Alissa traced her lips with a feathery light touch of her fingers, reliving the same fantasy she had constructed in her mind and sighed deeply. Falling hopelessly into the whimsical imagination of her dream lover, the hazel eyed young woman allowed a small smile to spread. She was so caught up in her daydream Alissa was startled when someone bumped into her.
"Oh, excuse me." The slightly taller woman turned and noticed the light haired Alissa lose her balance. Grabbing the young woman by both arms, the blonde pulled her upright.
Hunter green eyes captured willing hazel ones and a fire swept the plains of their bodies. Their breaths quickened and hearts raced in tandem as if two long lost friends rekindled a blaze of unquenched need, simmering just below the surface. But after a moment's hesitation, the urgent longing struggled to remember and found something was missing. Frantic eyes searched for the key to unlock the dormant love that beckoned to be released.
Alissa's arms tingled where the other woman touched her skin. "I.. I'm sorry I didn't see you."
On the busy street in downtown Dallas, Gina kept a firm grip on the woman across from her. "Hi." A goofy grin perched hopelessly on her face as her green eyes scanned the beautiful face of the woman she was still holding. Her fingers covertly caressed the smooth supple skin that quivered under her touch.
Finding a brief reprieve from the hungry grazing green eyes of her savior, Alissa stood taller, noticing every one passing them by. "Er, green."
A small smirk propped up on Gina's face just before she waggled her eyebrows. "My eyes." Happy to know the other woman took notice.
"No. I mean.. yes. They are." Alissa succumbed to the gaze and swallowed hard. Nodding her head, she motioned toward the street. "The light… it's green."
Gina finally realized that what the woman her hands refused to let go of was saying. "Yeah." Looking around quickly, Gina slid her hand down Alissa's arm and gave it a tiny jerk. "Come on."
Alissa jumped forward, catching up with the woman guiding her across the street. "Are you… in the habit of taking charge so easily?" She never liked being forced to do anything even as a child.
Gina swung around and cocked a challenging eyebrow. "When I know what I want."
Alissa was about to protest but the heavens opened up with a deluge and now she clung to Gina's hand. She was still gripping that same hand after the reached the other side of the street. Whipping her head around as she searched for a dry place to escape to, Alissa heaved in distress before turning her soft pleading hazel eyes toward the blonde. "Do something." She commanded softly.
The wind blown rain slapped them in the face so without hesitation, the blonde wrapped her arm around Alissa, guiding her to a secluded and dry area.
The shelter made a nice little cubbyhole for them, away from the pelting rain and whipping cold wind. The street was nearly empty as pedestrians found cover and cars pulled to a stop in the midst of this deluge.
A booming sound thundered through the sky while lightning flashed out of the clouds. Semi-darkness surrounded them as they hovered together, keeping each other warm.
Alissa grinned at the other woman. "Thank you."
"No need for thanks." She shivered closer to the other woman, standing side by side. "The way I see it we're both helping each other."
I will stand beside her, not in front of or behind. Alissa remembered a quote from something she read a long time ago. She smiled, feeling a sense of belonging.
Gina studied the other woman's sweet expression for a long moment, not saying a word until finally she had to ask. "Something on your mind?"
Alissa's mind stormed with thoughts propelled by the feelings swelling up inside her. The slight chill of the wind and rain made her shiver. One thought kept running through Alissa's mind. My whole life, I've dreamed of a great love. Alissa could no longer keep the secret she felt bubble up inside. It was now or never. When a shy hazel glance graced Gina, the world around them disappeared.
That was the moment of reckoning. It was as if the heavens opened up and where there had once been darkness and unknowing now the light shone brightly and all became known. What transcended between them in that moment made its eternal connection burst from its place of hiding and thunder loudly that it had arrived.
A trembling hand reached up. A breath was held. A heart raced and a magnitude of emotions spiraled. Finally, Gina's eyes asked the unspoken question as her fingers touched the outline of Alissa's soft lips. Alissa leaned into the feathery light tough and sighed. Her hazel eyes glanced quickly from siren green eyes to the waiting lips of Gina.
Only a breath away, Alissa's lips paused. Her knees weakened at the thought of Gina's lips on hers and what she heard next caused her heart to skip a beat.
"Alissa?" Gina saw the perplexing look written on the other woman's face. When Alissa's face widened with a smile at the sound of her name being uttered, Gina relaxed and closed the distance between them.
Their lips touched off a fiery spark, sweeping a blaze over sensitive skin. The softness melted together, fitting perfectly. The curvature of their bodies molded together. Gina's lips parted slightly, allowing the very tip of her tongue to brush across Alissa's delicious mouth.
The welcoming touch beckoned Alissa's own lips to part. The kiss was sweet and gentle and soft. It was like ice cream melting on the cone. Delicious. Alissa's fingertips stroked the smooth skin along Gina's cheek, sparking multi-shivers to arrow through her whole body.
Gina needed more and stepped closer. When Gina took the other woman in her arms, Alissa felt what is was like to be embraced in the safest place on Earth. It was a forever moment. One that she would cherish for a lifetime. The soft yet strong feel of Gina's arms wrapped around her soothed away any doubts that might have been at one time in Alissa's life, caressing her as the kiss continued.
In fluid movement, their lips danced in a sensual rhythm. Lips that caressed and softly brushed against each other licked the flames of love that had lay dormant for much too long.
As the unsuspecting world revolved around them, that kiss became their world. With that kiss, they became each other's world.
After the downpour dribbled to a slight mist, Alissa and Gina walked hand in hand down the wet Dallas street into their future.
Many years later, a small, eager crowd of young children gathered around Alissa for her nightly storytelling. She gazed on her grandchildren with loving hazel eyes. It seemed like the hundredth time she had told this story to them and they never ceased being totally captivated. When a hand softly touched her shoulder, Alissa placed her own hand over it. Gina was her rock. Gina was her port in the storms of life. Gina was Alissa's one true course. The connection between them would last throughout eternity. Alissa drew in one last breath before concluding her story. "…and my whole life changed with that kiss."
The End
