I've read everything else by Julia Goldman but for some reason I had avoided this one because I thought it was purely a Xena/ Lao Ma centric story - and goodness we all need a little Gabrielle in our lives - but I was so wrong.

I promise you this - if you read this story your life will be better. Julia Goldman is one of the greatest bards in the 'verse. Every word, ever sentence is sublimely crafted. She knows Xena and Gabrielle better than they know themselves, which is why she can so successfully transpose their stories or alter their experiences.
