This story deals with the aftermath of the Rift in the way few stories were able to do. It is another rare portrayal of the heartache and torment experienced between these two women that cannot be healed with embracing their pain or by ignoring it while they are a part, but must be addressed with confrontation, no matter how painful, because it's that anguish and that misery which brings the warrior to her knees. It is so heartbreaking and gut-wrenching that it brought me to tears. I would certainly put this in the same category as Cheaza's 'Did he who made the Lamb make thee?' Once again, this would've made a very affective episode in dealing with the Rift, something the TV show failed to address to its fans. I don't know how I overlooked this story, but I did. Perhaps it was the the author's frequent depiction of the Xena and Gabrielle relationship being portrayed as stern mother and errant child in her fan fiction that kept me away but this story definitely redeems her. - kazy - Aug-16-2011 |

A great story from a legend in Xena fanfiction. There may not be much in the way of subtext, but the love is there for all to see. Go read for a bit of nostalgia and remember just how good classic fanfic used to be. - Kerry - Jan 15th, 2006 |
