All Our Flowers by Phantom Bard
Xena | Alternative | Vignette | Very Short Story - 7 pages | Finished | Aug-03
Cast: Gabrielle, Xena, Seeger
This is a series of five vignettes inspired by the lyrics of the Pete Seeger song, "Where Have All The Flowers Gone," as recorded by The Kingston Trio. The author was going through her old 45's after watching a tape of "A Good Day."
This was a well done and very original composition in the way she configured her story of certain Xena episodes with the Pete Seeger and Joe Hickerson song 'Where Have All The Flowers Gone?', a reflection on war and death. - Karon Reiter - Jul-04-2011

Clonefic by Phantom Bard
Original / Uber | Modern | Alternative | Drama | Short Story - 43 pages | Unfinished |
Cast: Xena, Gabrielle, Ray, Janice, Ares, Alti, Lucy, Caesar, Eve, Rob, Covington, Angie, Renee, Melinda
Part 1 of the Clonefic Series
Series List: Clonefic, Clonefic 2, Clonefic 3, First Principals, Ghost Warrior (The)
The TV series, Xena Warrior Princess gave rise to a number of memorable characters. First are Xena, the Warrior Princess, and her soulmate, Gabrielle, the Amazon Queen. Perhaps the most popular variations on their characters are Janice Covington and Melinda Pappas. Beyond these four archetypal figures stand Annie and Mattie and the Clones. The episode settings imply that Annie and Mattie are contemporaries of the Clones, with all four living in modern times, but the souls of Xena and Gabrielle seem to reside with Annie and Mattie. So, what of the Clones? Who are they, really? Are they merely simulacra, or the closest things to Xena and Gabrielle in the modern world? Consulting "Send In The Clones" for their backstory leaves some gaping holes and suggests some answers. It is from those answers that this story grows. The story demands a more plausible history for the Warrior Princess and the Bard of Potidaea. Previously, all we knew about Xena and Gabrielle came from the TV series. Their adventures were dramatized by the production company from translations of scrolls found by Covington and Pappas. Only now can the truth be told, by those individuals who can lay claim to it in the first person. Meet the real soulmates. (Revised Version 11/30/2003, original contest version, 2/27/2003).
The revisions you made to the clonefic were very good but very few. Its mostly the same story that I first read 2 months ago. But the beginning was done very good because it will grab the readers attention immediately cuz the lab wasn't as neatly packaged as it was shown on tv. The Xena and Gabrielle in your clonefic story seemed more real as historical figures and real warriors than the fantasy warriors they portrayed on the show so I especially enjoyed that part. The story was great and the revisions made it better. Could've used a few fight scenes, LOL. I have one question, the historical claims the clones were telling Ray about? Were Ray's historical claims made up by you or were the clones historical claims made up by you? Since I don't know too much about the period they were talking about, I don't know whose claims were made up by you the author, and which claims are really historical fact. Either way, great story. - Mark - Dec 16th, 2003

Very interesting to see clone G and X figuring out the real world. I like how Ares was portrayed and I can't wait to see what happens. The part about the recloned Callisto was really cool. Very imaginative. - Kerr - May-07-2009

Clonefic 2 by Phantom Bard
Original / Uber | Modern | Alternative | Drama | Novella - 125 pages | Finished |
Cast: Xena, Gabrielle, Callisto, Marcus, San, Columbia, Lefferts, Williams, Ares, Martial, Danielle, Debbie, Phillips
Part 2 of the Clonefic Series
Series List: Clonefic, Clonefic 2, Clonefic 3, First Principals, Ghost Warrior (The)
The TV show, Xena Warrior Princess provided a few glimpses of the Destroyer of Nations. She was portrayed as a creation of Alti, and inhabited the time after Xena had left Lao Ma's Chin and before she entered the Norselands. She was, perhaps, a more extreme version of the Dark Xena, who had existed since her betrayal by Caesar and the killing of M'Lila. Like much else, the TV show misrepresented those accounts of the Destroyer of Nations that actually appeared in Gabrielle's scrolls. In fact, this "alter-ego" was a product of the increasing attentions of the God of War. He gifted Xena with a superior ability to harness her battle-mania, her katalepsis, to become an unrivaled killer. After becoming Ares' Favorite, Xena allowed this full-blown aspect of herself free rein on the battlefield, making her a terrifying celebrant of war. She complimented and outlived the "Evil" Xena, and then persisted, submersed by the will of the "Good" Xena, the Warrior Princess. Still, the Destroyer of Nations peeked out of Xena's soul, making brief appearances to exercise her wrath. Perhaps the truest test of who the clones were lay in whether or not Xena still hosted the Destroyer of Nations. Had Alti succeeded and recreated this aspect of the warrior? (Completed 12/20/2003).

Clonefic 3 by Phantom Bard

"Clonefic Part 3," by Phantom Bard, (243 pages, sequel to "Clonefic Part 1 and 2"). The clones of Xena and Gabrielle were set adrift in the modern world, but their core beliefs were still those of the 1st century BC. For them, the 21st century was alien and confusing, a place where evil spun out of control. Their deepening involvement in the modern world led to a rapid accumulation of heartbreak and anger. Finally, an ancient enemy was revealed and a destiny avoided long ago was unleashed. Recreated by a vengeful shamaness, driven by fate, and provoked by a goddess, the Destroyer of Nations goes to war with Ares' Blessing and the Conqueror rises to power. What hope can the modern world have of surviving against such ancient rage? (Completed, 8/23/2004)
The Clonefic trilogy,is a wonderful read, and if you like Xena fanfic, this is a must. - Michael - Nov 9th, 2005

Have been reading fanfic for years, and would put this author, right up there with the likes of L J MAAS, and Missy Good. - mjf - Jul-06-2008

This part of the series is absolutely awesome. The bard has truly honed her "tools", the written English language, to a razor sharp degree. Background research is spectacular and I sure learned alot. The story in this part is fascinating and engaging. For those who enjoy the work of a first grade wordsmith, DO NOT MISS THIS ONE. - Olivia - Jul-12-2008

Fallen Angels by Phantom Bard
Original / Uber | Modern | Alternative (Mature) | Horror | Novella - 67 pages | Finished | Oct-04
Cast: Kerry, Merrik, McKenzie, Angela, Walsh, Anastasia, Lancaster, Ana
Honors/Awards:  Top-25 #1.
Having been given free will in the moment of their creation, the orders of angels had the capacity to make choices. Among these was that of entertaining pride and ambition. It is said that one even went so far as to ascend in aspirations to enter heaven by right of his own will and become the equal of God, to usurp His prerogative of Creation, and to take a station above all other angels. For this, God banished Lucifer from heaven, throwing him down into hell, and with him fully a third of the angels, being those who had followed in the footsteps of his rebellion. These became numbered in latter days as demons under the dominion of Satan. Among the fallen were a Hashmalim of the Angelic Order of Dominations, separated from her beloved Tarshishim of the Order of Virtues. And having lost heaven, what greater misery could follow a fallen angel down the ages? (Completed 10/21/2004 for Halloween).
Riveting story, wery well told and based on obviously well researched biblical premises! Loved it. - Cybnana - Nov 13th, 2004

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! - Anonymous - Feb-01-2008

Well a bit of "The Exorcist" and a dash of Argento's Hell trilogy. Not bad. Plus, the author's own skills... Not bad at all. - Mani - Oct-20-2009

Fruit of the Loom by Phantom Bard
Original / Uber | Modern | Alternative (Mature) | Drama | Very Short Story - 8 pages | Finished | May-01
Cast: Xena, Gabrielle
Originally written shortly after the episode "When Fates Collide," in reaction to the comportment of the characters in the closing scene following the destruction of the Loom of the Fates. It has not been changed to take into account the subsequent episodes, especially AFIN. This is a short story exploring what the destruction of the Fates' loom might really mean. (Revised Version 5/14/2003, Original Version 5/20/2001).

Gabrielle's Faith by Phantom Bard
Xena | Alternative | Drama | Novel - 213 pages | Finished | Apr-03
Cast: Gabrielle, Eve, Xena
This is the story of Gabrielle's life following the disastrous mission with Xena in Japa. A badly disillusioned Gabrielle travels the known world, searching for something to restore her purpose and her faith in life. Along the way, she becomes aware of a threat to the eternal destiny that she was to share with her soulmate, and a future too horrible to accept. Bound to her destiny with Xena is the destiny of her descendants, her ancestors, and the Amazon Nation. She must use all the lessons she learned from her teacher, become all her soulmate tried to be, and serve the Greater Good on a scale that even her beloved Xena had never imagined. The innocent farm girl from Potidaea will become the greatest hero the ancient world has ever seen.
It is so hard to believe that you could create a totally febricated story while strictly adhearing to the Xena cannon of episodes so presicely. This story was so Xena episode style and Gabrielle was sooo in character that had this been submitted in script format for the series to close Gabrielle's storyline on the show, this definitely would've been accepted!!! The circumstances Gabrielle faces never seems out of character and you effectively captured the essence of her spiritual search and growth in this story as it is portrayed on the series. This is my favorite Xena fanfic ever because it gives a closure to Gabrielle's character that would be expected to come out of the Xena cannon. - Mark - Dec 16th, 2003

In An Age Before by Phantom Bard
Lord Of The Rings | Ancient | Alternative | Adventure | Novel - 890 pages | Unfinished | Mar-05
In this Silmarillion/Xena Warrior Princess crossover, Helluin Maeg-mormenel, a dour Elf of the Noldor, returned to Middle Earth from the Blessed Realm in the exile of her people. She hoped to explore the Hither Lands as she had been unable to do on the westward march thousands of years before, but what she found instead was a world gone far downhill. Follow Helluin's story across almost 17,000 years into a bewildering world grown strange beyond her imagination. Along the way learn why Galadriel is jealous of this elf, and why Sauron seems all too interested in Helluin's dark side.
I just wanted to let folks know that this is a great story! If you are a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien (not the movies but the actual books!) you will really enjoy this story. It's like reading "The Simarillion" but from a one person POV. So join Helluin on her adventures through the ages of Middle Earth and enjoy!(Don't let all the Elvish language scare ya...go read it!) - elfcat255 - Apr 5th, 2005

If the 'Silmarillion' daunted you, this tale surely will NOT! While it is as intricate as the Tolkien tale, it is more beautifully constructed and much more engaging than the original, and of course, the tie in with the Xenaverse is classic! Helluin's take through the ages and her interactions with all the denizens therein leads you though this cleaverly woven tale that will keep your interest for as long as this author will continue to tackle this already monumental piece of power writing! Brava! Brava! - Anastacia13 - Jun 4th, 2005

What a fantastic find! I'm only about 20 parts into this story - but I wanted to say how much I enjoy it. The author does a fantastic job telling the tale of Helluin in the style of Tolkien's own works. If you're not very experienced in all things Tolkien (like myself), I recommend keeping the TolkienWiki (http://www.thetolkienwiki.org/) handy. It helped me with the first few parts, and now that I've gotten a better grasp on some of the terms, I can't keep away. - Jen - Feb-04-2007

Wow. What a story! Couldn't put it down! Go for it, read it, love it! - Gorms - Apr-25-2009

Wow! - Lea Ann - Jan-09-2010

"Paternal Instincts" answers many of the questions left by the episode, "The Furies," and defines a father's love. Real Vampires by Phantom Bard
Original / Uber | Modern | Alternative (Mature) | Horror | Novella - 60 pages | Finished | Oct-03
Cast: Valerie, Kate, Val, Medea, Nightwings
This is an atypical vampire story, recommended for mature audiences. Written for the Royal Academy of Bards' 2003 Halloween Special, this story of supernatural horror is based on current and historical beliefs about vampires. A modern vampire discovers the grain of truth behind the myths. The characters Valerie McCormack, Hekate Colchis, and Medea, who appeared in 'All Hallows Peeve,' are introduced in, this tale.
This is simply a wonderful story. For once a beautiful vampire/Goddess story that has a happy ending. Too many end tragically. I would love to read more of these characters. Beautiful work Phantom Bard! - Laura - Jul 20th, 2004

This story is extremely well written. The author came up with a very interesting storyline and exceptional characters. This is definitely one of my favorites. - Jen - Jul 22nd, 2005

Very interesting story, believable characters. I would have preferred a little bit more angst and accusations from Valerie over the murder and mayham of Medea. - Anonymous - Mar-02-2007

Awesome story. Well developed and researched. - Burntdruid - May-06-2009

Well, it's true I don't get out much anymore; which is why I missed "Real Vampires". I enjoyed it very much. I liked the litle twist about how a vampire is created. I hope to read more about this imaginative world. - darkenedkarma - May-11-2009

Very original story, great read, from a great bard. - mjf - Nov-16-2009

**** SPOILER ALERT **** Very intriguing concept of a clandestine mythology and modern day meeting. This author brings the angst you enjoy in hoping for a happy ending. I highly recommend you read this very well researched and described story with its very romantic tendrils woven in it. - XNU - Nov-25-2009

Temptation Of Eve (The) by Phantom Bard
Xena | General | Drama | Short Story - 24 pages | Finished | May-03
Cast: Eve, Jesus, Elisians, Livia, Eli, Court, Crassus, Messiah
It is twelve years after "Path of Vengeance", when Eve left to teach Eli's message in Indus and Chin. For all of those years she has remained true to the Way of Love, and Livia's violence is far in her past. Yet now, at the One God's command, she must go to the Temple of Jerusalem to be the protector of a young prophet, as her mother once protected her. Implicit in this mission is the temptation to return to the Darkness, for violence seems inescapable. Now Eve is torn between Eli's Way and the One God's mission, and her soul hangs in the balance. Will she become Livia again, or worse? (Revised Version 5/26/2003, Original Version 8/1/2001).
I had a wonderful time reading "The Temptation of Eve" because I am a born again Christian, good job on the Biblical aspects by the way, and because Eve is my 4th favorite Xena character. Xena, Gabrielle, and Callisto being the first 3. This story, like all of your Xena fanfics, was done really well. I found Eve to be in character and your knowledge of kabbalic principles is impressive. The circumstances of the story matches a predicament that Eve would definiately find herself in. I was astonished by the drama Eve faced as her temptations of darkness grew and how skillfully you crafted the balance of the darkness and light within her without having her appear to be double-minded, which the Bible clearly condemns. I enjoyed reading this story so much that I'm printing out copies for my mother and my god-sister to read because they love anything Bible related. When you began talking about the parralells between our universe and the Xenaverse, it struck me as funny because "The Temptation of Eve" parralells with my 2-part Eve pilot script. Both stories are about Eve finding a balance between the way of love and the way of the warrior. For future referrence if you ever plan to write another Eve story, read the book of James in the New Testament. Its a very short book that's 4 to 5 pages in most Bibles and gives Christians guidelines to properly following the faith. That's what I'm using to explain Elisian principles in my script. Actually, I'm using the book of James in the New Testament and the book of Leviticus in the Old Testament to make it sound like a crossroad religion between Judaism and Christianity. Once again, great story. - Mark - Dec 16th, 2003
