Hercules and Iolaus never went through the "Gauntlet" or "Unchained Heart" episodes so when they find Gabrielle lying in the middle of the road with no memory, they assume the Warrior-Princess Xena and her army are the cause. | |
I love 'what if' stories and this is a good one. As the teaser says, the episodes "The Gauntlet" and "Unchained Heart" did not happen, however, the episode "Warrior Princess" did in which Xena turns Iolaus against Hercules, which I always thought was a big plot hole, considering their strong friendship, I don't care how much in lust you are, unless Iolaus was under a spell, which he was not. Anyway, in this story Xena changes on her own, which is not a big stretch considering another gaping plot hole that her change was due to Hercules, when, in fact, not only did La Mao have a far more significant influence on her and still she did not change, and then later, her saving of the baby in "The Gauntlet" before Hercules speaks those infamous lines, "There's a better way," shows she was already on the road toward change but that her evolution came from within, not through La Mao and not through Hercules, although, I am sure they helped. In this story she changes on her own, without Hercules and befriends Gabrielle. However, what she did to Hercules and Iolaus in the episode "Warrior Princess" was never resolved and so, she must convince them that she is no longer the Destroyer of Nations anymore and that she has a deep and loyal friendship with the amnesic Gabrielle who has an affirmative gut feeling about the warrior and seems to be on the verge of confirming it to the clueless duo, while Xena torturously misses her friend, wanting her companionship back desperately when the story says, to be continued. Except it never was. I wrote the author but my email was returned so this story remains unfinished. Too bad. It had a great start. I wish there was a bard out there that could take all the wonderful unfinished stories and finish them. That would be great. - kazy - Aug-16-2011 Though the story is unfinished, it's still worth a read since it presents a very interesting what if situation. - Ivo - Mar-15-2012 |
