A wonderful, wonderful story. I've read it several times, and i cant believe it hasnt been commented on before. Its a wonderful Xena and Gabrielle romance. The relationship between them is VERY realistic, very beautiful and deep. If youre looking for a lifelike, warm and classic romance story - READ THIS!!! - Anonymous - Sep 30th, 2005 This story is an intimate look into the love X&G have for one another. ItÆs not the usual short courting straight into sheet burn, they talk about the topics left untouched and about where they want to be. This is a MUST READ if you like romantic tales. The sequel is Candle in the Distance on The Academy Of Bards but it is unfinished. Hopefully the author will complete it. - Draco - Oct 13th, 2005 Very sweet, romantic tale. Nice to see a softer, more vulnerable Xena. - Anonymous - Nov-18-2010 I felt like this story was a tease. There's a long slow build up as Xena and Gabrielle admit their feelings and begin to slooowly share increasing intimacies--in between discussing every random thing that ever happened to them--first while Xena convalesces at an inn and then while visiting Cyrene for Solstice. And in the end, their consummation happens "in the white space" and suddenly they are talking in passing about their first time (specifically about how that had actually been Gab's first time, much to Xena's surprise) and I'm thinking, "Wait. When did they finally have sex??" Because you see, the "fade out" on their latest make-out session didn't suggest they were about to actually sleep together any more than the "fade outs" on any of the previous almost-but-no-not-yet scenes had. I felt like I wasted a lot of time on this one and had been led around by the nose. All that build up and no climax. - Anonymous - Jul-09-2014 I felt like this story was a tease. Different from others because of the topic. Would love to see the author fill it out more, but it's really good the way it is. Give it a try. - Miss Sellaneous - Sep-12-2008 Very well written story with lots of twists and turns that add to the gentle romance that builds between Liza and Vonne. Good read. - Lyn B - Mar-11-2011 interesting topic.. story has a nice build up in every department.. - xtra dog - Jun-18-2011 KG delivers another winner in this tale of hard work and manipulation. Wow!! This is a great start to a series that is intriguing in its short length, but certainly not lacking in depth of emotion! Kudos to the writer! - Wolf Maiden - Jan 9th, 2003 Read this entire series, was surprised by the depth of the story, and pleased with the writing. Strong characters with personal adjustments to make, however reluctantly to hurt others. Well written short pieces. Now, how about getting them together finally! - Kaye - Jan 11th, 2003 This series is like no other. Omg.Great stuff - Brighteyez08 - Oct-08-2009 i've only read this story in the series so far.. so, i have no idea how the series is going to evolve.. i do feel for the 2 main characters and the predicaments they're in.. being of the lesbian variety myself, i do wish for some ways thos series could progress.. but it would be fine with me either way.. - xtra dog - Dec-16-2011 Gread start of the series... loved it! - Ricky - Apr-28-2015 |

Different, very different! Aside from the text version being one extremely huge file, I finally completed it...and I have never felt so strange after reading a story. I wanted to scrub some rather unsettling images from my mind but keep the ones I liked. My dog said the feeling will pass. I believe him, he's never been wrong yet. ;) - Kay - Dec 19th, 2002 Certainly one of the most unusual pieces I've read in a while. Chelle's story, "Alternative To Uber", works on several levels. It's an entertaining fantasy, an experiment in netfiction presentation, and a satirical commentary on the alt/uber genre. Enjoy it as you will. It's Mary Sue dragged down the rabbit-hole to find an increasingly bizarre world that somehow feels more and more comfortable. I really can't recall anything like it. - Phantom Bard - Dec 24th, 2002 If you enjoy off kilter humor that makes you laugh, groan and shake your head at the same time, then this story is for you. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Chelle has quite the imagination or perhaps its the pickled brain cells (I'm not sure which) hmmm.... Anyway please read this one, you're gonna love it. No really.....truly......honest you will....read it , you'll see. I wouldn't steer ya wrong. - Anonymous - Nov 3rd, 2003 This outrageously inventive story is actually around 175 pages. Very unique and I'm glad I read it - You go Chelle (sounds like Shell, you morons!) Delicious - Robin [Editor's Note: Corrected. 9-23-2010] - Anonymous - Sep-22-2010 You know, at first I wasn't sure what to make of this story. But I hung in there and then it got really good, really fast. Excellent story. - Anonymous - Sep-27-2010 I make it my business to try and read something from every author. I try, I do. I'm especially fond of uber and Conqueror stories. I can honestly say this is one of the most original, irreverent, introspective, hilarious, and plain old entertaining stories I've read on this site. There's no easy moralizing or lazy storytelling to be found. This author is really dynamite. - BrooklynABD - Dec-03-2010 It was a bit confusing at first with the different narrations, but everything fit in nicely in the end. Don't let the beginning scare you away. Once you story really starts to pick up, you'll be impressed by the amount of thought put into this work! - Anonymous - Jan-13-2011 This was a really good read. I thought wife swapping was a thing of the '70's! Now, the 21st century version is truely depicting an "alternative lifestyle"! Throw in the homage to "Been There, Done That" and "Groundhog Day" and Ambrosia turns infidelity into a quest for the greater good!!I LOVE IT!;D This story would make for a very enjoyable "Twilight Zone" or "Outer Limits" episode! Too bad network heads are such prudes, TV might be worth veiwing if that wasn't the reality we all have to endure, at least for now, we can read and dream!!! - dez - Aug-04-2007 Hot and mysterious! - Anonymous - Oct-01-2009 I really enjoyed this story. i didn't anticipate the twists. J.W. Heart does it again! This entire series is a favorite simply because the author doesn't lose sight of her characters. Trace, Shannon, Dawg & company remain true to form and continue along a great storyline, providing genuine laughs (of the out loud and snorting variety) along the way. The only problem I see is that this is the end of the series. =) - Kaye - Jun 11th, 2003 Part ~ 4: Trace & her friends get into more trouble...(Adored every single one of these characters.) :o) - ubertopia_uk - Feb 14th, 2006 Amazing, doesn't even do this serious justice. A terrific continuation of Blue Oblivion, that deserves to be read and enjoyed by all. There's no link to it yet on the Atheneum but they have been busy lately... :) - darkenedkarma - Oct 8th, 2002 So glad to see this on the 25 list as it means other folks are out there reading this really entertaining story. Blue & Connor are fun to follow in this love story with a surprising backstory, mystery, familybusiness with mafia overtones. Excellent & often funny banter between the leads as well as supporting character/friends. Written so well, I could close my eyes and hear Blue singing in the club. Also have read the sequel "A Rose in Blue" and is, too, is top notch fun to read. Like these girls so well I'd like to see JP make a trilogy out of it. Too bad JP's addy link isn't working. This is one of the very first fan fiction stories that I have read back when it was first posted. And because of it, I became more hooked with the Xenaverse. Also look for its sequel. Highly recommended! Thank you Phopas. - BYL - Mar-14-2006 this story hooked me on to fan fiction all that time ago, and i have read it and re-read it! thank you! - kati - May-09-2006 This whole series by Trish is soooooooooooo good. She has the Xena and Gabrielle relationship down so spot on. The love that Xena has for Gabrielle is depicted as so powerful and so absolute, no matter what the obstacles, what the danger, that you can't help as a reader being struck by its force. And that's compounded by some very original story telling throughout the series with a lot of humor thrown in, especially the last story, Honeymoon in Tartarus.
