~ The Warrior and the Bard - The Bard ~
by Carmen M Santiago

This poem depicts Xena and Gabrielle's love on a more intimate and personal level. There is no sex involved in this poem, just a tender affirmation of the love we all know is there and will never stop trying to understand. This is my understanding of it. (Although the poem does not explicitly mention the characters or allude to them specifically in any easily discernable way, I will still say that the characters Xena and Gabrielle are not owned nor were they created by me. Considering the fact that this poem is vague enough in that particular respect to be a poem about any two people in love, I do not believe this disclaim is necessary. But anyways...)
P.s There are 2 parts to this poem. The first part is called simply ' The Warrior' and is from, you guessed it, 'Xena's' point of view. The Second part is called 'The Bard' and is from 'Gabrielle's' point of view.

The Warrior and the Bard: Part 2

The Bard:

Dearest Warrior
I sing of you
of your strength and courage
of your compassion and love
so that all of the world my see
what these bards' eyes see

I sing of your beauty and poise
deadly grace
and ambidextrous hands

Hands capable of inflicting pain
to defend those close to your heart
and breathtaking gentleness
when you hold me in your arms
so tenderly
touching me
as if I,
this humble bard,
am made of the most fragile
of glass

And how true those sentiments are
my love
for with you
I am as weak as a babe
with you I am loved
beyond anything I
had ever felt I deserved
With you I am cared for and safe
and at peace

We are one
my warrior and I
one body
one heart
one soul
one essence of the purest form

Nothing matters more to me
than to see your smile
hear you laugh
soothe your pain

You give my life purpose
and joy
you give me bliss
of a most breathtaking kind

I cannot imagine
a life before my love
before you,
I existed
and with you, now,
I live

I know that my existence before you
matters not now
i believe that totally
and am reminded of it
every night
as we lay together
and you reach for me
in your sleep
pull me gently to you

As i lay there
against your warmth
and feel your body relax
against mine
hear you sigh in contentment
I know that in your arms
I am home

I know that you and I
Warrior and Bard
the oddest, most divine combination
will be together forever

A love like ours
cannot be broken
cannot be destroyed
For the beauty in our love
the beauty in you
is that no matter what
despite our trials and tribulations
your arms i find
always open
your heart
never closed

Perfection
my scarred, wounded warrior
is what you are to me
Perfection
Life and
Love
