Good story to read. Well written and touching. I'm surprised it hasn't been rated here before. - Lyn B - Feb-23-2011

excellent story with great flow, full of sadness and hope. - Punakass - Apr-20-2011

With the first novel I read by Kate Sweeney, I became a complete fan of her writing. This short story, like each of the 5 novels I've finished so far(and I just purchased 2 more), reveals Ms. Sweeney to be an absolute master of good old-fachined story telling; she hooks me from the very beginning. Every time. An avid reader and senior citizen straight woman (tho Ms. Sweeney now has me thinking anyone, at anytime, could fall for"the right person," no matter the gender), I cannot resist her characters. She breathes life into every single one, her protagonists all strong, bright and independent women yet with flaws and vulnerabilities that make them intriguing while still believable. The romance is there, and certainly enjoyable, but it's not the point! The story, the character development and the irresistible humor is the point. Each piece of Sweeney fiction I read quickly becomes a can't-put-it-down addiction. (Now I'll never get my housework done!) - Barb - Jul-29-2012
