According to Lunacy it won the top spot in the 2nd Xenite Bard Contest. After reading it you will know why. As the teaser says, the story revolves around Artemis losing her Godhood, a verdict handed down by Zeus for her violating protocol and saving the lives of her "children" - the Amazons - who were destined by the Fates to die during a sea storm. She enlists Xena and Gabrielle to help her regain her Godhood, in a hunt that leads all three to a place that will test their bravery, endurance and wisdom. I wasn't sure how BL Miller was going to get these 3 out of their quagmire but she succeeded which makes for a entertaining read. But because of BL's talent for romantic and passionate story telling, her stories are always very entertaining. Her debut writing style was received quite well as you can see from this riveting story and everyone looked forward to the next story she would write. This delightful story opens with a very funny "after-the-credits" resolution to Joxer as Attis the Ape-man. Xena and Gabrielle are bound for Laconia where an encounter with a long lost relative leads Gabrielle to understand her feelings about the Warrior.
Another entertaining and imaginative premise from BL Miller for a first time story. This time instead of characters from Xena's past, we get one from Gabrielle's. Very pleasant and relaxing read. No anxiety or stress related romance here. - kazy - Nov-28-2012

After leaving the land of Illusia, Gabrielle becomes blind. Through her blindness, warrior and bard finally see their love for on another and act upon it.
The rift in Season Three of Xena is, in my opinion, one of the areas of the canon that everyone seems to try to avoid. And there are few other areas that merit the writing of more fan fiction. This is a rift story that really gets it right. The angst, the sadness, the guilt... and not to mention the makeup sex. B.L. has always been one of my favorite writers, and this story is one of the best examples of her deep understanding of human emotions. This is one of the first fanfiction I read and, it made me want to read more all these years. BL Miller once again tells such a moving, heart rendering story, portraying a rigid and domineering Xena who caves in emotionally over Gabrielle's pain and suffering. While Xena certainly feels frustration over her inability to solve the problem of Gabrielle's loss of her voice, it's Gabrielle's emotional state, her mental decline, that tears Xena apart, that makes her feel utterly helpless and drives her into the depths of despair. Compounding all this anguish, there's the element of their very survival that, in BL Miller's set up, Gabrielle seems to be the sole provider of bringing in the drachmas that allow them to purchase supplies through her storytelling and her bartering talent for getting the cheapest price on the goods they need. Unable to do so, their circumstances grow more pitiful even with the help of friends. But it's Xena's desperation not to lose Gabrielle that is at the heart of this story (and many other BL Miller's romances). This was a very touching and passionate rendering of Xena's deep and determined love and the lengths she will go to for Gabrielle. Recommended reading, most definitely. Once again Ares is up to no good and always seems to be the source of their pain and misery. You'd think he'd learn by now - HE IS A GOD. I would love to read the Olympian Gods' rule book on what the Gods can't and can do to mortals.
