Nexon is almost famously weak about penalizing players for if they break the ToS from the game. For the past few years, up until very recently, they'd even let known dupers, exploiters hackers, botters continue to play with the Maplestory Mesos game through bogus second chances, if the players were prohibited in the first place. We currently have a community which actually defends botters, and to a lesser extent dupers, and that I feel that is in most part due to Nexon's activities before. By not taking a tough enough stance against people who break the ToS, Nexon has slowly taught the community that it's ok to violate the ToS. Its ok to bot, since you will not get banned, and even if you can you can get another chance pretty fast. Or at least that was the situation until only a few months ago.
The current community has been educated that there is nothing wrong with breaking the ToS for your personal gain. That's why we had so many men and women misuse that the Bounty Hunter exploit decades back. That's why there were numerous people abusing the Hunter's club harness, the glistening east egg enthusiast exploit, the codex stat tap from last year etc.. . And it has gotten so bad that now Nexon is faced with a distinct, bigger issue. There are now numerous players who participate in the like that Nexon simply cannot ban all them from the game in precisely the exact same time because it could be too large a part of the population. And that leaves Nexon together with the dreadful option of allowing things like that slide or punishing every participant in the game, which only reinforces the problem as it strengthens the notion from the area that dividing the ToS is ok.
And, frankly, this stems from the all or nothing approach that Nexon requires towards penalizing players. Its ban them , or do nothing to them. And that's the center of the problem. Nexon should implement a lively punishment method where they can punish players relative to their actions in the game. Do players who take part in a Shiny Easter Egg Buff exploit deserve a ban? No. Do players who participate in an exploit like the bounty hunter one deserve a ban? However they need to be punished. The following are thoughts that I've about potential punishments for various infractions.
Botting for amounts:Make their personality level 10 and lock them there. If amounts are so important for Maplestory 2 items, make sure that they remain on the bottom of the rankings with that personality. For repeat offenders you're able to look at banning the accounts.
