I am considering nonprofit acccounting or financial anaylsis. I like my work, but the isolation has been hard. I'd prefer working with a team of people for a worthy cause. I've been in an office by myself for the last few years and its been depressing. I have some financial skills so this would be an extention. This way I can be more creative in my personal life and work will be more predictable even if its new. That said, I am looking at a few opportunites that are at different organizations.

Kali, sounds like you already have a gameplan - you just need to figure out how to implement it. The nonprofit idea is a great one!

Yuri, the dress thing is totally ridiculous. Kick up a fuss!

Oh, and by the by, I have a bone to pick with all of you:
I am just about to finish the last few episodes of the first season of XWP, and I think it would have been nice if you'd warned me in advance that it's silly and odd and completely effing addictive! Now just you see if I get around to doing any writing in the next month or so *pout*

LOL, it only gets better K, after the first season the subtext starts to kick in. Not to mention Gabrielle's clothes are a bit more attractive. Have Fun watching.

Anything you share with us (writing) is always appreciated and enjoyed. Thank you for sharing!!!

I don't get it. How can they "make" you wear a dress. It's ridiculous! Check out this article on the subject.

Wowzers, go away for a month...or two...and everything happens.

Well, congrads Charlie on being a great Aunt. I was an aunt when I was nine so for all I know I'm a great aunt by now too.

Yuri, happy belated birthday on here even though I wished you one on fb. I have decided on grad school, just got to finish up some details like getting accepted.

Amber, pal, I'm sorry to hear about your breakup.

Howdy Mikala.

Pips, Catseye: How goes it?

Kali: Howdy.

Karen: *steals your jack daniels*

So did I miss anybody? Speak up and let your name be known if I did.

So this weeks is finals week and I have a cold. How great is that? Got it on my birthday which was this Sunday. My birthday party the night before involved stargazing, drinking, stripping, Sarah Palin, four lesbians and myself. Good times hmm?

So how's everyone doing? How's life? How's the weather? Any embarrassing moments?

I must say I get a little tetchy every time Xena sends Gabrielle away...
I love you like you're family. The fact that you're travelling with me is just damned wonderful. Now go away so that I can do something dangerous with the aid of someone I just met and barely know.

My favourite episode of Season 1 has to be "Altared States", not for the Biblical storyline but for Gabrielle-on-drugs. The scene where she pops up in front of Xena like a rabid weasel and commands the rocks to follow her in a search for Icus (who is hands down the worst child actor I've ever seen) is a great showcase for Renee O' Connor's immaculate comic timing. Also, the way she drawls out "at ease" has me laughing like a delusional hysteric every time I see it.

Thank you, sweetheart - positive comments are always good for the soul. I'm experiencing a bit of an enthusiasm dearth at the very moment, but hopefully I'll be able to work around that and offer something adequate soon.

I'm assuming you're aiming the embarrassing bit at me. Why? Just a hunch ;)

I categorically have done nothing embarrassing lately. However, it's a question of semantics - I'm fairly used to the things that happen to me so my opinion on what's embarrassing is reeeeeally skewed. Uncoordinated and accident-prone don't make a shy couple.

It's freezing in SA at the moment. We're only just in Autumn, which means Winter's going to be a doozy.

Morning K (well at least here it is)

Just thought I would mention that I laughed and laughed with Super Duper Uber Wunderbar. It was wonderful!! http://xenafiction.net/scrolls/k_alexan ... erbar.html

Since you are armed and dangerous and have a trash bin on your heard this morning I am going to leave with this thought. I loved Wunderbar.

Sorry about your finger, hope it doesn't hinder your typing too much.

Your hunch is correct. You know me oh so well :) And I'm glad to hear you done anything you consider embarrassing lately cause even though they provide me with great amusement, it usually doesn't go well for you. P.S. I loved Wunderbra too.

Good morning

Scotti wrote:Just thought I would mention that I laughed and laughed with Super Duper Uber Wunderbar. It was wonderful!!

After I'd written it I asked a friend to read through it for errors. Mistake to ask something like that of an actress and professional voice-over artist with three glasses of wine in her! She ended up performing it loudly until I was helpless with laughter, and then sporadic swing dancing broke out in the kitchen ... Suffice to say "Wunderbar" caused quite a wunderbar evening.

Thank you very much for the compliment, Scotti.

I was at work, so the resulting scene was more like this:

*Boss storms in to give order and stops dead, staring at paper fortress*
Boss: "Is this what you do with the stationery budget?"
Me: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr *snarl*
Boss: "Did you really have to make a flag from your shirt? Partial nudity in the workplace is frowned upon, you know. And is that my stapler??
Me: *schnkschnkschnk*
*Boss looks slightly overwhelmed as near-empty roll of masking tape bounces off her perfectly coiffed blond head*
Boss: "We are going to have to talk about this at some stage, Karen. Heyyyy, is that Jack Daniels?"

Silver - Sadly, after eight extremely good years, it became clear to us that stable Amazons and slightly demented hippies aren't always a viable combination. I have been an Azamonless woman for a month or two now, but it has been a loving and respectful split, and she will remain in my heart as I am sure I will in hers.

:laughing2: So true.

Well, last weekend I was in the hypermarket, dawdling in a very busy isle and poking at my shopping list with a slightly dilapidated pen. That little plug at the back of the pen gave out and the spring boinged the inside of the pen a good two metres into the air. It was like joyful household fireworks! True to form I howled out "bombs away!" with a certain amount of glee. It was only when I was suddenly faced with an isle full of people staring at me that I remembered I had my iPod on, and thus my volume was slightly more ... communal... than I'd intended it to be.
But it didn't work out badly for me (everybody avoided me after that, which I enjoyed) so I wouldn't classify it as the usual disaster.

I'm sorry to hear about your Amazonlessness, but am glad it was a respectful split and you seem to be holding out. Here's a hug anyway which way :big hug:

Hmm, lets see. I guess we'll go for the most practical reason first: Yall live very, very far away. The closest one to me is Yuri and its illegal for her to drink. Not that that has stopped me from drinking with underaged people before, but its the principle of the matter.

Reason number two:......hmm, I know there is one. Just give me a minute....no seriously, give me a minute. Go make a cup of coffee or set water to boil or something...Okay, I got it now. There is no reason number two.

So a good deal of my friends are in disbelief that I read Glee femslash. I don't know why, the girls are megahot and have lots of chemistry. Little do they know I'm halfway done with a femslash of my own.

Excuses excuses (not about the underaged drinking bit - best you stick to that one.) I don't think I could conform to your drunken "natural way", either - I end up singing rather than stripping. I don't know which is worse.

Will it damage you if I say I've never seen it? I don't watch a hell of a lot of television. However, from the clips and such that I have come across in my Net travels, they look awfully young, don't they? Mind, they're probably round about your age and I'm giving away mine :S

It doesn't damage me you haven't seen it. I mean you are on another continent. The characters I'm interested in are about 24 years old, so yes they are close to my age and you're really showing yours. ;)

Bits from my life today: My friend made rainbow pancakes.
Went and walked around downtown as a class assignment for stress management.
Survived another 3.5 hour Abnormal Psyc class.
Passed all my Spring classes with B's except for my senior capstone which was a S. My lovely senior capstone on Non-Euclidean Geometry: A Father's and Son's Journey. Did you know a line has more than one parallel line?

You need to speak up - I can't hear you without that danged doomachagoodie in my ear! Hehehe... A friend of mine watches it with great interest, and has adopted the Glee version of Journey's "Don't stop believing" as her favourite thing of the year. Being both a purist and a non-television-watcher, I'm simply horrified. But not that much older! (though some days it's touch and go.)

The walk and the pancakes sound nice. The rest sounds way too scholarly. Well done on your results, though.

Glee's verison of "Don't Stop Believing" is incredible and I'm horrified that you are horrified about it. Minus one respect point Karen and I'm giving it to your friend.

As for being not that much older, that I can understand. Some days I feel like a thirteen year old, other days I feel twice my age, especially when I look at middle school students. OMG, what has the world come to? They are so much worse then my generation. I've watched them (and not in a stalkish way that would get me arrested) and they're horrible. Those kids are messed up in the head.

(P.S. Karen, I thought of you while I was sitting in Abnormal Psychology today. I don't think that's a good thing.)

This board seems to be pretty quiet these days. Except for the copyright issue thread. That was some interesting reading let me tell you, and Bardeyes' posts. So what have yall been up to?
