I've never had a monster...I think I might have to try it out lol I like red bull. Although right now I'm too poor to buy one lol And zoya you can just call me yuri. But if you prefer vnud that's cool lol People have taken to using that name for me a lot online instead of my real name. It doesn't bother me. My favorite fiction is Uber :not worthy: But I'm starting to get back into the conqueror type.

I know that the internet is completely international but usually when i meet people they're usually from the US. lol just chance I suppose, but I know people all over my country and only a handful worldwide.

Hi Yuri
I have never tried a Red bull . I have sworn off energy drinks but you
are right I can't afford them now either.
I love the internet I have "talked" to people all over the world.
I love hearing about life in far away places. I also think
it is great that loving to read brings so many people
here to The Anthenaeum . I really enjoy ubers too
especially the dark ones. I also discovered a thing
for the westerns.

Hello all,

I don't know that I'm a "lurker" since I've only looked at the forums a couple times. I have read many fabulous stories on this site. I'm another gal from Florida - South Florida to be specific. Thank all that is holy that I have a new a/c unit 'cause it is already getting warm here. In fact, it is a nice 70 degrees here in my house.

I've got to say, this is one of the best sites for reading all things Xena and Uber. I was surprised to find that I too have a thing for westerns. In fact, I'm sad to report that I went back to re-read a story and found it had been removed by the author. It was by Jae - "Backwards to Oregon." I found you can buy it as an e-book, but the automated voice was like fingernails across a chalkboard. Ugh! Then I went to Amazon and found you can buy it for Kindle. Drat! Don't have a Kindle and don't want one. I'm half tempted to beg for a copy! I would love to give Jae some bucks, but she doesn't have a venue for me. :d'oh:

Well, I am rambling. I'm going to attempt to be more active in the forums - so be afraid, be very afraid! LOL :winking2:

Ciao for now.

Postby darkenedkarma » Tue Apr 28, 2009 8:16 pm

There are quite a few people from Florida on this site. I've pondered the reason that so many Floridians and anyone else who lives in one of the rings of hell. It's too hot here to do anything but read fan fiction. I go outside and instantly I'm covered in a layer of moisture. The only thing I've figured out living in Florida is that Stop, Drop and Roll doesn't work in hell (I stole that from a bumper sticker). It still applies though. Oh, my name is Robin. I thought my name might be an important part of the getting to know you process. I've been reading and posting here for a long time now. It's my favorite site by far. Very well organized (thanks to Bardeyes and Wordwarrior).

My dream is to one day leave Florida for a slighly more moderate climate. Some place like Siberia. I like cold weather. :) Or maybe just live in Ruidoso. I loved it there. Here's something that I can't understand. Gay pride is in JUNE in Orlando. I believe we should rethink that one. It's too hot to even be pool side.

It's nice to meet you all. I do hope we can keep the acutal talking up. Not that I don't enjoy someone pulling out a story name from an obscure reference someone remembers from way back.

Armpit of hell...that's a good one. I was born and raised here...never actually escaped. Tried, but failed. I'm thinking Oregon or Washington state sounds good for retirement. That is a long way off for me. Well I should also introduce myself. My name is Andrea, but most everyone calls me Andy.

Adios (that is my extent of Spanish...no wait...I do know some profanity, but I reserve that for driving)

ahahahahahahahha :ROTFL:
Armpit of hell...that's an awesome one!

Hello Andy and Robin *waves* I'm yuri.
I can't believe there are so many southerners on here lol but I think youre right Robin. There really isn't anything to do in florida, when it's really hot, other than stay inside and read a good novel. I'm looking forward to that :D But you're right. Stop drop and roll does not work. Hell, I'm surprised there aren't more forest fires during the 4th of July. It's always so hot that things are flamable everywhere! And don't get me started on Christmas. Those trees are highly flamable. So much so that my family uses it as fire starter on New Years lol

Aahaha....Aliens...nice one iloveubers!*hifive* I noticed that too but didn't think too much about it lol I guess the influence of our favorite girls is definately FAR reaching.

Oh and andy? is that profanity used on the snowbirds? Cause I know that's what I use it on lol

Hey Yuri glad to meet you and thanks for starting this post.

For some strange reason I feel compelled to defend Florida from the "roasting" it has been getting. First, there is the beach (and sand fleas). If that's not to your liking there are many large beautiful public pools (like swimming in someone else toilet). And since we're talking water sports (no not those!) don't forget skiing, wave running, wind boarding, sailing, and kayaking. I've done plenty of sailing and kayaking. Of course I look like bloody red rose at the end of the day, but sleep real well. Hmm...I don't think I defended my state very well. Maybe?

Oh and Yuri, I'm an equal opportunity offender when driving. I really don't discriminate. I call them as I see them. And you definitely try to see them...if you know what I mean! LOL

ahahahhaha nice job andy. Everyone is gonna wanna come to florida now!
I'm very happy i started this post. But I kinda feel bad lol I've been Florida bashing. Honestly though...its not ALL bad. Florida is a very beautiful place. And I dont think I could move because I'd miss the water too much. You dont know how much you miss something until it's gone.

The last time I did water sports..I either landed head first in the river and not being able to get back in to the canoe. Or...getting scrapped up going tubbing(sp?). But then again...I'm not very athletically inclined lol But it was still fun. As long as you didn't run into snakes and spiders ahah.

And yeah I understand andy lol I totally look for stuff to get curse at lol even if I dont admit it...(is still in denial. erases last statement from memory). However, it's still fun to curse people out while they're driving. As long as you dont go completely into road rage lol Old people get my cursing a lot though. Which, in most cases are the snowbirds. Do you really have to take five minutes to make a turn though....????!!!

Hmm...I've landed a few times face first myself...errr...usually because I'm so blasted uncoordinated. I'm trying Yoga now to help with that. Florida driving, well we could start a post just on that subject alone. Five minutes to take a turn? Girl, you forgot the best one. Driver in the fast lane with right turn signal on for at least 10 miles decides, just when your coming along side, to finally sweep across three lanes of traffic to make that turn. UGH, gets my blood boiling every time. You can mix and match that scenario with your taking 5-minutes to turn. Visualize it...driver in the right lane...turn signal blinking long enough to give you an epileptic fit and finally, when you least expect it, slamming on the brakes and making that turn just as your looking at your side mirror to get out of the way. I swear I go through new brakes pads about once a year.

Whew, well I'm exhausted now just from writing this post. I'm off to finish reading The Conqueror's Destiny.

Ciao for now.

Ahahahahha Oops! I can't believe I forgot that. I'm usually in the passenger side though...and If I get a heart attack by that....then I know the driver is like having a mental stroke lol

Greeting all,

Nancy from Arizona (THIS really is the armpit of hell!)

Must not forget the multi-tasking drivers during rush hour. Talking on the phone, applying make-up, yelling at someone, and drinking coffee, when they suddenly realize the exit they want is 1/2 mile away and three lanes over! :surprise2:

Now you know why adult sippy cups were invented. :cool2:

Breaks, are they no an option or do they still come with the standard package on a car? :ROTFL:

Red Bull, Monster, and RockStar, all great drinks. I love the fact they now are one of the most popular mixer at a bar. As a bar tender, nothing says fun like a wide awake hyper drunk!

Very impressive list Bardeyes, guess it's true we ARE everywhere! (Even outer space!!)

Great forum, it's nice to meet everyone.

wow, a bunch more people have joined since I was last on here. Greetings! Guess I should really introduce myself (sinclair is not my actual name..shhh), my name is Coley, but most people call me Colz (and thats just b/c for some strange reason most people cannot pronounce my name, either calling me Colley, Cooley, etc lol) I have to say I used to bash Florida pretty regularly, still kinda do (its just so easy!), but I can honestly say I didnt know what a great state it was. When I moved to bama for college, I missed Tampa like crazy.

I even missed....the drivers. *gasp* crazy right? well, I have found that I can handle crazy drivers (not the snowbirds, but the speeding aggressive drivers that are every other florida resident) better than I can handle the "I-drive-15mph-under-the-speed-limit-and-stop-at-green-lights-b/c-I-dont-know-the-laws-of-driving" jerks that are here in bama. *sigh* but I graduate next week, then its back home to "the armpit of hell" (love that description!)

it was crazy seeing it put down to actual numbers how many visit this site and how many different countries. blows my mind. and as for the energy drinks...NEVER again. I was up for a godawful 57 hours trying to finish my thesis on top of other assignments. but I finally crashed yesterday for 15 hours. never doing that again. Im stickin with good ole sweet tea and water...and the occasional glass of milk lol.

I cant wait till finals are done and I start reading some fan fic again. I think I'm gonna start the Dar and Kerry series.

Holy swiss cheese!( i always wanted to say that :big grin: ) LEFT?! Whoever you drive behind zoya, are really lucky other drives are careful lol

Hey Nancy..*waves* I've been to Arizona, and it's almost as bad as Florida...it does get hotter. Just the humidity is what sets Florida aside

Guys, don't forget the drivers that are also stuffing their face with a burger and fries, WHILE talking on the phone, changing the radio, drinking something, and looking into the mirror to check their makeup. Those are the funny ones because most of the time they miss their mouths lol OH and you gotta hate the people who drive 15mph under the speed limit when they see a cop. slowing down is ok but honestly....You cant pass these idiots cause if you do it will look like youre speeding! so you're stuck....there's nothing you can do but curse them out, squeeze the steering wheel till your knuckles are white, and glare while imagining evil things :cool2:

Congrats Colz :D Next week the Armpit will welcome you home lol
I think I might start that series too soon. I've been itching to read it now

Hey Colz, Nancy, and Frostline...hope I didn't forget anyone (forgive me if I did). And yes Yuri U2.

I think Nancy's right about the sippy cups for adults. That was hilarious! :applause: I must say I also enjoyed the bartender reference. One of my ex's was a bartender. Oh the stories she would tell me...gods! After that, every time I went into a bar I would slink over to a corner then look around like I was a runaway nun.

Nancy - is it true that it gets so hot in Arizona you can fry an egg on the hood of your car? Now why someone would want to do that is beyond me. I mean you can't serve it up with toast and bacon. LOL You couldn't do that in FL 'cause the humidity would cause the egg to run off the hood. Then you car would look like a bird had a REALLY BAD day.

College - what fun! The stories I could tell...okay maybe NOT in this forum. I should write a book. Funny that 'cause I am, but it doesn't have anything to do with college - no wait - it does (sort of). More like professors, vamps, and excessive living.

Oh Florida driving...I'm sooooo over that subject. How about a new one. I've been thinking about starting a new post for the creative types. Maybe a sentence challenge. Put a couple odd words together and see who can be the most creative in 1 or 2 sentences? What do you think?? Too much work?? Let me guess, it's been done before?

Well I'll get back to reading. I'm getting ready to start "Images." I gotta tell ya I've been reading for so long its hard to find something new.

Ciao for now.
