I first read this about 6 years ago, and I still remember the impact I felt after finishing it. It is still the only fanfic to have made me cry (I have read countless stories over the years) and I still tear up after numerous reads.
This is one of the very few fanfics that sit on my hard drive on my PC. Once in a while I will pull it out, remember my love for this wonderful show and feel that gutwrenching feeling all over again.
Powerful, moving, and a must read.

I was very late in reading this story and all I can say is that this is what Xena fan fiction should be like. An emotion that will always stay with you no matter how many Xena stories you read afterwards. If Rob needed to kill off one of the characters, this story would have done the series justice in the complete and utter devastation of Xena's loss. Something we can all relate to. Tearjerker! I agree with all of the other recommendations. There is no sex in this story -- but there's no need (never thought I'd say that!) There's a lot of tender heart tugging love.
