Fear, Anger, Pain

By Debbie Dee

Fear of the unknown.
Wanting to lash out in pain.
Anger at the unfairness.

Feelings of helplessness rain.

Trying to hide the fear.
That you feel deep inside.
Trying to keep the anger in.
That you just want to fly.

The pain of the unknown.
Will your loved one be safe?
The fear of him leaving.
You want nothing more than.
To keep him safe.

But he has a duty to do.
You must let him go.
Show him how proud you are.
Of him standing so tall.

Show him no fear.
As you say good-bye.
The pain of having to wait.
As the months go by.

Down deep your insides shake.
Fear, pain, anger you feel.
Wondering if all of this is a dream.
But you know it is all very real.

You count down the months.
You count down the hours.
Till you feel his hug once more.
Hear the beat of his heart.

To know he came home safe.
To his loved ones once more.
Fear, pain, anger.
To be put away once again.
