Part 2 of the Charioteer Series

More adventure, more drama, more romance - add a war to be stopped and a sweet love story or two - Smitty has (amazingly) TOPPED The Charioteer.
Smitty is one of my favorite authors. This is a person who was born with the gift to tell a story. She is so incredibly gifted, that I forget I am a reader. Her words become the truth, a reality. The Amazons of Dahomey was a fantastic follow up to The Charioteer. EMPOWERING.... - SHANE - May 23rd, 2002

Susan Smith has a unique gift in telling a story. Though I cannot see the Xena and Gabrielle from the TV series in her story, but she had taken the characters of Xena and Gabrielle into another world of her own creation filled with drama, adventure, and romance. When I read this story, I always thought it more of an uber than classic Xena fiction, though it is not exactly uber and more of classic. I think only a great story teller can do that flawlessly. Thank you. - BYL - Mar-14-2006

It was a good and inspiring piece of work, though that Xena seemed strange for me.. - XS-DARKLORD - Dec-21-2008

this is a great read. try it. - Anonymous - Jan-05-2009

Part 1 of the Charioteer Series
Series List: Charioteer (The): In the City of Har, Amazons of the Dahomey (The)
A plea for help from the Kingdom of Har (located near Egypt) opens this fantastic tale. Smitty constructs an intricate tapestry of love, romance and adventure. Her depictions of Gabrielle and Xena are deep, detailed and true. Get thee to the Library with all haste!
Brilliant! Fantastic! Terrific! Engaging! Entertaining! Intriquing! Um I may run out of superlatives, but I would definitely recommend 'running out' to read this story! For starters, it is very well written with grace and style. It is a tale in the true tradition of story telling. Incredibly descriptive (umm, a little hit and miss with ancient geography, but hey.)you really feel drawn in to the world of Har.The characters of X & G are very nicely developed within the tale, while still be familiar from the show. Well done. Off to read the sequal now. - XenaVirgin - Nov 18th, 2005

This is and the sequel are excellent. Well written, attention to detail, and IMHO well worth the read. I'm sorry this author has given up or lost her muse. - ~M - Jun-29-2011

Amazing story!! This author is something special. She has a true gift and we are lucky enough to get to reap the benefits. Don't miss this one. It is a rare treat. - Believer - Apr-07-2015

Dead Come Knocking if You Leave the Screen Door Open (The) by Susan Smith

The black-haired girl sat on the wooden table holding a crystal skull. There was a likeness of feature between them that would have pleased her-had anyone been bold enough to tell her.

Death Cult of Lydia (The) by Susan Smith
Xena | Modern | Alternative | Drama | Novella - 115 pages | Unfinished | Mar-06
Links: The New Library Of Alexandria
Part 3 of a Series
Series List: Death Cult of Lydia (The)
This is the last in the Har stories. Death Cult takes up where Amazons of Dahomey lets off, and finishes the trilogy. I started this story years and a lifetime ago. The world has changed since. I took it up again as a birthday present for my freind Storm, who introduced me to Xena in so many ways. Historically, this is a pure mess, so suspend disbelief and enjoy.

Of Drag Kings and the Wheel of Fate by Susan Smith

Smitty strikes again! In this delightful uber tale, a modest college professor meets an extraordinary girl. Deftly told, this story is one of the most deeply Romantic and TRUE stories I have ever read. Once again, why are you still here? Go read it...
This has to be a story I stopped the world for. I holed up in my room, and read this story straight through, forgoing sleep to finish the entire story in one sitting. Drag Kings has a sequel that finishes the whole story beautifully. I can't praise this enough, I never really thought of being attracted to drag kings but this has opened my eyes. I can't praise you Smitty enough for this beautiful and engaging story. I've read it twice since I first read it a month ago.. wonderful, brava, bravo and all the sentiments which promote congratulations. Thank you. - DesignGeek - Mar 13th, 2003

Contrary to the tag, this is NOT unfinished, however you do have to hop around a bit in the archive links to find all of it. It is INCREDIBLE. As the other reader mentioned, I too, stopped the world for this story and read it to completion. This story is wonderful. I hope that the Athenaeum could get permission to host this so that it does not get lost forever, because it is truly wonderful. This is a story that I highly recommend, and is romantic and warm enough to melt stone. Allow yourself a good weekend to read this one, because you will not want to put it down!!! - -Aerows- - Aug 14th, 2005
