In 1666, in a plague-ridden corner of eastern Europe, a girl suffers a horrifying trauma that leads to centuries of anguish, with no hope of redemption. In contemporary Boston, a woman trapped in a frustrating relationship longs for something more. A coincidental meeting throws them together into a swirl of action, temptation, and heartache.
This is a fantastic story...Even though I do not like vampire stories, this one captivated me until the end. Very well written. This author is very talented. Thank you, Inkubator, for sharing this interesting tale with us. - Summer Sun - Aug 11th, 2003

This was a great story. If you like vampires, this is well worth reading. The imagery and passion made this a compeling tale. - Kali - Oct-12-2006

This is not for Ashes and Light but for offerings Inkubator edits, I think.

Inkubators site hosts a series called Voyages of Diana. To get a taste of this series, try reading A Letter Home or Personal Log. If you like those, go back and start the series with the introduction. It is the least easy to read but important for the following stories. The last story in the series, Liberation, is creepy in spots so approach with caution. I wish there were more stories as there are many questions still unresolved.

I'm a long time fan of the vampire genre, but the last few years has seen a marked down turn in my interest due to the boatload of drek floating around now a days (Twilight-cringe). So I was pleasantly surprised when I finally got up the gumption to read Ashes & Light. I found it to be thoughtful and enjoyable read.
Thanks Inkubator, and I hope you keep trying to get published because if the afore mentioned waste of paper could be a best seller then its just a crime that your story isn't seeing the light of day outside the internet.

A most interesting story and I did have doubts about its ending, but never the less I couldn't put it down. - Tara - Jan-30-2010

gorgeous and not enough... - Anonymous - Mar-03-2010

**** SPOILER ALERT **** A week after reading this story I still have pieces of it swirling in my head...It's truly an amazing story full of wonderfully woven dialog, sad and at times hard-to-read visual imagery. I found myself occasionally reading it very slowly, savoring it deeply and at times I felt I was there, the writing was just that wonderful.Sometimes one finds a story that makes one wish, really wish, they could actually share in the lifes of the characters they are reading about...this is the story. Often times brutal, powerful, and hypnotically poetic, the author has managed to weave a tale of true longing, achingly subtle in its delivery, yet so overwhelming in substance it brought tears to my eyes and a gut wrenching sob at the end. The beginning of this story is very hard to read in its rawness...but do continue, I guarantee it is worth your time... - J_A_K_E100 - Mar-11-2010
