12th, 2003

ANY CHANCE OF A SEQUEL??? - Anonymous May 8th, 2003

Why haven't any of Larisa's stories been published? I would love to have an anthology of her stories! I'd be the first in line to buy any of her books. The only problem would be trying to select just which stories to publish. Thanks, Larisa, for all the laughs and many hours of enjoyment you have given us. - Anonymous May 6th, 2003

Incredible story. Absolutely loved it. It just keeps getting better and better with each new one you show us. :) Gotta love those sexy surfers. ;-)

    Keep up the excellent writing!

I do have one question however....

Where can I get a copy of that poster??? *drool* - Caden May 6th, 2003
