Beta Reader Forum?

Postby lizzib1 » Tue Sep 01, 2009 3:37 pm

Hi,

My name is lizzib and I'm a lurker and a beta-reader!

My excuse for the former is that I'm a shy Brit!

My reason for the latter is that I love all the great work the writer's do and not being in a position to write anything half decent myself, thought I'd like to show my appreciation by helping out with the beta-reading.

There are forums available for several of the wonderful bards. I just wondered, with my first posting, if it was possible to touch base with some fellow beta-readers.

Hi. I'm a beta-reader too, as I've found that we are called. Editing a friend of mines story right now, for the second time lol
This is my first post too :big grin:

Nice to meet you Lizzib :)

Hi Meshebe8,

How are you finding the experience? I've only signed up very recently but have already been involved in three very differnet projects and actually had to turn work away!

I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Making contact with new people. whilst hopefully contributing positively to getting new work posted.

Are you listed on the beta-volunteer page?

Well I'm not a beta-reader because I neither that cool or talented. But I would like to welcome you both as you post your first posts. :big hug:

And even though it's only 7:24am, I award all beta-readers my star of the day. :star:

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome.

I've noticed you've posted more than a few times on the forums (or is that fora - only kidding! - that's the beta-reader in me) So thank you for taking the time to include us.

I'd write more but I'm desperately trying to pack for a long weekend in Switerland! I'll hopefully catch up better on my return.

Switzerland!? How cool! Tell us what it's like when you get back! lol

Sorry for my delay, I've been busy with relatives coming down and school work boggin' me down :sad2:

Anyway, I'm really enjoying reading my friend's story, it's very different than other stories I've read (and wrote) in the past. I like it though. And, lol, she'll enjoy reading what i've written in the margins I'm sure :big grin:

I'll need to try to make it around this site a little more. I'd like to take on some more work but! If you haven't discovered/thought/noticed yet, I get very busy and I'm not entirely good with deadlines *understatement* I'm not listed as a beta-reader, how do you go about doing that? lol I'm lucky I have an avatar :P

I know what you mean about meeting new people and seeing their work. I'm more of a visual artist (but really enjoy reading and editing) so I frequent deviantART more often than this site. I'm trying though! :winking2:

Hi Lizzib, I see you posted on my drinking topic so I know you got back okay. And yes, I do tend to post a lot. I greet everyone so no one will go feeling unloved or unnoticed. Well, except spammers. I hope you had a good weekend.

MeSheBe, I think you should come to this site more. We're a nice crowd, hardly every bit. As for signing up to be a beta reader, I'd encourage you to do so but you did just say you are very busy so you should probably wait until you're not so busy.

Dear Silverwriter, I think you must mean bite. With an E.

Best of Wishes for the following day of hellish college classes,
Meshebe

:whistling:

Oh, and thank you Bardeyes! :big grin: I'll register, but only as soon as I know I can handle it :winking2:

Hi,

Yep, I got back safely! The flight out was a bit bumpy, only the second time i've heard 'will the cabin crew sit down and strap themselves in - immediately'! The weather was great, the company excellent, the food and wine superb, scenery amazing with glacier fed lakes, snow covered peaks, vineyards clinging to hillsides, 11th century castles.... all-in-all a fab weekend and highly recommended to anyone you likes fresh air and the big outdoors.

The webwarrior warned me that it can be feast or faminine with the beta-reading. I've only just started and had to ask her to put a block on requests because I have enough projects already. But I thoroughly enjoy it. In your posting on the website, if you volunteer officially, you can ask webwarrior to add something along the lines of 'small projects only for the moment' or something similar.

I think I may have missed a couple of points I wanted to answer and apologies for lumping all the responses together in one reply in trying to 'catch-up'. I can't believe the number of posts that have accumulated against a lot of different topics in just four short days!

I love the forum, even more so now that I'm no longer just a lurker! Keep up the good work y'all!

Dear Meshebe,
Your right, I should had used bite rather then bit. I can sea the error of my ways and will make sure too never let it effect my work again. I can't promise their will be no more errors in my posts but I will try my beast.
:batting_eyelashes: :kiss2:

We'll try to keep up the good work, Lizzib. Switzerland sounds awesome.
