Thank goodness for the fan reviews, or I would have missed this awesome story.
I haven't stayed up till the wee hours of the morning reading anything in a long time, but this was just too good to stop.
Such a delicate issue is dealt with and it really would have been easy to mess it up, but the author takes care to handle every situation just as it should be.
A wonderful story.

**** SPOILER ALERT **** Thank you for a gorgeous story! You already know (but the rest of your readers don't) that I'm in Alaska for the summer doing lodge work, so I wait tables, clean rooms, and wait more tables during the day, then I read fanfic on my computer all night, sleep, and repeat. I get really bored waiting tables - there's only so many times you can ask a customer how many fish he caught before you start wishing the entire species never existed! I find that it helps enormously to have a story in my head while I'm working; it's kind of like a separate little world that interests and engages me. Madison and Paige's world was certainly that. I finished A Safe Place in three days because I couldn't stop reading, but during and after the reading process, the story lived in my mind during my working hours too. I feel like you took me on a journey, and I learned more than I can articulate along the way. I felt what it was like to be healed, I felt what it was like to heal, and I felt what it was like to see the world as safe, and beautiful, and shining, and different, through the eyes of one's beloved.
You have a gift for writing, and I hope you continue to write and post. This story was well written, well paced, and well told, and there were some lines of dialogue that were strikingly funny. Besides the main characters, my favorite character was Julia, and&it would be hard to pick a favorite scene, but I particularly enjoyed the first few hospital scenes, the trust exercise, and the evening of sailing. It would be hard to pick a favorite moment, as well - this story really was more about the journey - but I drew a lot of things from the transition, where there were moments when Madison did not have the right to just go put her arms around Paige, and then when she realized she could do it and it would be okay.

I've read this twice and when I checked, I saw I haven't rated it nor recommended it the first time. So here I am, ashamed, feeling awfully guilty to not have told before how much this work is amazing.
