I sit here and think of a time long ago.
You were so little a long way to grow.
Now you are a man with a life of your own.
Going off to war in a country not your own.
I think back and remember you as a small child.
Running, jumping and laughing all the while.

Will you come home the same as you are leaving to go?
Or will this war change you into someone I don't know.
As I watch you leave and hug you one more time.
I can not help but think will it be for the last time.
Wars are no good no one wins.
We all lose something in the end.

I sit here and remember a simpler time.
When all I had to worry about is if you where home on time.
Now I watch and worry as you walk away.
Wondering if I will get to watch you grow anymore from this day.
Will you get to marry and have children of your own?
Or will this war claim you, as it's own.
