it's an old geeky gamer expression I first heard of several years ago online. Mostly used by really young gamers, it's to express the ultimate "omg what the heck is going on OMG!" situations. Or just a general "... that's kinda screwed up". I swear, I didn't make it up!

Or, as it would be used ingame "JOO NOOB OMGWTFBBQ KS KS KS KS KS KS KS!!one!!1one!"

If at all possible, I think you just confused me even more!

Hey, sorry to butt in. I don't know much about the American school system but isn't scheduling a test on material covered during a school approved absence of a portion of a class without the opportunity of a revision class discriminatory against the students taking the school approved activity? School teachers are in a demanding and difficult profession but looking at this from the other side of the tracks, people are trying to prepare for college and anything that adversely affects their overall performance should be avoided. When an admissions officer in college or uni gets a prospective student's results, one needs to know that these are real results reflecting a student's academic performance on an equal basis with every other applicant.

well put RhB. Vnud, if you dont mind me asking, what field are you going into that is so competitive? (my apologies if you've already mentioned this way back when you first started this thread). I would put in my 2 cents on the whole AP testing/ HS thing, but I dont think I had normal high school experiences. I went to an all girls private catholic school ( terrifying, I know). annnnd, I knew what college I wanted to go to ever since I was kid, and being a legacy there (my whole fam for generations went to the same college) it required minimal effort on my part to get in. Evidently if you're a legacy the requirements for SAT/ACT and GPA drops significantly. soo yeah, never did the whole AP thing, and from what my friends (who were in the smart and AP classes) tell me is that it really wasnt worth it--most of them had problems with their college of choice accepting the credits. I hope that doesnt happen to you though, that would suck.

did see a funny Facebook bumper sticker though, it had a picture of dice...or die (whatever the singular form would be..I'm having a brain fart) and it said "how AP tests are really graded". made me giggle.

I have to say though, most of what they tell you in HS is bullshit. all the stuff about college and "no one cares if you go to class so you have to make yourself go," etc, etc-its a lie. atleast it was at my college. the only classes I ever failed were ones that I didnt go to regularly. I would show up, take the tests, get As and Bs, but b/c of the attendance policies, they failed me. every class I ever took in college had attendance policies, even the ones with hundreds of students in one class. oh well. sometimes you just gotta say screw it, shit happens. you just gotta not let it get to you too bad and still have fun while you can.

ok, done with that rambling mess for now lol. I apoligize for my profanity. hope everyone's weekend went well. and the so-called "sunshine state" has been under rain clouds for days now. peace!

Bravo Rhb, it does discriminate against me, however I cannot do anything to help my situation. What's done is done, and I'll find out my score tomorrow. I'm not expecting a very high one though since i wasn't prepared. ANYWAYS....Colz...I'd like to go into psychology, but what I was talking about was just any college in general. It's getting harder to get accepted now, especially with in state colleges that would prefer to accept an out of state student because they can charge more.

On another note! YAY FOR THE RAIN. Bad for me because I can't get a damn signal outside...because of the rain lol Which is why I haven't posted since. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week though. I finally finished the growing So very long...but very much worth the wait. Does anyone know if there really is a sequel?

I've never seen hail, and i've never seen anything remotely similar to snow here in Florida. So yeah....I'm excited Plus they were small, so there was no real danger from them.

I've been reading fic since first discovering it when I was fourteen and wandering through Dawson's Creek websites (oh how young I was...). I recall it being poorly written, but just the idea of fanfiction perked my imagination right up. Heh...it surprised me to realise that reading about Joey/Jen was much more interesting than Pacey/Joey. That was a surprise!!

Interestingly, I discover a lot of fandoms through fanfiction, rather than the other way around. I was well immersed in Xena fic before I watched the series. That's also true of the Stargate universe, Nikki & Nora, Birds of Prey and SVU. Currently going through a South of Nowhere and Popular craze. It kinda sucks being in Australia and not getting any of these cool shows with so much subtext and maintext in them. Thank god for Amazon.com, ebay and multi-region dvd players!!

Anyhoo...it's late, or early depending on your perspective, so I'm off to bedfordshire.

Right now I'm dreading the coming week or two....because I'm going to have to mow the yard...*shudder* it's really hot, and mowing just...isn't safe lol you could get a heat stroke. But I have to cut it soon because it's really overgrown *sigh* I'm going to miss the winter months....when no grass grows. It only dies from frost.

It's the first month of winter, but it hasn't been too cold as yet. We have very mild winters, which I really prefer. Not even a hint of snow in Sydney, huzzah!

Sad and overcast today, but perfect weather for snuggling beneath my blanket and watching South of Nowhere. Loving weekends. Why oh why do work days have to exist?

Well it has been an interesting couple weeks. Work, work, and more work! I just wish I could retire now. No such luck!

The weather has been hot here in South Florida (oh no, now Robin may now start her "hot" rants again - LOL) Starts hot, rains, then gets hotter! Haven't seen hail in a looong time. I remember a few years ago we had a series of bad hail storms. Some unfortunate cars in the neighborhood had so many small dents it looked like they had acne.

Well looks like I'm going to the GCLS conference in Orlando in July. Anyone else going? I'm excited but anxious for some reason.

I know this is a short post, but it's late and I've got...wait for it...WORK tomorrow.

Long time reader, first time poster. This is all very...er... US-centric you know. I, too, have been to Miami. It was in January and so I guess it wasn't too hot - quite lovely actually. I am from Scotland, so the idea of alligators in your pool is so foreign to me, it's laughable. We don't have anything in Scotland capable of eating you or even giving you a nasty nip (unless you count hoary bartenders selling low grade blended whiskey - or scotch as you might say).

I live in Switzerland now and there is a thunder storm going on as we speak.

You know it's not the price of the conference that will get you, it's the hotel! LOL I haven't traveled much since 911 so wasn't I surprised to find out the hotel charges $8.00 a day to park. WTH???? Not like I'm staying at the Motel 8 for God's sake!

Hey Mec - the hotel should have transportation to Epcot. I LOVE Epcot! Normally we play a game I like to call "drink your way around the world." If you've been before you've probably played. For those who are reading this that have not partaken (sp?) in this ritual let me explain. You begin your bold adventure in front of a massive ball and contemplate which direction to go, left - which will take you to Mexico (Don X) or right - to England for a room temperature (blah) Bass Ale. (Most of crazy American's like our beer ice cold). Well I'm sure you can guess the rest. Whichever path you choose you just work your way to the opposite end without disrobing, scaring the tourists, or vomiting on Mickey Mouse.

I digress...

Also, forgive me Helsangel for completely being rude and ignoring your hello. I was so caught up in my own thing...how rude of me. BTW I love Switzerland. I visited many years ago and stayed at a quaint little hotel on Lake Lucerne. It was one of the best times I had in Europe. Wasn't too wild about the food though. I would be Kate Moss thin if I had to live there.

And you Aussies - JEALOUS! Okay maybe not about the past fires...but what a beautiful country AND you're close to New Zealand. More beautiful territory.

I'm off to read another fabulous story (haven't selected yet).
