*Spoilers (sort of)* Hello all. I haven't been on this site in years, but I am trying to find a story that I read once way back and was that someone might be able to send me in the right direction. Unfortunately, I don't remember the author or the title and can only recall a partial synopsis; a half-black doctor takes in a pregnant woman who was in a bad relationship with a guy, they fall in love yada yada yada. If I remember correctly the pregnant woman ends up having twins. Anyways, when I read it for the first time I remember appreciating how nice it was to have a POC featured as a main character-- as a person of color you didn't always see people like you featured in fiction on here so it was a nice change. I have a friend now (also black) who wants to start writing but is a little unsure on how to incorporate diversity into her pieces without making it ostentatious and I remembered this story being kind of subtle with it so I wanted to share it with her. I've been digging and digging but I can't seem to find it. Would anyone on here know of this story, or know of an author who's dealt with the same subject matter?

I vaguely remember an unfinished story with a young woman escaping a bad situation (her husband and father in law were abusive righteous bastards), being rescued from her car stucked in a ditch by the doctor, staying at the doctor's house, but I don't know if the girl was pregnant or already having a baby. As for the doctor's color I didn't notice. It's been a while and I'm not sure it's the same fic. I don't remember the author's name and fic's title either but I'll try to find it.
As for fics with colored people as main or supporting characters I think there was a topic about it on this forum at some point.
