Leilani sat on her board with two other competitors beside her, all of them staring out into the ocean and waiting for the perfect wave. She knew it was out there just waiting for her, but she only had two minutes to catch it. She knew her time was ticking by fast and it seemed nothing was coming up. She heard the announcer on shore give her a one-minute warning. Just as she was going to take one of the smaller waves, out in the distance she saw it. The wave was just rising and it was a beauty.
"Later, ladies. I am going to catch my break," she laughed as she knew she had the winner in this set. "Next rider up is Leilani Pauahi, three time world champion. She has two minutes to catch her wave."
Leilani started paddling for all she was worth and as she took one final stroke, she felt the wave catch up with her. She lifted herself up on the board and proceeded to give the audience on shore what they came out to see, world-class surfing, and by a woman at that.
Leilani Pauahi had been surfing since she was five years old when her father finally talked her mother into allowing his daughter to ride on the board with him. She could still remember that first wave she rode with him on his long board. It only lasted a few seconds since the waves were only breaking at three feet, but she knew in her bones that this would be the only love of her life. Or would it?
Shaking the past from her mind Leilani shifted her weight on her brightly colored surf board to bring her inside of the 'Green Room'. Once inside the center of the wave Leilani could feel the power of the rushing water as it shoved her forward faster than her previous ride. The powerful sound ringing in her ears as the adrenalin flowing rampid through her body. She shot out of the wave tipping the board into a hard left to keep her momentum up to carry her within a few feet of the shore line. Carrying the board back up to the beach she stood it end up, the bright pearlescent colored flames flickering in the hot sun. The crowd was on its feet as she picked up her towel, waving to them as she turned to watch her best friend Mackayla 'Mac' Clark take her second ride of the day.
Leilani observed the last two contestants fight for the next wave, Mac and Gennie battled back and forth for control over it. Leilani watched as Gennie swerved her board right in front of Mac's running up over the tip flipping Mac over into the water. Leilani was off and running when Mac did not surface after the wave had pasted over. Her long legs reaching deeper waters quicker than the life guards could. Her body flowed through the water her eyes burned as she kept them open looking for Mac. Only surfacing when her lungs screamed for air, she caught site of Parker's blonde head bobbing in the water, swimming closer to her.
"Can you see her?" Parker called out to her, Leilani glanced towards Parker as something caught her eye behind the bobbing blonde, it was Mac's board.
Leilani dove under the water her strong arms pulling her closer to the bottom of Mac's board. She could see Mac caught in the ankle tie that was connected to the board. Leilani pulled Mac up to the surface, flipping her in her arms so her face would be out of the water,
"Parker I need your help, her safety release on the cord isn't working. I need you to hold her face out of the water while I try and release it."
Parker paddled over to take Leilani's place holding Mac's head above the water as she dove back under to yank the cord from the board. When Leilani surfaced she was within inches of Parker.
"Thanks I can get her back from here." Leilani's face showed concern at the site of the cut above Mac's eye brow.
"Parker we have to move quickly this blood will draw sharks. Leave her board and swim for the shore."
Getting to waist high water, Leilani picked Mac up in her arms and carried her on to the sand as the paramedics rushed to take over. Leilani held Macs limp hand in hers pleading her to wake up, tears fell from the deep blue eyes.
"Mac you have to wake up, don't you leave me. We have one more ride together buddy."
"You will need to give us more room to work Leilani, please step back and let us do our job." One of the paramedics snapped a little harshly at her.
Leilani stood up and moved back as she spotted Gennie. Her anger came back full force. She spun away from the crowd that had gathered, running into Parker.
"Leilani don't start anything here. Now is not the time!" Parker stood in front of the tall dark haired beauty.
"Out of my way Parker, I'll walk right over you if I have to!" She made a move so quick Parker wasn't sure what had happened but Leilani was off in a flash leaving Parker to wondering how she was now facing the other way. The lethal body moved quickly down the sand to catch Gennie by surprise.
"That was dirty pool, if she can't finish this next ride you will answer to me." Leilani stalked closer to Gennie, "I swear I will hold you under the water until you turn purple. She can't finish this ride you won't either" Leilani was with in inches of Gennie when she felt a warm hand on her back. It soothed the anger as she looked down into the worried green eyes.
"What Parker?" Leilani spoke softly hiding the anger she felt as Gennie stepped between them, taking Parkers hand pulling her away from Leilani.
"Let's go Parker; we don't need to listen to her idol threats." Gennie gripped Parkers hand tighter. Leilani watched as Parkers face twisted in pain at the tight hold on her hand.
"Let her go Gennie." The growl came from deep with in Leilani's chest, she wanted nothing more than to take the tiny woman in her arms and protect her. Gennie stepped away from Parker glaring at Leilani as the crowd gathered around them waiting for a fight to break out between the two women.
"Leilani maybe we should go check on how Mac is?" Parker stepped closer to her taking her arm leading her back to where Mac was sitting, grinning up at the cute medical Doctor.
"So will I live Doc?"
"I think you will Mackayla. Just keep those stitches dry for the next week or so." The doctor ordered.
"Only if you promise to have dinner with me tonight?" Mackayla's eyes filled with the teasing she was known for as she took the Doctors hand in hers. "I just might need your services again." Mac replied as she slowly stood up.
"I mean it Mackayla; you cannot get those stitches wet at all." The doctor looked up at her only to realize her words were lost on deaf ears.
"Lei you still have that super glue and the silicone spray?" Mackayla winked at Leilani as she approached.
"Yes I think they are in my extra duffle bag, why?" Leilani raised an eyebrow at her friend.
"I have an idea to kill two birds with one stone. Walk with me to our camp and I will explain." Mac replied with an evil grin.
MacKayla and Leilani headed back to where they had their belongings stored on the beach. Parker watched as Leilani laughed at something Mackayla was saying to her, viewing the long legs gliding smoothly over the rough sandy beach. Parker jumped at the sound of a voice in her ear. "I'm sorry, what did you say?"
"I asked if they were a couple." The doctor asked as her eyes never left Mac's backside.
"A couple of what?" Parker looked confused. Her eyes still following the nice tan legs of Leilani, her mind not registering a word the Doctor was saying.
"Are they together?"
Parker shook her head pulling her eyes from Leilani's backside, to focus on what the Doctor was asking her. "Oh my heavens NO!" Parkers voice filled with laughter, "They maybe a couple of goof balls but they are not a couple. I am Parker by the way."
"Nice to meet you Parker, I'm Gail."
Parker cringed as she noticed Gennie walking towards them.
"Parker we have to be to the bar by seven tonight, so I will pick you up a little after six." Gennie stepped between the Gail and Parker, ignoring the Doctor.
"Gennie I am not going with you I told you I have to cover the Luau tonight." Parker stepped backwards avoiding Gennie's touch.
"Then I will meet you there afterwards." Gennie's voice became angry as Parker brushed her off.
"It is a closed party; you have to have an invitation to get in. We discussed this already." Parker ran a frustrated hand through her long blonde hair. "Now if you will excuse me I have to go finish taking photos for this months cover." With a dismissive nod at Gennie, Parker smiled at Gail.
"It was a pleasure meeting you Gail; I hope we can chat again soon." Parker turned and walked away leaving a fuming Gennie behind.
**********************************************************
"Are you sure you are up to this Mac?" Leilani looked concerned at her best friend as they slowly paddled out to meet the oncoming waves.
"Lei, don't worry, I'm fine, besides the super glue will seal up the stitches and I would not miss Gennie playing slip and slide on her next ride.
"I still cannot believe you did that." Leilani laughed as they watched Gennie struggle to stay on her board as she paddled to meet the oncoming surf. "You do realize we can get disqualified for that?" Leilani wiped the tears of laughter off her face.
"Not 'we', 'I' will get disqualified for this. I am not going to let you have even a part of this. One of us has to win and you are the one who is going to do it. Now sit back and let me make a fool of Gennie. She deserves whats coming to her."
**********************************************************
Gennie sat upright on her board waiting for the flag on the beach to show it was her turn.
"This is not right; someone has messed with my ride here. It's like it has been greased or something."
"What are you talking about Gen?" Karen looked over at Gennie like she had lost her mind. "No one would dare mess with your stuff and you know it. Are you sure you didn't wax the wrong side again?"
"Hey, the last time I did that was because I was drunk. Give me a break. No I am not kidding here Karen someone messed with it."
"Well it's too late now; your flag is up Gen you have to take this ride."
"Shit I know it was Leilani and that little bitch. " Gennie looked across the water at Leilani and Mac.
"Gen, let it go and catch this next wave; you have less then two minutes." Karen yelled at Gennie bringing her back to reality.
Gennie paddled hard to catch the next wave, fighting to stay in her board. She caught the tip of the wave she stood up but did not stay up on it, her feet slid out from under her. Her feet stuck out over the top of the wave as it washed over her, her butt was sliding across the board her arms flailing about like a windmill in a storm. Angry swearing could be heard by the waiting riders as she passed them in a rush of white foam.
Leilani and Mac sat watching Gennie slip and slide past the dead zone of the wave,
"That was well worth getting disqualified Mac." Leilani wiped the tears from laughing so hard from her eyes and looked at Mac.
"Lei I'm telling you I will take this fall if anyone questions us; you just keep your mouth shut and let me do the talking ok?" I mean it Lei!" Mac looked at her best friend with narrow eyes, "Or I tell Parker you're a princess."
"You wouldn't dare!" Leilani took a swipe at Mac.
"Oh yes I would, promise me you wont take the blame for this one. Swear it." Mac narrowed her eyes at her friend.
"Fine you win, I don't like it, I helped you do that to her." Leilani snorted back at Mac.
"I know but this one's all mine. I mean it Lei. No time to argue, anyway your up." Mac smacked Leilani on the back. "Good luck buddy and see you on the beach.
Leilani rode out her wave, pulled herself up out of the water to find Parker standing not more then fifty feet from her snapping pictures like there was no tomorrow. Running a hand through her long black hair she walked closer to Parker, who was so involved in taking her pictures she did not notice Leilani moving closer until it was too late. Leilani reached out and pulled the camera from Parkers hands. Looking at the camera noticing it was on the last picture she turned it on Parker snapping the shocked look on her face.
"I do believe you are out of film Parker." Leilani tried handing the camera back to her. The water drops glistening off the strong tanned arms.
Parker gulped in air as her eyes followed the droplets down Leilani's neck to disappear into the bikini top.
Leilani reached out farther handing the camera back to Parker. "Breath Parker," Leilani whispered in her ear as she gently ran a finger down the side of her face. Leilani left Parker standing there in the hot sand hardly breathing, to find her towel and dry off. She was lost in thought as someone called her name.
"Leilani Pauahi?" A man asked as he stepped up and offered his hand.
Leilani looked down at the hand and raised her eyebrow, "Yes?"
"My name is Fredric Scottsdale and I was wondering if I could have a few words with you?" He smile and dropped his hand when she didn't shake it.
"So?" Leilani shrugged her shoulders knowing now who this name was. "I don't do interviews or anything like that." She turned and walked away.
Scottsdale quickly followed, "I am the editor of Green Room Surfing Magazine and I was wondering?" Before he could finish his sentence Leilani stopped and whipped around.
"Stop following me. I said I don't do interviews so back off." Leilani poked him in his chest.
"I don't want an interview. I want to offer you a job." The tied dye sandal wearing man stated as he rubbed his chest.
"What?" The tall surfer replied confused and unsure if she heard him right.
"You are the best surfer in decades and I want you to put your experiences and knowledge to work for my magazine." Fredric stated as he watched Leilani.
"Why should I do that?" Leilani asked as her mind finally started to work again.
"I only want the best and like I said you are that." Fredric Scottsdale replied. "With your words and the fabulous pictures Parker has taken it would be fabulous."
Leilani's mind and heart stopped beating when she heard Parker's name. "You mean Parker Stevenson?"
"Yes, you know her?" Mr. Scottsdale asked as he nodded his head.
Leilani took a deep breath, "Could you give me some time to think about it?"
"Sure why don't you stop by my office later and we can talk more about it." Fredric gave himself a mental high five. "Here is my card. It has the address to the offices on it."
"Sure, no problem," Leilani looked up from the card and watched the man skip down the sandy beach. "This might be the chance I'm looking for."
**********************************************************
Leilani paced back and forth talking to her self in front of the Green Room Surfing Magazine offices. She knew Parker was there but she had a meeting set up to meet with her boss in less then fifteen minutes. Now she just had to have the nerve to hit the elevator button to take her up to the offices.
"I can't believe I am going to do this. I hope she won't be mad at me for accepting the job offer, but it is the only way I can think of to be closer to her. Here goes nothing."
Leilani punched the button with a vengeance, her heart telling her something was wrong. She could feel the panic in her heart as the doors opened. She jumped inside and pushed the buttons hard hoping it would take her up to the top floor quicker.
**********************************************************
Parker flipped the light switch up. She blinked until her eyes were use to the brightness after being in the dark for so long.
"I hate that," Parker rubbed her eyes with her fingers. "Now let's see if I have anything good." She turned and looked around at the couple of dozen photographs hanging from clothes pins across the room.
The sight of surfers gliding across the blue and white waves made her smile. "Damn I love this job."
A knock on the door made her jump.
"Come in," Parker yelled as she patted her chest hoping to calm herself down.
"Hey, Parker, did you get anything good?" Mr. Scottsdale asked after he opened the door.
"I think I got a few," Parker pointed out several shots.
Mr. Scottsdale nodded and grinned as he inspected the photos. "This one, and this one for sure and I'll take a better look at the others when they're done drying. Set them on my desk before you leave."
"You got it, boss." Parker smiled.
"Funny," he smirks, "I have an appointment, but I'm going to run down to the cafeteria, do you want anything?" He asked as he walked past Parker.
"Sure, I'll take a soda," Parker replied as she put her negatives in an envelope.
"Be back in a second," Mr. Scottsdale waves as he heads out of the room and down the hall.
Parker went about cleaning up the dark room so she could leave for the day. So into her work, she didn't hear when someone entered.
"Well, I figured I'd find you here." Gennie said as she crossed her arms over her chest.
Parker flipped around, "What are you dong here?"
"I came to see my girl," Gennie smiled. "Don't you want to give me a kiss?"
"I told you I never want to see you again. What you did to Mac during the competitions was uncalled for. You could have really hurt her or worse killed her." Parker stormed past Gennie to her office. "I want you to leave right now." She ordered as she stood behind her desk.
"I did no such thing. Mackayla Clark got in my way and it was her own fault that she was hurt." Gennie slammed her fist down on Parker's desk.
"Bullshit," Parker opened her top desk drawer and grabbed a large brown envelope and tossed it at Gennie. "When everybody gets a look at these you will never be able to surf in any kind of surfing venue again."
Gennie snatched the envelope out of the air and ripped it open. She pulled out several pictures, "What does this prove? It's just me and Mac surfing."
"Look a little closer," Parker pointed to the other photos. "It shows exactly what happened when Mac was hurt."
Gennie flipped through the pictures. Her temper began to flair as she flipped from one picture to the next. "You bitch, this will ruin me."
"That's the point. They don't need people like you out there trying to hurt or kill people just to win." Parker yelled, "All my life I have seen how graceful people look when they are out there in the zone of a wave. That is why I made it my life's work to take pictures like these." Parker gestured towards the wall which held countless pictures she had taken through out her career.
"Shit you do this because you can't surf," Gennie laughed.
"Wrong again. I know how to surf. I just never wanted to with you." Parker leaned against her desk. "I suggest you leave now."
"I'm not going until you give me the negatives for these pictures." Gennie crumpled the pictures she had in her hand and shoved them into her coat pocket.
"I don't have them. They are locked up in my boss's safe in his office." Parker moved around her desk and headed for the door. She knew that Gennie's temper was really about to explode and she didn't want to be in the same room when it did.
Gennie tripped over the chair that was in front of Parker's desk when she tried to grab Parker's arm. "Get back here, you fucking bitch."
Parker ran out of the door and down the hallway towards the elevators. She hit the down button as she stood there watching Gennie stalk down the hall. "Stay back."
"I want those negatives and I want them now." Gennie's face turned a deep red. She grabbed framed pictures off the wall tossing them here and there.
The sound of the elevator bell stopped Parker's heart. She looked back to see Gennie coming closer and closer. "Hurry up and open," Parker slapped her hands on the cold metal doors.
When the doors finally swooshed open she quickly walked in without taking her eyes off Gennie. Her movement was stopped by two arms engulfing her. "What the?"
"You okay?" Leilani asked softly as she felt the small body trembling in her arms.
"Oh," Parker looked up and was immediately lost in caring blue eyes.
Leilani noticed movement out of the corner of her eyes and looked up, "Is she bothering you?" She asked Parker without taking her eyes off Gennie.
"Yes," Parker answered softly as she clutched onto Leilani's shirt.
"Oh, look who we have here. Can't you find your own girlfriend to bother?" Gennie screamed.
"I suggest you get the hell out of here before I do something you won't like," Leilani narrowed her eyes.
"Like you could," Gennie glared at the tall brunette.
Leilani gently moved Parker and herself off the elevator. She looked down at Parker and smiled, "Could you let go of me for a second?"
Parker reluctantly let go of Leilani's shirt and stepped out of her way.
Gennie stood straight up and puffed out her chest, "I'll give you the first punch. Then you're all mine."
Leilani smirked, "Trust me, after one punch you'd be down for the count, bitch."
Gennie clenched her fist, "You think just because you've won so many world champions that you can do what you want. Well I'll show you that you're nothing." The tall angry blonde swung at Leilani.
Leilani grabbed Gennie's wrist and twisted in behind her back as she slammed the woman's body up against the wall. "I suggest you get out of here before Parker's boss presses charges against you for disturbing the peace and destruction of private property."
"I will not leave until I get what I want," Gennie mumbled back as her face was pressed up against the wall.
Leilani looked over at Parker who was rubbing her face with her hands. "What is she talking about?"
"I have some pictures she doesn't want anyone else to see," Parker replied with a sigh.
"You going to give them to her?" Leilani asked.
"No way in hell," Parker responded with a shake of her head.
"There is your answer. I think it's time for you to leave." Leilani pushed Gennie away from the wall and into the still open door of the elevator. "Say bye," she hit the door button and moved out of the way.
"I'll be back," Gennie pointed at Parker as the door closed.
"Good riddance," Parker leaned against the wall. "Thank you, I think she would have really done something to hurt me if you hadn't shown up."
"You're welcome, you going to be okay?" Leilani asked as she rubbed Parker's arms.
Parker nodded her head as she tried to calm her body's reaction to the surfers touch. The skin Leilani touched was on fire and she knew that if this continued she would do something that would be embarrassing.
"You sure?" Leilani stepped closer. She knew that she should step back and give Parker room, but the smaller woman smelled so good and her skin felt so silky under her hands.
Parker looked up; her eyes were captured by electric blue. She loved the way they sparkled with life as they looked over her face. She brought her hands up to rest on Leilani's arms and stepped closer, raising up on her tip toes.
"Hey, Parker here is your drink," Mr. Scottsdale bellowed as he walked off the elevator. "Oh, hi Leilani, I'm glad you could meet me here."
The two women moved away from each other. Both too shy to look at the other as Mr. Scottsdale handed Parker her drink and shook hands with Leilani.
"Why don't we go talk in my office," He gestured for Leilani to walk in front of him.
"Sure," Leilani cleared her throat and headed down the hall.
Parker and Leilani thought at the same time. "Did we almost kiss?"
"And Parker don't go anywhere, I need to speak with you as well." Mr. Scottsdale called to her as he ushered Leilani into his office. Leilani stepped into the office. She is shocked to see that this is not a normal office this one actually looks lived in and welcoming. Pictures grace the walls of surfers from a long time ago up to the present; including one of her at the world championship last year.
Mr. Scottsdale gestured for her to take a seat in a black worn leather chair that sits in front of a very messy desk. He noticed Leilani staring at the picture of her self on his wall.
"Parker took that one, it's my favorite. Thanks for meeting me here," Mr. Scottsdale said as he sat in his chair. "Why did you agree to come here?"
Leilani thought about his question for a few seconds and then replied, "Well I think I'm ready to settle down and start a life that will still be surrounded by surfing and I think this will be the next step." Leilani sighed. "I can't surf forever and I know that. It's just feels right that now is the time. I think your offer would keep me occupied enough in the surfing world that I would not go out of my mind." Leilani shrugged her shoulders slightly.
"Okay, well I will let you now that I am very happy that I didn't chicken out and not talk to you." Mr. Scottsdale laughed. "I have to admit they told me you would be a hard sell on this idea and please, call me Fredric," The editor stated. "Mr. Scottsdale makes me sound way older than I am."
"Okay, Fredric lets hear the deal you have for me," The surfer sat up and rested her elbows on her knees.
Fredric sighed, "Before we get into all the details I want you to take Parker to the Luau and see if you two get along."
"What?" Leilani gasped.
"I'm thinking of partnering you two up. She is the best photographer I have and she is the only one without a writing partner." Fredric watched as Leilani's face drained to a pale white as the shock of his words settled in her brain.
"You okay?" Mr. Scottsdale asked Leilani, who just slightly nodded her head.
"You want me to...take her," she pointed towards the door where they had left Parker standing in the hallway.
"Yep," Fredric stood and walked around his desk to stand in front of Leilani. "I really think you two can produce great things together."
"Produce great things together," Leilani continued to nod her head. Her mouth hung open, the palms of her hands getting all clammy and a base case of the cotton mouth was coming on. As he continued to speak to her,
"With your words and her pictures, just imagine the stories you will tell." Fredric waved his hands in front of his body. "I can see award after award for you guys."
"Award?" Leilani gulped. "Me and Parker together?" Leilani repeated, "Award?"
"Yes you and Parker working together. It could be the best thing since peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." Fredric replied as his excitement grew with every word.
The room seemed to get smaller and smaller as Mr. Scottsdale opened the office door and yelled for Parker to join them. Parker walked into his office and took one look at Leilani.
"What did you do to her Fred?" Parker's voice shook with a slight anger as she knelt down next to Leilani,
"Hey, you ok Leilani?" Parker took the larger hand in hers the other softly caressing her cheek.
Leilani shook her head, clearing the jumbled thoughts,
"I need a drink, Ill be right back." She faked a small smile at Parker and walked out of the office to gain better control on her feelings.
Parker glared at Fredric, "What did you say to her?" Parker moved closer to him the anger radiating off her.
Fredric knew he had better speak quickly rather than to suffer the fate of the little blondes temper. He held his hands up in surrender. "I offered her a job that's all, I swear it Parker. I told her to take you to the Luau tonight, so the two of you could see if you could work together?"
"You what?" Parker's voice squeaked as she heard what Fredric said.
"What is with you two? I want the two of you to cover the Luau tonight. You take pictures and Leilani will write an article about it. Simple as that I don't see what the big deal is about the two of you working together."
Leilani walked back into the office in full control of her emotions at least it looked that way, deep down inside she was shaking with fright. "Ok so what time do I pick you up Parker? Or would you like to just meet me there?" Leilani held her breath waiting for the small blonde to look at her.
"I think it would be best if I meet you there, I have a few things I need to take care. But I can meet you there about seven-ish?" Parker blushed slightly at the raised eye brow on Leilani almost in jest.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" Leilani asked as she tried not to get lost in Parker's vibrant green eyes.
"I can think of something you can help me with, but I won't even go there." Parker thought as she fought down her libido. "I ah, no none that I can think of at the moment. But seven is ok?" Parker swallowed hard trying to hide the blush creeping up her face.
'God's above, she is so beautiful. I am the luckiest woman on the earth! Leilani smiled down into the green orbs. "I look forward to seeing you then." Leilani stepped close to kiss the bright red cheek. She could have sworn she heard a slight moan come from Parkers lips. Leilani nodded at Fredric and headed for the elevators.
"Leilani?" Parker called to her.
"Yes?" the eye brow reaching up beyond the bangs one more time.
"What shall I wear?"
Leilani sucked in a deep breath of air as the response of 'NOTHING' screamed in her head.
"Beach wear is fine. Maybe a light shawl as it can get cooler after dark." The doors opened and Leilani stepped in leaving Parker with a quick wink as they closed.
**********************************************************
Leilani paced back and forth along the side walk next to the beach. "I can't believe Mr. Scottsdale has me and Parker going to the luau together."
"Would you calm down," Mac said as she saw Gail through a crowd of women, her eye's instantly connecting with the older woman's blue gray eyes. "Be still my beating heart."
"You want me to calm down? Are you nuts?" Leilani asked as she looked at her friend. "I have been in love with Parker since the first moment I ever saw her and now we are to go to a luau together."
"So, it's just a luau. You've been to hundreds of them." Mac shrugged her shoulders never taking her eyes off Gail who had on a pair of white shorts with a light blue button up shirt that showed off ample cleavage. "Treat it like you would any of them."
Leilani caught the sight of blonde hair out of the corner of her eye. She turned to watch Parker walk closer to her. "How do you expect me to treat it like one of those when I will have the most gorgeous creature walking the face of the earth next to me?" She pointed at Parker who was dressed in a forest green bikini with a see through white wrap around her waist.
"Oh my god," Mac replied as she turned to look at Parker.
Leilani nodded, "Oh my God indeed."
Gail stepped up between the two surfers. "What are you looking at?"
Leilani pointed, "The woman who makes my heart beat."
Gail smiled at Parker as she walked slowly towards them. "Wow, she is a beauty that's for sure."
"Not as beautiful as you though," Mac whispered in Gail's ear.
"You are a big flirt," Gail gently shoved Mac.
Mac wiggled her eyebrows, "You love it."
"I do," Gail reached up and planted a kiss on Mac's cheek.
Leilani never noticed what was happening between the two women next to her. She only had eyes for the gorgeous creature that was now standing in front of her.
Parker stopped in front of Leilani, who was staring at her, looking up into the blue eyes. "Do I have something on my face?"
Leilani shook her head as her eyes locked on with Parker's, "No you are perfect," she whispered.
"Excuse me I didn't catch that," Parker asked as she stepped closer to the tall surfer never breaking eye contact.
Leilani jumped when Mac nudged her shoulder. "Sorry, I think our seats are over this way." She held out her elbow for Parker to take.
Parker smiled, "Lead on." She grabbed a hold of Leilani's arm and let her dream show her to where they would be seated.
"Do those two even know what kind of fireworks they are throwing off each other?" Gail asked as she accepted Mac's arm.
"They don't have a clue," Mac shook her head.
**********************************************************
Through out the night the two women stole glances. When their legs would accidentally rub together or when they both reached for the same object on the table and their fingers would brush against the others, their bodies immediately craved more as their souls screamed for the other.
"This is a great show," Parker stated as she took another drink, the flicker of the flames from the candles that were scattered around the room shimmered in her eyes.
"I agree," Leilani scooted a little closer to Parker as the beat of the drums grew faster.
Mac quickly grabbed Leilani's glass and replaced it with her own full one. She figured that maybe if she got the two slightly drunk that they might actually make headway and confess their love for one another.
"Do you think that's a good idea?" Gail asked as she leaned closer to Mac.
"So far they have said more to each other than any other time they have been in the same room." Mac said as waved down a waiter for more drinks.
Parker studied the hula dancers and smiled. "You know they have nothing on you," She said as she turned to look at Leilani. "The way you move out on a wave is pure magic."
"I'm just a surfer. Nothing magic with what I do." Leilani shook her head as she sipped out of her now full glass.
"You are so wrong." Parker rested her hand on top of Leilani's hand and intertwined her smaller fingers with Leilani's. "The way your body moves in perfect harmony with every drop of water out there. It's like a dance of two lovers."
Leilani gulped, "Two lovers?"
"Oh yes," Parker nodded. "You guide your surf board on the top of a wave like you would guide your body across the top of your lover's body. Knowing exactly the curves and bumps and touching the spot where you know you will get the best reaction to your moves."
"My moves?" Leilani repeated as she finished her drink in one swallow.
Parker licked her lips, "You know your partner will only last so long, so you caress over the curves and guide yourself and your partner to the point where it's just you and her. Exploding in orgasmic harmony."
"Her?" Leilani thought as she watched Parker take a drink then turned to watch the hula dancers again. Their hands still clasped together she ran her finger along the tan soft skin.
Parker closed her eyes and turned back to the woman next to her.
"You have such soft skin," Leilani mumbled as she ran her finger from the small blonde's wrist to her elbow. "I have never felt anything so exquisite in my life."
Parker brought up her glass to her suddenly parched lips, "Do you have any idea what you're doing to me?"
Leilani looked up into deep green eyes that had trouble focusing on her face. "What am I doing to you?"
Before Parker could answer, a tray full of food landed on Leilani's head.
"Oh my," Parker quickly stood up to help wipe off some of the food. "Are you okay?"
"Just peachy," Leilani growled as she plucked a piece of shrimp out of her hair.
"What happened?" Parker asked as she looked at Mac who was trying not to laugh.
"Dancer knocked into the waiter," Mac snorted as she tossed a piece of papaya on top of the table.
"We should get you out of here and get you cleaned up," Gail stated as she wiped off some sort of sauce that dripped down Leilani's face.
The three women never noticed the laughing blonde woman in the corner as she handed the hula dancer a handful of money.
Leilani stood up shaking off the food, "Tell you what give me fifteen minutes and I'll be back." She looked down at the white silk shirt now stained red with shrimp sauce. Shaking her head, "Could this night get any worse?"
***********************************
Leilani walked out of the bathroom with a great big wet spot that was still slightly red. "Damn, this was one of my favorite shirts"
Gennie snickered as she walked by, "Looks like some people aren't as graceful as they thought."
"Shut up you bitch," Leilani growled as the alcohol she drank throughout the night traveled through her body.
"What are you going to do about it?" Gennie faced the tall surfer. "I see how you look at Parker. She's not worth it. The worst dead piece of fish I ever had in my bed."
Leilani's anger flared when her mind registered what Gennie had said. She swung without even thinking about it. "You no good excuse for a woman. I'll break you in half."
Gennie's body crumpled to the ground and her eyes rolled in the back of her head.
"If you really existed I wouldn't give you the time of day." Leilani spat as she rubbed her now sore knuckles.
"Shit Lei, what in the hell did you do to her?" Mac asked as she was on her way to make sure Leilani was doing ok.
"Fucking whore insulted Parker," Leilani stumbled into her friend. "I don't feel so good." Mac wrapped her arms around Leilani's waist and guided her back to the bathroom. Leaving her to hug the porcelain Goddess Mac went in search of Gail.
"Gail, can I see you a minute?" Mac smiled charmingly at her sexy date.
"What are you up to MacKayla?" Gail leaned in close to Mac.
"Here is my credit card, please go to the front desk and get us a room." Mac replied.
"MacKayla you are way to bold." Gail pretended to be shocked.
"Not like that woman, it's for Parker and Lei. I'm going to give them a boost in the right direction, Leilani is about to pass out, it won't be long before Parker is right beside her. I figure we take them up to the room, after they pass out we undress them and dump them in bed together."
"I cannot believe I am agreeing to this." Gail mumbled under her breath. "This is just too evil, are you sure Leilani won't get pissed off at us?"
"I swear to you Doc, Lei will never know it was us who set them up and should she ever find out I will take the blame all by myself. Tell you what you go get the room and I'll go get Lei and drag her upstairs and then come back for Parker. Then you and I can dance the night away."
"Hmmm. Can't we just skip the dancing here in the bar and take this somewhere more private?" Gail leaned in to nibble on Mac's ear.
"Why Dr. Bullock are you propositioning me?" Mac leaned in closer to her, "Get two rooms will you, one for the drunks on another floor and one for us in the penthouse. Just tell Pete at the front desk it's for me. He will take care of the rest."
Mac dumped Leilani onto a luggage cart and wheeled her into the elevator. As she stood waiting for Gail to bring her the key people walked by staring at her strangely, "Not my fault she tried something with me."
"Would you quit," Gail slapped Mac on the back of the head.
"What?" Mac rubbed where she got smacked. "Come up with me and open the door for me. You can sit with her when I come back and get Parker."
Getting the tall surfer into the bed was another story; the two women fought her tooth and nail. After struggling for a few minutes Leilani fell back in the bed completely naked and passed out. Mac then took the cart back to the bar to find the little blonde. She could not believe her eyes when she spied Parker sing at the top of her lungs to an Elvis song. "Oh my god, she sucks." She stated as she walked over and pulled the blonde down off the table and tucked her under her arm and carried her out of the bar to a round of cheers from the other patrons of the bar.
Parker tried to speak, her words slurred together as she snuggled closer to Mac. "Lei take me to bed. I love you sweetheart." The blonde rambled on as Mac walked into the elevator and waited for it to take her back to the room where she dumped her best friend.
"Lei are you listening to me?" The blonde tried to squirm out of Macs arms.
"That I am little one, shhh, relax and go to sleep. I'll take you home to bed ok?"
"Ok Lei, I love you."
Mac knew she would rot in hell for this one but if it brought her best friend happiness then so be it. "I love you too little one." She leaned in and kissed her forehead as the doors opened to the fifth floor. Mac made quick work of the tiny bikini Parker had on. She closed her eyes as much as she could to get the clothes off with out seeing too much.
"I hope you keep your eyes open when you undress me," Gail whispered into Mac's ear.
Mac whole body shivered with excitement, "You be your sweet ass my eyes will be open."
Mac leaned over and kissed both Leilani and Parker's cheek. Then offered Gail her hand and guided her over to the door, she shut off the lights and locked the door on their way out. She laughed to her self at the though of them waking up together in the morning. But that thought was quickly set aside as the Doctor pulled her towards the candle light penthouse.
**********************************************************
Parker scrunched her eyes as the morning sun filtered through the window. "Turn the light off." She moaned as her body tingled and her head pounded.
"No, you do it," Leilani mumbled as she snuggled closer to Parker's warm body.
Parker groaned as she turned her body around. The arms that were wrapped around her lifted slightly to accommodate the new position and began to caress the smooth skin on her back.
Several seconds went by before two sets of blood shot eyes popped open.
"Hi," Parker smiled as she felt the fingers that were tracing a pattern on her bare back stopped.
"Hmm, hi," Leilani raised an eyebrow, "You know you are naked?"
"Kinda figured, I can feel your whole body pressed up next to mine." Parker shifted her leg that was currently in between Leilani's long tan ones. Her knee came into contact with the surfer's center. "Sorry."
Leilani closed her eyes and moaned, "No problem."
Parker watched as Leilani's face relaxed slightly as she moved her knee away. "How did we get here? Did we do anything that we shouldn't have done?"
Leilani waited a heart beat as she put the feeling of having the small woman in her arm in her memory for later. "Not too sure how we got here, as for doing anything, we are naked and we are holding on to each other."
"That's what I thought," Parker gently moved a couple of inches away. She didn't want to embarrass herself or the woman of her dreams any more than was all ready going on.
Leilani took the movement from the small blonde as a rejection. "How do you think we should handle this?" She sighed now knowing how Parker felt about her.
Parker blushed, "I seriously doubt we could just forget about it."
"Not in this life time or the next." Leilani thought. "I guess we could try. Just kinda pretend that last night never happened."
Parker sat up covering her body with the bed's comforter, "We could do that. We just won't mention it ever again."
"Sounds like a plan," Leilani agreed as her heart broke. "Why don't you stay where you are, I'll get up and gather my clothes."
"Okay," Parker said as she tried not to think about the beautiful women standing naked just on the other side of the room. Out of the corner of her eye she spied the dressers mirror. She had a front row seat as Leilani tossed the covers off her body and stood up. "Could there be anything more perfect than that body? Plus we spent the night together and I don't remember a damn thing." She moaned as she rubbed her eyes, "Life ain't fair."
"Excuse me, did you say something?" Leilani asked as she zipped up her pants.
"No," Parker answered quickly. "I just need to go to the bathroom really bad."
"Oh, okay. Let me get my shirt on and I will turn around for you to go in." Leilani grabbed her stained shirt and tossed it on. She started to button it up and turned to face the wall. "You can go now."
"Thanks," Parker stood up and dropped the comforter and ran towards the bathroom. Along the way she picked up her articles of clothing.
Leilani tried not to look at the reflection she had in the picture in front of her. It was no use though when Parker's muscular tan body came into full view as she bent over to pick up her bikini top. "Just kill me now. Not only did I sleep with her and hold her all night long, but I don't remember one nanosecond of it. Life really sucks sometimes."
Parker shut the door and leaned her back against the cold door. "I will forever rack my brain as to the events that went on last night."
Leilani stepped up to the closed door, "I'm going to go now, or should I stay?"
"You can go. I will only be a few minutes." Parker answered through the door.
"Okay," Leilani rested her hand on the door for split second before she walked to the door. She turned back to the bathroom and kissed her palm and blew it towards the woman she loved, "Bye."
Parker clutched her clothes in her hand up to her chest as tears started to fall. "Bye my heart."
**********************************************************
Leilani headed right for the bar, she needed a bloody Mary to wash away the broken heart along with a nasty ass hang over. She was well into her fourth one when Mac found her.
"Lei what in the hell are you doing?" Mac growled at her best friend.
"What's it look like Mac? Trying to get drunk, now leave me alone." She snapped a little harshly back at Mac.
Mac pulled the drink from her hands, "Come on don't be such an asshole, lets go and talk this out."
Leilani stood up her full height towering over Mac, "Look I said I don't want to talk about it ok."
"Fine, then don't talk about it, but let me drive you home. We have got things to do before the awards show tonight. And you need to be sober to help me. So stop the bullshit and let's go."
Leilani never said a word as she followed Mac out to the car. She hardly nodded at the Doctor as she climbed into the small convertible's back seat. Leilani was silent as they drove back to the house they shared.
"Mac you care to tell me what happened?" Gail whispered as she shut off the car.
"I think my plan backfired on me. I'll explain in a minute I've got to do some damage control first. Why don't you go up and take a shower and Ill fill you in on what happened soon as I get the drunk to tell me what happened." Mac leaned over kissing her soundly on the lips. "Did I thank you for last night?"
"In so many ways, but it wouldn't hurt to thank me again soon." The Doctor growled in Mac's ear. Leilani had enough of the love birds and jumped out of the backseat in one smooth motion.
"I'm going for a swim. I'll be back later." Leilani ran full out across the warm sand with Mac right on her heals.
Mac grabbed Leilani by the arm. "Would you slow down for a second?"
"Why don't you go back to your doctor," Leilani spat as she started to walk closer to the warm water. "At least one of us should be happy and it sure as hell isn't going to be me."
"What happened between you and Parker this morning?" Mac asked as she fell in step with her friend. "Last I saw of you two you were pretty touchy feely and happy."
"What do you mean when you saw us? The last thing I remember is you helping me to the jon so I could puke my guts out." Leilani stopped and turned towards Mac. She noticed the way that Mac didn't look her straight in the eye. "What did you do?"
"Well, I sorta thought that if I gave you guys a nudge in the right direction you'd spill your guts and tell each other how you feel towards each other." Mac shoved her hands in her pockets and kicked at a stick in the sand. "I watched you two interact last night and every single time you get within ten feet of each other. You both get all doe eyed."
Leilani grabbed Mac by the collar of her shirt, "You did what?"
"I was trying to help," Mac croaked out as she tried to pry Leilani's hands off of her.
"Help," Leilani picked her friend up off the sand and tossed her flat on the ground. "You didn't help me at all. I was just embarrassed, more than any time in my life. Parker couldn't wait until I got out of there. She hid in the bathroom until I left."
Mac sat in the sand, "I'm so sorry, buddy. If I had known that this was how it would end up then I wouldn't have done it."
Leilani covered her face, "I know," she sighed. "What am I going to do? Waking up with her in my arms is like nothing I have ever felt before."
Mac tugged on Leilani's pant leg, "Come on and sit by me. We will think of a way for you to get your girl."
The two friends sat there in the sand thinking. Several ideas were shared but quickly shot down, until Mac had the ultimate idea.
"I have got it," Mac screamed and started to laugh.
"I think the sun has finally gotten to you," Leilani grabbed a hand full of sand and tossed it at Mac's chest.
"Hey, stop that." Mac wiped at her clothing. "Listen this is the best possible way to find out and to let Parker now you love her."
"Okay, what is the plan?" Leilani closed her eyes and waited for Mac to tell her the great plan.
"What is one of the best things you do besides surf?" Mac asked as she made a hole in the sand with her feet.
Leilani opened her eyes and shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know. What?"
"Sing," Mac simply stated with a big grin.
Leilani stared with her mouth open. "You want me to sing to her?"
Mac grabbed her cell phone out of her back pocket and dialed a number. She held up a finger for Leilani to wait. "Hey bud, I need a favor. My friend wants to sing tonight do you think you can give her a spot?"
Leilani rested her head on her knees and waited for Mac to get off the phone. When she heard her say bye she turned her head slightly and looked at her friend, "What did you just get me into?"
"You my friend are now on the list of entertainers for the benefit tonight. You are going to sing your little heart out and watch as Parker comes running to you." Mac clapped her hands together with excitement.
"I'm going to kill you. What in the hell do you expect me to sing? How do you even know Parker is going to be there? How do you know she won't run in the opposite direction when she sees me?" The tall dark haired surfer rattled off.
"Shut up and quit being a baby." Mac grabbed a hold of Leilani's face, "Follow your heart my friend it will never steer you wrong."
Leilani sighed and nodded, "okay, now what do you expect me to sing?"
"Boy do I have a song for you." Mac stood up and held her hand out for Leilani to take. "Come on and I will show you. It's one of the best damn songs I have ever heard in my life."
"Alright, you better be right this time." Leilani grasped her friends hand and pulled herself up. "Because so far your evil little plans have backfired big time."
"Just trust me on this," Mac headed back to the house.
Leilani laughed as she wiped the sand off her butt, "She says trust me; I'm the one who is going to sing in front of thousands of people tonight and make a complete ass out of myself." She mumbled as she follows her best friend.
****************************************************
The noise radiating from the crowd was deafening. Leilani stared out from the side lines watching the crowd go crazy at the antics of the MC. She knew what she was about to do was crazy, but she couldn't stand the thought of keeping her feelings for Parker silent any longer.
"So you really going to do it?" Mac asked as she walked up to her tall friend.
Leilani turned and smiled, "I need for her to know what I'm feeling. It's tearing me up keeping it all bottled up. Plus this was your idea, remember?"
Mac nodded her head as she patted Leilani on the shoulders. "You two would look good together." She motioned with her chin for Leilani to turn back toward the audience.
Leilani had to hold onto Mac so she wouldn't fall over. Parker was standing next to the stage talking to one of her friends. She had on a light green sun dress on that matched the soft color of her eyes. Her long blonde hair blew off her shoulders as a light breeze whirled around. "So beautiful," she whispered as her heart jumped around in her chest.
Mac reached down and pinched her butt, "You look hot yourself."
Leilani slapped Mac on the stomach, "Stop that."
"Look at yourself," Mac turned Leilani towards a full length mirror that the benefit committee put there for the participants to get a look at themselves before they stepped out on stage.
Leilani gazed at her reflection. Her dark suit made her shoulders look broader and her waist trim. The blue shirt set off the sparkle of her electric blue eyes.
"When do you go on?" Mac asked as she watched her best friend.
Leilani looked at her watch, "In about ten minutes." She turned back to see if Parker was still there.
The small woman was watching her and gave her a small wave.
Leilani waved back and smiled before she quickly turned around. "I'm so fucking scared. What if I make a complete ass out of myself? She'll laugh at me and never talk to me again."
Mac held her sides and laughed, "You are so funny. I've heard you sing that song and you sing it way better than Celine does."
"Sure that's why she has all the money and all the fame," Leilani teased Mac.
"Don't even go there," Mac pointed her finger at Leilani. "You better get warmed up. It's about time you let that woman of yours know how you feel."
"Yes, ma'am." Leilani saluted Mac. "You know that you are the greatest friend anyone could have?"
"Yes, I do," Mac winked before she walked away.
************************************************************
Parker made her way through the thick crowd. Her thoughts kept going back to the way Leilani looked in her suit. "She looks so gorgeous." She mumbled to herself she imagined running her hand through the long dark tresses.
"Well, look what we have here Karen," Gennie yelled over the loud crowd.
Parker snapped her head up, "Fuck, what do you want?"
"I want you back," Gennie took a drink of her beer. "Why don't you come and walk on the beach with me? That way I can show you what you'll be missing."
Parker stepped back, "I will never go anywhere with you again. I can't believe that I didn't see what kind of person you really are."
"Oh, and what kind of person am I?" Gennie finished her beer and grabbed Karen's as she was about to take a drink.
"Nothing is more important to you then the next wave; you do whatever you have to, to win. It doesn't matter if you might kill someone along the way; you're evil plain and simple." Parker fumed.
"You're just pissed off because I hurt Leilani's friend. I bet that while we were going out you two were screwing around behind my back." Gennie pointed an accusing finger.
"Come on Gennie, you know Parker isn't that kind of person." Karen said as she grabbed Gennie by the arm to keep her from walking closer to Parker. "Let's go get another drink."
"I suggest you get as far away from her as possible Karen." Parker offered. "She is only going to hurt you if you stick around."
"I know," Karen responded softly.
"Leave her alone," Gennie grabbed Karen by the hand and led her through the crowd back to the beer tent.
Parker shook her head as she watched the two women disappear from sight.
*********************************************************
"Ladies and Gentleman, please give a warm welcome to our surfing world champion Leilani Pauahi." He clapped his hands and waved to the side of the stage.
Leilani walked out on the stage waving both hands above her head. She stepped up to the microphone, "Aloha everyone."
The crowd screamed, "Aloha."
"I'm going to sing a song tonight that will hopefully make my future brighter." Leilani looked over at the band and waited for the count.
The soft music started and Leilani began to show Parker her heart.
I wanna be the face you see when you close your eyes
I wanna be the touch you need every single night
I wanna be your fantasy
And your reality
And everything between
Parker listened to the words as they began to float out of Leilani. Her heart started to beat faster when her eyes locked with the blue eyes of her dreams.
I want you to need me, like the air you breathe
I want you to feel me, in everything,
I want you to see me, in your every dream
The way that I taste you, feel you, breathe you, need you
Need you
I want you to need me, need me, like I need you
Leilani stood on the stage her eyes showing Parker what was in her soul.
I wanna be the eyes that look deep into your soul
I wanna be the world to you I just want it all
I wanna be your deepest kiss, the answer to your every wish
I want you to need me
Like the air you breathe
I want you to feel me, in everything
I want you to see me, in your every dream
The way I taste you, feel you, breathe you, Need you
I want you to need me, need me
'Coz I need you more than you could know, and I need you to never let me go
And I need to be deep inside your heart, I just want to be everywhere you are
Parker tried to get closer to the stage, but the throng of people made it impossible to move. They all loved the tall surfer and they all wished that she was singing to them.
Leilani watched Parker try to fight her way to the stage. She grabbed the mic off the stand and headed for the steps. The security quickly surrounded her as she stepped off the stage.
I wanna be the face you see when you close your eyes
I wanna be the touch you need every single night
I wanna be your fantasy, and your reality
And everything between?
Leilani made it to within ten feet of Parker, who just stood there with tears running down her face.
I want you to need me, like the air you breathe
I want you to feel me, in everything
I want you to see me, in your dreams
'Coz baby I taste you, feel you, breathe you, need you
I want you to need me, need me,
Like I need you
Leilani finished the song and stood there staring at Parker. She went to take a step closer, but a very happy red head jumped through the security guards and started to kiss her. Caught off guard she stood there stunned.
Parker saw the red head dart in. Seeing that Leilani was not doing anything to stop the woman she turned around and walked away. Happy tears now turned sad.
Leilani finally came to her senses and pushed the woman away. "Get away from me." When she looked around to find Parker her heart broke when she didn't see the small blonde.
"I'll give you more than that if you want?" The red head tried to latch on to Leilani again.
Leilani shoved her out of her way and turned around to walk back towards the stage. "I blew it. She thinks I'm a crazy nut. I probably embarrassed her and she will never speak to me again."
"You sang beautifully," Karen said as Leilani stormed past her. "You okay?"
"What do you care?" Leilani stopped when she heard the woman talk.
Karen looked at the ground, "I just do."
"Why don't you go and find your boss. I bet she has something for you to do." Leilani said coldly and began to walk away. She wanted someone to feel as bad as she did and Karen just happened to be in the wrong place at the right time.
"I'm not her friend anymore," Karen yelled at Leilani's back.
Leilani stopped and turned around, "That is the best thing you will do for yourself." She saw the sad look in the smaller woman's eyes. "Sorry for snapping at you."
"Not a problem," Karen smiled slightly. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"No thanks," Leilani gave Karen a small wave and left.
Karen watched Leilani head off towards the cliffs. The figure looked lost and dark as the sun began to set. "Need to find Parker."
********************************************************
Parker sat next to the palm tree oblivious to everyone around her. "I could have sworn she was sing to me, but if she was why did she kiss that other woman?"
"Maybe she wasn't expecting it," A voice said from behind her.
Parker turned her head, "Hi, Karen."
"Hi, Parker. Would you mind some company?" Karen gestured to a spot on the ground.
"Sure," Parker patted the ground. "Where's Gennie?"
"Who knows? Who cares?" Karen shrugged her shoulders. "I don't need friends like that."
"Looks like both of us finally came to our senses." Parker smiled.
"Finally," Karen laughed.
"Yea," Parker picked up a blade of grass fiddled with it.
"So why aren't you with Leilani?" Karen asked softly.
Parker shook her head, "Not too sure it's me she wants."
"Are you nuts? Did you not hear that song she just sang to you? She is so in love with you that she put herself out there in front of thousands of people." Karen grabbed Parker's hand. "Go and find her."
"I don't know where she is?" Parker looked Karen in the eyes.
"Go look over by the cliffs," Karen stood and pointed. "The last I saw her she was over there."
******************************************************
Leilani looked out at the picture before her. The colors that filled the sky were amazing. Pinks and blues combined to show a master piece only Mother Nature could paint.
Leilani reached inside her pocket and pulled out her gold metal she had won. "What's the point of winning if I can't share excitement of winning?" She opened her hand and let the gold metal slip through her fingers. The red ribbon it was attached to wrapped around her fingers. Slowly she unwrapped one finger at a time until she came to the last finger. She took a deep breath and let it slip off.
A small hand quickly grabbed the gold metal before it fell into the ocean below. Parker carefully straightened the ribbon as she looked up into soft loving blue eyes. "Please?"
Leilani bent over so Parker could hang it around her neck. She didn't want to say a word for fear that it was all a dream.
Parker kissed Leilani's cheek and whispered, "I need you."
