Nice western--the world needs more lesbian cowboys! A bit too short for my taste especially as the characters are just screaming to tell more of their story. - ES - Jul-28-2007

In the Midst of Tribulation by Mary Griggs

A small group of survivors attempt to create a community in the post-war world.
Oh that rare breed, the well considered story. This is a tremendously well written tale. It calls for great sensitivity on the part of the author who obviously possesses it in spades. She has also adeptly provided the characters with rare depth for a novella. A lot of effort has been put into the research for this piece and I strongly suspect our author is obsessed with the outdoors - the story is all the more credible for it. That is not to say that every situation is entirely credible (I did find myself wondering when a fuller explanation was going to be given for one or two events) but considering the number of strands to the story, only the pedants amongst us would be critical of that. Nevertheless, this is a fine story with a satisfyingly plausible ending. It gets my highest recommendation - believe me that's rare! - Pam - Nov-22-2006

Excellent read, interesting characters, and a cool survivalist twist on TEOTWAWKI. I definitely recommend it. - joan - Mar-22-2007

A sequel would be a wonderful surprise - please, please. This was a very captivating and "realistic" what-if tale. Could I see this happen? - absolutely. I really enjoyed this tale - learned something too !! - x/g fanfic fanatic - Sep-27-2010
