Callisto tricks Xena into drinking the waters from the river Lethe, causing the warrior to lose her memory and forcing Gabrielle to make a sacrifice to get it back.
Very good story. Gabrielle was brave and loving and Callisto was evil. I would have loved to have read a sequel to see how Xena would have reacted. Great stuff. - Elaine - Oct-06-2008

**** SPOILER ALERT **** Interesting tale. I don't think xena would like the choice made. In fact, I think it would result in worse torment -
callisto did win, big time. - Anonymous - Nov-15-2009

This is a wonderfully written story in which Callisto tries once again to tear Xena and Gabrielle apart. Danae weaves a story that is agonizing and tragic, yet reveals a love that is unchangeable. Readers, of course want a sequel, wanting to read how Xena would respond to the heartsickening news, but then Danae's story would no longer be this stand alone tragic classic that it is. - kazy - Jan-07-2012

Travelling with an old acquaintance to his wedding, Xena the Warlord becomes involved with a mysterious member of the wedding party.
This story reads like a Greek legend and if you are familiar with all the different mythologies of Caeneus, you can figure out, I assume, where the story might lead. I was not familiar with this legend nor did I know that Danae had gotten the idea from Greek mythology. All I knew was that I read a damn good story that I couldn't put down and you will too, if you care to read it. As always, Danae weaves a narrative that is titillating and provocative. It revolves around Xena's first love, and the rekindling of sexual desire in a very touching and sensual story. Would have made another great back story episode to Xena's past. - kazy - Feb-10-2012

This is an extremely beautiful story. The way it is written brings a gentleness to this Xena adventure that will stick with you. This is a HIGHLY recommended read for anyone. - Anonymous - Dec-18-2012

I also was not familiar with the myth and even though I could guess where the story was headed it really kept my attention. Engaging and engrossing. - BigZ - Oct-13-2014

Gabrielle tells Xena about her first time with a woman; the result of an attempted rape.
This story was one of the best short stories ever - ever - ever - written. It was so good I kept thinking it was written by Ella Quince who is the quintessential short story writer of the Xenaverse. However, another tour-de-force bard is Danae as well. She's written some of the best classic Xena stories out there like Blood Innocence, That Damned Kiss, Building a Mystery, Cradle of Destiny, Puzzle Pieces and one of my own personal all time favorites that will make you go through an entire box of tissues is Priceless. And I am amazed and cannot understand for the life of me why this story, Live to Tell, only got 3 stars. What's up with that? Makes you realize that one can't judge any of the stories listed here on the stars it gets. This story will blow you away - and it's a multi-layered story It's definitely a story that should you read it again, you will see that there is more to it than on your first reading. This story should have gotten the max amount of stars. - Karon Reiter - Jan 20th, 2005

I think I've read this story four times now and as good as it is in this short form, I still want something of a Part 2 or some sort of 'just a few lines more'. Great as it is, would love a longer version.
Well done! - Kay - Aug-09-2011

Takes place right after the episode "Destiny". Gabrielle deals with the death of Xena.
How I love this story. It has stayed with me over the years. What an incredible read. The author has put down on paper such exact details of what it is like to lose someone and how we remember them and the pain in knowing that this person will never be with us again to make us laugh, to love us, to touch us, to excite us, to affect ours and others lives - that all the anticipation and excitment of loving and wanting to know more about this new person - will never be fulfilled - how empty and painful the heart becomes knowing your dreams are dead - the dreams of being with the one you love and admire and respect and felt was so strong, they would never die - all of it taken from you - to be no more - it will surely make you cry as it did me. This is about Gabrielle's loss over losing Xena in Destiny but it could very well apply to FIN. My heart was so heavy reading this. Powerful read. - Karon Reiter - Jan 23rd, 2005

A very good 'sexual tension' story set in the Amazon camp. If only the ending hadn't seemed rushed. - Corbeau's Voyager - Oct 7th, 2003
