Where did Michelle Marquand's stories go?!

Where did Michelle Marquand's stories go?!

Postby Jude » Fri Dec 03, 2010 10:37 pm

Does anyone know what happened to Michelle Marquand's stories?! They are no longer on the Athenaeum. I was in the middle of Part II: Kit of Family, and I came back to it a couple hours later, and whammo! It's gone! :crying2:

You can find her stories here, scroll down to her name.
Some of the links are geocities sites. Just change .com into .ws to read them.
And some of them (like the one you're in the middle of reading) are doc files.
Who knows...it's probably better to copy them onto your harddrive anyway...before they disappear forever.

We're terribly sorry about this, but Michelle wanted all of her stories removed from the net. She is concerned that Paramount (or whomever owns the rights to Star Trek) will begin suing people for copyright violation, so I suppose she's being proactive in protecting herself. We did point out the fanfiction.net has 27,000 Star Trek stories...but... *sigh*

I know, we're disappointed as well. They were really good stories, and I'm betting that a lot of people were in the middle of reading the series.

Just a "random" bit of web advice. web.archive.org continuously archives the Internet though there is a 6 month delay in pages appearing there from the time they are indexed. I do believe that The Athenaeum is included in that archive. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. ;)

Thanks, Charlie, I had already found that website, unfortunately only bits and pieces of her stories are listed there...

Bardeyes,
I cannot access web.archive.org. Apparently my access is denied. Ugh...

Does anyone have Love Multiplies, the last story in her Raising Naomi Series?
And does anyone have the stories from the follow up series?

If so, or if someone would be willing to go to web.archive.org, and send me the stories, I would be eternally grateful!

:o nooooooooooooo. I was in the middle of reading the last story of the Sato series, Vengeance. Talk about left hanging.
Has anyone really been sued for writing not for profit, all in fun, fanfiction?

Does anyone have Michelle Marquand's email address? I still need to feed the bard.

The Athenaeum pages of her stories aren't collected yet in the archive.

Try this for THE RAISING NAOMI SERIES.
All links are working except two. Try these instead for LOVE MULTIPLIES:PART 1 and LOVE MULTIPLIES:PART 5

And here are the SATO SERIES. All doc files.
Use this link for Part 3: Ancient History

Let me know if you still need help getting them...

We really feel badly about this. We’re receiving a steady stream e-mails wondering where the stories went. I assume that most people that were reading the very long series hadn’t finished it yet. Though we’d never tried to convince an author to change their mind regarding removal of their work, we did try hard in this instance. Normally when an author removes their work, it’s been up for years, and most people have had a chance to read it. We really apologize for that not being the case here.

I hate to lose the stories, but I'm mostly sorry for Michelle having put in all that effort, and then feeling pressured to remove it. I am grateful for all the interesting tidbits about Star Trek history which proved VERY helpful in a few strange circumstances. If anything, the Star Trek site got a lot more of my time and attention during the reading of the series. MM, thank you for your time and I wish you well in your writing endeavors. I just know that any ubers you write will have an immediate following as a result of proving your creativity in the "Raising Naomi" series.

That's such a shame she has withdrawn her stories.... Raising Noami was n still is one of my favourite star trek stories... Fingers crossed Michelle can be presuaded to come back :-)

Oh NO! I was right in the middle of Vengeance. You might know that one is not available anywhere. *sigh*

This is so sad, I really wanted to read the last one. Maybe she could be persuaded to leave it up for a brief period of time so that we could save it to our hard drives. I grabbed the rest of them, but I didn't get a chance with Vengeance and I just started reading it the other day.

Sad to see such a great series vanish.

A very helpful person just sent me the last Sato fic - 6 today, and I still need to read it. I'm thrilled to have the last story, though since it's been quite a few months I may have to go back and reread the last one! Does anyone still need Sato 6? Just to spread the joy...Nelle

Thanks for posting the links to Michelle' stories. I thought I'd lost them for good. I didn't know there was a 6th installment to the Sato series. Nelle, could you please email me Sato 6 at Baraka_es at hotmail.com. Thanks in advance! :D
