I believe this is the same story listed under the authors Skylark and Cath and if it is, it's a superlative read. Cath really knows how to write for Gabrielle holding her own as a warrior. Very vigorous and energetic fight sequences which she has a proclivity for in her other stories s well. Very descriptive in its truthfulness in how a woman, faced with the odds against her, could overcome her disadvantage. This story was very fast paced and adventurous. As I wrote in my other recommendation under Skylark and Cath, this story was way better written, far more original than the the episodes 'Life Blood' and 'Kindred Spirit'. This story would have been perfect for season 5 as it was Xena light, (Lucy being pregnant), and it would have highlighted Gabrielle's (Renee's) skills. It was a great story that the show never filmed. Highly recommend reading this. It really moves. - kazy - Aug-14-2011

This is another enjoyable and riveting story by Cath, Bard. It's so riveting to read her depictions of Gabrielle's graphic fight sequences that are written vividly and honestly in the way any woman, with lethal fighting skills would survive against superior strength or numbers. Along with that is also a very engrossing plot dealing with a deadly illness in which a pregnant Xena might have been exposed to, along with the touching moments between the two women.
