Dr. Mel Pappas and Dr. Janice Covington have been together for a couple of years and now live in South Carolina, when a restless Janice is approached to head a Mayan dig in Honduras, which has so far, been disastrous. Although Janice tries to keep Mel from following her, Mel joins her, and of course, danger follows, as the fate of the previous expeditions becomes as clear as Mel and Janices' unfortunate roles in it. Through courage and support from some unexpected sources, the two eventually come to terms with their lives which gives new meaning to the title of this piece.
