O-MA-GAWD. I started reading this and got a kidney stone and still wanted to read. Okay the pain kept me from it. But my mind was wrapped up in the drama. (ok in unison-"freak!") This the first story I have read by KG MacGregor and I am very impressed with the GOOD, HIGH QUALITY, SUBTLE writing and storytelling. My favorite part is the little chapter end comments. RUH ROO is right! I will check in again after I have read every story posted. I highly recommend this authors work. - nicky in durham - Aug 25th, 2003

I have been a KG MacGregor fan since the Shaken/Stirred series and I have got to say her stories just keep getting better and better!!! Getting it Right is fabulous!!! The romantic tension KG builds keeps you on the edge of your seat and the chemistry between Paula and Wynne is positively electric!!! Well worth the read and then some!!! Great job, KG!!! - Michelle - Sep 16th, 2003

I haven't read a story that kept me hooked for a long time. This one did! It's really a great piece of work with wonderful characters (If I didn't know this isn't possible, I would say I have seen the sparks fly!) and a good story. - Amastre - Feb 23rd, 2005

KG MacGregor knows how to weave a story. WOW! This one is definetly a MUST READ. The characters were really great together. Read this story now!! - yin yang - Sep 10th, 2005

I just love the stories of Kim and that is even (beside "Wild") my favourite one. It is a disturbing read in parts but I really recommend it! - querdenker69 - Aug-11-2006

This was a fantastic story, very well written and I actually cried at one stage (which I never do!!) It would have been perfect if Keller and Garrison's romantic relationship had been expanded on, rather than, I felt rushed in the last two chapters...just MHO no offence to the wonderful writers of this piece which is now one of my favourites!! - Raven - Sep-03-2006

This is a VERY good, VERY sad story. I've went through such a range of emotion reading this that I can't begin to describe it. If you are in the mood for a tear jerker this is it. - Netta - Sep-07-2006

I enjoy Kim's other works, but particularly liked this one. The story is well told, and the characters are very sympathetic; they drew me in! Would highly recommend this story!! - Anonymous - Oct-25-2006

This is an amazing story! The characters are completely believable, and story was very well though out. This is one of the best I have ever read. It takes the reader through every emotion possible. Truly an amazing story! - jd - Nov-28-2006

This story has it all: action, comedy, drama, a little heartache, a lot of romance, and a mystery that has me pointing fingers at a half-dozen characters. This is another great story from the talented and popular author, Anita Louise. Do not miss this one! - Kimin - Dec 10th, 2002

I am so loving this story.I am there, I feel as if I am part of the team.
A marvelous story, written so well, I don't want to leave. Just when
I think I have figured out whats going on, Anita throws in a curve
and brings it in a whole new direction........Looking forward
to the next chapters........ - Jean - Dec 12th, 2002

I'm up to date on my reading of "Fire Within" and can't wait for more! These characters have captivated me.

The town, the people, the strange going ons and now the monster that is scouring the countryside. It is a breath of fresh air to read a story that actually lets the readers feel 'every step.' A story that takes the reader on many adventures. I have laughed at times. Felt my heart beat faster when things got tense and scary.

I actually feel as if I am a part of this adventure. The love the women share is fantastic. Can?t wait to read more of this story.

- Jill - Oct 8th, 2003

Enjoyed the story, and I am the type of person where if you don?t catch my interest in the first few paragraphs, then I am going to read something that will. Well written, I look forward to new adventures by the characters and a sequel. R. - Anonymous - Jan 30th, 2004

This story reads like a great mystery novel..with the characters intertwining within and around one another... loved it....looking forwards to a sequel. - Christi - Jan 30th, 2004

Oh, yeah, the Fire Within has so many tendrils of flames feeding marvelous characters, romance, plots, mysterious goings on and a hairy horror not born from a bad hair salon. You will cringe at times, put new wrinkles in your forehead trying to figure out the who the numerous bad guys are and get a free suntan
following the characters to valleys & desert locations. The gals are gorgeous, lovable, funny and fend quite well dealing with the bad guys. Not much this story failed to weave well into it pages. Don't miss this one and encourage the bard to write a sequel. Just too characters you want to see again and follow to another adventure. How about it, Anita Louise?
O Ger - Anonymous - Jan 30th, 2004

A bevy of butt-kicking, intelligent, and gorgeous women head up the cast of this exceptional mystery. Anita Louise offers another well-written adventure that will transport the reader to exotic locales, place you in the middle of danger, and face-to-face with an element of the supernatural. And just in time for Valentine's Day, Anita puts the reader in the mood for romance as she weaves tales of enduring love within this novel. Will you be able to solve the mystery before the heroines? It will be quite the challenge, even for super sleuths. - Rachel - Jan 31st, 2004

A fantastic story filled with romance, action, and mystery! One of my favorites. Don't forget to vote for Fire Within for the top 100. It definitely deserves a high spot, and so do Anita Louise's other stories. Check them out! She's such a talented writer. - Jane Bond - Feb 1st, 2004

WOW!! Great story. It holds your attention to the very end. - kb - Aug 26th, 2005

In the year 1868, a time known for most Americans' fierce prejudices against all people not of the same heritage, a circumstance of pure chance brings a white woman and an Indian woman together. She is called Blue Fire; an apache warrior destined to somehow make a difference for her tribe. Everything tells her not to trust the white that has taken her in, and yet her heart gives her no other choice. Often torn between the ways of the white man and the ways of her ancestors, she struggles to satisfy both the calling of her soul and the calling of her people. A strong warrior, stubborn and proud, loyal to those she deems friends, nothing but danger to those who would dare cross her?this is her story.
Romantic, thrilling, dramatic and dern good. Blue Fire is sexy and perfectly set in the past as a western thriller. I liked the characters and the pace. I liked the cowboy versus Indian flare and the Indian versus Indian issues. It's a really great read. - JLNicky - Jul 16th, 2005

This is a well written story, crossing cultures and taking us back to a different time.

The references to nature, cultures, and languages are well thought out, and are incorperated smoothly into the story.

I'd like to see Robyn take Alicia back to her tribe, and see things from Alicias' point of view.

I truly ejoyed reading this story and hope there is a sequel !

In 1975, the feminist movement was less than ten years old and had not yet reached the multitude of women whose lives it hoped to change. Women in many towns and/or in conservative churches fulfilled the expectations to marry and raise children. They went about their day to day lives refusing to recognize the nagging voice inside of them. This story is dedicated to those courageous women who listened to their hearts, ignored the prohibitions of their families, friends, and communities, and allowed love to honestly direct their paths. And to the real C and B - this one is for you.
Wow, what a beaytful and touching story! CJ Harte does it again, don't miss this story. And definitely don't miss Dreams of Bali, one of the best long story out there! - Patricia - Aug-22-2006

This SHORT story is simple and nice to read.. I wish it would have been longer to read with their house full of kids..But C.J.Harte left us with a very nice ending that will leave you with a smile on your face and a tear in your eye. I have read your other stories and I too think you are a very good writer.. - carrie - Aug-25-2006

I found this story to be excellently written, and it brought back submerged memories of hearing Olivia Newton-John singing this tune on the radio, and having one of those "aha!" moments. I realized I'd fallen in love with a friend, but knew I would never have her in that way. Beautiful story, read and recommend to your friends. - Book Cat - Aug-26-2006

D has outdone herself in the writing of this tale! In this wonderful amalgam of mystery, adventure, romance, history and fantasy, D has woven a tale rich with the sights, sounds and feel of two worlds centuries and cultures apart and populated with warm and rich characters, two of which reach out across time itself for an unforgettable fairly tale ending. You will be enchanted by classic-style Uber that draws you in from the first sentence and won't let you let go until it is done! Brava!
I absolutely loved this story. It's a great read for anyone who is looking for something to read on a day like this. This story is absolutely beautiful and proves that love can cross time. - Alise - Mar 7th, 2004

I would like to say just how much I enjoyed this thoroughly wonderful piece of work. It achieves just the right balance between action, adventure and drama; but above all else it is one of the most beautifully romantic tales I have ever read. - Ang - Oct 27th, 2005

I love this story. It has the appeal of destiny and timelessness that always draws me back for a reread. Try it, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as well. - Royuki - Nov-13-2006

Absolutely wonderful story. I hope there is going to be a sequel! - Jennifer - May 7th, 2004

Psicology meets investigation, with action in the middle. A group of friends losing one of their one to sinking insanity over a sad twist of fate. A new comer igniting the fallen one?s awakening. New lovers lust with mixed emotions. Anger and friendship on the field.
Love it! But then again I'm a sucker for stories portraying a good group of friends; besides, there?s a really hot couple. In simple adjectives: sexy (very very!), funny, deep, unexpected, great. It left me reading all night long. I?m *really* crossing my fingers to see a new story with these characters (all of them!).
- Maria - Jan 11th, 2005

Gaia by romansilence
Stargate SG-1 | Futuristic | Alternative | Romance (alt) | Novel - 157 pages | Unfinished | Mar-06
Honors/Awards:  #90 in 2006
Links: The Athenaeum
The Amazons are not a myth and they were not destroyed; they went through the Stargate and live a seemingly low-tech life that hold a lot of surprises. Gabrielle is still the Queen and Xena her Consort. Together will they give Samantha and Janet the courage to finally own up to their feelings for each other? This tale has romance, action, and don't be surprised of the Gao'uld show up!
As of yet uncomplete but a fascinating look on how to bring two series together and make it work. You have thought up a fascinating new world, which still holds familiar values. Frankly, at first i thought the behaviour of Xena way off, but getting deeper in to the story i started to see how right it was. The people, known to us all, are true to what we know of their character.. you have brought it all together nicely. Can't wait to see the next part. - Wit - Mar-31-2006

This was the first story by this author that I had read, and it certainly won't be the last. Romansilence has woven a tale that holds true to both the Xena and Stargate storylines, and does a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. I look forward to the sequel. - Baerinin - Jun-21-2006

This story is finished - but it begs a sequel. A great read and a very interesting blending of the two shows. I thoroughly enjoyed it. - Georgia - Jun-22-2006

This is one of the best conqueror novels i've ever had the pleasure of reading. Keeps you on the edge of your seats to the very end. MUST READ THIS STORY!!!! great diversity of characters... gabrielle was simply brilliant.

is there any possibility for a sequal?

if not then keep em coming! this author has to continue writing... - Snuff - Oct 25th, 2003

I know I'm not suppose to comment on myself , but I couldn't think of another way to reach you, Snuff, and let you know that: yes, there is gonna be a sequel :). Part 1 is already finished and I'm gonna send that to the Atheneum soon, but since I've tossed 50 html files at the creators of this wonderful site last time, I figured I'd be nice and lay low for a little while ;). If you're impatient and you wanna read it now, just send me an email and I'll point you in the right direction, kay?

Ow, and thank you for the nice feedback :). Edge is my personal favorite (don't tell the others, they'll get jealous ;)) so it's really nice to know other people are enjoying it as well :).
- Annemaart (aka the author ;)) - Oct 28th, 2003

Very nice take on the conqueror genre, I like the ideal of a strong Gabrielle rather than a broken slave as so many do.

One thing that annoyed me was you need to check it for improper word use. (piece instead of peace, rain instead of reign) - Alara - Oct 30th, 2003

If you don't normally read Conqueror stories think about changing your habits with this wonderful piece of fiction. Gabrielle is a strong and very capable resistance fighter, but her will and her heart are tested by the very charming Xena The Conqueror. Xena's not perfect by any stretch, but she sure is likeable here. I've read this a number of times now and I still love it. Anne is currently writing a sequel (Path Of Thorns) which is turning out just as good. - Sai - Sep-11-2006

love the story! glad to hear a sequel is in the works. i will be waiting and watching. - kjviking - Sep-28-2006

This is a most excellent take on the Conqueror genre. I've just read it for the second time, and I think it gets better with each re-read. - Anonymous - Dec-15-2006

Real Estate agent Georgina Anne Franklin stuck gold! Not only had she sold Jaden Connelly, singer extraordinaire about to retire, her dream house and made a bundle in commissions, she had made a friend. The ER Chief Besom had two choices - either fire Dr. Shay Gerard, whom he'd just heard the umpteenth complaint against or turn it over to the one person who could find out the deepest secrets of a spy. Enter Pez - tall, long dark hair and eyes that could pierce into your very soul...and Chief of Surgery. Can her unorthodox ways help her help Shay? What...who is she afraid of? Read on and find out, although somewhat graphic, this is yet another romp in the warped world of Larisa that will make you laugh and cry.
Just finished reading and I really enjoyed it...hilarious! Touching, too! - L - Sep 27th, 2002

After wobbling a little with her last couple of stories, Larissa is back! "The Ice Princess" is well written, no lags or jags, just the author at her best. I loved the pez dispenser; it brought back childhood memories and a hankering for one of those solid, pure sugar treats that made me wired and able to run faster than anyone else. ;) Thanks and all that jazz to the author for an all-around good read.
- Kay - Oct 3rd, 2002

Larisa has found the formula that works everytime...I love her stories! Please keep them coming!!!! - LW - Oct 5th, 2002

IMHO I believe this is one of her best. - Amanda - Mar 16th, 2003

I must say I really do enjoy Larisa's stories very much. She has the ability to draw the reader into her story and keep them riveted to the screen. That being said I have but one criticism. The main characters are usually very likable and believable, but then the two goofy friends are always thrown in and they just completely detract from the story. I can't help but find them irritating and have to roll my eyes at their antics. I mean come on they don't act at all like real people do (well at least any people I have EVER met in my life). I personally enjoy being able to relate to the characers and they are simply impossible to relate to. This is just a personal opinion, of course. I would like to see Larisa turn her considerable talents towards writing something with more depth and emotion rather than finding new outrageous situations to throw these two annoying creatures into. - Peg - Jul 12th, 2003

it doesn't need comments... READ this story !! Larisa, you're one of the best bards !! - laurence - Jul 31st, 2003

I really liked this story. The plot was awesome and the characters didn't get carried away. [wink. wink. poke. poke. nudge. nudge.]There weren't too many parts I wasn't allowed to read.
Good use of words, but not too complicated to read. My favorite line was "Can I get a wheelie chair for a frozen tater tot?"

PS I wish you would write more stories without the characters getting 'carried away'. - Nanaabelle's Grandson - Aug 15th, 2003

"Hey Buuuuuddy where's my candy&need the woodpecker." Larisa has a way with words that keep you involved from beginning to end, and left wanting more! - Cindy - Nov-06-2006

Part 1 of the The Lemnos Quartet Series
Ten long and lonely years after Xena's demise in Jappa, Gabrielle returns to the Amazon Village, in the hope that she will be able to rejoin the Tribe, and make amends for having abandoned them after Helicon. Uncertain that she still has any right to be their Queen, she appeals to a problematic Artemis, and must undergo an Ordeal to determine her fate. The post-Twilight of the Gods is an odd time, and strange things can still happen.
Wow. That's the first word that popped into my head after I read this story. It is THE best post-FIN story I have ever read. It doesn't cut corners; it doesn't spare emotion--yet it doesn't go overboard. The writing itself is fabulous, some of the smoothest and most...bard-like I've read. And the ending is so satisfying! I cannot wait to see more from this wonderful author. - Anonymous - Mar-17-2006

FBI Director Jericho Chamaune has a hobby of trying to solve the cases of missing women dating back ten years of more. One day her assistant director Stan gives her yet another folder of a missing woman. Like several others, she is a college student from Texas. In all the time she has been working the case, they have yet to find any sign of the missing women. When she placed the picture of the latest missing young woman on her wall, she could not tear her eyes away from the green eyes looking back at her. One day a friend working at the nearby hospital calls her. A woman has been found lying beside a road and brought to the emergency room for treatment. At her first sight of the woman's haunted green eyes, Jericho knows that this is the latest missing woman.
I thoroughly enjoyed Buried Prejudices and the rest of your stories. I don't know why I've never read them before, but each new story is like a fine wine - to be savored. - Judy - Jun 13th, 2002

As with all of Larisa's stories, she grabs your undivided attention at the onset and you find you can't stop until the last sentence has been read. All her stories contain the standard beginning, middle, and end...but in between, they're packed with enough action and romance to make your reading a delighful pleasure. - ~M~ - Jun 17th, 2002

I?ve just ?discovered? Larisa?s stories. Buried Prejudices was fantastic, and I wan?t more, more, more!!!! - Anonymous - Dec 11th, 2002

Do you remember your first love? Harry Basantes did. She remembered with vivid clarity the way young love could break your heart and leave you empty inside with its unanswered questions. Unanswered questions that have haunted her for sixteen years. Would seeing the object of her pain after so much time drive Harry to forgiveness? Or will it giver her the opportunity to be the one to walk away?
Oh by the gods! This was a great great story and I am so very happy I read it. Thank you to the author. - Liana Travis - Jul 20th, 2002

I enjoyed this story immensely but then I have all of hers. The sequel All It Took Was You is even better. - Linda - Jun 24th, 2003

I can't think of any other way to describe this story except fabulous. I would highly recomend it to anyone looking for a good enthralling read. I wasn't able to stop reading it until I finished every word, and it's sequel, "All It Took Was You" did it again the next night. Excellent work Ali. - Alex P. - Oct 19th, 2003

I have just finished reading, for the third time, this thoroughly delightful and most entertaining romantic tale, "How Do You Mend A Broken Heart"...and it's just as wonderful sequel, "All It Took Was You". I equally loved both of these romantic tales. Why not? These two stories are all one and the same...the continuation of a beautifully told 'love story'; the sensational saga of 'Harry and Desi Basantes'. Did I say "Harry"? Yes, I did...but don't let the name fool you. This story(ies) are going to be a delicious surprise for you. And you can't read the first one without desiring to read more about 'Harry and Desi'...thus, your search for the sequel. And what two wonderful stories they are! The first story is so masterfully written to flow ever so easily, ever so gently, into it's sequel. Ali Vali has truly written a most enchanting 'love story'...one for the heart. There are some DV situations that were written in as part of these fictional tale(s), but you'll easily sail through these 'paragraphs' as easily and as smoothly as I did. Because this very talented author has written these two romantic tales so well and in such a manner as to overshadow anything else. And 'LOVE' is what is happening...and where it's at! I can say for sure that you'll never be disappointed in reading anything that is written by this marvelous writer. This writer can most definitely be called a 'bard's bard'! Thank you Ali Vali. - //MjM - Oct 25th, 2003

Marvelous! If you like intrigue and romance mixed with the "High Life" of the Entertainment industry in a futuristic setting, then this is the story for you! This tale is well-crafted, the plot-line well thought out and the descriptive prose puts the reader right in the middle of the action. Thanks for a thrilling read, JA -- where's the sequel??? - Therese - Jan 2nd, 2006

I do not recommend this story for anyone that wants to get to sleep on time. Once I started this story, I had a hard time pulling myself away to get some sleep. This story had drama, intrigue and passion. It was well written and the plot was not predictable. I cannot wait to read the sequel. - Gabsfan - Jan 26th, 2006

Overall, a very good story. A little rushed in places, but very good. I'll be on the look out for more from this author. - SBerry - Apr 12th, 2003

Standard piece of uber for a lazy sunday morning, good dose of soppiness and a pinch of angst. Nice portrayl of the relationship between these two women and I did enjoy the subtle moral of the tale in the end. - Stephanie - Apr 12th, 2003

I challenge you not to fall in love with anything Kim has ever written. She's a fantastic author and well worth a look or two-thousand...Highest recommendations!!! I guarantee you.ll love it and come back again and again. - Fox_Feather - Apr-15-2006

Great story. Kim Pritekel weaves a nice tale of a successful music star with a scarred past and turbulent present and a children.s nurse who thinks she has everything she needs in her small town life. After meeting under .interesting. circumstances the two become friends and find their lives intertwining and the bond that develops between Christine and Willow is palpable even if it takes them a while to understand it fully. Very well written with a touch of angst and dash of romance to keep you interested all the way to the end. I would definitely read a sequel. - Sai - Apr-21-2006

Is this story finished or unfinished? The link on chapter 8 is a loop. - Anonymous - Apr-21-2006

This is great! I love the slow buildup of the romance. Nice change from "meet, greet, hop in bed" type stories. Maybe I'm just a sucker for a good romance. - JSS - Apr-22-2006

KP has always been one of my favorite authors and has written some of the 'nets finest fiction. This story is one of her best and is full of what makes her so fun to read - humor, love, action, drama, plenty of angst and the characters are true to life in a way only the very talented can portray. Thanks again KP for your past, present and future endeavors -- I'll always be a fan! - Therese - Apr-26-2006

Here's one that has all the makings of Country-Western songs...several of them! ;-) Actually, using Blake Shelton song as somewhat of a backdrop, Larisa spins Gillian and Erins' tale of love found, love lost, and love found again in this bitter-sweet reminiscence tale with a classic ending.
What a wonderful story this Bard has written, I truly enjoyed it. - Teresa - Oct 16th, 2002

This story was different than what I'm used ot form Larisa. But, it was still just as good as any she's ever written! It was very good... can't wiat for part two! - Amanda Windeler - Nov 10th, 2002

This is brilliant. Radically different to her usual style, which I have to admit, that, like a recent comment stated, I'm not really a fan of. I find the supporting "lunatic fringe" characters irritating and un-realistic, too. I realise that these are the very things that draw a lot of readers to Larisa's stories so I won't knock them, they're just not to my taste. This story however was very much to my taste. I hope there's a sequel, (it did say to be continued!). Well worth a read! - Zero - Jul 16th, 2003

Oh this one is really good. Different than her other stories but the heartwarming love is still there! - Anonymous - Jul 29th, 2005

This story has touched my heart just as much as Blake Shelton's song This Is Austin did when I first heard it. I just wish that Larisa would do a sequel to it. I know that it has a nice ending but it just seems sort of unfinished in a way. - Jesse James - Apr-21-2006

I loved this story. Haunted Past touched my heart the same way that Blake Shelton's song This Is Austin does every time I hear it. I just wish that Larisa would make a sequel. - Jesse James. - Apr-21-2006

Brilliant as usual! Gardner's stories captivate you from the get go! I only have one thing to say..finish finish..finish..!The conclusion of "An Affair of Love" would be nice to have also. Author..Author!! - Califa - Mar 5th, 2004

Any updates for 'Breath Of Scandal'? I love this author's stories...they are thick and richly insane in psyche, and spellbinding. I'd like a new one for each week of the year. So selfish a reader am I, when I know darn well that such writing is a craft that is honed over and over... - Anonymous - Feb 2nd, 2005

Thank you, author, for the next 6 pages. This author is excellent at 'rifts.' The emotional distance S. Anne Gardner creates between the two main characters starts your heart pounding with a tension of wants, wants and more wants. (like a good serial that keeps you coming back) She also throws you head first into each of her stories, as an excellent writer will do..you are off and running within her text. I devoured the pages before breakfast! - Anonymous - Mar 8th, 2005

God this story is amazing!! i have to stop reading them before they are finished though, now i have to go to class with it in my head unfinished!! TORTURE!

As always S. Anne Gardner writes a comment upon the meaning and tragedy of life as it is lived in any age in any quarter of the globe. a must read. - Monticristo - Mar 14th, 2005

I never read unfinished work, no patience. So why am I doing it with SAG's work? I love what falls out of this author's head and onto the page. Can we get her characters on The LWord?:) I still have Gardner's "Seduction of Laura" running through my mind. What a read! Greedy me, I think a sequel could happen...I'm still standing there with Laura, wondering. Very profound work. - Anonymous - Mar 29th, 2005

I'm going to read another story by the same bard.If I had to rate this story on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 10 plus.Loved it, Loved it, loved it !!!! - Lilly - Dec 11th, 2002

What a great story. These characters are so well written and developed. The story line was really intereting as well. I highly recommend it. - Erica - Nov 7th, 2003

Into the Dark and Learning to Climb are fantastic. Fast paced, but deep. Excellent character development and serious treatment of a serious subject. Sexy and sweet, but with a plot that keeps you on your toes. The sequel (learning to climb) is not just a sequel but a darn fine story in its own right. Thank you Sharon! - Amy Beltaine - Oct 26th, 2004

This story is well written, somewhat edgy, has great characters and a wonderful sequel. Rock musican meets Reporter and the sparks fly. Hot, sexy & fun mixed with some tenderness and pain. - Kali - Jul-02-2006

Part 1 of the Claire & Amanda Series
Although she had a thriving practice, there was something missing in Amanda Greer's life. The young psychologist had recently bought a townhouse that she shared with her infant daughter, Melissa, the apple of her mother's eye, but who took up most of her time. But there was an emptiness in her life that Amanda recognized as simple loneliness. It was like a constant low-grade fever, nothing too severe, but uncomfortable enough to cause her concern. Enter Claire Easton, criminal defense lawyer with the same kind of fever. Their chance meeting is just what the other needs and the sparks will fly in this fast paced Uber with some very clever moments! Good read.

An amazing read, one I would recommend to anyone. - alecto - Dec-04-2006

I was looking for a story to read and picked this one solely because (I'm embarrassed to admit) of the title. Wow did I get lucky! This is one of the most engrossing tales I have read in a very long time. It is extremely well written, and the depth and richness of the characters and the world they live in is extraordinary. The authors are to be congratulated...and encouraged to publish this gem asap! - Chris - Dec-05-2006

From reading previous works by these two authors, I felt that Windstar's strengths are in writing epic tales while Zee's are in insightful observations in creating humor and depth to the characters. The combination of writing styles of Windstar and Zee create an absolutely brilliant story filled with action, anti-heroes, relationships, and redemption. I hope to read other joint endeavors by these two authors. - diss_turbed_teddy - Dec-05-2006

One of the best stories that I have had the pleasure of reading this year! I recommend this one to anybody who is looking for something fun, epic and immaginative to read. - Anonymous - Dec-07-2006

Death of a Conqueror by Lori A. Meyers
Xena | Alternative | Drama | Novella - 111 pages | Unfinished | Oct-06
Honors/Awards:  #61 in 2006
Links: The Athenaeum
I've always wondered what would motivate a person to wreck havoc on the land they were born and raised in. Or more precisely, what would have motivated a young Xena to be a conqueror. For riches? For land? For the right to rule people by fear? Would such a truly malevolent person-who rules by fear alone-last long in the job? I kept coming up with only one answer: no. I mean, don't people tend to dispose of despots early in their reigns? (Though there are always exceptions.) Caesars and Hitler's don't last long, and the malicious bitch that is usually Xena the Conqueror wouldn't make it past her second year, more or less. This is a different kind of Conqueror story. I asked myself the question: what if Xena became a conqueror for all the right reasons? Or so she thinks. I present to you Xena Akolastos, the Conqueror that lives in the real ancient world that was Greece...
I Really enjoyed reading this. I hope there is an update soon - gillian - Oct-16-2006

Excellent story! Hope you continue, I am so looking forward to the next part. Just love it that Xena is not the evil conqueror this time round. Good plot - lovely character development - well written. Keep it up! - 3creeks - Oct-18-2006

A Medieval-era tale that follows the story of two people who are brought together under less than ideal circumstances, and must learn to adapt to each other, as well as their new lives. Deception, heartache, and twists of fate complicate feelings and alter futures, and relationships struggle between bouts of love and despair.

Tomahawk'd is full of suspense and twists that will make you want to read from cover to cover in one sitting. You'll find characters to love and hate. You'll find the parents that every child wants and the ones that shouldn't have had kids. Most of all, you'll find an entertaining story with two girls you will wish you could know in real life.
beautifully touching story. i couldn't put it down. thank you - Anonymous - Mar-22-2006

Tomahawk'd the first full-length novel from DS Bauden in three years, is a story that was well worth the wait. The author demonstrates her talent and versatility by creating a story completely different from her previous work, both in theme and style. The common thread between this story and Bauden's previous books, is that readers will become so involved with the characters, they may forget they are fiction and continue to think about them long after the back cover has been closed. It is a book that is difficult to put down and includes twist and turns the reader won't be expecting. - Reader - Mar-25-2006

This was such a charming story. Love the childhood into adults stories. Made me want to go to the lake. A really wonderful read. Thank you. - magrrrl - Oct-20-2006

Dianthe Xavier, who joined the National Park Service several months following her leaving the military, was now at Drango Gap Wildlife Corridor as the new Law Enforcement pilot ranger. The tall dark amazon meets Meredith Murphy, wildlife biologist and ranger, almost immediately upon arrival, as Meri's spare cabin would be her home for a while. The chemistry between the two does not take much waiting, and the trouble that follows both is inevitable in this tale of romance, adventure and danger.
I loved this awesome story and can not wait for book 2 thanks RangerLiz for sharing your talent with all of us - Kat - Sep 17th, 2004

I really enjoyed this book, It was just great!! I don't have
much time to read but I made sure to make time for this one.
I hope book 2 comes out soon. Thanks - Anonymous - Jan 18th, 2005

This was a fun and engaging story that kept my attention. It was the first of RangerLiz' work that I have read. The plot was interesting and I found the intricacies of the profession fascinating.

That said, this needs a really good edit. I'm not sure if there is a reason for this based in how or what format it was originally written, but there were moments when I wondered if the author had taken long breaks between sections and never gone back again.

The reference to Lt. Murphy didn't work for me because his introduction had been so fleeting that I hadn't noticed his name or the connection to Meradith. And for once, the author didn't backtrack. By backtrack, I mean that there were several times when she went over backstory and I actually said outloud to the screen "I was there when that happened. Weren't you?" There were other sections where there was a great deal of 'tell' and little 'show' - including Dianthe and Meredith's initial road to love. The span of time in the novel was long but the read was very quick before the first declaration of love. We were told that time had passed and they got to know each other, but we didn't see it.

I'd suggest the author take some of the time that she spent detailing a character's bathroom and dressing ritual and spend it on character interacion.

With a decent edit, this could really be a fantastic story and make a wonderful published novel.
- roxy - Jan 19th, 2005

I really enjoyed this story and would love to see a continuation in book 2. I loved the way it started with Dinathe and her military life, and then went into Meredith in the Forrest. So many stories have the stoic tall dark UX back story somewhere in the middle. I had no problem with the timeline involving Meredith and Dinathe getting together because everything else was coming together as part of the main story. There were places where the back story was misplaced and I got confused in terms of present/past. There were just so many characters that I found myself going back several times when something signifcant happened. Overall, I loved the story and the subject matter. I had to wonder was the writer a pilot or a ranger, or both. Great read. Please complete book 2. - gayzer - Sep-04-2006

Here's a truly intriguing dark tale that might seem to be just another PI tale at first glance. A.C. Henley has masterfully constructed a gritty tale whose center is the dark enigmatic Quin McKee, a PI who does not play by the rules and yet gets the job done. She has friends in high places and in the lowest depths and her heart is something else...fraught with a world of hurt and then some. As the story opens, in crossing paths with those she once called friends after a three years absence, she now meets detective Vivian Walsh, one tough cop that might change her ways and mend some fences. But can the tall blonde break through the barriers and really get through to KcKee? Read on as Book One unravels some of the mysteries... - Anastacia - Nov 20th, 2005

Great story, I hope we have a sequel soon, thanks ? - Ailidh (Spain) - Nov 21st, 2005

McKee is an exceptional story that is raw, gusty and lives right in the gutter of society. The action grabbed me right from the beginning in this finely woven tale. I thoroughly recommend this story to anyone wanting to experience the seamier side of life. Well done, AC!

She said she'd love me forever... But forever is a long time, as Beth Chambers found out. It always is when you.re with the wrong woman. Once is her story.
I loved this one! It's simply superb!! Another magnificent story by Fingersmith! A must read indeed! Believe me, this one will make you laugh out loud so many times!!! And it will make you cry, will make you think. Such a delight and reflective at its best. You won't be disappointed!! It's just so easy for us to judge, blame, set rules to what's right or wrong, when everything is so relative. And that's one of the things this story embraces so well. It makes you see things from a different perspective, look at the bigger picture. And to quote the Author (if I'm allowed to :) ... ''Whether you feel the victim or the offender, you might in fact be a little of both.'' Fingersmith you are truly gifted! I've already bought 'hearts and flowers border' and beside it in my shelf is a special place reserved to add all the other books you'll publish! Congratulations! You've done it again! :)) - Ann - Aug-21-2006

A fantastic read. Such depth of emotion and humour. Do not miss this story. It will make you think, laugh, cry and go back for more. The only bad thing was finishing it, as I wanted it to go on and on. Please give us more. Going to read it again now. - Anonymous - Aug-22-2006

I never leave feedbacks as Im not good with the words but I just felt obligated to say something after reading this story, so here is my short comment. It's sad, funny and deep. for some of you its just another great story but I'm sure for many it will be very similar to they own experience. So read, think and stand up for yourself. A SciFi/Fantasy tale where the lives of two people entwine to continue a Dynasty based on Love and Honor. I don?t do angst so there is none and I?m a mushball at heart, read at your own risk.

Extraordinary story. Tas is a very imaginative bard with excellent writing skills. Her characters and plot are well defined. In addition to providing a breathtaking adventure, discerning readers also come away with an insight and appreciation for the advantages an open society always has over a closed society. Epic, well worth the time.

Hey this is superb! You should think about turning it into a screen play--as a film, it'd make a great addition to the small collection of good lesbian themed films out there. I'd see it if it were at the image out film festival!!! - Anonymous - Jul 22nd, 2005

Tucker Danes is supposed to be on vacation in Hawaii with her fiance Steve, and it's NOT what she expected. All he cared about was making a good impression with his boss, and Tucker was asking herself why she was with that looser. Then the unthinkable happens and Tucker leaves him, set on returning home to Texas as soon as possible. As fate would have it, she can't get a flight home, and ends up at Mama's. There she'll experience what Hawaii and surfing are all about, the antics of Furball, Ripples and Dunc, and what love looks like when she looks into eyes as blue as the ocean. This is another laughter-filled romance with tender moments and some spew alerts, a la Larisa!

Part 2 of the Peg & Allison Series
In this sequel to "House Shopping," Peg and Allison are together six months later, crazy in love, and talking about moving in together. An unexpected call brings Peg's past crashing into her present and Allison must fight to keep their new relationship from being destroyed as a result. It is not essential that readers have read House Shopping to follow the events in this story, but it helps in terms of the evolution of the characters.
This is a delightful, easy read. (My only wish is that I could read a whole book from Anne.) It's also nice to read some "grown up" lesbian fiction where the characters are older than 20 and are living and dealing with life (not just experiencing pure lesbian drama). I am now attached to the characters because I can't help but like them and relate to their realness. Anne has the ability to write in a straight-forward way that leaves the reader just enough room for their own imagination to play. I think the word for this type of writing is eloquent. - Rita B - Jan 19th, 2006

Riveting and engaging. It is tightly written and well-paced. The character development is presented in dialogue and actions, not in lame expository text found throughout some lesser fiction stories. This is quickly becoming a story I'll remember, on par with some great stories like: "Surfacing" and "Persistence of Memory", "The Nanoverse Series", and "The Growing". Highly recommended! - a fan - Dec-10-2006

Great story! Loving every line of it. Keep it coming. - 3creeks - Dec-10-2006

Carolyn Black, a brilliant academic who prides herself on her factual appreciation of the world has a chance meeting with a young woman far removed from her way of life. Jennifer Finch has a mission in life, revolving around a fictional novel that she perceives to be fact. Her quest includes finding her presumably deceased grandfather who vanished twenty years earlier. The ensuing adventure has Carolyn embroiled up to her superior intellect in a situation that could only be described as fiction. The two women soon find themselves in a land that seems lost in the annals of time and steeped in mystery. Is this merely a dream of a fictional place and time or is it reality?
Lovely beginning to what promises to be, a very entertaining story. Strong characters are emerging, and I want to know much more about them. A fantasy and a mystery rolled into one. Waiting patiently for more. - Kay - Sep-19-2006

JM Dragon's stories are never the same old same old and this one is no different. I love the characters and can't wait to find out where that book takes them. I have a feeling that all is not as it seems to be. More please. - a reader in missouri - Sep-20-2006

Awesome! It was my good fortune to read the rough draft of this story and now as I read the edited version the word that comes to mind is WOW!! JM has managed to weave a fantasy/warrior tale into a wonderfully well written imaginative story with strong, well developed characters. This story is unbelievable - I promise you won't be disappointed. Thanks JM for sharing your talent. eo - Erin O'Rielly - Oct-19-2006

If you want to read something a little more challenging than a single story arc, try this. It might make the brain cells ache with some of the names-regardless you'll find it totally engrossing. Princesses are not exactly known for their sense of humour - especially if they've been waiting up in a tower for their knight in shining armour to rescue them...only to find the result completely unacceptable. Knights are not exactly known for their delicacy and tact - especially after they've risked life and limb (well, nearly!) to rescue fair maidens...who turn out to be much less than grateful. One terribly odd and untraditional fairytale!

Cute :). Fun story, engaging characters and well written. - Anonymous - Oct-28-2006

i think i'd have to call this one 'wonderfully odd' rather than terribly... the polar opposites of dry matter of fact knight and flights of fancy princess in a prissy mood is none the worse for having been tried before, because this time the pair is in the hands of a writer with a delightfully wicked eye and tone. i enjoyed this one thoroughly. i look forward to more from this author; a view only increased by her latest work. - feral - Dec-10-2006

My heart is very much in this story. I am galvanized by the ability Ms. Gardner has to bring out deep feelings out of her characters that must be dealt with before their love can have the freedom it seeks.
Bravo S. Anne Gardner - Betty Boop - May 26th, 2003

S. Anne Gardner reached new heights, both on her latest releases to paperback with "For the Love of a Woman...etc." and in her incomparable talent for creating compelling, passionate page-turners. Once again with "An Affair of Love," S. Anne Gardner presents her newest and most thrilling novel, a seductive and suspenseful tale of dangerous liasons and family betrayals. Has it been published yet and if so where can we order it? We give this story the highest rating. - jbrobrts@swbell - Jan 8th, 2005

Most of the stories don't show such deep feelings. This one however, shows them all, just how I have always imagined Xena's & Gabrielle's love. That is exactly what I look for in a good post-FIN story. Excellent job! *standing ovation*

Mavis, can't wait to see it in publication...everyone else, go on and read it, you won't be disappointed :) - thejadedapple - May-12-2006

I just completed this story and I loved it. Looking back on some of my favorite fanfic, I find I enjoy stories with a bit of recognizable history. This story is so well done, and the characters well developed. It really made me think back a few years. All through this story there were things I wanted to happen that didn't, but that's okay because Mavis made those events turn out better than I ever could. That's why she is such a great writer and this is a great story. - gayzer - Jun-03-2006

Definitely one of the best I've ever read. The characters are very real and filled with the utmost love for each other, with a few bumps along the ride. Brilliant! - Smiley - Jun-10-2006

What a brilliant story! I liked how every chapter was started; it set every era really well. The characters were realistic and believable to the point where you really care about them, no matter what they decide to do for themselves. A must read in my opinion. - Ang - Jun-23-2006

Love is rarely perfect... sometimes it seems impossible. A young woman leaves her troubled past, determined to start a new life in a new city. When she becomes hopelessly entangled with a domineering, emotionally embattled individual, she doesn't know if it's a dream come true, or her worst nightmare.
This is a FANTASTIC story and I am waiting with baited breath for the rest of it! - Sprout - Dec 18th, 2003

This is a intensely moving story. A.K. Naten really brings her characters to life and we really feel their pain and their joy. It is a great story and a must read. - Charles - Dec 29th, 2003

This story produces addiction. I couldn?t stop reading till the end, and then, I couldn?t stop thinking of the characters. Great one. - Pru - Jan 23rd, 2004

Very well done. Great character development. Plan some time when you read this, you won't want to stop. I'm hopeing there is a sequel ones of these dyas. - Anonymous - Feb 9th, 2004

Turning tides is a great read. It portrays the helplesness in the maelstr?m of love and sexual attraction/need quite well.
Naten could have fleshed out some parts in more detail, added perspective or a bit more conclusion, such as: what of the "sneaky stepbrother"?. His machinations and the plans/deals he apparently made during his vacation are not referred to again further in the story. Perhaps a sequel is in the making?

Also the need for anonymous, strongly dominant sex. That, to my mind, could not just disappear overnight, so to speak. But well, those are just my thoughts.
I really enjoyed reading it and certainly recommed it to others!

Naten takes you on an emotional rollercoster ride with Alli and M.J. and quite frankly there were times when I wanted to smack the both of them around the head because they were just so frustrating at times. However, this story is well worth the read, but I warn you if you like only happiness in your fiction then this may not be for you. These two drag themsleves through the mill, not just once or even twice, noooo several bloody emotionally fraught times. It would be nice to have a sequal and see the characters have a few good times now that they've come out the otherside. - Sai - Apr-03-2006

This is just incredible. I really love this story. I can't believe I never heard of it before. A.K. Naten just made me roll with the incredible emotions in this story and I loved it all the way. I highly recommend taking some time to read this. It's absolutely terrific. - royuki - Jul-28-2006

this was a very good story, I could feel and see all theses chartcters in this story.... I also felt the pain and the sorrow, and the passion.....as I read each line... I was very glad to see MJ finally face her fears... and go after Allsion.... this was long to read, but well worth it.. I will read it again. Thank goodness, it had a happy ending! - Anonymous - Aug-14-2006

Officer Sam McKenna and her rookie partner receive an urgent radio call. There's a man with a gun in a local Emergency Room. As they race toward the hospital little does Sam know she is racing toward her destiny. When she confronts the gunman her life is forever changed...
The title "In A Heartbeat" caught my attention very quickly. Hmmm...I thought, perhaps a nice romantic story to read this evening to lift my spirits and soothe my very tired soul after an extremely busy work day. So, I ventured to commence reading this 'new' story to The Athenaeum. WOW!!! I read...and kept on reading...not letting go...not wanting to. I was 'hooked' very early on in this very well written and delightfully entertaining romantic tale. It certainly had gotten my attention and I found myself wanting 'more' even after completing the last chapter. This story by Ms Nolan is certainly a wonderful sequel to her first story, "LA Metropolitan"...and in my estimation, much moreso. This fictional interlude is more poignant, more riveting, more romantic, and more thought provoking in many ways. But, all in all...it's a story of...and about...'the power of love'. My suggestion is for y'all to read this one. Why?! 'Cuz you're really gonna like it. You truly are...'Fer sure!!! Well done,
Ms. Nolan...very well done. - ~Ag - Sep 4th, 2003

I was impressed with R Nolan's first offering "LA Metropolitan" so when I saw this companion piece, I was excited to read it. "In A Heartbeat" matched, if not surpassed her original work. The writing is well done, the characters are real and relatable. By the end of the story I was yearning for more. R Nolan writes a wonderful love story and I look forward to more work from this talented Bard. - Littlespit - Sep 6th, 2003

Excellent story! Well written and makes you want to keep reading to the very end. I look forward to reading more from this Author. - Anonymous - Sep 6th, 2003

As I said I would do, I read this novella by R. Nolan late last night on into early this morning. I was impressed. This is a well written story which definitely showcases R. Nolan's writing talent. "In A Hearbeat" is a beautiful love story that leaves you wanting to read more about it's two lovely heroines. And this is not a PWP tale. This work of fiction definitely has a heart and a soul wrapped around a nice story line. You'll understand where the title comes from not too long after you start reading. You'll find yourself on cruise-control as you glide from chapter to chapter. Then suddenly, it's over. And you have to stop. But most certainly, you're filled with a craving for more. This cleverly written and totally entertaining fictional delight was, indeed, a follow-up to "LA Metroplitan", but it's definitely left behind in this sequel's wake. Where have you been hiding R. Nolan? I can most assuredly say I want to read more of this writer's work! - //AW - Sep 7th, 2003

I enjoyed this bard's first story LA Metropolitan so was happy to see a companion piece. Wow! This one was even better. In A Heartbeat is a wonderful love story. The characters are funny, compelling and presented in a well balanced manner. Once you start reading you won't want to stop! Great story and a throughly entertaining read. Hope to see more of these ladies. - Beth - Sep 13th, 2003

SUPERB...ONE in a milinon... But wher is the rest????Need MORE PLZ - Keegan Conner - Sep 19th, 2003

in a word? Brilliant... - Snuff - Nov 6th, 2003

A friend highly recommended this bard's story and boy was she right! The characters are so alive and believable they draw you right into the story. And what a story it was...well done bard, well done. Any chance of us seeing more of Sam and Riley? - Donna - Dec 23rd, 2003

Great story, awesome character developement.I laughed and I cried...sometimes at the same time. Highly recommend, this bard knows how to craft a compelling tale. - Sue - Oct 3rd, 2004

I read this story probably since the first day it was posted and was SO blown away by it. And now, I'm lying awake at night, remembering the characters and just can't seem to let them go. In my opinion, IN A HEARTBEAT is an incredible story, very captivating and real enough that some of us can connect to. The emotions, the struggles..it all just shaped the story into one that touched my heart. This is a story that I've re-read several times as well as it's sequel Entwined Lives. - T.F. - Oct 18th, 2004

Little did Kris know that the traditional first baseball game of the season played each April between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers would change her life. Tripping in front of the dark-haired Erin and caught ogling to boot, was only the preamble for the tall blonde, as both ended up splashed with beer in the stands and laughing good naturedly about the accident and clean-up. As they talk, Kris finds out that the fairly newly come-out Erin has a set of 4 year-old-twins, which does not deter her from wanting to see her again. So begins what will be bound to open old wounds and make both women stronger as they find in each other a connection, and love, lust, trust, kids and trouble times two and more will decidedly make their relationship a rocky one but ultimately worth pursuing. R. Nolan has woven another wonderful tale to keep you glued to your screen in wonder!

Brilliant, simply brilliant. - Blueyez` - May 5th, 2005

She's back and with a whole new set of characters to love and of course a couple to love to hate! R. Nolan's new story is well worth a read. Both main characters are strong women in their own right and the kids were just adorable. Any chance of seeing more of these lovely ladies? - Kelly - May 7th, 2005

RNolan never disappoints! Her new characters are wonderfully written. The women's love and their struggle to overcome life's obsticles is a great read. I'm always a sucker for a story that includes kids and this one does not dissapoint! Great work, I look forward to anything else RNolan writes. - Littlespit - May 9th, 2005

This recommendation really works!! I read and reread All That Matters S X Meagher is a great writer. I REALLY like and enjoy this story. Incredible story of Love.. I also read "Arbor Vitea" I don't see anywhere under her name to where a person can add their recommendations.. So I must write it on here..... I absolutely loved every single word written in this story, Clancy the landscaper fall's in Love with the older woman Abby.... Refreshing to read, Clancy even drove a yellow Pickup truck... Breath taking!! Refreshing!!! and fun to read...You've have got to read this story too. I think S X Meagher is a very good writer. GREAT STORY!!! - carrie - Aug-26-2006

Beautifully written, compulsive reading. if you have not read it yet don't waste another minute, enjoy. - xenite 40 - Aug-28-2006

precious, breathtaking tale - made me cry :) - Kati - Sep-05-2006

I just sent the author an email, but I figured, "Hey, I'll let everyone else know how much I loved this story.". The story was beautifully writting and not full of the same old tired "blue orbs looked into green circles and long, muscular arms encircled taut abdomens, yadda yadda..." And the dialogue was superb. I have NEVER laughed out loud reading anything in my life at an online fanfic story/novel. Well, I can't say that anymore. And, for an FYI, the ONLY time I've EVER laughed out loud at anything written was when I've read any of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels (if you haven't read one, you have no idea what you're missing...). I HIGHLY recommend this author regardless of the story. If it has SX Meagher attached to it anywhere, you're doing yourself a grave disservice by not reading it. SO READ IT!! - Kye Morgan - Sep-12-2006

I haven't read a story of Susan's that I didn't love and this is no exception. Another one for the keeper file. - Netta - Dec-10-2006

What a remarkable work! Angelrad captures the flavor of Bronte's original, both in her prose and in the atmosphere she evokes. This story earns my highest recommendation. - ldp - Jun-22-2006

Okay, you have now finished Charlotte Bell, and I am awed by your sentences, your creativity in bringing the reader to the time and space of Charlotte and Jane. There were hundred of sentences that rippled across their page stirring my imagination, my five senses. So glad I read this amazing work. I recommend it on the highest level. - Anonymous - Jun-22-2006

Well deserved number one. This was a well written, engaging story that more than satisfies! If you are off put in the begining by the older style of writing...read on - it's worth it! - Anonymous - Jun-27-2006

Excellent story, brilliant writing style and well worth your time. Although as with another of AngelRad's stories (Where There's Smoke) I did yearn for more interaction between the two lead characters. But don't let that deter you, I could'nt put it down once I'd started. - Sai - Jul-05-2006

wow - excellent - raddan - Jul-25-2006

It's such a surprise to me how good this story is. This is completely different from all her other stories in tone, imagery, intricacy of language. She really captured the best of Austen and the style of that time. I highly recommend this story. - Anonymous - Sep-03-2006

Wow! This story is well written in style, taste, and in keeping continued interest. This story generates every conceivable emotion one could express.I love the characters Ash and Lauren. Their personalities are ones that a person could relate to and almost take on as your own. True to life.Exciting, keeps you guessing, what next. Light hearted. a chuckle or laugh at times. Romance, very refreshing, it deplicts the love, caring and understanding two people who are in love could have. Which so far constitues an unconditional love for each other. Being a continuing story, it keeps the readers interest in anticipation of what will happen in the lives of Ash and Lauren. A continuing story well done! (A Forever Fan) Kathy
You can hear the nice soft music play as these two meet and see the electricity flow between these two as they get to know and trust one another. I give this story a five star rating. It's one of the best reads I've read in a very long time. I recommend this to anyone and everyone. - Righty - Sep 9th, 2002

Fate is one of the best story's I have read. It has everything in it you could ask for. It will draw you into the story so much you will feel as if you are really there and that you know each of the characters personally. I can't wait to read more of this great story so I can see what happens next. - Debbie Dee - Aug 3rd, 2003

I have never been one for reading long stories especially when they are not finished. With that said, I am so glad I made an exception to this rule for Fate.
Fate is an amazing story with a well developed plot line and three dimensional characters. I can honestly say, unlike most of the longer stories I have read, this one has never had a dull moment. This story is a very entertaining mixture of intrigue, humor and action.
Nice job D E Salsbury, keep up the good work.

I am so happy to see this on the top 25 again. This is a wonderful story that should not be missed. I realize that the length of it as well as the fact that it is still a 'work in progress' may hinder some from reading 'Fate' but I have one thing to say to those that may be waiting in the wings....READ THIS STORY. It is one of the best I have ever read. - Jerri - Dec 25th, 2003

Fate is one of the best stories I have read. It had a little bit of everything in it. If you have not read this story yet then I say do it now. You will not be sorry. I am normally a lurker who watches the top 25. Seeing Fate up for the last few weeks I finally decided to see for myself the staying power of this story. I was thrilled with the story. Once I picked it up I could not put it down and did not put it down until I had finished the last sentence. Great Job DE Salsbury, hope to see a sequel soon. - Karen - Jun 22nd, 2004

WOW! Super story. Hope to see an addition. Would love to see more of these two. - Sheryl - Jun 26th, 2004

Great story DE Salsbury. I have waited a while to read the entire story at one sitting (well okay, it took me more than a day because of other, unwelcome, intrusions) but it is an enjoyable, well put together story with enough excitement to keep me reading and enough tender moments to give myself an easier pace.
I eagerly await part 2 - letterwolf - Jul 11th, 2004

I have been reading this story from almost the beginning and I say,
Well Done, and in very Good Taste too.
This story has kept my iterest from the beginning and to now the End, which makes me fell sad in one way and Happy in the next. For one, I don't think we have heard the last of Lauren and Ash. I see and feel a sequel on the horizon. :)
I feel what lead up to the ending and how Ash displayed her love for Lauren was just Ash, being Ash, and shows just how two people can really be truely in love.
Then again beyond that, I can see how the sequel can begin to develop.
Great Job DE, this story deserves to be published!!
I will be waiting to read more of your stories.
Well done, and in good taste and fashion. :) - Kathy - Jul 19th, 2004

I was looking for something new to read when I came across 'Fate' by DE Salsbury. I read the entire story in one sitting. I can honestly say that this story is one of the most well written pieces I have read on the net so far. The plot was well thought out with enough twist and turns to keep my intrest through out. All the players in this drama are credible. On the whole I give 'Fate' two thumbs way way up. - Tina - Sep 8th, 2005

Amazing story. Loved every page. - Jeri - Sep 15th, 2005

Wondeful. Amazing. Breathtaking. If you haven't read this story stop right now and read it. - Anonymous - Sep 21st, 2005

I made my partner mad this weekend because I started Fate on Friday night and didn't want to do anything else until I had finished it. When she was getting on me for reading instead of going out I had her read the first chapter. She was sucked in the same way I was. We spent a very romantic Saturday night snuggled together with our lap top reading Fate. DE Salsbury nice job from both of us. - Sharon & Lynn - Oct 6th, 2005

Fantastic. - Anne - Oct 13th, 2005

Well, this is definitely a dangerous story... I couldn't stop once I started. I read right through the night to finish it...leaving me totally bleary-eyed but way happy. Absolutely brilliant! - Mic - Oct 13th, 2005

I can't believe I missed this one for so long. Saw it this week on the top 25 and thought I would give it a try. Brillant, Amazing, Stupendous...there are not enough adjectives to describe Fate. It's a solid piece of writing. - Mary - Feb 17th, 2006

A visitor from her past jolts Laura Stewart into memories, some funny, some heart wrenching, but she needs to deal with all of them before she can open the door to allow her past to shape her future.
If you havent read this story yet...I can only say one thing: READ IT!!! And read it now!! Figersmith just striked me as a fantastically gifted writer! And this is her first attempt to fiction...go figure! It's a wonderful story... sweet, funny, with such captivating characters that we all can relate to. It is very well writen and it can reach anyone's heart with so much joy. It talks about lost love - a theme that can strike a chord in anyone who went/goes through similar situations. And it also talks about love, friendship and all the emotions and fears and insecurities we all have at some point in our lives. Laura's character has an amazingly great sense of humor, being sarcastic at the right times, making you laugh no end. I really enjoyed this story so much, so I'd like to recommend it to anyone who hasnt read it yet. - Cris (aka Poppet) - Mar 30th, 2005

I couldn't wait to see this story on the Atheneaum just so I could recommend it! I agree whole heartedly with Poppet...the story is wonderful and it is fantastically written. I actually read this twice in under two weeks!! You will not regret taking the time to read this fabulous story and you'll fall in love with the characters. Asgard - Asgard - Mar 30th, 2005

I think I might have fell in love with this story. I was hooked from the first paragraph to the last sentence. I would recommend this to anyone who has had a broken heart. You won't be disappointed. - Meg - Mar 31st, 2005

You will love this story!!! From beginning to end, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and on a roller-coaster ride of emotion. It is fast-paced, with never a dull moment, and you will surely fall in love with the characters as much as I have! Fingersmith is a truly gifted writer - witty one moment, delivering mouth-watering angst the next, all culminating in a climax of fulfilled dreams and a happy, happy ending (which, come on, we all love!!). I especially love the fictional scenario of supposed unrequited love, then discovering the passion is fully reciprocated - and Fingersmith manages to convey all this exquisitely!! She is a true, raw talent, who I think we'll all hear more from very soon - remember where you saw her first!! And Fingersmith, if you're reading this - if you publish we'll buy your books!!! From your Number One Fan! - Julie - Mar 31st, 2005

A real roller coaster...I laughed (Fingersmith has a wicked sense of humour), and I cried (touching moments, well written) and I got horny!!!! (Fingersmith can write a mean sex scene!!!). All praise for this first time story, I look forward to many more. BTW if Fingersmith reads this I'd like to email her to congratulate and comment further, but it seems her email addy isn't working from the end of the story. - sapphie - Apr 4th, 2005

B-e-a-utiful story! a must Must MUST READ! - katrina - Apr 8th, 2005

This story is absolutely beautiful. The characters were believable and I couldn't help but become engrossed in the story. I loved it. I would reccommend this to anyone. But moreso to someone with a broken heart looking for a bit of hope. Or to someone who is love, but is afraid to say anything. No one would regret reading this story. I can't wait to read more from this very talented author. :) - MSAnderson - Apr 9th, 2005

this writer is ace a superb story that flows, love with passion, a must read. - fan of xena - Apr 13th, 2005

Great story. When I started reading this I couldnt stop till I finished. You have to read this story I guarantee youll love it and the characters as much as I DID. - yinyang - Oct 2nd, 2005

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! When I finished reading this Holiday weekend, I realized I had consumed Fingersmith's stories in the reverse order they were written. It's a testament to her marvelous talent that her ability seems as polished in the first as it did in the last. Another wonderfully woven tale told with humor, insight, imagination and love. I am avidly awaiting the next story from this gifted author! - Therese - Dec 26th, 2005

I read this last too but it doesn't make any difference. Loved it! Loved the style the writer has used. Full of humor and emotion and I couldn't stop reading once I started. Thank you. - Vicky - Jan 17th, 2006

I absolutely loved every single word written....mind blowing. So much so, I went out and bought the book as Hearts and Flowers Border is now in paperback. Author is known as L T Smith, not Fingersmith. Loved the original version but holding the book in my hands and looking at the full version...was not disappointed. All of my friends have read it and all of them, and believe me there were quite a few, adored it whether they have read online version or not. Please give us more. I have to be your number one fan! - Jules - Jul-13-2006

Just loved the book. Wow - JK - Jul-16-2006

Simply terrific work from one amazingly talented bard! One minute I was laughing and then the next I had tears in my eyes. I've read hundreds of stories online and this one is certainly in a league of its own. Very easy to understand why this one has been published. Thank you Ms. Smith for this beautiful story. - Anonymous - Jul-29-2006

This romance novel relates the love story between two professional women in their thirties. Told from both of their perspectives, the book, poignantly and often humorously, conveys the unique character of lesbian relationships. More particularly, the confusion many lesbians experience in attempting to date without becoming enmeshed in the relationship.
Not too long not too short with a generous dose of angst. I enjoyed
reading this piece - mature protagonists facing an emotional crossroads (I can empathise!) in a segment of complicated courtship. Its an easy read, not demanding but with a little more meat than the average quick fic. Fans of La Tucker, KG McGregor and Ali Vali might like this as a warm-up :)
- E. - Mar 20th, 2003

I'm definitely recommending this one! Great great storyline. I just finished reading it and it was very well written also. Don't forget to feed the bard! - Katia N. Ruiz - Mar 20th, 2003

I had the pleasure of reading this story in a couple of evenings. Leslaureate created wonderful characters with real and tangible emotions and situations. Alex was suffering with the "coming out of solitude" blues while her friends, Izzy and Ginny set her up with a woman they thought would be good for her. Would Alex commit to the wonderful woman she had in Stacey or would she crumble under the pressures of losing her "freedom"? This is a thoroughly enjoyable read and I recommend it. Good job Leslaureate!
- Di Bauden - Apr 6th, 2003

In "All or Nothing," Alexandra Barton is a woman who achieved corporate success but at what expense? Currently living the life of a social hermit, deep down she longed for that one of a kind relationship, without which life would be full of emptiness and lonely nights. In walks a woman named Stacy, who could very well beome the love of her life. Would Alex allow the confusion and contradictions of her own heart destroy her new found happiness?

Author Leslaureate tells this story exceptionally well and weaves a masterful portrait of self discovery amists the struggles, contradictions, and confusion one may encounter, along the path to true love and happiness, A well written fiction story that you won't want to put down. Highly recommended. - solar - Dec 15th, 2005

A small group of survivors attempt to create a community in the post-war world.
Oh that rare breed, the well considered story. This is a tremendously well written tale. It calls for great sensitivity on the part of the author who obviously possesses it in spades. She has also adeptly provided the characters with rare depth for a novella. A lot of effort has been put into the research for this piece and I strongly suspect our author is obsessed with the outdoors - the story is all the more credible for it. That is not to say that every situation is entirely credible (I did find myself wondering when a fuller explanation was going to be given for one or two events) but considering the number of strands to the story, only the pedants amongst us would be critical of that. Nevertheless, this is a fine story with a satisfyingly plausible ending. It gets my highest recommendation - believe me that's rare! - Pam - Nov-22-2006

In this ST Voyager tale, R. Nolan has woven a tale of romance and adventure that showcases Voyager and its crew while still bringing elements that are fresh and intriguing to the foreground. Janeway and the crew while still in the Delta quadrant, encounter escape pods with Federation signatures, and faint lifesigns in one. Unexpectedly, they find Commander Delores 'Del' Ray MacMillan, hurt but still alive. The tall blond addition to the crew will bring a few surprises to Voyager, and will make more than a few re-examine how they view themselves and each other, especially Seven of Nine, whose gaining of a measure of humanity and more will lead to an enchanting proposition.
Truly loved this story. I have never really been able to get into the Voyager Fanfic due to the dynamics of the characters but by adding a new character to the cast really made the story line click. Loved it. I highly recommend it to all.

The author's previous works have all been excellent pieces and with this addition is par for the course. Wonderful job. - ellebmd - Feb 23rd, 2005

It?s no secret that I adore R Nolan?s writings; this story is no exception. It is well written, and a wonderful love story with just enough angst to be intriguing without becomming frustrating. Keep up the great work R?and we?ll all keep reading, I?m sure. - Littlespit - Feb 25th, 2005

You have cemented my fandomhood with your latest story. Wow! I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading more in the future. Please continue to write! - ln549 - Feb 27th, 2005

R. Nolan has created something truly wonderful in Unexpected Arrival. It was one of the most enjoyable stories I've read in a long time. With R. Nolan's wonderfully written dialogue, the characters really come alive to the reader. Seven is written very accurately, and the "Unexpected Arrival" was one that the reader can't help but fall in love with. It's sweet, romantic, funny?and just an all around great love story. It gets my highest recommendation. - Bardeyes - Mar 7th, 2005

this is an amazing story!!!! hope theres a sequel cuz i cant wait!!!! - krysta - Mar 19th, 2005

An excellent story from start to finish. A nice change to have Seven not be
with Janeway and what a delightful alternative Del was. - Anonymous - Apr 7th, 2005

What an unexpectedly wonderful story! It was touching,
charming, funny, and exciting.Highly recommended, even if you are not a Voyager fan. Great sci-fi story. - Janie - Aug 31st, 2005

I just have one question. RJ where were you when this series was on the air? With writing like this it would still be on! Great story. I miss these characters and it was great to see them back. More please! - Karen - Nov 12th, 2005

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my loyal readers for all the wonderful response Unexpected Arrival has received. The reaction has been phenomenal. Star Trek Voyager was a bit of a departure from my usual writing but was a fun experience. Seven of Nine has always been my favorite character, and I was intrigued by the idea of creating a story that featured Seven and expanded on the character we had all come to love.
Many of the emails I?ve received concerning this story have requested, sometimes quite adamantly in fact ;-) a sequel to Unexpected Arrival. To that end, as a thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write and share with me their enjoyment of Unexpected Arrival I have an announcement. Coming in January to the Athenaeum: The sequel to Unexpected Arrival? Join Del and Seven on a totally new adventure as they go Into the Void.
Happy Reading, RJ Nolan.

outstanding, great story, much better than the movie that it inspired, sequel, sequel, sequel.......loved the interplay between the major an minor parts, a very good and enjoyabe read, MORE PLEASE! - dusty - Oct 24th, 2003

This is my first time commenting on a story and all I can say is, what an absolute awsome story!!! Not since the Billie and Cat series by KD Bard has a story and its characters, totally captured me. It kept me glued to my PC for hours. I have never seen the movie, but I am betting that Ambrosia's rendition blows the movie away. I would pay great money to see this one in production. I am hoping to see a series of stories based on all of the characters. - Anonymous - Nov 4th, 2003

Well-written story, but frankly it was just plain mean after a while. I wanted to smack Jack for stringing along Sonny. I wanted to smack Sonny for being willfully stupid and cheating on her girlfriend with someone she'd never even met face to face. I kept wondering if someone really could be that naive.

I just couldn't wait to finish it to see how much more stupid Sonny was going to get. Not to mention how long it would take Sonny to grow up and see that Jack put her out of business on purpose. She's supposed to forgive & forget and then fall in love with her after that? I know this is fiction, but really!
- Anonymous - Nov 20th, 2003

This is an extremely well written story, which made the sweet plot even more enjoyable for reading. I can't wait to read more from this author. - Dimples - Nov 21st, 2003

An fantastic read for all, but wanted to slap both of them at one stage or another. - LuvTigger71 - May 31st, 2004

Very good story, worth the price of admission, Engaging and very funny at times.

BUT

To borrow a line from one of the characters, I wanted to scream at both of them at several points along the way "Have you lost every bit of sense you possessed!?" and at others slap them both into next week.

- -Aerows- - Dec 15th, 2005

Oh how I loved this story!!!! Sure I lost a few hours sleep and suffered through a long day at work the next day but this one I couldn't put down. An interesting twist on a classic. A definite must read!!!! Opus - Anonymous - Aug-03-2006

Kidnapped and fearing for her life, her luck changes with the appearance of a mysterious stranger, a samurai, who rescues her from her capture. Could this lone avenger turn out to be more of a danger to her than those men intent on killing her?
A well crafted and beautiful story that's a feast for the eye to imagine and the mind to see. Where has this author been hiding? - Kaye - Nov 22nd, 2005

SIMPLY ELEGANT! Perfect in it's imagery. Bold AND subtle, just like the Japanese culture. A beautiful story of love, in a period torn by political violence and enormous cultural change. An unusual joining that was perfectly balanced. Light and dark. East and West. Yin and Yang. Beautiful. (Off to read the rest of her stuff!) - Evelyn - Nov 22nd, 2005

Very well thought out story. I Love the cultural education I got while reading this. Amazing story, creating vivid images of what love and honour is truly all about. This is a keeper fer sure ! ! - Kelly - Dec 19th, 2005

Abbie Jameson needs to escape her life. A writer with no muse, and a marriage with no love. She retreats to Yorkshire in a bid to find her true self. But the self she finds is not what she was expecting. Only the dark, enigmatic Kate Thomas can help her discover the truth. Although a supernatural vein flows through this story, it is ultimately about love, self-discovery and the realisation that all we have to do is let go and believe.
Living near where the events in Yorkshire occured added a great dimension to an already atmospheric supernatural tale. I loved the character of Kate, a wonderfully brooding uber X! Highly recommended second story from a great new writer. - sapphie - Apr 25th, 2005

Wonderful! A definite must-read! I loved Hearts and Flowers Border but this is so much darker and more intense, I think I may prefer it more. The characters are tantalisingly well-developed (for me, the dark and sultry Kate Thomas is a definite dead-ringer for LL in HOD - yum!). Though there is a supernatural element, it never detracts from the hot and steamy growing passion between Abbie and Kate, so if you're not one for ghost stories don't let it put you off! The ending I think is very well done - not what I was expecting! But I don't think it could have been done any other way. Excellent! Another brilliant story from this new gifted writer - you're not just a one-hit wonder!! From your number one fan xx - Julie - Apr 25th, 2005

Excellent. What a story!!! The plot is believable and the characters are as sexy as hell! I think the ending was my favourite part. Well done Fingersmith!! Please write more! - Sophie - Apr 26th, 2005

In this second offering from Fingersmith, we the very fortunate reader are not let down one bit from the high we were on from Hearts and Flowers Border. Dwelling in the Past is a wonderful story that twists and turns and sometimes leaves your heart in your throat! I thought the writing was incredible....Fingersmith has a gift....a wonderful ability to shape an image perfectly for the readers mind. I personally think she is a master of descriptive writing! I certainly hope she doesn't stop anytime soon! Good on ya Fingersmith!!! - Asgard - Apr 27th, 2005

What can I say that hasn't already been said about Fingersmith and her writing talents? She's an awesome writer and one that I will continue to watch out for in the future. I wish I were writing this good in my second story. lol. Although Dwelling in the Past is so very different from Hearts and Flowers Border, it's just as good. And man, can Fingersmith write a steamy sex scene. ;) So, give this great story a read. You will not be disappointed. - MSAnderson - Apr 27th, 2005

it's a gud story, boring in some parts, just a little long, but over all a funny read - tarvvy - May 3rd, 2005

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Good plot and characters. I have to disagree with tarrvy - I didn't find any boring bits, and it wasn't long enough. Everything was needed to make a really good read. It was funny and sexy. - Karen - May 4th, 2005

I really loved this story and would recommend it without question. I could not put it down. Wonderful new author! Thanks, Fingersmith. - Summer Sun - May 4th, 2005

I highly recommend this story!! I read 'hearts and flowers border' not long ago and it's a fascinating story!! Now Fingersmith came up with another just as good. Different from her first attempt to fiction this one sounds rather dark and spooky, makes one wonder that with a flick of the wrist your everything can turn to nothing. And even so the characters get drawn to one another by something more powerful, to finally walk out of the dark. Wonderful! Wonderful story! Perfectly written! I totally disagree with tarvvy, it's not boring at all. And it didn't seem long enough either cause when I reached the end I was somehow willing to have more to read. Well done, Fingersmith!! - Jo - May 5th, 2005

wow ! this story is so intense is really deep,,,I wish I can discribe my love life the way fingersmith discribe the love of these two women.....very powerful..so unique . Keep up the good work ....and this story deserves a sequel.... oh yeah!!! - arly - May 10th, 2005

Had to read this after I had read Hearts and Flowers Border. I loved it! Loved it. Scary at times, and kind of dark, but the main characters were excellently described and I felt like I was there. A thoroughly enjoyable read and I would recommend this to anyone. Couldn't put it down. Thank you Fingersmith and keep up the writing! Please! - Jenny - Aug 7th, 2005

What a delight! You've seen the references in previous comments to the "dark" nature of this tale, but for me there were hidden sparkling gems. References to American music, movies and cartoons(Scooby-Doo) with the interspersed English idioms such as "gob smacked" brought a smile to my face time and again! This is one talented author!! What a well-crafted, thghtly-woven story! Thanks yet again, Fingersmith, for sharing your wonderful imagination in such a stellar manner. - Therese - Dec 26th, 2005

Definetly a interesting read .A love story with a bit of spook involved.Read it youll understand.Gotta love Kate and Abbie. The characters are great. - Anonymous - Jan 5th, 2006

What a story! So many emotions in here and it scared the crap out of me at times too. This is so atmospheric and cleverly written. Well done, Fingersmith. Any chance of a sequel? - Vicky - Jan 17th, 2006

What a read! I read Beginnings first and then this. I was not disapponted. What fantastic characters. Makes me remember my teenage years well (ugh). Young love in all its uncertain glory. Priceless. - Nell - Aug-20-2006

This is a very well written story that brought back a lot of memories of my youth. It is well worth the read! - Wannetta Wilson - Jan 8th, 2006

i think this may be my new favorite story. never slowed down even when i expected it too. simply fantastic. - Anonymous - Jan 11th, 2006

Somthing More Than This is extremely well written with rich flavor, a growing plot, carismatic characters who reach out and make you wish you were there to share the emotions the passion and the excitement of thier world. I loved the smaller secondary bard tales, little stories, mixed in with the main plot. I loved the fact that the emotions careened out of control, running the gammit from joyous to fear then anguish and sorrow and stoicism, showing a truely gifted ability this writer has with words. I do not usually seek out the XWP work but I'm so happy I didnt pass on this one. Read it and enjoy. If you are a writer or someone that is learning to write...this piece of work shows a huge talent and skill that some stories posted on the net will never have. - JLNickymaster - Jan 11th, 2006

Caid Harris is an ex beer commercial actress who's made it to the big time and can't believe her luck. A plum role on a hot new cop show has Caid sharing her once private life with a horde of press and media, sharing the screen with a temperamental southern belle who she calls friend, and sharing her trailer with a leggy brunette who leaves her tongue-tied, slightly off-center, and just a little breathless. And the roller coaster ride that took Caid from a beer hawking 'Balentine Babe' to the role of tough cop Rita Stone gets even more interesting when the show's creator wants to push the envelope and decides Caid is just the woman to do it.

RJ Nolan brings us another story from ST Voyager. It's a continuation of Unexpected Arrival, but not what you think. Here we get a tale of adventure, discovery, romance, and self-realization in the Delta Quadrant. Commander Delores 'Del' Ray MacMillan and Seven of Nine are back, but they support new characters, and even a Captain Janeway you thought you'd left behind in another time and place. You get surprises, heartache, the first blush of love, and another dose of the dreaded Put-Him-Out-the-Nearest-Airlock Daniels. Hang on for RJ's latest trip into the Delta Quadrant and beyond!
I completely recommend this story. It?s different than Unexpected Arrival, but in such a cool way. I can?t wait to read more about Kara and Annika as well as Del and Seven! RJ Nolan has such an amazing way of showing depth and small character details in her writing. - Anonymous - Jan 10th, 2006

A definite must read! I was elated to find out there's a continuation, which the author has so far updated everyday. Never read any ST Voyager fiction until RJ Nolan's "Unexpected Arrival," which I could not put down until finished. Into the Void is another awsome story from an awsome and talented author. - blazinangelwings - Jan 11th, 2006

Good start to what promises to be a great story! Looking forward to more. - cam - Oct-02-2006

It seems RJ has done it again. Another well written story. I am definitely looking forward towards the next update. Hopefully it's already finished (g) - Christi - Oct-03-2006

A wonderful story that got me hooked within the first few paragraphs. Kody and BJ are very likable real characters on the trail of a mystery. I like the way that the characters are taking time getting to know each other as part of the story and not just meeting and jumping into bed. Can't wait for the next installment! - Rose - Oct-04-2006

It's nice to read a story involving our animal partners. As usual, RJ has made for a great read and I look forward to reading more. - gayzer - Oct-05-2006

Really great story. Grabs your attention and keeps it. - Anonymous - Oct-13-2006

Summer, 1974. Hot, sticky and filled with promise. Days filled with nothing but what my imagination could conjure up, and that could be pretty frightening. Lou Turner loves Ashley Richards. Always has, always will. This is her story, a story spanning thirty years from the innocence of childhood to the bitterness of adulthood. But can Lou use her beginnings to shape her future?
WoW! .....Just................Wow!

I gotta say, that was some very special story.

Myself and two of my friends read it within days of each other, and we all agreed it was awesome.

Well written, lots of emotion, great character descriptions. You didn't waffle on where there was no point. (which I thank you for immensely)

All in all, a very good story and I say well done!

Hope to be reading more of your stories soon.

Thanks for sharing
- Kelly - Dec 19th, 2005

Once again a masterpiece!! Oh if only I could write like you!!

I say, Get thee to a publisher! xox - KTBard - Dec 20th, 2005

This is a great story, very well written. - Chris - Dec 20th, 2005

I had to read on account of Fingersmith's other stories. They were all good. I enjoyed this one because I can relate to having the same feelings that the protagonist is feeling. Kudos to the author and her wonderful work. - Mary - Dec 23rd, 2005

A wonderful story, and I couldn't stop reading it till I reached the end. The narration was fantastic and it was very cleverly written. Can't wait to read more. If you haven't read this yet - read it now. You won't be disappinted. God no. - Jen - Dec 24th, 2005

What a marvelous read! Writing in first person is daring and this author has fulfilled the dare with style. The story is full up with angst, humor, love and just plain real life. I'd recommend the novel to my Mom (she's a former teacher and a fellow reader of the "avid" ilk) - and that's the highest compliment I can give. Thanks for sharing your talent Fingersmith, you've been added to my short list of favorites! - Therese - Dec 26th, 2005

Wow! What can I say? The writing, as expected, is top notch, the characters vivid and realistic. Awesome stuff again Finger! Love the character of Ashley. Gotta love a narky copper!!!!! - Polar - Dec 29th, 2005

Read this at work ... and then again at home. What a story!! Loved it.
Everything the narrator felt, I felt. This is too good a story to miss, and I will be reading Fingersmith's other two stories straight after this. I highly recommend it and can't wait to read the others. - Vicky - Jan 6th, 2006

Hey Fingersmith, you've gone and bloody done it again!!!!! Me and my other half loved it to bits, especially its very 'Britishness'!!! Thanks for all the effort and love you put into the story, it shows. A definate MUST READ!!! - sapphie - Jan 6th, 2006

Yet another wonderful story. A must read. Felt myself being a part of the story. Wish there were more accolade type adjectives to describe this gifted writer. Loved the depth of Lou's character and her relationship with her sister.

- barb - Jan 12th, 2006

brilliant! - Katrina - Jan 16th, 2006

amen to all that was commented before, a fabulous story! - Kat - Feb 14th, 2006

A fantastic read. Excellent characters and plot. Fingersmith has written a story with such feeling and heart I couldn't put it down. Loved it. - Katie - Mar-14-2006

I love this story. Came across it by chance and couldn't put it down. There is just so much going on - it is funny and touching, and the characters are so believable (and so is the plot). Can't wait to read more of this writer's work. - Hannah - Jun-01-2006

A beautiful story that I couldn't put down until I had finished - and I doubt that anyone else would either. Very well written, with good characterisation and plot. The way it is written at times seems almost poetic. Go read it now. - Nell - Aug-20-2006

Gifted author, Amy G. (aka Leslaureate), returns to fiction land, to captivate us with a very sweet and touching coming of age story. We first come to know, Solange (Sollie), through the eyes of her teenage journal, as glimpses of her past, up through her college years are revealed. As the story unfolds, we are drawn into the sweet alluring romance of first love and its sometimes unexpected, bitter after taste. Set against the backdrop of a high school reunion, Sollie learns that even in the mists of what seems like "Unanswered prayer", her deepest dreams are soon to be realized. This is a lesson we would all be wise to learn. Exceptionally entertaining romance, of women in love, that is filled with passion and betrayal, and takes off soaring, as the pages unfold. Highly recommended reading. Welcome back Amy, and I look forward to reading more from you! - Solar - Jan 2nd, 2006
