So I went and signed up for another forum.... heh.

I've not been keeping track at all over the last 4 or 5 years - around the time I stopped writing fanfic *ducks in case there's flying things* - and it's good to see that sites like this are still so active.

So yeah. Hello and stuff.

Hey Yuri and Verrath,

It's amazing to me how fast weekends fly by. Sunday night I'm saying to myself...what the H happened? Monday mornings I wake with a groan...back to the salt mines. Like most folks, I'm sure, I have a exceptionally stressful job. This is in part what keeps my muse hiding in the sock drawer. If I could just get her out, but she's not budging!

I am soooo behind with the goings on with whats hot on the net. My friends have been pushing me to sign up for Facebook which I did this weekend. Of course I don't have any real good pics of myself so I had to dig deep! LOL I'm so glad I bought a digital camera recently. Now all I have to do is cycle about 100 miles a week then I should be able to post a new pic in about 5-months. :big grin:

Have I read anything by Verrath??? Hmmm...I'll have to check it out. Always looking for a good tale. Glad you said hello and hope you'll come back for more.

I started Larisa's recent story Kicking and Screaming. It seems a bit angrier than I remember her previous writings. Funny but different, either that or its been too long since I read her other stories and forgot her leanings. I still love her work though.

Ciao for now,

Andy

Hey Yuri, happy belated B-day! When is your prom? If you dont go this year, you should definately check it out next year. I only went my senior year and I'm glad I did. It was pretty fun and its kinda like one of the many rights of passage for high school, ya kno? lol.

Man, I spend a weekend away and have like 30 posts to catch up on lol. Im glad so many people are joining this discussion/keeping up with it. And as for the favorite authors thing...when I found out Larisa had a new story I did a little happy dance and my roommate looked at me like I was crazy. I cant wait to read "kicking and screaming!"

I also love anything by A.K. Naten, LJ Maas, Advocate, T. Novan, Alex Tryst, B.L. Miller, and Kim Pritekel is probably one of my all time favs. And Vertigo's stories quite literally make me laugh out loud.

I actually escaped from the confines of my house here in bama and drove to FL for a weekend of drinking on the beach (gotta have some chill time before exams) and I must say, it was awesome weather. Hot, but not too humid and the sun was shining. For all you floridians in this forum, you ever find yourself in St. Pete near Treasure Island beach...you must check out Caddy's. Its an awesome bar that sits on a private beach.

I must say, I am quite lost with this computer/forum lingo...this is the only forum Ive ever belonged to and I am completely inept when it comes to new technology. which is sad considering I'm 23 and I think its like a requirement for me to know this stuff haha. Oh well, I'm trying to learn, its just a slow process :)

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Happy Cinco de Mayo! I'm off to continue studying (and by studying I mean procrastinating by reading fanfic)

Hello verrath, Welcome. :) Hey Andy *waves*

Hey Colz. Thanks :) Umm...I think my prom is in like two weeks. So I'm pretty sure I'll go next year. I just have no idea what to wear lmfao I will not be wearing a dress....ever. So, i've gotta shop for nice clothes. Next year will hopefully give me time to think of something.

"kicking and screaming" was really good :D classic larisa. I love it. Also, I'm keeping up with her Operation Matchmaker. It's hilarious :ROTFL:

I've only belonged to one other forum...and that was on Imdb. I made a lot of good friends on there and I know quite a few people worldwide. It's fun when you can trust people like that. I never got into facebook. I've only got a myspace...and I have no idea what the hell a twitter is...sounds like an endangered bird.

Oh and it's my gf bday today :D Happy birthday honey, I hope you've had an amazing day. I look forward to many more in the future.

Wow, birthdays, Prom...and other stuff. You people sure do live full lives. It's all I can do to drag myself out of be at 5 AM to get ready for work then drag myself home to get ready for class. I've learned to appreciate PB&J again. I even have my dog in classes. We go on Wednesday nights. (Anal much) Why yes, that describes me perfectly!

I thought I'd list some of my favorite authors and or novels. I have to say If I could only recommend one book for the rest of my life it would be Bad Grammar by Phryne. It's a BOP (Birds of Prey). Say it with me..."Birds of Prey". No it's not on the discovery channel and you'll never see any of those animal show guys trying to grab a meta human by his or her tail. My other all time favorite is Venezia by Vivian Darkbloom. It was so severly beautiful and upsetting. It was tearful yet gave hope for eternal love. At least until you find a hooker who looks like your lost love; then you only think about your wallet and watch going missing.

Oh, I slid down the sand at White Sands. I'll give you the highlighs of this escapade. Some of my friends and I had heard the park was going to be open for a midnight deal. So, we packed up our alchol and what ever we could find to slide on and off we went. Well, it wasn't open. But, being Military Police I knew a back way in and the combination to all the locks. So, off we went to have some fun. Here's the thing; DOD guards don't like it when people sneak into the park. As it happens neither do the Airforce base Police. That's how we got in. We went through the Air Force base to the back gate. Then the White Sands MP's show up. Luckily it was my platoon and the on call duty officer was my Platoon Seargents wife.

Now picture it, DOD pulls up and we drunk women know we're screwed. But, that didn't stop us. We attempted 3 to 5 second rushes from bushes to dunes as cover in an attempt to get to our cars. Didn't work. Spot light caught most of us and we had to sit in the sand (which got into my shorts. it's a short trip to more unpleasant places after that). Needless to say DOD was pissed but my Platoon leader ran interference. Ah, good times.

Robin aka darkeedkarma or DK or Robbie or Gage (that was supposed to be my name until my Dad put in his two cents). I like it better. How difficult is it to change your name legally? Wow, I'm so off topic. Someone should reel me back in. A good bait would be Swiss Rolls, keep that in mind.

Ta ta.

HAHAHAHA three to five second buddy rushes trying to escape back to your cars?! thats awesome. I cant stop laughing :ROTFL:

I'm in the Army so I'm trying to picture a bunch of drunk military women doing that, its quite hilarious. I went out with the guys from my platoon last night and as we are leaving one bar to go to another they start walking in a fire team wedge and doing the hand signals for rally point and such. It was pretty entertaining.

anyway...just wanted to comment on Robin's post cuz it made me laugh. Im about to go to my graduation...wish me luck that I dont trip when I walk across the stage! lol. Its almost the weekend! yay!

Robbie, Robbie,Robin,DK, Gage, where is the next BOP story that you are going to write for us? TOF could have a sequel, or an a original is most welcome too. I'll love ya forever kiddo if you write it soon.

Sorry all, just trying to give darkenedkarma a little encouragement. Its nice to see people using the forum to interact and share a few words with each other.

A few of my fav authors Darkenedkarma (sucking up here) Darrt, Fantasy, Vali,. well I could use up a lot more space but I'll leave off for now. Oh just started the Kim Baldwin, Xenia Alexiou ELS series, so far so good!! PS. DK's BOP favorite story by Phyrne "Bad Grammar" was incredibly awesome. Extremely well written. The prose is remarkable. You do not have to be a BOP fan to appreciate the writing style and talent of this Author. I read it on the recommendation of DK, for which I will be forever grateful. HONEST!! :big grin:

Scotti, my fine feathered friend. Everyone's been wondering where you went. You need to stop by the other forum and let them know you're alive! How was vacation? You did hit Disney didn't you? You'll be happy to know I am working on two things but I've started classes and I'm not sure how long writing them will take between assignments. You're such a suck up but it's flattering anyway.

Sinclair...to what graduation are you referring. College? AIT? That litle experience at White Sands was pretty fun. You know, if they would have pursued some kind of disciplinary action my ETS could have gone bye bye. Glad that didn't happen!

So, my puppy Parker is done with doggie school and now starts Mommy and me training. We've been assigned to teach her how to "Place". The training consists of using a elevated board where she's supposed to go when we say place. In order to get her to it and keep her on it we use treats. Now, Parker knows it's hers. She's quite possessive of all her things. However, our Siemese has taken to sitting in the middle of the place board while she stares at Parker. Boo Boo is feeling quite plucky since he had his arthritis treated. Parker tried to take back her place board and was mauled. Needless to say the "place" training isn't going well. In fact, she tends to run away when we say place. So brave. To be honest, I've been giving Boo Boo a wide berth. Since bringing Parker home I'm fairly certain he's been in colusion with my other cat to kill me. One of them has been on my pillow. I'm allergic to pet dander. It's a sneaky way to off the mommy. I'm not sure he understands the food and treats come from me. Lori forgets to feed them. :D

Hi everyone!

Might as well say something here since I used to be a lurker as well.

My name is Sofia and I'll be 27 on Friday, but if anyone ask, I'm still 25 :don't tell: :whistling:
I live in Sweden with my daughter and tbh I wish I lived in USA that seems FAR more intressting to live in than Sweden
I've been reading fics for a few years now and writing as well but I keep 'em to my self and to close friends, I don't feel confident enough to share to the world, even though my best friend say my novels are nobel prize stuff :rolling eyes2:

hello Jaenia! welcome! It may sound interesting over here, but to me, Sweden sounds like an interesting place. Just starting listening to this band from there called Sahara Hotnights...they are quite awesome.

And to answer Robin's question, I just graduated from College (No more school for me!) and commissioned as a Lieutenant. Its been a busy weekend, lots of ceremonies and packing and moving and such. Its all kind of strange, I feel like I just graduated high school last year, not four years ago. makes me feel old lol.

I hope everyone has had an awesome weekend and happy mother's day out there to all you moms!

Hello heathstar *waves* and scotti *waves* and jaenia *waves*
It's nice to have new people :D

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Congrats Colz :D

Well.............I had a hell of a weekend battling my computer and internet connection. For the past four days its been down...and I've been getting frustrated. sooooooo I've resorted to going outside (in the blistering heat....its nasty right now) to get a signal from one of my neighbors. I torture myself to come back to you beautiful people and the world wide web. The lengths i go...*shakes head*

Anywho, I went to this beachhouse restaurant out on the beach last night. Had some really good mahi mahi and some calamari...it was amazing :D And the sunset was beautiful. I got some really good pictures. That sunset really does make up for the brutality of the weather here.

I wanna go to sweden too. lol and it really truly does sound a lot more interesting than here.

ahahaha robin. I totally pictured in my head your cats pulling out planning sheets and coordinating which one would off you lol right when you step out the door they run out and get the spread sheets of the house lol

I hope everyone has a great week. I dunno if I'll be back soon because of my internet but I will return eventually.(tomorrow if i can :) )

And here's another lurker ....

I've been hanging around the Athenaeum for the last ten months (or maybe longer ... the internet can be such a time sink), picking up stories to read through the Top Lists, Reader Recommendations and from the forum. I'm relatively new to the X/G and Uber genres - I watched the show sporadically, but the stations here tended to move the show to different times and days without much notice. I will admit that I was starting to wonder if there was some sort of conspiracy going on when a number of the print books I had been reading featured tall, dark, blue eyed women paired with short, blonde, green eyed women. The light went on when I discovered the RAOB and Atheneum and I found a number of earlier pieces by authors I recognized. I've found myself pleasantly surprised by the variety and the quality of stories available online - oftentimes, much better than what is available in print.

I'm Canadian, 40 years old, have written a few original pieces that may one day find their way onto the Athenaeum and hope that I'll start writing again now that other things in my life are settling down a bit.

One last thing - I hate writing introductory posts.

Hello all! Newbie here! :D

I've only been lurking on this forum for a little while, but I've used the Athenaeum for years.

I started writing Xena fanfic last August as a result of a challenge set up in the Subtext Central forum on the Talking Xena message board.

So far I've completed five stories (there's a link to my index in my signature), but I'm working on several more.

I'm looking forward to talking with the great people here!

Well...it could be Radiosonde Observation. That's what Google claims.
I have a sneaky suspicion that it really stands for Royal Academy Of Bards though.

Naw verrath, don't feel bad. I have been enjoying this site for many years and I can honestly say It took me quite a while to figure out what RAOB stood for. For some reason I saw it on a t-shirt at cafepress.com and a little birdie with a sledge hammer hit me in the head and I finally got it. (sigh) oh well there you have it. :big grin: At least you had the gutz to ask. A true idiot has taken years to figure it out for herself. (um did I just write about myself in the third person?) I should have paid more attention in writing class. No offense to the rest of the idiots if there are any.
