Blaise wrapped the blanket around her Amazon lover and they both secretly slipped into the darkened Tavern just adjacent to the house. Blaise lit a candle and grasped Ephiny's hand leading her towards the bar. Blaise stopped and put her hands on Ephiny's waist lifting her up before her. "What are you doing?" Ephiny chuckled and watched as Blaise disappeared in search of her bounty...banana cream pie. 'I'm not sure I want to know what she has in store for me with that pie but, on the other hand, I'm sure I'll love it as long as that sexy beast is sharing it with me.' Ephiny thought with a snicker intrigued by what Blaise had planned for them. One thing was for sure, life with Blaise was never a dull moment. Blaise joined her wife around the opposite side of the bar. "Here...duck down and be quite. Maybe they won't even know we're here." Blaise whispered and squatted down with Ephiny who wrapped half the blanket around Blaise.
They both sat and listened to the foot steps approaching the door to the Tavern and both looked at one another snickering at the hilarity of the situation. Blaise put her finger up to her lips to quite Ephiny and peeked around the bar stool to make sure it wasn't someone coming to harm them. "Ow!...by the gods! These damn cravings are going to kill me!" Xena angrily exclaimed when she stubbed her little toe on the chair. She stopped and rubbed the throbbing injured toe momentarily and proceeded to hobble towards the bar grumbling, "She couldn't get the pie earlier when we weren't all comfy in bed...noooooo! She has to have the friggin pie now!" Xena complained agitated looking at the half destroyed pie sitting on the bar. Ooh, Mom's gonna freak! Xena observed with a chuckle looking at the pie shaking her head in disbelief at someone's stupidity for eating Cyrene's pie.
Blaise and Ephiny found it very difficult to conceal their laughs and covered their mouths to stifle them. Xena decided a different piece of pie was in order and heard the snickers coming from the opposite side of the bar. She got everything prepared and headed towards the door. "Blaise, make sure that mother doesn't find out you destroyed her banana cream pie or she'll have both of your heads!" Xena informed her hidden sister before exiting the Tavern with her bard's request much to Blaise and Ephiny's chagrin that she knew it was them hiding behind the bar.
Blaise looked at Ephiny with a horrified look on her face and they both stood up continuing their stare. "What are we going to do now?" Ephiny asked worriedly thinking about the wrath Cyrene would bring down on them if she found out.
"I don't know....it's not like we can go down to the local bakery and pick one up at this hour!" Blaise answered sarcastically and scratched her chin searching for a different idea. "Why don't you just whip one up?" Blaise asked her worried and bewildered lover.
"Are you insane? I don't know how to cook!" Ephiny exclaimed surprised Blaise would suggest such a hair brain idea.
"Yeah, that's true." Blaise answered promptly receiving a slap from Ephiny regarding the sarcasm she heard in Blaise's voice.
"You don't have to be so damn sarcastic about it!" Ephiny answered with a hurt look on her face.
"Okay...never mind, I'll think of something in the morning. Let's go back to bed." Blaise answered leading her wife back towards the house.
"No, not until you apologize for that comment." Ephiny refused and stopped.
"Eph, I was just kidding. I'm sorry honey." Blaise answered with a sly grin and kissed Ephiny to reassure her.
"That's better…now, we can go." Ephiny smirked and led Blaise towards the house for bed.
Blaise struggled to feed both Jordyn and Chayce without the majority of their scrambled goose eggs finding the floor which was no use as they both insisted on using the spoon by themselves. Blaise chuckled and watched as the two attempted to scoop the eggs onto their spoons to eat with great difficulty. She was amazed at how much they had learned at such a young age. She smiled proudly and saw Ephiny dragging her sleepy self into the Tavern towards her one eye slightly open the other closed.
Blaise chuckled at how tired her wife looked and turned to greet her with a kiss when she fell into her warrior's strong arms. "Good morning baby." Blaise replied kissing Ephiny on the cheek.
"Huh?" Ephiny asked groggily glancing up at Blaise before burying her head into Blaise's shoulder.
"Why didn't you stay in bed Eph and catch up on some sleep?" Blaise asked helping Jordyn scoop the eggs on her spoon.
"I`m so used to getting up to tend to the kids that it`s become a habit now. Then I was worried that they might be giving you a hard time, okay, the truth is I missed you." Ephiny slyly smiled looking into her lovers sexy blue eyes and kissed her slipping her arm around Blaise's neck.
"Good morning! How are my little peanuts?" Cyrene cheerfully greeted her two grandchildren kissing both of their egg covered cheeks much to their glee.
"We're doing pretty good mom." Blaise teased breaking the kiss and smiling mischievously as Ephiny snuggled into Blaise's arms resting against her lover smiling contentedly and was finally able to keep both eyes open.
"Same to you two as well." Cyrene grinned moving around the opposite side of the bar heading towards the food. What in tartarus? She exclaimed angrily.
"What's wrong mother?" Blaise asked as if she didn't know what was going on and jabbed Ephiny in the ribs who snickered and slapped her lovers leg to stop the offensive poking before she burst into laughter revealing them as the banana cream pie culprits.
"Someone ate my banana cream pie!" Cyrene exclaimed her anger increasing and walked over to where Blaise and Ephiny were sitting both unable to look her in the eye.
"Did you eat grammie's banana cream pie?" Blaise teasingly asked Jordyn who smiled and held her spoon up to Blaise. "I'm not sure mom, maybe someone got hungry in the middle of the night." Blaise answered guiding Jordyn's spoon back to her bowl who proceeded to bang it on the side of the dish making a loud clamoring noise and giggled incessantly.
"I better not find out who ate it!" Cyrene warned staring her younger daughter down.
'Don't show any fear, she'll see it and eat you alive!` Blaise told herself nervously and smiled. "I'll pick one up for you later mother, how about that?" Blaise offered anxious to get her mother off the subject.
"Well, looks like this little girl has made quite a mess of herself. Come with Mommie and I'll get you cleaned up." Ephiny replied picking Jordyn up to carry her off and flashed Blaise a mischievous smile knowing Cyrene wasn't going to give up on the pie subject.
"Chicken." Blaise responded for only Ephiny to hear and watched as her wife winked and exited the Tavern with her daughter.
"No, another one won't do. I spent so long on that pie! I'm going to ring someone's neck when I find out who did it." Cyrene warned disappointed and angry shaking her finger to emphasize her point.
"Ooh, look at my little warrior, he's a mess just like his sister." Blaise retorted nervously and picked up her son. "Let's get out of here before grammie rings my neck." She whispered to Chayce when she picked him up. "Bye grandma!" Blaise replied in a child like voice quickly moving towards the door waving Chayce's arm towards Cyrene who smiled lovingly.
"Bye sweetie! See you later!" She answered sweetly and waved goodbye watching the pair quickly head out of the Tavern and looked back down at her ravaged pie wondering what or who could have done that to it.
Blaise exited the Tavern and saw Ephiny waiting for her. "I thought I was going to have to send an Amazon search party in there for you." She replied laughing.
"Very funny! Thanks for leaving me high and dry in there!" Blaise teased shifting Chayce in her arms as they both headed towards the house.
Ephiny chuckled and slipped her arm around Blaise's waist making their way into the house. "What are we doing today?" Ephiny asked looking up at her tall lover.
"Well…aah…that stupid kissing booth thing that Salmoneus scammed us into and then I thought we could walk around and enjoy the festival. How does that sound to you?" Blaise asked smiling and looking down at her shorter wife.
"Everything but the kissing booth sounds good with me. You know how jealous I can be." Ephiny teased with a sly grin and a wink hugging Blaise closer to her.
"Talk to Salmoneus, he got us into this mess." Blaise answered holding the door to the house open for her wife.
"Thanks." Ephiny replied entering the house and turned to face Blaise. "Yes, but you didn't have to agree to it." She answered poking Blaise in the chest staring her straight in the eye.
"Honey, it's for the orphans." Blaise answered with a sly grin.
"You love the thought of being in that kissing booth don't you?" Ephiny asked offended by Blaise's sarcastic comment.
"I love you baby and would rather kiss you all day." Blaise answered sexily leaning in for a kiss with a mischievous grin on her face.
"You better!" Ephiny warned with a laugh and pinched Blaise's firm backside eliciting a laugh out of her tall lover. Let's get these two cleaned up so we can start our day." Ephiny answered leading her family into the bedroom.
The pair met up with Xena, Gabrielle, Cyrene, Tarus and Joxer to peruse the festivities before Xena and Blaise had to assume their duties in the kissing booth. The group had a wonderful time watching Uncle Tarus in his attempts to win a stuffed animal for Jordyn as he promised her the previous day. "Dude...why don't you just buy her a stuffed animal instead of losing all of your dinars on this game that is obviously rigged?" Blaise asked stepping up next to her brother who flashed her an evil look.
"One more time...I have to win this! I promised." Tarus answered frustrated taking aim with the ball to knock down the milk jugs.
"Suit yourself." Blaise conceded with a chuckle and stepped back to watch as her brother once again missed his target.
"Okay...aah...let me buy two of those stuffed animals for the kids." He replied leaning closer to the booth attendant who gladly sold him the animals to end the pour man's suffering from his futile attempts. Tarus turned around with a red flushed face from embarrassment and gave Jordyn a small stuffed bear which quickly lit up her face with excitement. "Here you go sweetheart." He replied with a smile and kissed his niece on the cheek who hugged her uncle.
"Thanks Tarus...that was very sweet of you." Ephiny smiled appreciatively and checked out the bear Jordyn was showing her who squealed in excitement.
"Yeah, but I didn't win it fair and square." He answered disappointed and moved to Blaise handing Chayce his stuffed horse. "Here ya go buddy." He replied handing the animal to his excited nephew who took it and immediately cuddled the horse to his neck.
Blaise smiled proudly and replied, "Tarus...it's not how you got it for the kids but, that you gave it to them. That means more to them than watching you win it. Thanks...it was very sweet of you." Blaise smiled appreciatively and winked at her brother.
"Isn't that a cute whittle bear." Xena cooed looking at Jordyn tickling her niece simply forgetting that Ephiny and Gabrielle were staring at her shocked by her playfulness.
"Whittle?" Ephiny asked sarcastically and in complete disbelief from what the Warrior Princess just said.
"Did I say that? I aah...meant little." Xena stammered nervously and walked ahead of the group embarrassed. 'I'm becoming a sap...must be because our baby is on it's way.' Xena thought to herself shocked by her reaction.
Ephiny and Gabrielle looked at one another and burst into laughter over what Xena had just said. "I guess she's mellowing out and getting very excited about our baby coming." Gabrielle observed walking alongside Ephiny.
"It certainly tames you that's for sure." Ephiny answered with a chuckle and pushed Jordyn's blond curls off her face who snuggled against her mother's neck cuddling her bear close to her.
"I see that it has with her even if she is too proud and stubborn to admit it." Gabrielle answered chuckling looking up at her strong warrior feeling a tickle in her belly knowing Xena was hers.
"Xena! Blaise!" Salmoneus shouted through the crowd trying to make his way through all the people to reach them.
"Here comes trouble!" Blaise replied sarcastically stopping as did Xena next to her sister.
"That's an understatement." Xena chuckled dryly positioning her hands on her hips.
"Any way we can get out of this?" Blaise asked looking at her sister then back to Salmoneus who was still having a hard time making his way through the crowd.
"Sure...we could kill him or we could hide?" Xena answered laughing and looked at Blaise.
"I like both ideas!" Blaise answered with a laugh rubbing her son's back who had fallen asleep snuggled comfortably against her neck with his horse tightly tucked under his small arm.
"To late...he's here." Xena answered disappointed seeing Salmoneus approach and stop before them breathless.
"I thought I would never find you." He replied desperately and winded.
"That's what we were hoping." Blaise sarcastically answered and shared a laugh with her sister.
"Funny! It's time we head over there. Wait until you see the line at the booths...we...I mean the orphanage is going to make a killing." He corrected his statement with a nervous laugh and started to walk ahead of the two sisters.
"I better not find out that the orphanage doesn't get the money you promised them." Xena warned following the flamboyant entrepreneur.
"Would I do that to you?" He asked with a nervous chuckle looking back at the pair.
"Yes!" They both answered in unison.
"I promise...it's all going to the orphanage." He answered guiding them to their booths.
"Blaise let me have Chayce while you go up there." Tarus offered and took his sleepy nephew from his sister.
"Thanks." Blaise answered appreciatively and turned to Ephiny. "I love you." She smiled and kissed her.
"Behave." Ephiny warned in a low tone with a half smile still not too happy about the whole situation and watched her lover walk away. 'Oh, how I hate to watch her go, but oh, I love to watch her leave that's for sure.' Ephiny thought aroused by watching her sexy lover stroll away.
They both took their positions in the booth's and Blaise noticed she had good looking women in her line and Xena had scruffy, toothless men in hers. Blaise looked at her sister and laughed with Xena not finding it funny at all who snarled at her sarcastic sister. "Okay folks....we have Xena the Warrior Princess and her sister Blaise the future God of War in the kissing booth's today. So, dig deep into your pockets and help the local orphanage with a donation for a kiss from one of these lovely ladies. Once we reach 100 dinars for each woman the kissing booths will close as we can't have them kissing too long." Salmoneus announced as the crowd groaned their displeasure.
"Ephiny...let me take the kids back to the house for their naps." Cyrene offered taking Jordyn from Ephiny's arms.
"I'll help you Cyrene." Joxer offered his help and took Chayce.
"Oh, thanks mother, Joxer. I really appreciate it." Ephiny answered grateful to have such helpful friends and family.
"No problem." Cyrene smiled happily and walked away with the children and Joxer.
"Ephiny, there is no way I'm letting my wife kiss another person." Gabrielle exclaimed angrily and adamantly.
"What do you suggest we do about it?" Ephiny asked a gleam appearing in her eye at what Gabrielle might have in mind.
"I say we make a bid they can't refuse and end this farce right now." Gabrielle revealed her plan with a mischievous grin and looked at her Regent who possessed the same look.
"I'm in...let's do it." Ephiny agreed enthusiastically.
"Okay...we will commence with the festivities." Salmoneus announced.
"Not so fast! I bid 100 dinars for one kiss with the Warrior Princess!" A voice shouted out through the crowd as Salmoneuos strained his neck to see who it was that was approaching through the crowd.
"I bid the same for the future God of War!" Another voice shouted approaching Blaise's booth much to Blaise and Xena's relief.
Gabrielle and Ephiny stood before their respective wives their small smiles growing in intensity and looked at Salmoneus for to end the kissing booth. "Okay...that ends it there folks." Salmoneus conceded surprised by the two Amazon's gesture and watched them approach their wives.
"Well aren't you a pretty thing?" Blaise teasingly replied watching Ephiny move closer to her.
"Do you have 100 dinars you can loan me my rich wife?" Ephiny asked seductively with a laugh moving closer for her kiss.
"Well, that depends on the kiss." Blaise answered teased cockily as Ephiny captured her lips for a deep, passionate, soul filled kiss. "Dinars well spent my love." Blaise whispered with a chuckle and kissed Ephiny again.
"Let's get out of here." Ephiny replied breaking the kiss and grabbing Blaise's hand to lead her away from the angry crowd which Salmoneus tried to calm down.
The pair walked hand in hand and joined Xena and Gabrielle who had exited the chaos quickly. "Ooh, look at those nice outfits Eph! Let's go see what they have for the kids. I have to purchase some for our little bundle of joy who'll be joining us soon." Gabrielle replied with an ecstatic smile and rubbed her expanded abdomen.
"Sure, the twins can always use a new outfit." Ephiny answered and held out her palm to Blaise for some money.
"You're bleeding me dry woman!" Blaise teased digging in her pocket for some dinars to give to her wife.
"Would you like to join us?" Ephiny asked accepting the offered money gratefully.
"Aah…oh, no, I'm really thirsty how about you Xena?" Blaise stammered nervously not wanting to shop and trying very hard to find a way out of it.
"Oh, yeah very thirsty, we'll see you two in a few minutes." Xena answered with a sly grin as both her and Blaise quickly headed off towards a portable beverage stand.
"They certainly hate shopping don't they?" Gabrielle asked with a laugh heading over to the peddlers table with Ephiny walking beside her.
"Well, I'm not too keen on shopping, but the kids do need some new clothes." Ephiny answered with a smile stopping at the table to check out the clothing the peddler had to offer.
"Not me, I can shop till I drop!" Gabrielle answered with a laugh shared by Ephiny.
"Great idea to get us out of there Blaise. I hate to shop!" Xena replied relieved accepting the drink Blaise purchased for her.
"What are sister's for anyway?" Blaise answered with a laugh sipping her cold beverage.
"I owe you one then little sister!" Xena chuckled. "I'll be back in a few, nature calls."
"Good luck, I hope everything comes out alright." Blaise teased watching her sister walk away.
"Well, well…what do we have here?" A scruffy man asked tauntingly approaching Gabrielle and Ephiny along with his two other friends.
"Nothing you want to concern yourself with mister." Ephiny answered angry at his attitude striking a defiant pose in front of him.
"It looks like we have a couple of Amazons here boys." The man answered with a laugh shared by his men. "I'm sure I've got plenty you should concern yourself with lady. He answered sarcastically and wiggled his eyebrows.
"I think you're confused with someone who gives a damn about what you say you have." Ephiny retorted angrily and moved closer to the man seriously wanting to put him in his place.
"Come on Ephiny let's go find Xena and Blaise." Gabrielle replied putting her hand on her Regent's arm in an attempt to get her to back down.
"Oh, look we have the Queen and her little sidekick Regent of the Amazons boys. The two wenches who lay with Xena and her sister the heir apparent to Ares." He teased in a condescending way strutting closer to Ephiny who had moved closer to him.
"That's right and this little sidekick will be more than happy to kick your ass!" Ephiny angrily shouted and confidently boasted.
Blaise heard Ephiny and turned to see what was going on dropping her mug before walking towards her wife. "Who do you bitches think you are talking to us that way? You two are nothing but no good amazon filth who breed bastard children!" The man snarled at Ephiny just as Blaise approached.
Blaise lost her temper as Ephiny already had by what he said and grabbed the man by the throat before Ephiny had a chance to his friends approaching with Ephiny quickly dropping them in their place. "You'll apologize to my wife, to Gabrielle, to me and our children or I'll snap your neck." Blaise ordered growing more angry.
"I'm not apologizing for anything you scumbag!" The man shouted and spit at Blaise who tightened her grip on his throat avoiding the offending sputum.
"By the Gods Blaise you're going to kill him. Let him go." Gabrielle pleaded desperately seeing no need for such violence over a stupid remark as she saw it.
"Not until I get my apology from this jerk." Blaise snarled tightening her grip her eyes dark with hatred as the man desperately tried unsuccessfully to pry Blaise's fingers off his throat choking from her tightening grip.
"Ephiny…stop her!" Gabrielle pleaded to her Regent who stood by watching.
"No, he deserves it Gabrielle." Ephiny answered angrily and looked at her Queen. She was caught between a chariot and a hard place with this situation. She was not about to swallow her pride and allow this pig to trash talk her nation, family and friends.
"He deserves to die because he's ignorant and said some nasty things? Stop her." Gabrielle demanded.
"I can't Gabrielle." Ephiny answered angrily.
"Yes, you can and you will. I order you as your Queen to stop this travesty." Gabrielle demanded growing more agitated.
"Don't do this to me Gabrielle." Ephiny asked pleadingly not wanting to be torn between her Queen's orders and her wife.
"You know I'm right. Ephiny…now, follow your orders. Gabrielle insisted.
Blaise demanded the apology again which she didn't receive and watched as the man began to drift off into unconsciousness. "Blaise…please let him go." Ephiny asked putting her hand on Blaise's strong arm to calm her and hope she would let go.
Blaise looked at her wife in disbelief and then focused on the scumbag before her. "No, I want my apology." She answered defiantly and didn't want to be deterred from her goal.
"Blaise…let him go! Now!" Ephiny demanded stepping between him and Blaise finally breaking the grip with the man falling in a heap to the ground gasping for the air he desperately needed.
Blaise's glare cut through Ephiny like a dagger. She had never seen her more livid with her than at that moment. She regretted the fact that she sided with her Queen rather than her wife but, she was following her orders whether she agreed with them or not. She was pissed at Gabrielle for putting her in that position and pissed at the scumbag for putting her there in the first place. She would love nothing more than to have beat the snot out of him herself, but her Queen gave her orders which she had to follow…the orders she now regretted following.
"I can't believe you just did that Ephiny." Blaise answered angrily and bewildered walking past Ephiny squatting before the man who held his throat still gasping for air. "You're lucky assface!" Blaise shouted angrily and slapped the man across the face who flew into his friends from the force of the blow as Blaise began to walk away letting Gabrielle know exactly how mad at her she was for interfering before walking away.
"Blaise wait!" Ephiny shouted and ran to Blaise's side holding her arm to stop her. "Please…stop." Ephiny asked stopping when Blaise did and turned to her.
"Why Ephiny? What do you have to say to me that will make any of this better? Huh? You're sorry?" Blaise asked angrily moving closer to her wife her blue eyes darkened with rage. "If that's what you have to say then save it because you've made your decision of your Queen and your Amazons over your family so, go back to her side." Blaise shouted angrily and waved Ephiny away towards Gabrielle and walked away.
"Blaise…please." Ephiny pleaded her tears beginning to form when she saw the pain she had caused Blaise.
"Blaise! Blaise!" Tarus shouted and saw his sister turn towards him.
"What's wrong?" Blaise asked worriedly as her brother rushed to her.
"It's the kids and mother." He spit out breathless from running.
"What about the kids and mother?" Blaise asked fearful something bad happened to them and grasped her brothers shoulders staring deeply in his familiar blue eyes as Xena approached wondering what was happening.
"They are gone and Joxer's hurt pretty bad." He mustered out through his gasps.
"What?!" Ephiny asked nervously and worriedly approaching him.
"I don't know what happened, but they were gone when I went back to the Tavern which is trashed and saw Joxer out cold there. I've got one of mother's helper's with him." Tarus explained the best he could.
"Who would have done this?" Gabrielle asked concerned for everyone and is disbelief.
"I know who…I need to talk to Joxer." Blaise answered angrily knowing exactly who had her kids and mother. She ran towards the Tavern as quickly as possible with Xena being the only one who was able to keep pace with her. She burst through the door and rushed to Joxer's side. "Joxer, wake up…Jox, come on." Blaise pleaded gently slapping his face to wake him.
Joxer's eyes struggled to open and finally did…briefly. "Blaise." He weakly replied trying to keep his eyes open.
"Who did this?" Blaise asked holding his head up.
"Ares…I tried to stop him but…" He meekly answered before drifting back into unconsciousness.
Blaise gently put his head back down. "Thanks buddy…I'm sure you tried." She appreciatively replied and patted his chest before standing as everyone else made their way into the tavern.
"What's going on?" Ephiny shouted frantic with worry about her children.
"My father took them and I'm taking him down once and for all." Blaise coldly stated walking towards the door.
"I'm going with you." Xena answered following her sister towards the door.
"I am too!" Ephiny shouted and ran to Blaise's side.
"No! You stay here with your Queen or your Amazons!" Blaise glared angrily at her wife.
"Look Blaise! I know you're pissed at me, but they're my children too and I'm going!" Ephiny angrily shouted back.
"So, now you give a damn about your family and not your Queen?" Blaise shot back quickly receiving a slap across the face that was so quick she had no time to react or even realize it was coming.
Blaise flipped her hair back and turned to Ephiny with rage in her blue eyes tasting the metallic taste of blood from biting her tongue from the slap. Not only had her wife betrayed her by siding with her Queen she just slapped her across the face. She felt anger, rage, betrayal and pain the same she felt every time her father used her for his selfish schemes.
Xena and Gabrielle stood in a state of shock as did Ephiny from what she had just done to the woman she loves so much. She feared what Blaise might do when she looked into her once blue eyes seeing nothing but rage and betrayal there…a total stranger.
