This one takes place on a farm or at least in a farmhouse on the outskirts of a town. A women is living in the house with a number of kids. The kids might not be hers - maybe her sisters or even her younger siblings ? Perhaps she has come to live in this house not too long ago, maybe someone died? She has a job and need someone to come in or perhaps live in and care for the children while she is away at work. She hires a woman. The woman also cooks - I think she might be a rather good cook and she makes elaborate meals ... maybe for Christmas.
I remember bits and pieces of the story but not really the storyline - snow, hard winter, the need to dress the children in warm close for ... school ? Family coming to visit and some kind of conflict between the women, the cook/caregiver being dismissed but staying on ??
Help can anyone able to identify the fic???
