I don't usually read uber, but something intrigued me and I'm so glad I did! Very believable, and with the 'Xena/Gabrielle' characters drawn in a way that made them fresh, while still relying on the old behaviors we've all come to know and love. This is my favorite Conqueror story. Gabrielle is a healer and Xena inadvertently crosses her path while Gabrielle is in the field picking herbs from an illicit garden. It's the only Conqueror story that I've shared with family/friends. There is the certain violence but it lacks the sexual violence that the other stories commonly portray. I read it often.

i like conqueror stories.. eventhough they are filled with cruelties, there is also the all conquering love present.. i liked this story too, but i missed something in it.. maybe the build up of emotions between the conqueror and the bard.. taking away the slave or rebel side of gabrielle also deminished the feelings between them.. they weren't palpable in this story.. but over all still a nice read.. - xtra dog - Oct-22-2011
