Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - The fourth-ranked Louisville Cardinals will begin a three-game homestand on Tuesday that will close out the 2014 calendar year, as they welcome the Cal State Northridge Matadors to the KFC Yum! Center for non-conference action. Rick Pitinos Cardinals were in a battle with Western Kentucky as the team played short-handed with its star forward being ejected in the first half. However, Louisville showed its resiliency and held off the Hilltoppers in a 76-67 decision. The win kept Louisville unbeaten on the season at 10-0. Reggie Theus Matadors have not had the kind of start the team hoped for, as CSUN comes into this contest sporting a rather ugly 3-9 ledger. Northridge seven of its last eight games, including two straight. The lone victory over that span cam against Vanguard (70-58), but the Matadors have dropped two straight since, including a 75-68 setback to Texas A&M-CC on Saturday. This is the first-ever meeting between these two teams on the hardwood. Stephen Maxwell erupted for 23 points, but it wasnt enough to push CSUN into the win column over the Islanders on Saturday. The Matadors opened strong and led 9-0 through the first six minutes of action. However, the team struggled after the break to contain the Islanders, who netted 52 points over the final 20 minutes of action to earn the win. Stephen Hicks joined Maxwell in double figures, finishing with 14 points in the loss. The Matadors are posting modest offensive numbers on the season, averaging 66.1 ppg on .421 shooting overall. The shooting percentage is weighed down heavily by an ugly .243 effort from long range, as the 3-pointer is not a weapon in the teams arsenal (just 2.3 made 3-pointers per game). Hicks however, has not been victim to shoddy shooting, as the 6-foot-6 senior is converting a healthy .558 from the floor and tops the team in scoring at 17.5 ppg. Maxwell is next in line at 1.6 ppg and is the teams leading rebounder at 7.6 caroms per contest. The scoring pool dries up fast after that however, as Aaron Parks is third in the scoring column at just 7.6 ppg. All-America candidate Montrezl Harrell lost his cool in the first half and was ejected for a flagrant foul, leaving the Cardinals in a bind against a dangerous WKU squad. Fortunately for Louisville, Terry Rozier came to the rescue, scoring 26 of his career-high 32 points in the second half to keep Louisville unbeaten on the season. Despite playing just 17 minutes in the first half, Harrell still had a solid outing, netting 14 points and grabbing six rebounds. Chris Jones also finished in double figures with 10 points for Louisville, which shook off a tough first half to shoot .500 from the floor over the final 20 minutes to earn the win. The Cardinals will be without Harrell and his 16.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game for this contest, as he will serve a one-game suspension for his antics against Western Kentucky. Still, there is every reason to believe that Louisville can overcome the loss against the Matadors. With his offensive performance against WKU, Rozier now sits atop the teams scoring chart at 16.8 ppg. Jones (12.6 ppg) and Wayne Blackshear (12.0 ppg, 6.1 rpg) will also be called upon to pick up the slack in Harrells absence here. Kylian Mbappe Jersey . "I only want to go through this one more time," Crosby said Friday. The 24-year-old captain hasnt played since the symptoms resurfaced following a loss to Boston on Dec. 5. Doctors allowed him to return to full practice on Tuesday and while Crosby is pleased with the way his body is responding he refuses to put on his return. Jean-Kevin Augustin Jersey . - Chris Davis hit a two-run double, scoring Nelson Cruz in his Orioles debut in Baltimores 9-7 win over to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. http://www.psgsoccershop.com/c-4-thiago ... y.aspx.com) - Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsett is active for Sundays matchup with the Miami Dolphins. Remy Descamps Jersey . Kelli Stack and Alex Carpenter also scored for the Americans, who avoided a repeat of Finlands upset at the Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y., in November. Finnish goalie Noora Raty made 58 saves in that one, but the three-time Olympian could stop just 40 of 43 U. Layvin Kurzawa Jersey . -- Chris Tillman paid no attention to the Baltimore bullpen as it started to stir in the ninth inning.DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Colby Rasmus drove in two runs, Dioner Navarro hit an RBI double and the Toronto Blue Jays topped the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 on Friday. Pedro Alvarez doubled twice and scored both runs for Pittsburgh. Rasmus hit an RBI single in the first inning off Gerrit Cole. Navarros double scored Rasmus. Cole struck out two and gave up three hits in two innings. After spending last season with the Chicago Cubs, Navarro signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Blue Jays in the off-season. Navarro, who batted .300 with 13 home runs for the Cubs, said he has been taking extra swings to improve at the plate. His main focus, however, is getting to know the pitching staff. "Every time I get the opportunity, I jump in the cage. But right now its all about the pitchers," Navarro said. "Especially with me coming to a new team (and) seeing a lot of new faces. Its all about them. I will get my swings in. I will do my work." Blue Jays starter Mark Buehrle allowed one earned run in two innings. He gave up two hits, one walk and struck out one. Blue Jays outfield prospect Ricardo Nanita hit an RBI triple in the eighth. Matt Hague hit an RBI single and Gaby Sanchez doubled for the Pirates. Toronto star Jose Bautista, who homered and doubled twice in the first two exhibition games, was given the day off. STARTING TIME Blue Jays: Buehrle threw 43 pitches. He said his command was good overall, but he felt like he had trouble keeping his sinker in the strike zone. "I wasnt happy with how sharp it was today," he said. "I wasnt throwing too many sinkers for strikes. But its the first outing. Things are going to turn and get better as we go along." Manager John Gibbons disagreed and said the left-hander looked better than he did during camp last season. "I thought Buehrle for his first start was really good," Gibbons said. "I told him I thought he was a little sharper in this camp than he was (at the same point) last year.ddddddddddddIt showed today, thats a good sign." Pirates: Cole had a rocky first inning, giving up three hits and two runs. But the right-hander settled down in the second, striking out Dan Johnson and Ryan Goins and getting Maicer Izturis on a grounder. "I dont overcook their first outing," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said of his pitchers. "They need to get out there. They need to reacquaint themselves with adrenaline, mound, rhythm and all that." "I thought Coles second inning was much more effective, just in terms of downhill plane, getting the ball downhill, mixing in the breaking ball." HAPPY TO BE BACK For the first time since sustaining a season-ending forearm injury last May, right-hander Brandon Morrow appeared in a game with the Blue Jays. Morrow allowed two hits and one run in two innings. He said he felt comfortable on the mound and was happy to finally see game action. "I felt great. I felt on time with my delivery," he said. "I was most happy with the life I had on my fastball and did what I wanted to." Navarro said he felt Morrow had strong command of his pitches, despite giving up a run. "He kept the ball down good, threw a couple good sliders and a couple good splitters," Navarro said. "I know people want to see zeroes on the board, but these guys are locating their fastball and then working off the fastball. As spring training goes on, velocity is going to go up." TRAINERS ROOM Sergio Santos was scheduled to appear in relief for the Blue Jays on Friday, but the right-hander was told to stay home after getting a stomach virus on Thursday night. Santos, who was 1-1 with a 1.75 ERA in 29 appearances last season, is expected to return to the Blue Jays on Saturday. His first outing has been rescheduled for March 4 against Philadelphia in Clearwater. Chad Jenkins took Santos place and allowed no hits in one inning of relief.
