So you think you understand how the world works, and you think you understand what's going on. And then you meet India, and she's unlike anything you've ever experienced. And suddenly you know only this - that you can be certain of nothing at all.
this is a fantastic, sharply written story--I have no idea where it's headed, but what great ride! - mary - Sep-22-2009

this story is amazing.... can't wait for the next installment. - Anonymous - Sep-22-2009

Well, just a brief mesage to encourage this extremely talented bard o continue this surprising story and to encourage fellow readers to delve into this rich work. The first installments are so promising that I can hardly wait for what's coming. - Anonymous - Sep-23-2009

Xcellent story line.. hope it gonna be made into movie or television. :) - Nien aka David - Sep-30-2009

captivating! one of the bests stories here. - Anonymous - Oct-05-2009

amazing update as always. thoroughly recommend it... - Anonymous - Oct-08-2009

Wow, really good... - Anonymous - Oct-08-2009

Why this story isn't in the top 25 and/or best rated lists - that is something I don't understand. Because it is extremely well-written by a pewrson who knows more than 200 words in English, it has a strong plot, fine characterization and excellent dialogue. It's romantic without being obvious, with the exact amount oh humour (mainly from the dialogues), hurt, and, above all, a love for life.
Read it, girls. It's a refreshing dose of intelligence in the fanfic world. - the_waves - Oct-12-2009

definitely one of the finest stories here. it's original, it's smart, and it's passionate. - Anonymous - Oct-13-2009

This story has a perfect balance of humor, gravitas and scintillating passion. India and Jude are fascinating characters that are fully fleshed out and richly drawn. Not only does it entertain, it succeeds in making you really think about the world and the place these two women have in it. Superb. - Kerowyn - Oct-13-2009

Wow! That was my first reaction when I was done reading this story. K. is an amazing writer. The characters are slowly and well developed as is their relationship. Crafting something new is challenging and risky and yet this effort appears to be seamless. - Kali - Oct-14-2009

**** Spoiler Alert **** Heartbreakingly beautiful. It's been hours since i finished reading it, and it still lingers...not just the memory of it, no... but more so the passion, the rawness, and intensity that it made me feel. It's a bittersweet surrender to love, life, and destiny.

I'll always choose to dream of seeing Ms Waits rise like a phoenix. In my mind, she's the hero that lived forever, with her love by her side. - grey - Oct-14-2009

Man, oh MAN! Perfect ending!!!! - Anonymous - Oct-14-2009

where/when can I buy this book? - Anonymous - Nov-01-2009

**** SPOILER ALERT **** I almost didn't get past the first paragraph as the style is not something I'm used to reading. So glad I stuck it out. It just really works for this story.
I hate to cry..I mean I REALLY hate it and right now I'm sitting at my desk trying to hold back the tears buts it's totally worth it to have been moved so much by this fantastic story. - Red - Nov-05-2009

5 Stars is not enough.
This talented author should be writing movie scripts.I would love to see this story on "the big screen"
Thanks,Pat - PAT - Nov-14-2009

Reading this story was one of those unique moments when you realize that you have in front of you a genuine work of art and each second spent reading it becomes a precious moment you wish you could prolongue. Mere words do not seem enough to describe the talent I believe this author has, and humbled, all I can say is thank you. I loved it. - Mary - Dec-02-2009

I can name on one hand the stories which have touched me fundementally and this is definately one of them. Beautifully written, the author does an amazing job portraying the emotions the protagonist must deal with. In the end, it's a tale about unconditional, and eternal love. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wishes to have a story touch them in such a rare way. - Yuri - Jan-12-2010

So well written. Thank you. - Anonymous - Apr-19-2010

All I can say is ....wow! - JettBlk - Jul-30-2010

For a long time avoid reading this story. Not quite sure why. Today I have the answer. Reading this story was somewhat fluid, and reach the end without realizing it. After reading the last row, time was suspended. A few pages touched me in a unique way. Left speechless. I think that subconsciously I knew, before I start reading this story. Bittersweet, but beautiful end. - Lucian - Aug-01-2010

Excellent! Great and moving story. Absolutely amazing writing. - RhB - Aug-05-2010

This was just beautiful. - Wolf - Sep-15-2010

What a brilliant story. Somewhat bittersweet though. Brilliant nonetheless. I always think, 'what if'. - Jane - Oct-02-2010

Wow! This is a must READ! So moving! K. Alexander, you have truly written an unconventional story that will be remembered. Even the style of writing is unique. Love is powerful moving force! Fantastic Job! - Tena - Dec-27-2010

When I began to read this, I wasn't so enthousiastic. I was a little unsettled by the narration, and this Paul character was positively infuriating. But then, the whole thing began to settle, the whole pieces came into place and then I was able to truly apreciate the genius that is this bard. I've read in previous recommendation that the dialogues were excellent and I so absolutely agree with that! The chemistry just seemed to flow between the characters, bringing this unexplanable intensity to it all. I found myself breathless a few times, completely blown away by the mere words, touch between them. Reading this is a very powerfull experiment, I can not think af a better word to qualify this piece of work. It's powerfull. Powerfull with meaning, with passion, with aching. I'm still shaken, a bit out of my thoughts... Read this. This kind of work has to be aknowledged. - yuka - Dec-29-2010

This has to be the most perfect story. Passion, angst, humanity, love, longing; it had everything. Like nothing I've ever read. I admit I was skeptical at first, but it comes together so perfectly. Don't give up on it just continue reading. You won't be sorry. I promise. - D - Jan-12-2011

I really enjoyed this story. Thank you. - C - Jan-25-2011

It's pretty darn rare to read a story that is both humourous and soul-reaching at the same time. The ending broke my heart in the most wonderful way. Amazingly well written.
- Michelle - Apr-09-2011

Truly one of the best pieces of fiction you will ever read. Do not miss this. - Mysfyt - Apr-10-2011

Incredibly great writing. So many visually miraculous scenes as if you, the reader, was there, living inside the scene with all of your senses. Good, profound characters ; you will deeply care about them.
- orcsage - Feb-01-2015

I wanted to believe all these reviews and kept reading. At the end I wondered if all these revews were for a different story. i scratch my head because when i finished this story I was reminded of the cliche 'a tempest in a tea cup'. Lots of build up and this story went no where. SpOiLeR! It also had the worst ending, to make matters more puzzling: why all the great accolades and reviews??? - Samantha Carter - Feb-05-2015

Brilliant! The banter was exceptional, my heart ached for some time after though, not to mention the tears I cried. - Dy J - Oct-08-2019

When psychotherapist Dr. Claire Walsch arrives at Fairwater Institution to (unwillingly) consult in the case of the soldier who speaks to God, she has no idea what sudden - and frightening - direction her life is about to take.
What an exciting start! I really hope there's a lot more where this came from :D - Tash - Oct-22-2006

I'm hooked! Keep it coming please. Tense, intriguing opening and tight writing. Very different flavour to the other story, but if anything even more engrossing. I think I'm going to enjoy anything this writer wants to share. - Anonymous - Oct-28-2006

you've rapidly become a favorite. - feral - Nov-17-2006

Loving it! :) - Kati - Nov-21-2006

Pretty good. I'm waiting for the next parts. - Kitty - Dec-01-2006

I'm hooked! Wonderful fast-paced story but with slow, in-depth development of the characters. Can't wait for more. :-) - Melusina - Dec-07-2006

Great story! If you like action, you'll love this fic. I'm completely hooked! - Anonymous - Dec-09-2006

Riveting and engaging. It is tightly written and well-paced. The character development is presented in dialogue and actions, not in lame expository text found throughout some lesser fiction stories. This is quickly becoming a story I'll remember, on par with some great stories like: "Surfacing" and "Persistence of Memory", "The Nanoverse Series", and "The Growing". Highly recommended! - a fan - Dec-10-2006

Great story! Loving every line of it. Keep it coming. - 3creeks - Dec-10-2006

Fantastic, edge-of-the-seat adventurous and emotional story! Fabulously narrated, such lovable characters! Also, thank you, K. Alexander, very much for regular updates; it's great to have some period of suspense but not long enough to forget the previous chapters :) waiting and clamoring for more! - Kati - Dec-20-2006

Excellent story and looking forward to the next part! The author offers a nice change of pace without the stock formula for many ubers. Don't let the short description put you off - this story will suck you in immediately! I couldn't put down my ebook reader! More please? - Katelyn - Dec-24-2006

This story has kept me on the edge of my seat. It has more twists and turns than a giant slalom ski run! I am completely addicted. Please send update soon. - gillian - Jan-13-2007

WOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!An great writer is born! This story is perfect, with greats characters, an suspense I coldn't sleep, until I ended this amazing story! You're the best, K Alexander! - Leth Cross - Jan-28-2007

Bloody hell! Fantastic pace, offset with gripping characters and a solid core of human emotion. This writer has arrived with a bang - if you haven't read this story yet you're missing out. - purviss - Jan-31-2007

'Here here!' to all the comments, magnificent story! and i think i'm commenting on it for the second time but can't help it - it's just THAT good! thank you K. Alexander, you rock :D - Kat - Feb-01-2007

Read this when I should have neen writing..what more can I say! Thoroughly entertaining and well written, but then k is a brilliant storyteller. (See 'The Official Guide to Rescuing and Maintaining Damsels in Distress, another very funny and clever story). - msprism - Feb-04-2007

I have to say from the description I wasn't sure about this story and I passed it by. I think if was the talking to God bit, silly I know. However it came to my attention again when it appeared in the top 100 for 2006 and I decided to give it a go and boy I wasn't disappointed. It's a very exciting read, with a quick pace and a very well written plot. Nice idea K Alexander. I also liked your other tale about Damsels in Distress. I'm looking forward to reading some more of your work. - Sai - Feb-06-2007

This is a page-turner, a can't put down kind of read. Thank you for a well-written story. I loved the river analogy toward the end, and the quick paced, written action of the entire first part of the story (on the run). A 'bonnet' or two showed up, along with an occasional policing verb that made me grin.:) A simply fantastic read. - Anonymous - Feb-08-2007

From the first chapter of this story I was kept on my toes, wondering what turn it could possibly take next! The first half is a breathless action-packed blur, and the second intriguing and no less thrilling for the slower pace. The main characters are flawed and hopeful, and likeable for the honesty that comes through in their actions and behavior rather than what it is they say. All in all a tense and clever read. Thanks, k alexander, for a brutally tender story! - Anon - Feb-11-2007

The wonderful thing about reading is you get to escape your own drama for a bit and immerse yourself in the drama of someone else. K. Alexander took me on a wonderful journey that was edgy and compelling. I'll wait patiently in my own drama until she comes to take me away again. - A.C. Henley - Feb-14-2007

Excellent story!! Very well written! Do not miss this one!! I got to admit that the synopsis kinda kept me away from reading it...Guess it was the 'talking to God' thing. Thank goodness I did click on the link! :) And I couldn't agree more with A.C. Henley... This story made me escape my own dramas for some time, and took me away on a wonderful journey instead. That was the best of it, believe me. One more time, Thank you K. Alexander. And please keep up the great work!! :)) - Cris - Feb-17-2007

This story had me GLUED to my monitor until 5 a.m. I can WAIT!!!! until the next update. I was captured from the opening and was impatient to read what happened next. You ROCK!! - K.LEWIS - Apr-10-2007

Meet Rebecca Jarvis. You could paint her as a heroic figure who vanquished the troll for the hand of the fair lady, if you really wanted to. You'd just have to ignore the fact that she provoked the poor troll, and the fact that she loses her good judgment quite regularly ... and the fact that she's currently lying through her teeth. Meet Big Sexy. You could see her as the knight in shining armor, rushing in to save the underdog. If you tried very hard, that is. You'd just have to ignore the fact that her method of attack mostly involves multi-syllabic words, and the fact that she encourages delinquent behavior ... and the fact that she's just made the daftest mistake of her life. Meet love. It bites."

Some Ubers are so close to perfect that they just touch your heart. They make you cry, make you smile, make you laugh, make you think, and stay with you for a long time. This isn't one of them."
Ha, ha , ha !!! Been a while since I read such a funny fic ! You did my day K, thx ! - Condorcet - Apr-18-2010

For anyone who has read a lot of XWP-based (Classic, Uber, whatever) fanfiction, there will be very few words or phrases in this story that you haven't read at least, oh, maybe a hundred times before. However, the way that K. has put them together makes this a truly snicker and snort-worthy read.
You might be a trifle confused in the beginning, but stick with it. Once you make sense of it, it really is worth the effort. - Ianic - Apr-18-2010

You simply amaze me. Excellent story. -Silverwriter01 - Anonymous - Apr-21-2010

Princesses are not exactly known for their sense of humour - especially if they've been waiting up in a tower for their knight in shining armour to rescue them...only to find the result completely unacceptable. Knights are not exactly known for their delicacy and tact - especially after they've risked life and limb (well, nearly!) to rescue fair maidens...who turn out to be much less than grateful. One terribly odd and untraditional fairytale!
please, ma'am, may i have some more? - orphic - Feb 16th, 2006

i think i'd have to call this one 'wonderfully odd' rather than terribly... the polar opposites of dry matter of fact knight and flights of fancy princess in a prissy mood is none the worse for having been tried before, because this time the pair is in the hands of a writer with a delightfully wicked eye and tone. i enjoyed this one thoroughly. i look forward to more from this author; a view only increased by her latest work. - feral - Dec-10-2006

Absolutely excellent story! Funny story with excellent characters. Please read! - Anonymous - Feb-10-2007

The writers other work (deus ex machina) inspired me to read this one too, and altho a very differnt flavor, I really loved The Official Guide too! Very lovable main characters and a bumbling adventure that makes you laugh. A lot. I'm completely in love with a made-up knight :S Next story? - Megan - Feb-15-2007

Unbreakable by K. Alexander
Law and Order: SVU | Modern | Alternative | Drama | Novella - 66 pages | Finished | Jun-07
There are things in this world that seem unbreakable: a water-tight case, the love between a father and a son, resolved principles. ADA Alexandra Cabot. But when a series of unrelated events set off unforeseen consequences, both Olivia Benson and Alex Cabot are about to be severely tested. After all, strength can hold you together - but sometimes it can also tear you apart.
okay, it's official, now you started on my favorite pairing and as usual, you write wonderfully.
