KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Fernando Rodney was good for another dozen pitches and the Seattle Mariners were good for a sweep. Rodney, working for the fourth straight day, earned his 21st save in 23 chances as the Mariners defeated the Kansas City Royals 2-1 on Sunday for a three-game sweep. Rodney, who had thrown 46 pitches in the previous three days, got saves in all three games at Kansas City. He last got into four consecutive games on May 27-30, 2013, for Tampa Bay. "It was no problem," Rodney said. "I said I feel ready. I got warmed up and felt good, felt loose. Thats why Im a reliever." "Sometimes early in the season you have a little problem with getting loose. When the weather warms up it helps get me a little more loose," he said. Rodney dispatched the Royals on 12 pitches, giving up a two-out single to pinch-hitter Mike Moustakas before striking out Pedro Ciriaco to preserve the one-run lead. "Its simple," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said on summoning Rodney once again. "I had a talk with him and he felt good. Hes worked very, very efficiently, and he was very efficient today as well. He has not thrown a lot of pitches. Hes definitely off tomorrow. He asked me if he could go to the Dominican, but I told him no." Rookie Roenis Elias pitched neatly into the seventh inning and Mike Zunino homered for the Mariners, who have won 18 of their past 26 road games. After winning 10 straight to move into first place in the AL Central, the Royals have dropped four in a row, three of them by 2-1 scores. "Were playing fine, but just an offensive down turn a little bit," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "You go through the ups and downs. A four-game losing streak right when you had put together a nice 10-game winning streak, its tough." Elias (7-5), a 25-year-old left-hander from Cuba, limited the Royals to one run and five singles over 6 2-3 innings. He struck out five, walked two and improved to 4-1 in June. "Everything was working," Elias said through a translator. Zunino hit his ninth home run, tops among AL catchers. He connected off Yordano Ventura (5-6) leading off the seventh to break a 1-all tie. "Even though things arent going our way right now, I think were playing really good," Ventura said with teammate Bruce Chen acting as interpreter. Zunino led off the fifth with a double and scored on Willie Bloomquists two-out double. "We stepped up to the challenge and were able take three from them," Bloomquist said. "It shows what were able to do when we play well. Those guys are a very, very good baseball team. Granted, a bounce here or there and it could have come out differently." Ventura (5-6) had won his previous three starts. "He hung a breaking pretty good (to Zunino)," Yost said. "Outside of that, he pitched a great ball game. Anytime you go seven innings and give up two runs you give your team a chance to win a game thats a great job." The Royals scored their run in the second, which Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez opened with singles. Justin Maxwells sacrifice fly brought home Gordon. Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar left in the seventh with a bruised left shin. He was hit in the second by a pitch. X-rays were negative. The Mariners won a challenge in the seventh when Ciriaco was ruled safe at first for a bunt single. After a reliever that took over 3 minutes, the call was overturned and Ciriaco was out. NOTES: Royals 3B Danny Valencia, who missed 19 games with a muscle strain in his left hand, was activated from the disabled list. He went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. The Royals optioned RHP Louis Coleman to Triple-A Omaha as they opted to go with a 12-man staff. ... Mariners ace RHP Felix Hernandez, who starts Monday at home against Boston, is 4-1 with a 1.33 ERA in his past seven starts. The lone loss was 1-0 on June 18 at Texas when he allowed three hits, walked none and struck out 10. ... Seattle starters have allowed one run or less in nine of their past 10 games for a 1.50 ERA in that stretch. Josh Reddick Jersey . NORRIS COLE (Heat): Its funny, you watch a guy play and now really produce and it just jumps off the page at you - why? You put a young player with potential in a winning environment where there is veteran leadership, outstanding coaching and management and a way that things are done and its a wonderful environment for growth, improvement in a climate of constant accountability and expectation of achievement/production. Bayern were knocked out in the last four of the competition by Atletico Madrid on away goals, despite a 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday. It means Guardiola will leave to join Manchester City this summer having lost three semi-finals to Spanish opposition during his time in Bavaria after defeats to Real Madrid and Barcelona previously. Philipp Lahm, Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery show their disappointment on Tuesday night The Catalan coach said he was not concerned with his track record after the defeat to Atletico, and Koehler hailed Guardiola as incredible, but said it would be remembered that he came up short in Europe.I was talking in the last couple of hours to the fans and, okay, there is still disappointment here but Pep Guardiola has done great work here, Koehler told Sky Sports News HQ. As a manager he developed the team to a really top, top level. Guardiolas Bayern were knocked out at the semi-final stage of the Champions League three years in a row Pep Guardiola is an incredible manager but maybe sometimes the players were confused about all his decisions. Sometimes, maybe, he makes it too complicated, the easy game is not his game. One game he changed the tactics four times but at the end he won.He put Bayern, game-wise, at the really top level and, after the three years he has spent here, at a financial level, Bayern are also top and his reputation is incredible. Vidal blasts ugly Atletico Arturo Vidal slams ugly Atletico Madrid after Bayern Munichs Champions League exit He will be remembered as a top manager but, at the end, it will also be remembered that the manager is missing the cherry on the cake, it is not here.Koehler said the overriding feeling in Munich was one of disappointment given their dominance in the tie, which had made for a vast improvement on the nature of the exits of the last two years. Guardiola will leave Bayern to join Manchester City in the summer You can feel it here at the training ground; it is not only the players and it is not only the bosses, it is also the supporters who came out here to watch the training and you feel it, he said. The disappointment is very big because it was so painful to lose and Bayern were the much better team and this was the change to the other two failures in the last two years when they didnt advance to the final. Guardiola says Bayerns fans should be proud of their efforts against Atletico Madrid and that the club has a bright future under Carlo Ancelotti Bayern didnt play so good then, but last night they had one of the best games of the season.ddddddddddddThe only thing Bayern didnt get was the third goal and they deserved it and so that is why it is very painful. They didnt have the luck you need to advance to a final.Xabi Alonso scored in the first half in Munich to level the tie before Thomas Muller saw a penalty saved. The World Cup winner was left out of the first leg in the Spanish capital and Koehler thinks this is a sign of Guardiolas thinking before games. Bayern cheated by Atleti exit Bayern Munich feel cheated after Champions League exit, says Karl-Heinz Rummenigge Pep Guardiola is a guy who thinks too much. He changes his mind, Im sure, three days in a row thinking about the right tactics, what to do, what not to do and to leave him out in the first leg against Atletico Madrid was, for sure, not a good idea, he said. But on the other hand you lose 1-0 in an away game to Atletico then you still have a chance, this can happen in a semi-final of the Champions League. So there is still a chance you can turn it around and Bayern had their chance last night. Muller missed a penalty against Atletico Madrid Pep Guardiola will not be happy about it and it will be rated from the fans as not the best decision. Bayern now have to look forward, they still have a cup final against Borussia Dortmund, which will be really tough.I think Muller showed last night he cannot do everything. He didnt score the penalty, it would have been 2-0. It didnt happen and it was a great, exciting game but the disappointment here at Bayern Munichs ground is huge.
