This piece is masterfully done. Each character has depth but does not inapropriately cross over the boundries created by the first person narrative. I was moved by this piece and only sorry that it was over when it was done. The mystery unfolds with the reader sometimes a half a step ahead of the narrator, and somehow that's just enough to prepare us to survive the whirlwind. This is an amazing novella that I have read at least 4 times now. Surprisingly enough I still find myself reading until the wee hours of the morning because I can't to put it down. I definite must read!
