The boundaries of Lucy's, Renee's, and Hudson's relationship towards one another is tested in this parody.
This was a very entertaining read. I wouldn't classify this as Xena. It should be under "original" or maybe not, because Cheaza is dealing with real life people even though she says it's fiction. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. There were instances in this story where it seemed utterly fictional in the way the author describes what Lucy and Renee are wearing - how they dress themselves. It made me laugh out loud. I'm surprised this story wasn't flamed because we know how protective the fans are of Lucy and Renee. Perhaps it was flamed and the website took it down. I wonder if Cheaza got flamed for this story when she wrote it 14 yrs ago. - kazy - Dec-06-2012

Gabrielle deals with her guilt after Maternal Instincts. This is a dark gritty piece.
Heart WRENCHING story, wonderful descriptions of both love and anguish. Dripping with emotions, something Cheaza is great at. I loved it! - katrina - May 26th, 2003

This was one of the few stories written that, to me, dealt with the aftermath of the rift in a way that few stories were able to - and in which the show was sorely lacking in - leaving a gaping hole wide open and unexplored. This ia a moving piece that is also a hard read, watching Gabrielle slip slowly into madness as the only way in which she can deal with her guilt over Solon's death. It's as difficult a read as Peribear's The Best in Love. There are only 2 other fan fiction stories that I think deal with the after affects of the rift effectively. Guilt Love and Forgiveness by BL Miller and The Long Way Home by Jamie Boughen. All other stories fall short of these 3. This is a powerful piece of writing and it will stay with you a very long time. - Karon Reiter - Jan 10th, 2005

I would like to thank Karon for listing these other stories .This one and the ones she listed are a must read!!! - Anonymous - Feb 20th, 2005

Karon Reiter is right all three of those stories are awesome! Take a look at them! :) - Ami - Jun-02-2008

Harrowing and heart wrenching. There are a few fan fics that deal with the rift instead of TBS and this is one of the best ones. Thought the ending was a little rushed, but thats because I would like to have read more. - Elaine - Jun-12-2008

This story still has me saying WOW! It truly deals with the anguish of everything Gabrielle went through, lost of her blood innocence, betrayal of a friendship, murder of a child, killing of one's own child and betrayal of one's own moral compass. The logical conclusion...the lost of self. Well done! It rates about a 10+ on the angnst meter. - mapsnika - Jul-05-2008

Incredibly well written tale and unique telling of 'the rift'. Angst, angst and more angst. What can I say - WOW! I agree completely with Karon Reiter's review. This story is definitely 'The Best of the Best'. - Tryxter111 - Nov-20-2008

UPDATE: "Another Way" by Brigid Doyle is highly recommended as another outstanding depiction of the aftermath of the Rift that I would put in the "rare" category. She does a superlative job of drawing out the torment and suffering that these two women experience over their separation. A keeper for sure, just like Cheaza's story. - Karon Reiter - Aug-16-2011
