Eternal Night Glistening Lost in her eyes I am mesmerized Her features radiant In the soft glow of candle light I am entranced By the flickering ember Reflected in her eyes As it dances seductively In the gentle draft of her breath The golden flame Melting the wax into soft liquid Her gaze melting me A bubble forms at the base of the wick Salty tears well in my eyes Powerless to stop the flood of emotion Slowly they begin to fall Upon my flushed cheeks Leaving glittering tracks in their wake A bead of wax drips slowly down the length of the candle Mimicking the tears falling freely from my soul The soft glow of the candle enhancing the heat of your skin The heat from your hands penetrating deep into my very soul I gasp for breath A deluge of emotion engulfs me I wait for the words to spill from my lips Yet no sound emanates I am frozen in your fire As you gaze at me Holding my heart in your hands I am terrified you may loosen your grip You threaten to?my soul cowers Trembling at the thought of your abandonment Revealing to you my apprehension You smile a gentle smile and all doubt disappears My trepidation is immediately diffused Time has escaped us Hours transformed into mere moments Lifetimes pass before our eyes The flame quieted for now As a spiral of smoke swirls into the darkened night We are no longer sitting face to face In the flicker of candle light You are submerged in me And I am engulfed by you Melted into one By the eternal night © The Naked Muse aka Just Char Todd email: the_naked_muse@yahoo.com |
