Humorous story where the bard tries to prove herself, with a little help from her amazon friends. The poems at the start of each chapter are actually one big poem called 'Mr. Rochester's Poem,' by Charlotte Bronte, and served as part of the inspiration for this story. The Bulgarian Women are, in the words of the author "creations of the very talented Joanna, author of 'Bitter Treat.' She has graciously loaned them to me, bet she's sorry now, and is responsible for the Bulgarian translations. If you have not read her stuff I suggest you run, like the fanatic Xenites you are, to the nearest Joanna outlet. Read my friends... read!" This is a story of magic. ;-)

Ares enlists a warlord to capture Gabrielle in order to make a deal with Xena: Gabrielle's life for Xena's return to Ares. Seeing no way out of the situation, Xena agrees.
This was an amazing story. It's one of the best classic Xena stories that deals with the dark side of Xena and the ramifications that come with it. Suffice it to say, lots of angst. Brilliant. I loved it. Up there with Jenbob's Third Wheel and A Fine Line. It doesn't get any better than this. This is what you read fan fiction for. - Karon Reiter - Jan 29th, 2005    I loved this story.
