Part Four

After the two ate their dinner Sharki asked if Delaney would like to take a walk. Delaney decided that it would be a good idea.

"Nice night," Delaney stated casually as she looked around.

Sharki looked over at her companion and smiled. "Yes, it is."

They walked next to each other not really heading in any direction. The sound of soft music suddenly filled the cool night air and they looked at each other.

"Want to go check it out?" Sharki asked with a raised eyebrow.

Delaney thought for just a second before she nodded, "Sure. Could be fun."

The walked for half a block until they reached a small club. Since it was the middle of the week they didn't have to wait in a long line before they were allowed to enter.

"This place is great." Delaney said as she walked in front of Sharki.

Sharki grinned as she watched the woman in front of her started to sway with the music. "Want to dance?" She whispered loud enough in Delaney's ear.

Delaney turned her head and looked into soft blue eyes. "Okay."

Slowly the two made their to the dance floor. The soft sound of the saxophone filled the room and guided them into a rhythm. At first they stood inches apart. Not touching only looking into each other eyes.

"Can I put my hands around your waist?" Sharki asked before she moved closer.

Delaney also moved and wrapped her arms around Sharki's neck. She could smell the woman's perfume and the hint of the restaurant they had just left. She closed her eyes and let the music and atmosphere guide her to a peaceful safe place.

Sharki's body tingled from the contact of the smaller woman in her arms. She couldn't help herself as she caressed Delaney's back with the tips of her fingers. Her surroundings making her feel content.

"Why do you trust me enough to dance like this and not enough to want to split my winnings with your Grandma?" Delaney looked up into Sharki's eyes.

"I trust you," Sharki answered. "I just let my insecurities take charge sometimes."

"Well, I'm glad you trust me and I hope your insecurities don't come between us." Delaney wrapped her hands in Sharki's long dark hair. "I like how this feels."

"What feeling?" The tall woman looked down into sparkling green eyes.

Delaney didn't stop the swaying of their bodies. "You dancing with me. It feels… good."

"You're right," Sharki smiled down at Delaney. "It does feel good."

They danced for several more songs before they decided that it was time they headed home. The next coming weeks were going to be busy and they both needed time to think about the sudden feelings they were feeling towards each other.

Sharki drove Delaney home and walked her up her steps.

"Thank you," Delaney said shyly. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"No need to say thank you. It was my pleasure and yes I'll see you tomorrow." Sharki without thinking leaned down and placed a soft kiss on Delaney's cheek. "Good night."

Delaney closed her eyes, "night."

Esta sat in her kitchen with a cup of hot tea and the daily newspaper opened to the comics. "Too funny." She laughed to herself as Sharki slipped in through the front door. "I'm in the kitchen." She yelled out.

"Hi, Grandma," Sharki stepped into the well lit room and gave her Grandma a light kiss on the top of her head. "How are you?"

"I'm doing okay." Esta looked up at her Granddaughter. She noticed the look of concentration on the younger woman's face and being the inquisitive woman that she was she couldn't let it pass. "What's up?"

Sharki shook her head. "Nothin."

"Oh, you now better then to answer me like that." Esta moved the chair next to her out from the table. "Sit down and start talking."

Sharki sat down and rested her chin in the palm of her hand. "I took Delaney to dinner."

"That I know." Esta tapped Sharki's arm. "Continue with something I don't know."

"I took her to that Italian place. You know the one I get take out from all the time? Then afterwards we went for a walk." Sharki turned her head and looked at her Grandma. "We heard music and decided that we should go in."

"Annnnnnd?" Esta prodded.

Sharki rubbed her face with her hands. "We danced."

"That sounds like fun." The older woman stated taking a sip of her drink. "It was fun wasn't it?"

"Yes, it was." Sharki said softly. "It felt…."

Esta reached up and grasped Sharki's hand. She entwined her fingers together and held on tight. "Tell me."

Taking a deep breathe and let it out slowly. "It felt really good."

"Feeling good is good." Esta smiled and kissed the back of Sharki's hand. "Good is good."

*****************************

Delaney sat on her couch with Wheels sitting on her lap trying to get the blonde woman to pet her. "Oh Wheels, what am I gonna do?"

Wheels put her front paws up on her owner's shoulders and rubbed her head under Delaney's chin.

Finally getting the hint Delaney scratched the back of Wheel's head and looked into loving yellow eyes. "She kissed my cheek."

"Meow."

"I don't think I could handle it if she had kissed me, kissed me." Delaney mumbled as she rubbed the spot on her face where Sharki's lips had touched. "I felt.. crap I don't know how I felt. It just felt really good."

"Meow."

"I think I'm reading to much into it. It was just a sweet kiss on the cheek. Nothing more." Delaney whispered to her cat. "Damn, I'm such a fool. One minute she is questioning me then the next we are dancing. Dancing close and it felt right to be next to her."

"Meow."

"I think I need to go to bed and forget about tonight." Delaney picked Wheels up and walked towards her bedroom. "A good night sleep is what I need and see what tomorrow brings."

I know these are smaller parts than I usually put out, but I want to take my time and make sure I do these characters justice. Let them grow and develop.

Feed back would be great. So if you read this far why don't you spend another two minutes writing me and telling me what you think so far… . Tinstrttn@aol.com
