Careful What You Wish by R. D. Elliott
Xena | Alternative | Drama | Novella - 61 pages | Finished | Jun-02
Cast: Xena, Gabrielle, Jax, Argo, Mouse, Tyrus
After weeks of Xena being colder then usual and oblivious to the love of her bard, a wandering troop of entertainers is a welcome break for Gabrielle. The welcome break turns into a nightmare for the bard and warrior. Xena struggles to save her bard, but salvation will only come when the Warrior confronts the guilt raging inside of herself. This hurt/comfort tale is R. D. Elliot's first, and it's a well-written story beginning to end.
Kudos to this first time author well written well thought out reads almost like a script! - Solari - Jul 6th, 2002

I really enjoyed this story emotionally powerful.Well done - norma thompson - Nov 9th, 2002

This story amazed me. While reading along with the story, I feel so sad of what happen to Gabrielle and Xena. It moves me what Gabrielle has gone through, and Xena help along the way. You be crying through this story. R.D.Elliot did a wonderful job in this story. You're a good bard. - Bay - Jan 2nd, 2004

This disturbing story brought me to tears several times throughout the reading. This is a dark and gut-wrenching piece as Xena struggles to repair the emotional and mental loss of Gabrielle's damaged mind. I found parts of this story so cruel and harrowing in the depiction of Gabrielle's brutal treatment into submission and so agonizing as Xena tries to put back the broken pieces of a ruined Gabrielle whose mind and body is so shattered by the repetitive brutality that was inflicted on her, that she is catatonic. Brace yourself for an emotionally powerful punch. If you like angst ridden stories like I do, this is it. This goes into my 'best of' category for classic Xena storytelling. - Karon Reiter - Jun-07-2011

In this X&G tale, after Solon's death by Hope, Gabrielle sacrifices herself to Xena to protect the Amazons and hopefully help Xena to heal.
A very vivid story. Hard to read but so well written I had to go on to the end, hoping the author was going to have it all work out. - Anonymous - Jul 4th, 2002

I started this story a bit late at night & despite how tired I was from a long day, I could not stop reading R.D.'s fanfiction. Its quite different compared to the show's Bitter Suite. I definitely went through an emotional roller coaster and felt so rewarded by the end. Very nice job, R.D. Thank you again! ;) - Red Hope - Jun 19th, 2003

An interesting story about the reconcilliation after the rift. Much too onesided for my taste but probably a good read for people who want Gabrielle to suffer. - Anonymous - Feb-23-2007

Powerful and gripping. It depicts two women at the brink of utter self-destruction. One courts madness while the other drowns in hopeless despair. It gets to a point where the GabDrag seems like a sun kissed blessing in comparison to the torment these two put themselves through. Gabrielle in particular is a very harsh mistress to herself. If you like exploring possibilities of the Rift in one of its darker yet ultimately more satisfying incarnations, this is well worth preserving right through to the end. Highly recommended. - Uzu - May-07-2007

This was an amazing story of love, loss, grief and forgiveness. I was riveted throughout this incredible tale. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Xena and Gabrielle and their love. - Luvyduvy1 - Apr-23-2012

Pledge (The) by R. D. Elliott
Xena | Alternative | Romance (alt) | Short Story - 15 pages | Finished | May-03
Cast: Anise, Gabrielle, Xena, Artemis, Jax
R.D. Elliot manages to capture the characterization of Xena and Gabrielle while also weaving an intriguing tale. In 'The Pledge,' our warrior is forced to answer for some of the things she said to Gabrielle, and in doing so, must find a way to keep her bard. This is an entertaining, quick read that I found myself reading over and over again simply because I wanted to relive the dynamics of Xena and Gabrielle.
This is a short sequel to "Careful What You Wish", tying up some emotional loose ends. - Anonymous - Jun 2nd, 2003

Touches by R. D. Elliott

Related Episodes Blind Faith (Xena)
Cast: Xena, Gabrielle, Argo, Tanos
Written as if the story would have taken place before the episode 'Blind Faith,' r.d. elliot gives us an unusual setting for Xena and Gabrielle to come together. A sweet tale that's an enjoyable read.
I've read most of R.D. Elliot's work. I really enjoyed them. Ocassionally I do get a little confused about who is doing the speaking or actions. I reckon Touches would be my favorite out of the lot since its a good twist. Overall, the fanfiction is excellent like the bard. - Red Hope - Jun 17th, 2003

What Price The Greater Good? by R. D. Elliott
Xena | General | Drama | Short Story - 27 pages | Finished | Apr-05
This is a what-if story. In "The Greater Good", we go to the moment Gabrielle stands with a sword to Talmedeus's throat. And there it all changes because grief can cause us to do things we've never dreamed of.
Another great story by this author. As always, well-written, nice characterisation and an angsty, involving plot. I would love to see RD take on a Conqueror story, as I think that genre would really suit her style. Thanks, and please keep em coming - baobab - Mar-21-2006

An incredibly powerful story. Well done! - Souzan - Sep-08-2010

Always thought Gabs was too quick to forgive the agony Xena put her through in the TV episode. This is a much more realistic plotline. - Anonymous - Apr-05-2011
