ACT: 1 SCENE: 1

ARES DECIDED TO TAKE SOME TIME OFF FROM HIS DUTY AS THE GOD OF WAR, HE GREW WEARY OF DOING THE SAMETHING OVER AND OVER EVERYDAY. HE DESERVED A BREAK

Follower: Great ARES, we await your instructions.

ARES: There won't be any for awhile.

Follower: My Lord.

ARES: Strife, Discord, Diemos

Strife: Yes.

ARES: I am going to take some time off. I don't want you to cause any trouble while I'm gone.

Discord: ARES that isn't like you.

ARES: You heard me.

SO HE APPEARED TO HERCULES.

Hercules: What do you want ARES?

ARES: Such hostility, then I don't blame you.

Hercules: What do you want?

ARES: I'm taking some time off.

Hercules: Yeah right.

ARES: I want you to keep an eye on Strife, Discord and DIEMOS.

Hercules: Are you asking my help?

ARES: Just do it. If they get out of line put them back in their place.

Hercules: Just this once.

A COUPLE WEEKS LATER HE WAS AT THE PARK THERE HE MET 14 YEAR OLD BRIANNA. HE KNEW THAT SHE WAS THE ONE.

ARES: What are you listening to?

BRIANNA: King Diamond. It's pretty freaky but it's cool. I'm sorry, my name is BRIANNA Wilcox. You're not from around here are you?

ARES: Greece and it's ARES.

BRIANNA: ARES? I don't mean to be rude, but what kind of name is that?

ARES: I was named after the god of war.

BRIANNA: I see.

ARES: My ancestors worshipped him.

BRIANNA: So he really does exist?

ARES: Pretty much.

BRIANNA: So what brings you to Ypsilanti?

ARES: I just had to get away for awhile.

BRIANNA: I can understand that. Well it's nice to meet you...ARES.

ARES: Do you come here often?

BRIANNA: Very often. I always like to sit here and watch the river flow. So what do you do for a living?

ARES: I have an antique shop, specializing in weaponry.

BRIANNA: That stuff really sells. Has it been successful?

ARES: Very successful. Stop by sometime, it's downtown.

BRIANNA:(looked at her watch) Well I better get going it's getting late.

SO BRIANNA GATHERED UP HER CDs AND STOOD UP. SHE WAS WEARING A BLACK MINIDRESS, IT WAS SLEEVELESS AND CAME UP ABOUT 2 TO 3 INCHES ABOVE HER KNEES, HE COULDN'T HELP BUT LOOK. THOUGHT TO HIMSELF "WOW."

ARES: Does your parents let you wear that?

BRIANNA: They don't really care for it, but they know I'll do it anyway.

ARES: It does look good.

BRIANNA: Thanks. Wanna walk with me?

ARES: Why not.

SO THEY WALKED OUT OF THE PARK AND UP INTO DEPOT TOWN. BRIANNA WAS EXPLAINING TO ARES ABOUT THE RICH HISTORY OF YPSILANTI AND DEPOT TOWN. THEY FINALLY ARRIVED AT BRIANNA'S HOUSE.

BRIANNA: It was nice to talking to you.

ARES: The feeling mutual.

SO BRIANNA WENT INSIDE AND HE DISAPPEARED. ON THE PORCH OF HIS HOUSE HE NOTICED AMANDA AND SAMANTHA WALKING BY.

Samantha: Look it's the new guy, let's go talk to him.

Amanda: What if he has a wife?

Samantha: If he does, where is she?

Amanda: Probably on her way home from work.

Samantha: Come on. If she comes home, all we have to say is welcome to Ypsilanti.

Amanda: Maybe you have some brains yet.

Samantha: Very funny Amanda, very funny. Come on.

Amanda: (to ARES.) Hello, my sister and I would like to welcome you.

Samantha: Yeah welcome. I'm Samantha, she's Amanda.

Amanda: We better go, your wife will probably be home in a few.

ARES: I don't have a wife.

Samantha: I told you so.

Amanda: Fine, you were right and I was wrong.

Samantha: My sister thought you had one. So how do you like it here so far?

ARES: Not bad.

Amanda: It's quite a peaceful town, granted there isn't much to do here, but it's a nice little community. So what's your name and where are you from?

ARES: Greece. ARES.

ACT: 1 SCENE: 2

HE HAS MET QUITE A FEW PEOPLE, WENT OUT WITH A MAJORITY OF WOMEN AND SLEPT WITH QUITE A FEW OF THEM. A COUPLE MONTHS LATER HE APPEARED TO BRENDA AND SAID

ARES: I have a proposal for you.

Brenda: Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my room?

ARES: Don't you know mythology?

Brenda: Yeah all kinds.

ARES: How about ARES?

Brenda: Yeah he's the Greek god of war. Wait a minute, are you implying that you are ARES, the ARES God of War?

ARES: Pretty much.

Brenda: You have got to be kidding me?

ARES: I have a proposal.

Brenda: Why don't you prove it to me.

ARES: I have no need to prove anything.

Brenda: (realized he was telling the truth.) What kind of proposal?

ARES: I want you to provide me with a temple.

Brenda: What do I get in return?

ARES: Anything you wish for, within limitations of course.

Brenda: Then what?

ARES: You will serve within the temple.

Brenda: Why me? There are others you know.

ARES: I have chosen you.

Brenda: Alright, I will.

ARES: You will start on it tomorrow morning.

WITH THAT HE DISAPPEARS AND WENT TO FIND BRIANNA, HE KNEW THAT SHE WOULD BE AT THE PARK DOWN BY THE RIVER.

ARES: I knew I would find you here.

BRIANNA: Of course. How has your first couple of months been?

ARES: It's been great. I have met quite a few people.

BRIANNA: Have you gone out on dates and stuff like that?

ARES: Yeah, it wasn't all that bad. The women were nice but haven't found anyone special.

BRIANNA: I'm glad you like it here.

ARES: I need someone to work the shop, working 12 hours a day is really bringing me down.

BRIANNA: I would say so. You do look very tired and exhausted.

ARES: I am. What are you listening to today?

BRIANNA: Kenny Chesney he's a country singer.

ARES: Who was King Diamond?

BRIANNA: Hard rock. I listen to a variety of music, depends on my mood.

ARES: I want you to come work for me.

BRIANNA: Help work the shop?

ARES: I need it.

BRIANNA: Why me?

ARES: Of all the people I've met, you seem to be the most qualified.

BRIANNA: How much will you pay me and how often?

ARES: I'll give you $6/hr, Mon-Fri 9 to 5, you will get paid every week.

BRIANNA: You will work the weekends?

ARES: Yeah. Every now and then we will work together.

BRIANNA: All right, when do I start?

ARES: Why don't we go and I'll tell you how things work?

BRIANNA: Sure why not.

BRIANNA STOOD UP AND THIS TIME SHE WAS WEARING TIGHT FADED BLUE JEANS AND A GRAY SLEEVELESS HOODED SHIRT. SO THEY WENT TO THE SHOP AND HE TOLD HER HOW THINGS WORKED AND EXPECTED HER TO DO SO.

BRIANNA: This is a nice shop.

ARES: Can you handle it?

BRIANNA: I'm pretty good at handling things.

ARES: I will see you tomorrow then?

BRIANNA: Yeah, tomorrow.

ARES: Good.

SO SHE HAD TO GO HOME AND EAT DINNER AND TAKE A SHOWER. SHE WAS GOING OUT WITH TREVOR THAT NIGHT. HE ARRIVED.

Trevor: Ready?

BRIANNA: Yeah where to tonight?

Trevor: It's Teen night at The Diamondback.

BRIANNA: Who's playing?

Trevor: No-one it's karaoke night and I know you love karaoke.

BRIANNA: That's great, thanks.

Trevor: All for you BRIANNA.

BRIANNA: Oh Trevor, how sweet.

Trevor: Have you met that new guy in town, ARES I think is his name?

BRIANNA: Yeah I met him. He offered me a job at his shop?

Trevor: Are you gonna take it?

BRIANNA: I already have. I start tomorrow morning at 9 and I get off at 5.

Trevor: How much is he paying you?

BRIANNA: He will pay me $6/hr.

Trevor: How many days a week and when will you get paid?

BRIANNA: Five days a week and he will pay me every week.

Trevor: Look it's Hands of Time. Wanna sing it with me?

BRIANNA: Sure why not.

SO FINALLY THE NIGHT WAS OVER AND THEY WENT HOME. TREVOR DROPPED HER OFF AND HEADED FOR HOME HIMSELF. THE FOLLOWING DAY, SHE GOT UP EARLY AND GOT READY FOR WORK, SHE HAD NO IDEA OF WHAT SHE WAS GOING TO WEAR. SHE JUST PUT ON HER BLACK HAULTER TOP, WHITE DEMNIM SLEEVELESS SHIRT, WHITE MINISKIRT, WHITE NYLONS WITH BLACK SOCKS AND BLACK HEELED BOOTS. SHE ARRIVED AT 8:45.

BRIANNA: Good morning.

ARES: Morning BRIANNA. I will be here until lunch, after that you're on your own.

BRIANNA: That's fine. This register will never do, it's out dated.

ARES: What would you suggest we use then?

BRIANNA: It's computers nowadays.

ARES: A computer? I am not computer literate.

BRIANNA: I am.

ARES:(hands her some money)Why don't you go and get one?

SO SHE WENT TO STAPLES THEN TO OFFICE MAX. THERE SHE FOUND A COMPUTER AND RETURNED WITH HIS CHANGE. SHE SET IT UP FOR HIM AND EXPLAINED HOW IT WORKS.

BRIANNA: You take the CD-ROM, put it in the CD drive and it will start automatically, then follow the instructions.

ARES: That doesn't seem to be so hard.

BRIANNA: It's rather simple. How about the paperwork how do you do that?

ARES: Samantha and Amanda do it for me.

BRIANNA: I know them.

ARES: Friends of yours?

BRIANNA: Not friends of mine.

THE 10TH CUSTOMER CAME IN LOOKING FOR A BIRTHDAY PRESENT FOR HER 17-YEAR-OLD SON.

Customer: Excuse me Miss?

BRIANNA: Can I help you? Mrs. Deveroh how are you today?

Customer: Fine thanks dear. You know what Trevor likes what would be a good present for him?

BRIANNA: He has always liked nunchucks and Sais. We have some over here.

Customer: That's great. Are they really as old as they look?

BRIANNA: Yes they are. Dated all the way back to Ancient Greece, 100% Spanish steel strong enough to split marble in half. But Sais is strictly a defense weapon.

Customer: Very good. I'll take them.

BRIANNA: He will like them.

Customer: So where did you two go lastnight?

BRIANNA: We went to the Diamondback, it was teen and karaoke night.

Customer: Did you have fun?

BRIANNA: Yeah we did. Cash or charge Mrs. Deveroh?

Customer: I'll have to write a check dear.

BRIANNA: That's fine. Thank you and come again. Tell Trevor I'll come and see him tomorrow after work.

Customer: I will. Bye now.

NOW IT WAS TIME FOR LUNCH ARES HAD BRIANNA TAKE HERS FIRST THEN HE WENT AND WELL SHE WAS NOW ON HER OWN, HE LEFT HER THE KEY TO THE SHOP AND TOLD HER TO LOCK UP. CUT TO BRENDA AND ARES.

Brenda: Where do I start?

ARES: Everything you need is downstairs.

Brenda: (went downstairs) It's a mess down here.

ARES: (with a wave of his hand) Just arrange everything. Then I will tell you what to do next.

HE WENT UPSTAIRS TO SEE HOW SAMANTHA AND AMANDA WAS COMING ALONG ON THE PAPERWORK FOR THE SHOP.

Samantha: This is our friend Susan, she's the math whiz around here.

Susan: How are you sir?

ARES: I've got to go out for awhile.

ACT:1 SCENE:3

IT HAS BEEN 1 YEAR NOW AND HIS TEMPLE FLURISHED WITH WORSHIPPERS AND HE WAS PROUND OF THAT, HE THOUGHT TO HIMSELF, "I STILL GOT IT." BUT THEN AGAIN HE HAD TO GO AND CHECK ON STRIFE AND THEM. CUT TO ANCIENT GREECE.

Discord: ARES is back. How was your vacation?

ARES: Good. I do have to go back, I have unfinished business to attend too.

DIEMOS: Where did you go?

ARES: The year 1995, to a place called Ypsilanti.

Strife: The future? We can do that?

ARES: I wouldn't recommend it for a Deity. Go find Hercules and tell him I want to see him.

DIEMOS: Are you going to squash him like a bug?

ARES: Just do it.

DIEMOS: I'm going, I'm going.

ARES: Insignificant fool. (To Discord) I need to relax.

Discord: A suggestion maybe.

ARES: What is it?

Discord: There is a new family in the village and the woman is very beautiful.

Hercules: What now?

ARES: Have they caused any problems while I was gone?

Hercules: They caused enough for one day.

ARES: What did you do?

DIEMOS: We just wanted to have a little fun.

ARES: What did you do?

Hercules: A giant bloodbath is all.

ARES: You did what!

Strife: It was Discord's idea.

ARES: Show me what you did.

SO SHE SHOWED HIM WHAT HAD HAPPENED A COUPLE WEEKS AGO.

ARES: I can't believe you did that, after I specifically instructed you not to.

Discord: Thanks to your brother...We...

Herc&ARES: (interrupted) Half brother.

Hercules: Are we finished here?

ARES: Pretty much.

Hercules: So our truce is over?

ARES: Yeah for now.

SO HERCULES LEFT AND ARES HAD A LONG TALK WITH STRIFE, DISCORD AND DIEMOS. IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WOULD CALL IT.

ARES: What were you thinking Discord. I leave one headache for another.

Discord: We were just bored and needed to do something.

ARES: When will you learn to follow instructions.

Discord: I can make up for it.

ARES: Just go.

SO THEY LEFT. THEY KNEW HE WAS MAD AND WANTED TO GET OUT OF THERE BEFORE THEY REGRET IT.

ACT:2 SCENE:1

TWO YEARS LATER BRIANNA IS NOW 16 ARES HAS BEEN SO KIND TO HER SHE COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT SHE WAS ONLY 14 WHEN SHE FIRST MET HIM. HE HAS GIVEN HER A JOB, HE LISTENED WHEN SHE HAD A PROBLEM, SHE CONFIDED IN HIM AND IT SEEMS HE UNDERSTOOD, HE WAS A GOOD FRIEND TO HER. BUT IN THE LONG RUN HE WOULD WANT SOMETHING IN RETURN. HE HAD PLANS FOR HER, HE JUST HAD TO WAIT UNTIL SHE WAS A LOT OLDER, HE DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT HE KNEW SHE WOULD GROW UP SOON. HE CAME BACK TO YPSILANTI TO CHECK UP ON A FEW THINGS. BUT THEN AGAIN HE WOULD BE GONE IN ABOUT ANOTHER YEAR. HE WOULD RETURN EVERY WEEK SO THAT HE COULD GIVE THE GIRLS THEIR PAYCHECKS. AS BRIANNA WAS LOCKING UP HE APPEARED BEHIND HER.

ARES: Busy today?

BRIANNA: (he startled her) Oh my god! Don't ever do that, you scared the shit out of me.

ARES: I didn't mean to.

BRIANNA: It's cool. Just don't do again ok.

ARES: Were you busy today?

BRIANNA: Pretty much. You are running low on stock.

ARES: It'll be here tomorrow. I have something for you. Why don't you come over for dinner?

BRIANNA: You have something for me? How sweet. Sure I'll come over. I just need to shower; it's been a very hot day. You need an air conditioner in there.

ARES: I'll take care of it.

BRIANNA: Well let me go home and take a shower and then I'll be on my way.

ARES: You can shower at my place if you want.

BRIANNA: That's very nice of you, but my parents wouldn't approve of it.

ARES: They don't approve of the type of clothing you wear that hasn't prevented you from wearing it.

BRIANNA: You are right, but this is different. Me showering over at a man's house, to them that is a sin so they say.

ARES: What harm could it do?

BRIANNA: None I suppose.

CUT TO THE HOME OF ARES WE SEE BRIANNA GETTING READY TO TAKE A SHOWER, AS SOON AS HE HEARD THE WATER RUNNING HE USED HIS POWER TO PROVIDE HER WITH A EVENING DRESS AND A WONDERFUL DINNER. HOW ELSE DO YOU THINK HE PREPARES HIS MEALS. HE DOESN'T COOK. IF IT CAN BE DONE WITH HIS POWER, HE'LL DO IT. SHE FINALLY WAS DONE AND WENT TO THE SPARE ROOM. THERE ON THE BED WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EVENING DRESS SHE EVER DID SEE AND UNDERNEATH IT WAS A STERLING SILVER NECKLACE. SHE WENT INTO THE FORMAL DINNINGROOM.

ARES: You look astonishing.

BRIANNA: I thank you, but don't you think I'm a little too young for this type of dress?

ARES: You're too young to wear what you do wear. What difference does it make?

BRIANNA: It doesn't, I wouldn't think. But this necklace, it's beautiful. I do know that I am too young to except a gift like this from a man.

ARES: What difference does it make? You're too young for a lot of things, but you do them anyway.

BRIANNA: You do have a point. Thank you they're beautiful. Why did you give them to me anyway?

ARES: I wanted too.

BRIANNA: Thank you again. My look at the time I better get going, my parents are probably worried sick. Do you mind if I leave the dress here? I don't want my parents to think that I've been doing something that I haven't.

ARES: Sure.

SO SHE CHANGED AS FAST AS SHE COULD, BUT SHE KEPT THE NECKLACE ON.

BRIANNA: Thank you for a wonderful dinner and thank you for the dress and necklace.

ARES: (hands her the house key) I want you to have this.

BRIANNA: I am definitely too young for that.

ARES: Take it.

BRIANNA: Alright (takes the key) What will I do with it?

ARES: Use it.

BRIANNA: I gotta go.

SO SHE LEFT AND HER PARENTS WERE RELIEVED THAT SHE WAS HOME SAFE AND SOUND. SHE HAD NO IDEA WHY HE HAS GIVEN HER THE HOUSE KEY. ALL HE SAID WAS "USE IT." THE NEXT DAY SHE ARRIVED AT WORK, SHE WAS LATE AND SHE KNEW ARES WOULDN'T BE TO HAPPY ABOUT IT.

ARES: You're late. Why?

BRIANNA: Can I lie about it?

ARES: I wouldn't recommend it.

BRIANNA: I slept in. (he was getting ready to say something) I was having a wonderful dream and I didn't wanna wake up.

ARES: Really.

BRIANNA: Well you wouldn't let me lie.

ARES: What would this lie be?

BRIANNA...I'll think of something.

ARES: Thought so.

BRIANNA: I'm sorry, it won't happen again.

ARES: Better not.

ACT: 2 SCENE: 3

TWO YEARS HAS PASSED HE WENT FROM GREECE TO YPSILANTI, YPSILANTI TO GREECE THE TIME HAS COME TO REVEAL HIMSELF TO BRIANNA. THIS WAS ONE OF THE DAYS THAT HE WOULD WORK THE SHOP WITH HER.

ARES: Ever use a sword or a chakram?

BRIANNA: No. I have no need to.

ARES: You've wanted to learn, haven't you?

BRIANNA: How did you know that?

ARES: You recently had a dream, About Xena teaching you how to use a sword and a chakram.

BRIANNA: Yeah that's right. How did you know?

ARES: I watch you sleep.

BRIANNA: Do what? Did I hear you right? You have watched me sleep?

ARES: You're dreams are very interesting.

BRIANNA: How can anyone see somebody's dreams? It's impossible, unless you

Are...

ARES: (interrupts) A God.

BRIANNA: Exactly.

BRIANNA WAS SILENT FOR THE REST OF HER SHIFT. THINKING ABOUT WHAT ARES HAD SAID. SHE WOULD DEFINATELY HAVE TO THINK ON IT. FINALLY IT WAS 5:00 AND BRIANNA WAS COUNTING HER DRAWER, SHE BROKE EVEN.

BRIANNA: I'll see you tomorrow bye.

ARES: I have something else for you to do.

BRIANNA: What's that?

ARES: I haven't had time to clean the house.

BRIANNA: So you want me to do it?

ARES: Yeah.

BRIANNA: Alright.

ARES: You are welcome to make yourself at home. Whatever you do, do not go downstairs.

SO SHE WENT HOME AND TOOK A SHOWER AND WENT TO BED. THE NEXT DAY SHE WENT OVER TO ARES' HOUSE TO CLEAN IT UP FOR HIM, HE WAS RIGHT HE DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO CLEAN IT AND IT WAS A MESS BRIANNA THOUGHT TO HERSELF.

BRIANNA: It looks as if he had a party lastnight. God look at this mess, this will take all day. Better get started.

SO SHE DID. FINALLY AT ABOUT 3:30 SHE WAS DONE. SHE THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT HE HAD SAID AND WONDERED HOW HE KNEW ABOUT HER DREAM. SHE GOT CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT WAS IN THE BASEMENT, MAYBE THE ANSWER TO HER QUESTION WAS DOWN THERE. SO SHE WENT DOWNSTAIRS, SHE WAS SURPRISED AT WHAT SHE HAD SEEN. SHE THOUGHT FOR A MOMENT.

BRIANNA: A temple? But for who?

Brenda: Welcome to the Temple of ARES, please feel free to worship.

BRIANNA: Did I hear you right? The Temple of ARES?

Brenda: Why yes, The God of War.

BRIANNA: (to herself) oh my god, he can't be.

Brenda: Excuse me.

BRIANNA: N...Nothing. Do you mind if I look around?

Brenda: No be my guest.

BRIANNA: Thank you, Brenda. (She was looking around) Look at all this. People actually give him things? I wonder why?

ARES: (walks in) They are grateful.

BRIANNA: (she turned around) Grateful for what?

ARES: Everything and anything. It's good to know that people still believe in The Gods, especially me. (To the servants) Leave us. (They leave) I thought I told you not to come down here.

BRIANNA: You did.

ARES: Why did you?

BRIANNA: (lying) I was gonna clean it up for you.

ARES: Don't lie to me.

BRIANNA: (busted) Shit...I was thinking about what you had said yesterday. I thought that maybe the answer would be down here, I got curious and here I am. By the way, you look good up there on that throne.

ARES: Try something more original next time.

BRIANNA: (busted again) Shit! (To ARES) Are you really The God of War?

ARES: I am. It pleases me to know that there are still believers, you're one of them aren't you? (She nods)

ACT: 3 SCENE: 1

BRIANNA IS NOW 28 AND IT IS TIME

ARES: I will give you strength and power, if you agree to become The Priestess of this temple.

BRIANNA: You'll give me strength and power? In return I become a priestess to the Temple of ARES?

ARES: Imagine what it would be like, all that power and strength.

BRIANNA: Why me?

ARES: You meet my standards.

BRIANNA: I don't have the first clue on how to be a priestess.

ARES: It's all in that book over there. Your choice BRIANNA.

BRIANNA: Give me a week or two.

ARES: As you wish.

ACT: 3 SCENE: 2

COUPLE WEEKS LATER SHE CAME TO A DECISION. AFTER WORK SHE WENT OVER TO ARES' TO LET HIM KNOW HER DECISION. SHE FOUND HIM IN THE TEMPLE.

BRIANNA: I have come to a decision.

ARES: That is?

BRIANNA: I will be the priestess to the Temple of ARES.

ARES: It's done then.

THE END
