After reading Bali, I decided to read more of C.J. Harte. Living in the south, I find this a fantastic read. This should be a longer story - I want more - D.L. - Aug-09-2006

My goodness, this is such a southern story! I love the way Georgia babbles on, and the way Ashley figures out how to shut her up. Yes, we really do ramble, we really do tell stories, and to this day, my mother wants to know the family and background of all of my friends. - JS Stephens - Aug-13-2006

What an utterly charming tale! - Kati - Sep-09-2006

Lovely and enchanting. - Me - Feb-29-2008

Be prepaired to be charmed by this story of C.J. Harte - Callisto - Mar-10-2008

A famous author once wrote: "A Southerner never says in one word what he can possibly say in ten." Truer words were never spoken. And damn, if this story isn't so cute it could go out on a date. It's charming, ma'am, just charming. - jaeygatsby - Mar-11-2008

bleedig great - Anonymous - Mar-18-2008

This story is outstanding. I grinned and read and read some more. She truly captures the south. More please. What happens next? Think we can talk her into the next chapter? - Sarah - Mar-31-2008

What a delight! North meets South and is enchanted, in this lovely heartwarming story. Very funny too. - Georgia - May-18-2008

Nice story! And living in the South (in Macon btw...and I attended Macon State College) and knowing all about the talking and the drawl and the "ladyisms" (ladies don't sweat, they glisten) made this story even better. The only thing that irked me was the plural use of y'all. Not a Georgian thing; we use it in the singular sense. But that's all. Would read it again in a heartbeat. - Jennifer - May-20-2008

Living in the south, I loved this story. Even more this was a wonderful, funny and romantic story. - Lily - Feb-14-2009

Still one of my most favorites story that I return to time and again. It's absolutely charming. No profanity or m/f roles/intimacy. A safe read for a gay woman. Thank you, CJ Harte for this gem. - Teresa - May-15-2009

A very nice read...love the humor surrounding her chatty companion... - BlueButterfly - Aug-14-2009

...can't help laughing, so funny! - easteden - Sep-08-2009

A wonderful story by a talented bard. - Brighteyez08 - Oct-08-2009

Wonderful, sweet, charming story that definitely needs a sequel! I would love to read more about these two!! - Anonymous - Oct-27-2009

Very cute story. I liked Georgia. She had wonderful charm. Very nice. - Lyn B - Mar-08-2011

Honestly Love You by C. J. Harte
Original / Uber | Modern | Alternative | Romance (alt) | Short Story - 18 pages | Finished | Aug-06
Honors/Awards:  #93 in 2006     Top-25 #1.
In 1975, the feminist movement was less than ten years old and had not yet reached the multitude of women whose lives it hoped to change. Women in many towns and/or in conservative churches fulfilled the expectations to marry and raise children. They went about their day to day lives refusing to recognize the nagging voice inside of them. This story is dedicated to those courageous women who listened to their hearts, ignored the prohibitions of their families, friends, and communities, and allowed love to honestly direct their paths. And to the real C and B - this one is for you.
Wow, what a beaytful and touching story! CJ Harte does it again, don't miss this story. And definitely don't miss Dreams of Bali, one of the best long story out there! - Patricia - Aug-22-2006

This SHORT story is simple and nice to read.. I wish it would have been longer to read with their house full of kids..But C.J.Harte left us with a very nice ending that will leave you with a smile on your face and a tear in your eye. I have read your other stories and I too think you are a very good writer.. - carrie - Aug-25-2006

I found this story to be excellently written, and it brought back submerged memories of hearing Olivia Newton-John singing this tune on the radio, and having one of those "aha!" moments. I realized I'd fallen in love with a friend, but knew I would never have her in that way.

Beautiful story, read and recommend to your friends. - Book Cat - Aug-26-2006

Ohh, I love this story...the quiet reflection, that "ah hah" moment..To have the courage to look into your heart and find the truth and acknowledge it...absoulutely beautiful... - BlueButterfly - Aug-14-2009

This was a very well written story. Simple and powerful. These ladies maybe fictional characters but I think it's great to revisit those times and honour those that made very brave choices in a very difficult world. Lovely. - Lyn B - Feb-03-2011

This is a very well written story, and very touching. For the few of us we are lucky enough to have found the love of our lives, 'Last Dance' will have a very special meaning. C.J. A brilliant love story. I will re-read this story many, many times. It touched a deep cord in my heart, making me cry. If you're a romantic, you'll love it. If you're not a romantic, you'll be hoping that this will be your story. Brilliant. - Maria - Aug-23-2009

so touching... - easteden - Aug-31-2009

I am crying ... Beautiful story. - RLA - Aug-29-2010

Such a beautiful story! It's short but it still touches your heart very deeply. I hope I will be lucky enough to meet a woman to spend all my life with.
I don't know if anyone noticed, but the end seems to have double meaning. Something about a dance for a lifetime confuses me. But it's still a happy ending no matter where they dance - on this land or in another world, - as long as they are together. - vacumm_cleaner - Jul-31-2011
