Postby silverwriter01 » Mon Oct 12, 2009 7:22 pm

This is...kinda long so be warned. It was a long weekend anyway.

Hello everyone. I’m back from my trip and I hope you all were good children while I was away. In case you don’t remember or know, I went to Washington DC this weekend for the National Equality March. This is my tale.

Here are a list of main characters so you don’t get confused:

The Narrator-April or I or Me. College Senior. Lesbian. Driver.
Kayla- Acquaintance of mine who invited me on this trip. College Freshman. Bisexual. Passenger One.
Lucia (Lucy)- New found acquaintance. College Sophomore. Straight with bi-tendancies. Passenger Two.
Paul- New Found acquaintance. Year Unknown. Gay. Another driver.

This story shall start Thursday night since that is where I want to start. Pride Alliance held a rave from 10pm to 2am. It was to promote alcohol awareness. I show up about 11pm. Never been to a rave before so I didn’t know about the blacklights. I went as the butch I am. I wore my hiking boots, jeans, a blue button up shirt and black vest. So I had been there about an hour, watching girls dance and grind against each other. I mainly leaned against columns, trying to look cool. By the way, yellow highlighter makes great blacklight tattoos.

You see, I suck at dancing. I feel uncomfortable and never lose enough to relax. So when a girl came over and asked me to dance I felt like coming out of my skin. I told her I suck at dancing and she told me half the people there couldn’t dance anyway. So I danced with her. I wont lie. It was awkward. I didn’t start relaxing until a few minutes in. So some time past. I talked with the only other butch there for awhile and watched the girls dance some more. I ended up dancing with that girl again. I was more comfortable so I think it went better the second time around.

Lucy was the pretend bartender (alcohol awareness remember) at the rave. She and Kayla danced very naughtily behind the makeshift bar (they had my attention the most. These girls are very attractive and that‘s all I‘ll say). Everyone at the rave ended up behind the bar with them at some point dancing. I know I did. I danced Kayla and then danced behind Lucy. I should say all the dancing I had done, I maintained distance between our hips. Lucy would have none of that and she backed her hips right up into mine. Anyway, I had a good time that night.

The next afternoon (Friday) I packed up my sleeping bag and overnight bag and head to the college to pick up Kayla since she was going to be riding with me in my car up to DC. We wait an hour for Paul to show up with his set of riders. He was supposed to meet us at 5pm but he didn’t show up till 6pm. Lucy (who was supposed to ride with Paul) decides to ride with me and Kayla. They mentioned something about wanting to read porn and I laughed and said, “Okay, we’ll read porn.” They then labeled my car the Porn Car.

You see, I thought they were kidding. They weren’t. Kayla had erotic books on BDSM (all straight stuff sadly) and they started reading them. We all ended up getting into a conversation about doms and subs. I guessed correctly Kayla was a sub and Lucy likes to be both. I said since they’re going to be reading erotica on the trip they’ll have to read it aloud to me. So they both read a story to me. We then talked about sex some more.

The drive to DC is an 11 hour drive and neither of them could drive. They both lied to their moms saying that myself and the other rider would split the drive. I wasn’t too worried about driving that long. I had been practicing for the past three days not to go to sleep until 4am.

Okay so about 8:30pm we stop for dinner and Lucy needs to go into CVS because she left her bag of tampons in Paul’s truck. I had offered her some of mine (yes, that’s right. Is there anything worse then being a trip and be bleeding?) but they were a size too big. So we get back on the road. About 10:30pm Kayla puts in Lady Gaga’s CD and very soon after the girls start dancing. Kayla’s sitting in the passenger seat and Lucy’s right behind her. For the next hour or so the girls dance and grind together with only my seat between them. When they rested for a few minutes, we passed a sign that said topless. I jokingly said it meant for the girls to get topless and Kayla takes off her shirt. I saw D sized ladies covered in a very sexy bra for a moment before she pulls her skirt up over them. Apparently it’s a skirt that become a dress *shrugs* Anyway, now you can see her cleavage. During the dancing break, I mention Kayla’s headrest could come off and they ripped if off as fast as they could. Now they could be even closer as they danced and soon they go back to dancing.

The longer the dancing went on, the hotter it got. By the end of the CD, hands are wondering, nails are raking skin. With the music and the moonlight shining into the car to highlight…lets just say it could qualify as soft core lesbian erotica.

How I kept from crashing the car, I will never know. I even went through a construction site with only one lane without any accidents. During the last song, I got very…bothered I guess you could say. Something about seeing nails rake down a neck and across a chest and so forth…well I told them they had to stop right because I couldn’t take any more. I think I deserve a damn gold star on my license for driving through torturous conditions.

The girls are tired out from their dancing so they go to sleep soon after. I drive through Virginia easily. Stopping outside of DC, I get gas at a station next to a waffle house. Kayla wakes up briefly to glance around and goes back to sleep. It takes me ten minutes to fill up and use the restroom. I get back into the car and Kayla wakes up again. She mutters, “Haven’t we already been to this waffle house? Why did we come back to it?”

I think I busted a gut from trying not to laugh. I said, “Go back to sleep Kayla.” She says, “you’re mean” and goes back to sleep. During the next hour to DC, she woke up once to say, “ I think my hips are bruised from your seat.” I replied, “If anyone should be complaining its my seat. You probably bruised it from dancing, not the other way around.”

So we get into DC around 4:30am. Only yawned a few times but I thought of those girls dancing and it kept me awake. I woke Lucy up when I excitedly said, “Oh my god it’s the fucking Washington Monument!” cause we drove right past it to get to the church were we would be sleeping in for free. I never thought I would go to DC and therefore, never thought I would see something like that ever.

The streets of DC are weird. I’m used to the traffic lights being overhead, not off on the corner of the streets. And they have a lot of streets! The letters run east to west, numbers run north to south, diagonal streets are usually named for states, and one way streets are named after old smart dudes.

So we park in front of the church. We can’t get in but know we know where it us. Since its still really early, we decide to drive around some. I type Pennsylvania Avenue in my GPS and off we go. We drive down that for awhile, seeing the sites, until we decide to go back to the church and wait for the others to show up. We walked around on 14th street, trying to find a bathroom. CVS didn’t have one. We finally waited till 6am for Save Giant to open and I waited for Kayla and Lucy to come out of the restroom. Lucy comes out and says, “My vagina is happy now.” I reply, “Yeah nothing like a fresh tampon to make you feel like a new woman. Lets check out this places bakery.”

After eating in the car, I fall asleep for about 45 minutes before I have to use the restroom. Since I wanted some coffee, I decide to walk down to a gas station three blocks away. I lock the girls in my car and stumble off in some general direction. Walking alone, I’m sure no one messed with me because I looked just as tired as they did. I called my mom to let her know I was safe. I called my mom a lot during my trip. I don’t want her worrying about me.

So I make it back to the car safe and sound. I was tempted to act like I was trying to break in and scare the mess out of them but I decide against it. I have my coffee, which I only had two sips of before falling back to sleep for a few more hours.

The rest of the day consisted of walking to the Washington Monument which was about 3.5 miles away. We walked over to the reflecting pool (the water is green!) and then up to where Mr Lincoln sits. Lucy and I want to go to the workshops but have no clue where they are. Kayla goes off with other members of our groups to see Arlington Cemetery (which turned out to be closed) while Lucy and I walk back to the church. We stop off at Ruby Tuesdays where the hostess, the waitress, and then the server think we’re a couple. I can understand why they assume that, I had been spotting dozens of queers all day.

So we wait to go into the church that night. I’m dozing in my car (really tired) and I feel my car jerk. I open my eyes to see a car parallel in front of me has backed into me. I hop out of my car and check my bumper. He luckily didn’t make a mark or I would have dented him.

At 10 o’clock we head into the church. Lucy and I are exhausted. We set up our sleeping spots and try to sleep. However the rest of our group (about 15 of us in all) just would not shut up until about 12:30am. So many times I wanted to yell at them but I stopped myself. See, those anger management lessons are helping. But, seriously, they were going to wake us up at 6:00am to get ready for Sunday service so I really just wanted to sleep.

Lol, poor Lucy. She has a boyfriend and she says she sleeps better when she cuddles with someone. Kayla and Lucy had already agreed to cuddle that night but Kayla decided against it. She didn’t want the straight guys of our group to think she liked girls more then guys (*shakes head*). I would have cuddled with Lucy (who I found out was sad I didn’t) but I already started feeling bad.

About 2am I woke up in pain. My head hurt and I was burning up. I got out of my sleeping bad and tried to cool off. I grew really cold after awhile and got back in. This repeated until about 4am when I realized I had a fever and my pain wasn’t going away. So I packed up my stuff and went to my car where I took 6 pills of Ibuprofen. I arranged my sleeping bag to cover me in the front seat and sent to sleep. 6am, Lucy knocked on the door and I let her in. I slept until 7:30am when Lucy decided we needed to go get breakfast at the grocery store. I honestly could have cried I was so tired but I decided I could get cold medicine at the store so off I went.

Once the medicine kicked in, I was fine and off we went to march in the National Equality March. That was amazing! There were between 100000 to 200000 people there marching. Signs and rainbow flags were everywhere. And do you know what was even cooler!?! Right above us, just as the march was starting, was a rainbow! Like it was a sign. (: I loved the chants we called out. In front of the Whitehouse we shouted, “Obama, Obama, let Mama marry Mama.”

Paul and I walked together since we got separated from the others. We bonded, lol. Everyone walked to the Capitol Building. The rally was incredible. While I wasn’t really close to the stage, I could still Cynthia Nixon and Lady Gaga’s hair. I really heard their speeches that’s for sure.

I’m not sure how to describe the feeling you get from being at the march…being there would make any GLBT person that they were not alone. Over 100000 thousand people there, all of them supporting you, what you want and deserve. You are not alone.

After the wonderful march ended, Lucy, Paul, and I walked back down to our cars. We ate in Chinatown where I was forbidden to poor tea after spilling a little the first try. Lucy and I decided we were going home and if Kayla wanted to stay another day that was up to her. Kayla decided she wanted to head home too so we left DC about 7pm last night.

Turns out that Lucy also got a cold and had a fever as well. She was worried I wouldn’t make the entire drive so I had to keep telling her I would. I wasn’t going to stay in DC another night. I was sick and tired and sleeping in the car or church wasn’t going to make me feel better. I promised her if I ever got too sleepy, I would pull over. Kayla’s voice was gone by the end of the night. She said it was just her voice but we concluded by the end of the night she had a cold as well along with a fever. I’m blaming the stress and temperature. Going from 90 degrees to 50 is a quick change.

So I drive the 11 hours home. That was the worst drive I have ever had. The girls fell right to sleep and I was left trying to stay awake. The few times I was about to pull over and sleep, Lucy would wake up for an hour and while talking to her, I honestly didn’t feel tired anymore. She was ask if I needed rest and kept telling me it would be okay if we would pull over. I said I’m fine and kept driving, stopping for coffee once.

Lol, one time I was joking with Kayla, who had woken up briefly, and said, “If I get too sleepy, I’ll just reach over here and grope Lucy” and I reached over and rubbed Lucy’s thigh cause I thought she was awake. Well she wasn’t but Lucy had already told me she wakes up at the littlest thing. She didn’t wake up. When I told her about it later she thought I was lying. “You’re serious? You rubbed my leg and I didn’t wake up. Oh my god, omg it’s broken!”

I about pulled over at 2am because my cold was really messing with me. My fever was back and I kept going back and forth between freezing and burning up. Lucy woke up and talked to me for a bit. I kept asking her questions so she would talk to me and I wouldn’t feel sleeping. Within the next hour I had my hand between Lucy’s thighs and Kayla was almost naked in the backseat. Sadly, none of this is as sexy as it sounds. Kayla and I were caught between two different parts of fevers. I was freezing and she was burning up. So she stripped while I turned on the air and shivered. I ended up putting my hand between lucy’s knees as a joke but kept it there because I really was freezing. She said she didn’t mind which I’m glad since my other hand was trembling I was so cold.

Both girls went to sleep at 4am again. Lucy said she was going to get a huge headache if she didn’t get more sleep. I was kinda glad since I was losing my voice and it really hurt to talk. But I also felt like crying again because I didn’t think I could make it but I was only an hour from home so I didn’t want to stop. I knew taking an hour nap on the side of the road wasn’t going to help me any. I would still wake up with a cold, still be exhausted, and still be an hour from home. Having had only 7 hours of sleep in a 60 hour period…yeah, I was exhausted but I still should have known better.

So I kept driving…and here’s the part I’m most ashamed of. I did what I kept repeating I wouldn’t do. I fell asleep. Thank god for this noisy bumps they put on the side of the lanes and the fact my car started going to the left otherwise I don’t know what would have happened…I was only asleep for a second but I could have killed us all…God I’m so stupid. I could have killed them…I don’t even want to know what they think of me but I’m sure it can’t be worse than what I think of myself.

After that incident, they said they wouldn’t mind pulling over but I honestly was wide awake. Almost killing yourself and two others scares you enough that sleeping is not an option. Lucy went back to sleep but Kayla stayed up with me. I asked her to keep talking to me just in case. I got them home at 5:30am without another incident and got home myself. I sounded like a bullfrog then and still sound like one today. I guess it’s from the mix of the cold and from shouting so loud at the march.

I’ve learned my lesson now about driving when you’re exhausted and I’m thankful I didn’t have to learn it the hard way.

April, You have no idea how happy I am you're ok. I understand how scared you must have been, and I'm happy you've learned your lesson.
I'd hate to lose you, and I don't know you really well, but I know you're a great person. The world would be a darker place without you.

Wow, April, you're quite the storyteller.... I was so deeply engrossed in your DC weekend report that I've been holding my breath, for many different reasons, to the very end. What a tale! Definitely it was not a good idea to keep on driving when you were so tired AND burning up with fever, but don't beat yourself up, just learn the lesson and please don't ever do it again. I have no idea who invented those noisy bumps you find on the sides of the road, but let me tell you, whoever it was has instantly become one of my favourite people of all times :) I'm so glad that you are ok, except for that nasty cold that you're probably still nursing. Take good care of yourself and welcome back

Kali, I feel your pain about writing a scene and then have it disappear. I've taken to writing on a different document and then copying and pasting onto here.

Yuri, Heinerway, Rosa---Aww. I would put the little emotioncon hug thing up but I'm still sick and I don't want to get yall sick too. Lol, Rosa you can tell me not to beat myself up over it but I already know I'll be doing that for a long time.

I forgot to add this into my adventure. On Saturday around 11am, Kayla, Lucy, and I were by my car about to start out towards the Washington Monument. Kayla decides she wants to change her shirt by the car and asks us to shield her from traffic cause I'm parallel parked on a one-way street. Lucy says, "Okay but get in the back." Kayla looked confused but opened the back car door. I was holding up her black jacket, about to turn it into a curtain for when she sat in the backseat and changed. Oh no, that did not happen. She didn't sit down, she didn't dock behind the car. She just stood there and wiped off her shirt (I had a hard time keeping this girl's shirt on I tell ya). So I'm looking at Lucy, flabbergasted, and trying to cover her with her jacket. Then a car goes by. Not uncommon right. Then another and another and another. Five cars in a three second period and traffic is not moving. Cars are stopped right by my car and everyone can see Kayla's girls out and about. I'm trying not to drop her jacket and re-shield her at the same time. But I can't stop laughing. Lucy said she was surprised I kept the jacket up as long as I did because she was about to keel over from laughing so hard. So now we say she stopped traffic with her breasts.

Another thing that happened was when we were walking up to the monument, this black dude called out to us, "I'm going to marry one of yall, I just dont know which one. Well, it ain't going to be the one in the front that's for sure." I was the one in the front. I guess he recognized a butch when he saw one. Lucy said, "April you can pass for a guy but your eyes give you away."

Okay, now its really time for me to take a nap. Thank god school was canceled today and I don't have any classes tomorrow. I need all the energy i can get.

Thanks for the story April. Sounds like DC was an adventure. I am really glad you are ok. Falling a sleep at the wheel is a terrible way to die.

My favorite Ex's ex Ann fell asleep at the wheel and drove right into the back of the flat bed of a semi truck. The force sheared off the top of her car and she never made it to 24. Those things on the side of the road didn't help her. Ann's birthday was the next weekend but she didn't make it. Her current gf tried to call Ann on the phone cause she knew was tired. She flet guilty for trying to call her a few minutes earlier or trying harder to convince her to stay. Ann wasn't out to her folks so she was heading home rather than staying with her gf. The trucker said the phone was ringing at the scene and a cop eventually answered the phone. The funeral was terrible everyone since she wasn't out. It was a closed casket. Ann was a cute sexy girl with brown hair & brown eyes, 115 lbs about 5' 5. She had a great sense of humor was a great dancer. We hung out together here and there for 3 years. I remember dancing with her and watching her and my Ex Sue fall in & out of love at our local gay bar. They were really cute together. She went way too soon.

So April, when I'm glad you are ok. I really mean it. Thinking about Ann still makes me very sad, but it is good to remember how precious life is.

Uhm, is it just me or is there something not quite right about this statement? I mean, specific circumstances aside, I don't see anything wrong with a girl insisting on being shirtless, and I thought the hard part was actually getting the girl to take her shirt off and not to help her keep it on :batting_eyelashes:

No doubt breasts are a powerful force of nature, more than capable of mighty things like launching a thousand ships, overthrowing kings, causing massive drooling and, of course, stopping traffic and even causing a horrific jam on a street which seemed to be pretty much empty just a couple of minutes before... Never underestimate breasts :D

So, he wouldn't marry a butch? Geez, some guys are so helpless... Not that she would ever consider the possibility but he just doesn't know what he is missing :winking2:

I totally understand what its like to nearly kill yourself and your passengers after falling asleep while driving. It's probably the worst feeling ever. I was driving myself and my partner to Michigan from Connecticut, and I refused to let my GF drive (I'm a horrible passenger, just ask her!). I had already driven us from Michigan to CT the week before, and I handled it pretty well. But on the drive back, I didn't get enough sleep the night before we left. We had just crossed the Michigan state line, I had been up for 24+ hours by then and it was about 7 in the morning. I had been fighting sleep since before we hit Ohio (the drooping eyelids... man those are the worst), and I had one close call in Pennsylvania where I stopped concentrating and went onto that ribbed part of the road that makes the car make noise. But in Michigan, I did fall asleep for a second and hit the ribbed part of the road again (I think those things are the best idea ever.... they probably save more lives each day then anything else...)

Thankfully there was no one on the road at the time, and I was able to righten the car without a problem. See in Michigan, they have these lovely ditches on the side of the road and if you go too far, you are not gonna be able to avoid a crash. Going 70 miles an hour (speed limit in MI) and hitting that ditch usually ends badly for most people... My partner was more awake then I was and she told me to pull over and let her drive the rest of the way (which I did, I may be stubborn but I knew I had hit my limit). The second I was in the passenger seat I passed out. We did make it home safely and once there I slept for ... well a long time lol.

The moral of the story is.... don't push yourself too far. The moment you start to fight sleep while driving, pull over and get rest or have someone else take over. It truely wasn't worth my pride and stubborness to put myself and my partner of 5 years in danger like I did. I drove for several hours fighting sleep, and even though it was very early in the AM with few cars on the road, you can still do a lot of damage if you fall asleep at the wheel.

I'm so glad you got home safely April!

What are those ribbed noisy things called? Cause that's what woke me up too. We seriously need to send the person who invented those a metal or something.

Kali, I'm sorry about your friend. I've learned my lesson and I wont do it again.

I have the worst Cold on the planet, well ok it's probably just a regular cold but still, it SUX!!!.. I am on my fourth day of feeling pretty darn shitty. It started as a head cold and has now migrated to my chest. I think Silver sent it to me somehow. I would have preferred the mental picture of the Traffic stopping breasts, but nnnnnooo she sends me snotty head and icky cough.. Not to mention the mental anxiety of canned cream of potato soup.. Silver Dear, I hope you feel better soon

Well I think I have the worst cold on the planet. It's also the fourth day and I only sound lightly better than yesterday. Is that than or then...my beta is trying to correct me of that problem...anyway...sucks because I have to interact with people today and still sound like a bullfrog.

But the awesome side of today is I'm going to look nice because Cavedweller/Rosa and I agreed to wear blue button up shirts today.

Thanks Hick and Tmpinsnty. Rumble Strips. It fits.

A blue shirt day, cool. My red nose will be just perfect setting off the blue of a shirt. However since I am going to be wearing my plaid PJ's all day, which are purple I think I will throw on a CD of the CLASH and have a totally CLASH day.. Maybe some KORN and Evenscence. I think loud percussion based music is the call for the day...

My eternal gratitude and undying admiration to the anonymous inventor of rumble strips :not worthy: :not worthy: :applause: :applause:
Scotti and April, I hope you start feeling better really soon. I'd send you one of those little cute hugs, but that cold seems to be contagious and I want nothing to do with it... Oh, ok, I'll take the risk :big hug: :big hug:
And if I may say so, I do look pretty good on my button up blue shirt :big grin: It was a great idea, April
