This was one of the best epics I ever read - and it is epic - starting with "The Fortress", "The City", "The Journey", "Meg's" and then finally with "The Lion's Wall". The only epic story that gave this one competition was Baermer's The Peloppenessian (sp?) War - which was an extraordinary piece of writing. If TPTB had to kill off Xena, they should have used Jim Kuntz's series - that would have been a fitting and fulfilling ending to the life of a warrior. While the viewers would have been saddened by her death, she would have died for something worth fighting for and for something the viewers thought was worth dying for unlike FIN which never engaged me enough - made me care enough - that I thought Xena had to die. His writing far surpasses anything the writers have ever come up with on the show. The ending is sometimes difficult to read because it's so well written that it pulls you in to the drama and the immediacy of what's at stake. If you read this series, you will never forget it. I highly recommend all his other work as well. He's an incredible writer who captures the intense and all consuming love that Xena and Gabrielle feel for each other. - Karon Reiter - Jan 9th, 2005 |

Well.... That required several Kleenex I can tell you. I have just finished this, the last in the Lion series. I love Jim Kuntz writing style, pace and perceptiveness. This story, however, was for me the best one yet. A fitting end to our Warrior and her Bard, this was how a FIN should have been. Keep em coming Jim! - Anex - Feb 1st, 2006 Very emotional. You could feel Xena's pain at gabrielle's death and her wish to be with. And Joxer was handled very well throughout. Read all Jim's work, it's fabulous. - Elaine - Jan-31-2008 Jime Kuntz is one of the Xenaverses few male writers but he is one of the most romantic. No paints the love between between Xena and Gabrielle with more tenderness than this author. - CherylA - Jan-31-2008 This is the ending the series should have done. - Lysia - Jan-17-2015 |

This is part of Jim Kuntz's series that has to be read. It's wonderful. It stayed with me long after I finished the story. One of the great bards and great stories of Xena fan fiction. - Karon Reiter - Jan 22nd, 2005 Action filled 'classic' Xena yummmmm! - lesiaf - Feb-03-2008 |
