I found this story truly riveting and I wait for each new addition with great anticipation. The tale this bard has spun is not only spellbinding but is dotted with delightful characters that are so lifelike they come right off the pages and materialize before your eyes. I highly recommend this story as a must read for anyone who enjoys excellent writing. - Lady J Mar 31st, 2003 |
I really enjoyed this story, and was pleasantly surprised by it. i'm a vampire buff, and usually disappointed by alot of stories out there, but i just loved this one, so go and read and marvel and yeah. now! - Jade Devlin Mar 30th, 2003 |
I happened upon this story last night, started reading it and was instantly drawn in. Finished the rest of it this morning along with a cup of coffee. What a delightful way to spend a Sunday morning. Thank you C.E. Gray for such a wonderful piece of work. Keep up the great job! - Ambrosia Mar 30th, 2003 |
All you really need to know is Vivian Darkbloom has an uncanny ability to capture her readers and make them laugh, cry and philosophise about life all within the space of five minutes.... every story is a must read, and she remains as always my favourite online bard.... - Jade Devlin Mar 30th, 2003 |
This story is both potent and peaceful, and the characters, though presented in a short, short story, are fully realized. It made me ache for the classic X&G. That's about as high as a compliment as I give these days. - Roo Mar 28th, 2003 |
I've just finished your stories on the Athenaeum site and enjoyable is a huge understatement! So is saying that I anxiously await the next installment.(BTW thanks for dating your work) - Ted Mar 27th, 2003 |
WOW! uhm WOW! I loved this story! The characters were incredible! I stayed up all night reading this,I couldn't stop until the end and I wanted more!C.E.Gray has done an excellent job and I highly recomend this story. I just hope we get to read more about Sam and Kayla real soon (hint, hint)! - jbamazon Mar 26th, 2003 |
I really enjoyed this sweet tale of romance. I think I would watch hockey if there was a player like Roxie(G) - Jonna Mar 25th, 2003 |
A great read. This is an Uber Mel and Janice kind of story, Uber G is rough and tough and Uber X is brainy and from a better background. Lots of interesting characters help the story along too. - sapphie Mar 25th, 2003 |
Deliciously drawn out with an unusual written style; the minimalist POV took some getting used to - but I appreciate the distinctiveness. Great story, 3 kleenex sheets worth :) E - E Mar 24th, 2003 |
A wonderful tale! It kept me reading half the night! (and most of the morning.. now it's over.. sniff..whimper..) Excellant development of most interesting and lovable characters! I'd like to travel with them again sometime. Great attention to detail! I wanted it to be one of those stories that just keep going. I know, it was fairly long as stories go, but, I was hoping for the novella. Ok, the kingsized, mondo e mondo, extracurricular, energizer bunny, expanded version of the novella. Hint! Hint! Yes, please write the sequel.. Pssst... What happened to the... Oh, I guess that would be a spoiler, can't write that.(heh) I look forward to seeing more of your work soon! May your muse always smile upon you! Thanx, for the journey, M - Mary A Mar 22nd, 2003 |
I love this story!!! Kandis tackles many different subjects all revolving around one simple theme...the power of love in all it's forms. If you are in the mood for just about anything, read this story...it has it all! HOO YA! - Kel Mar 21st, 2003 |
I loved what has been written so far. Cannot wait for more!! The characters are believeable and loveable. I recommend this story for everyone to read. You will love it as much as I do. - T. Stratton Mar 21st, 2003 |
I'm definitely recommending this one! Great great storyline. I just finished reading it and it was very well written also. Don't forget to feed the bard! - Katia N. Ruiz Mar 20th, 2003 |
Not too long not too short with a generous dose of angst. I enjoyed reading this piece - mature protagonists facing an emotional crossroads (I can empathise!) in a segment of complicated courtship. Its an easy read, not demanding but with a little more meat than the average quick fic. Fans of La Tucker, KG McGregor and Ali Vali might like this as a warm-up :) - E. Mar 20th, 2003 |
This was a great story. I'm waiting for the rest, hopefully not in vain. - Alex Mar 18th, 2003 |
When lesbian prostitutes turn up dead on deserted beaches in Wilmington, North Carolina, Detective Johnetta Green vows to find the killer. Things take a turn for the worse as the killer strikes close to home. Will Johnnie be able to perform her duty and protect the woman she loves? |
I really love this story alot. It showed the clones the way I wanted them to be. It was cool to see Clone Xena actually just like Xena would act. Well done. - Rox Mar 17th, 2003 |
Wow! I love this story! Please, please, please write a sequel. It WOULD be a crime not to. The characters are so true to xena and gabrielle. This is an amazing novel. Pleeeeaaaaaaaassssssseeeeee write a sequel. - Feagin Mar 16th, 2003 |
IMHO I believe this is one of her best. - Amanda Mar 16th, 2003 |
This is a great story! I love it! It's on my bookshelf. It has some fantastically funny lines...The characters are very true. I think this book has the most pop culture references of any book I have ever read, though...haha - Feagin Mar 15th, 2003 |
Wow! I love this story! I laughed, I cried...It's wonderful! It could use some editing...But the story is wonderful!!! Now I know why there are so many great comments about this writer. - Feagin Mar 15th, 2003 |
good story! the characters were so real! good job. - Anonymous Mar 14th, 2003 |
great story so far! - Anonymous Mar 12th, 2003 |
THIS STORY IS MONEYYYYYY!!!!! - Anonymous Mar 11th, 2003 |
I started this story just because I wanted a sweet love story. It is but I was caught up in the twists and surprises too. I loved the charachters and felt very much a part of the action. I was really charmed by this tale. - Yvette Mar 11th, 2003 |
Wow!..Just what I needed..a good laugh! I've missed reading Larisa's stories they are so great..Just wanna wish her a speedy recovery. We miss ya girl! - jbamazon Mar 10th, 2003 |
This was a wonderful story. LOVED the plot. - Jen Mar 10th, 2003 |
Wow!!! There are sequels and then there are SEQUELS!!! And "Love has no Pride" is a SEQUEL and then some!!! Kat and Beth are back, facing huge challenges that threaten to tear them apart forever!!! Can they reach down, deep inside and pull put the strength, courage and fortitude it will take to put their lives and their dreams back together again? Sometimes, even the most cherished of loves is simply not enough...will it be for Kat and Beth? You'll have to read S. Lee's sequel to find out...and, I promise, it will be well worth your time!!! Fabulous...simply fabulous!!! - Michelle Mar 9th, 2003 |
I've been recommending S. Lee's Kat and Beth series to friends right and left, because it's so very, very good, and that made me want to re-read them myself!!! "Three Days" is an incredible trubute to romantic love...to commitment and building a life and family together...and to following your dreams...individually and as a couple. Kat and Beth sit poised, together, on the cusp of having everything they have ever wanted...and, it is a breathtaking sight!!! Read this series or you'll miss one of the most romantic, moving, tender, euphoric, triumphant love stories ever written!!! - Michelle Mar 9th, 2003 |
I just read this the other night. After reading Love in Photographs..I just had to read this one. It left you wanting more hanging on the edge of a cliff wanting to hear more about Georgia and Blake. After Blake is hurt and Torrance takes her picture...that really touched me. Great job to the author on another awesome tale. I hope to read more soon :) - Caden Mar 9th, 2003 |
Larisa has outdone herself once again!!! And, our webmistresses were right on about the spew warning!!! Every other line holds at least a giggle and most hold outright guffaws!!! Imagine Jack and Oink and the rest of Larisa's wrecking crew loose on a starship...holodecks and all...Woo-hoo!!! We're having some fun now!!! Thanks, Larisa...I needed that tonight!!! - Michelle Mar 8th, 2003 |
Currently unfinished, this offering is a fantastic dramatical read. It's slow moving and fairly detailed in the early parts. What I love is the simmering attraction between the leading ladies, the phrase "slow burn" is an apt description! Great supporting roles by the other characters too. I'm glad I started reading this, Jules Matthews is a bard to keep an eye on. - E Mar 8th, 2003 |
Yeah, I'd really apreciate a sequel to this fine story- I hope the author doesnt let us hanging here for much time. - reverse_ip Mar 8th, 2003 |
[This Comment contains spoilers.] "Merker's Outpost" is a sexy, action filled, sci-fi fantasy, with a complex plotline and interesting characters. (I really worried about them at times and wonder where they'll end up, even some of the more minor players, and this involvement is a very good thing). The settings are easy to visualize, a testimony to the author's vision of the outpost and other alien environs. J A Bard has created an expansive universe of societies, populated by an interesting variety of aliens. Constructionwise, with the background and interlocking character development segments, I was reminded of the "Dune" series by Frank Herbert. "Merker's Outpost" is a very good read, well worth the time, but I'll be looking for its continuation in "Arnica", since I felt that the ending left me hanging. (J A, unlike many readers, I wouldn't have a problem with a single 600-700+ page story, |
What a wonderful sequel, I love watching Veba grow and Rickie is wonderful and warm. Its a very special love story. - Gracie Mar 7th, 2003 |
This is a heart wrenching tale. Keeps you captivated the whole way through. Great job by the author and I do hope there is more to this saga. Makes you laugh and makes you cry. I'd read it over and over again. Thanks for endulging our sweet tooth for good fiction. - Caden Mar 7th, 2003 |
I'm looking forward to when this comes out in print, I enjoyed it and it captured my imagination. One of the best pieces of sci-fi I've read in a while. - Andy Mar 7th, 2003 |
This story was wonderful. A splendid combination of loving warmth and incandescant heat. I look forward to more (a story, it can be a small one, about Angel and Ellie, the younger(s), would be great.) Thanks for the wonderful bit of prose. - Nyc Mar 7th, 2003 |
Once again, Anne has come through with another quality story. The plot is fun and the characters are engaging (and it's so nice to see the return of our favorites!). While reading it, I felt as though I was visiting with old friends. The whole "Seasons Series" is a treat and this was a great way to end it! - indigal Mar 7th, 2003 |
Ms. Tryst seems to get better with every story. This is a pretty good read with a chance to see Torrance (drool) from "Love in Photographs" again. The strip club scene's "climatic" end makes this story worth the price of admittance. - Kaye Mar 6th, 2003 |
I recently read this story when a friend suggested that I read it. It was amazing. Besides for a few minor grammatical errors that a beta could have edited out it was perfect. The chracters are just so honest and real. It was really refreshing to read about something so honest even though it is painful. Sometimes I need a bit of reality in my fiction and Verity satisfied that need very well. I hope to hear more from this writer. - Alicia Mar 6th, 2003 |
This is going to be a story I will read many times...Make sure you read it at least once. - SammyLee Mar 5th, 2003 |
"Love in Photographs" was my favorite story from this author, but now I have a new one! I absolutely adored the way the new characters were blended with the ones from "Love in Photographs". Readers get a chance to see new relationships develop while enjoying some old favorites! A must read for any fan of Alex Tryst! She's right though in her disclaimer in my opinion. Would be best enjoyed after reading "Love in Photographs" first. - Anonymous Mar 5th, 2003 |
Great story! I loved every bit! The characters were so well done! I can't wait to read the follow up piece! - Anonymous Mar 5th, 2003 |
What a beautiful but different love story. I found myself falling under Hilda's spell. Very compelling story series. - jeri Mar 5th, 2003 |
Oh Gods! This bard knows how to pull the heart strings. I could handle this as the ending of Xena. Emotional good story-Kleenex is a must. - Jenny Mar 4th, 2003 |
Words can't do justice on how great this story was. One hell of a tale here. Lara 3-5-03 - Lar Mar 4th, 2003 |
This is the third story I read by this person, all are very good. This one is a short tale full of emotion and I can believe Xena and Gabrielle having this conversation. - jenny Mar 4th, 2003 |
Run don't walk to read this wonderful story. This story is so realistic. You will swear the authors sneaked a peek at your diary. Andi and Haley are truly wonderful ladies that you can't help but root for them. Or to know them and enjoy in their fun times and hug them during their down times. - Chris L. Mar 4th, 2003 |
WOW! this has to be one of her best works yet. It is set 10 years later. The kids are grown. Ryan is 26, Reb is 16 and Mac is 23. Who's dating and who's getting married? who is trying to get their one true love to notice them again. Don't miss this funny, poignant story. All of Anne's characters are back in this great 'family' story with a very 'un'Brady cast. - Chris Mar 4th, 2003 |
March always reminds us that spring is right around the corner. Now, more than ever, with the dark sadness of February behind us, we can turn our attention to the brightness of spring. With that, it is my pleasure to announce that the March 2003 recipient of the Charani Award of Excellence in Fiction for Ethnic or Religious Diversity goes to Ana Ortiz for HABÁNAME. Ordinarily, I would go into detail and explain my decision, however, for this particular story, I decided to let just a small sample of the emails that I have personally receive speak for me.....

I owe this author an apology for when I first saw the word "revision" and the amount (55) of additional pages, I knew she'd ruined a perfectly good story. My bad. Ms. Ruiz, you have turned a good story into a great one. - Kaye Mar 4th, 2003 |
OH what can we say abut this noting have had me shiming in my bootis like this one. Wonderful Uber. One of WolfDragonŽs finest storys ever. - Keegan Connor Mar 3rd, 2003 |
Do not stop here, do not walk ....> run to the sequel. - Paula Mar 2nd, 2003 |
Very well written, easy to follow, the flow was exceptional. Held my interest all the way through. Couldn't put either one down. It was a pleasure to read both the prequel and the sequel. Hope there will be more of the same from this wonderful author. - Paula Mar 2nd, 2003 |
A story I have on my book shelf after going out and buying it so that I can read it again at any time, any where. Romance, Espionage, Uncertainties and Passion rolled into two women finding love for and with each other. A wonderful story to read and one I highly recommend. - Anonymous Mar 2nd, 2003 |
I was so surprised by "Iron Rose Bleeding". There is a healthy dose of the very real problems our planet faces, handed in a very intellegent and wise manner, there is theory, there is Ralienism, there is love and danger...and it all comes together in a most satisfying way that will keep you hooked. I couldn't put this one down! - Taleweaver Mar 2nd, 2003 |
MY GOD!.... this has to be the funniest, most riveting uber story I've read in a while! Luka and Memphis were superbly fleshed out, and Sprout... oh my.... I am just not gonna comment! AMAZING!!!!!! - Katelin B Mar 2nd, 2003 |
I too have read this story 2 times. The second time took me longer, there was more to look at, look for. It is a riveting romantic drama, chock full of dirty politics in the race to win, and behind the scene's of running a campaign. Ms. O'Connor's loyalty and honor to country, the citizens of the State of Texas, and family only endear her to the voter's, until her past is brought to light unfavorably. This story proves that the means don't justify the end. It is a fast read in that you won't be able to put it down. It'll keep you glued to the page. And it screams: sequel. When I see a candidate that embodies all of Jordon O'Connor's traits - I'll become a resident of that state and vote. - Maria Mar 1st, 2003 |
Can it get better then this? It is rar to find a story this good and have the high qualety that it dows from start to finish.I have thretend and demaded that the atur of this story provid me with a glas of water and some new hankis for thos that she made me lose. - SammyLee Mar 1st, 2003 |

Wow. This is such a nice story. One problem...it was to short! Will there be a sequel to this story? Really want to see more of these characters. Great work!! - Anonymous Mar 1st, 2003 |
WHAT A TRIPP:::..I wanŽt a mini ME 2... and some action like thos hott cracy galls in this story. It will give you a good laght and food for thught to read this story. ENJOY - SammyLee Mar 1st, 2003 |

Beautiful story, I also cried my way through it. Sadly, when I searched for some more of this ladys works, I discovered a memorial website for her. Sadly for all of us, she has passed away from cancer. More tears. - Stephanie Feb 27th, 2003 |
THIS SERIES IS A MUST READ! I HOPE YOU INTEND TO KEEP THESE CHARACTERS GOING WITH NEW ADVENTURES! THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO LEARN ABOUT THEM! - CHARLIE AND TERRI FAN Feb 26th, 2003 |
Oh, I can't lay laurels upon the head of a bard for a wonderful sequel without mentioning this story, Home Fires. The characters of Melinda Pappas and Dr. Janice Covington, just barely 2 dimensional sketches in a 44 minute episode have here been fleshed out, given breath and blood, passion, angst, lust...lots of lust. But it's all been so tastefully handled. And believably. That's the real surprise. These two mature women have real issues and though they clearly have strong feelings for one another at the outset, there is a lot of water gone under their respective bridges...and neither one seems inclined to do more than wade for the first 8 chapters. THAT, in my opinion, is real. The writer has taken tremendous care to deliver well thought out, believable dialogue. Mel has left Janice in the lurch, holding a terse "Dear John" letter. Six months later, the redoubtable Dr. Covington confronts the author of her misery, and there is no quick fix. They don't kiss and fall into bed at the end of Chapter One. And there's wit. Mustn't forget the wit. Melinda and Janice as written and realized in this story, by this bard, are smart AND funny...a double threat. I found myself aching for the climax, pardon the pun, in Chapter 10, but also very grateful to the writer, in retrospect, that she took her sweet time getting there with 9 chapters of incredible verbal foreplay. - Buchwhacker Feb 26th, 2003 |
I've been sitting here, reading over previous comments about Slow Burn and can add my voice to those who call it "rich", "passionate", "witty", "literate". I haven't a clue what the hell "Bocce Balls Batman!" means, but it comes off sounding like a compliment. I read the first chapters of this story and after first registering my disappointment that more chapters are not yet available, I have to say I am enjoying the writer's meandering path to the heart of the story. That's a little misleading. I think the story has many hearts, many paths, and each one is delicately written, intricately explored. Chapters 1 through 7 are just the beginning of what is shaping up to be a first class read. - Bushwhacker Feb 26th, 2003 |
I thought this was a wonderful series. I read all four and thought each story got better the more deeply we got into these charachters. I just love Dakota and Jackie and I hope that Ri writes more of this sweet and loving couple. - Nat Feb 26th, 2003 |
Ho sais Xena dosnŽt have it all..soner or later she will. This story is a Clasic in itŽs ohn right. I enjoyed it..and lets face it Lucy Lawlles was cute as a man to. - SammyLee Feb 25th, 2003 |
Whoa! What a powerful story here, this gave me a big lump in my throat, gulp. The characters were done very well and 'wow'. 'Wow' is all I can say. - Jenny Feb 24th, 2003 |
What a great story! I want a Charlie in my airport! This was HOT HOT HOT and I look forward to the sequel you just posted. Read the disclaimers here and do not read this at work! Ready for Take Off has definitely changed my opinion on flying. - Anonymous Feb 24th, 2003 |
What can one say...? It was and is a great story. When will the sequel be posted? I am eagerly waiting for next part - SammyLee Feb 23rd, 2003 |
This is one of the funniest things i have seen in a long time!!! Well worth a look!! (Lila must have a thing for jelly!?!?!) - Willow Feb 23rd, 2003 |
I really liked this story it was a beautiful love story. I'd really like to see more of this special couple. I really enjoyed the tour of LA too. - Annie Feb 21st, 2003 |
very funny. you did well portraying the characters. - Anonymous Feb 21st, 2003 |
awesome. one of the best i've ever read. all three were awesome. it sounded like a real story they'd put on the show. if only we could have had the privilege to see it on tv. good job again. - Anonymous Feb 21st, 2003 |
this was really good. good job. if they had written stories like that on the real show, it might not have been cancelled. thanks for giving me a story worth reading. - Anonymous Feb 21st, 2003 |
(Thanks bardeyes for the how to) A MUST READ by S. LEE. THAT FRIEND OF MINE is great. Very womantic. Funny. Heart warming. And Kats dating ideas should be part of a manual; cant miss type of thing (not to mention yummy). Kat, Beth, and family are very real. Spew alert in a certain conversation between Kat and Beth, and then with both daughters. Hysterical, cute, adorable. I love these characters. From the beginning in THREE DAYS, the vision of Kat in black, long black leather coat, black Stetson and all those special songs, made me want LOVE HAS NO PRIDE instantly. So, to fully get the feel for the wonderful ending of this amazing ride of a series, you must read the journey that got them here. Gut wrenching. The progression tears at you until the 3rd and final installment. Youll smile in the end though. Believe me. - Maria Feb 21st, 2003 |
For those readers interested in a classic Xena and Gabrielle story, I would highly recommend IseQween's, "When Xena Was Callisto". This story feels true to the canon and true to the characters. The setting and action are so authentic that this is the episode TPTB should have aired between Intimate Stranger and Ten Little Warlords, and if they didn't have room in season two, then I'd have dropped FHTBT in its favor. There are a lot of subtleties in this story for diehard X&G fans...insights into the characters' emotional states, reprisals of past situations, and the treat of reading an episode we never got to see. Take the time to read this story if you love Xena and Gabrielle and the depth of love these characters shared for each other. There is no doubt that the author knows and loves these characters, and has the talent to tell their story. This is a fine example of what real fanfiction is. - Phantom Bard Feb 20th, 2003 |
In the final install of the Kat and Beth series, your heart will melt from the romance that is found here. S. Lee has, once again, outdone herself telling the tale of Kat and Beth's trials, their love, their family and the belief in their future. The growth and depth of these characters make it impossible for you NOT to get completely sucked into their story. S. Lee's writing is wonderful! The love scenes will melt your soul, the song lyrics are well placed and the dialogue is meaningful and very entertaining. This series should not be missed! By anyone. High praise should go to S. Lee - Excellent work! - Di Bauden Feb 20th, 2003 |
ANOTHER MUST READ BY S. LEE...... If you are looking for action and danger, go rent a Bond movie but if its romance that you desire, this is the story for you. You will be caught up in the imagery of the love and passion shared by these two women. You will gaze upon your mate and realize she inspires the same devotion that these two share. This installment should be viewed upon as a HOW TO in the romance department. And if reading this does not inspire your mate, a 2X4 upside the head, may be the only other alternative. It's worth missing sleep for. For those lacking the imagination....TAKE NOTES...you can only benefit from the knowledge.... ;) - Topaz Feb 20th, 2003 |
READ THIS STORY!!! If you don't, you will miss one of the most romantic, warm, funny, inspiring and rewarding tales ever written!!! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll shout for joy, and most of all, you will find yourself celebrating all the best things in life!!! S. Lee has, quite simply, outdone herself!!! Bravo!!! - Michelle Feb 19th, 2003 |
JMs portrayal of the emotional growth that allows people to create intimacy in full view of their failings and vulnerabilities is superb. She has such a knack with her cannily drawn characters.... angst overflowing ..sexually charged... and emotionally wrenching they are definitely human, but filled with empathy with a decided weave. As I havent read any of her writings this past year, I can definitely say this story shows a huge expansion and great development of her writing skills some of the best writing she's done and a whole new side to her considerable talent. This is one of the most satisfying, heart tugging chronicle I've read in quite a while, and Id give it a solid gold five stars any day of the week. - B.S. Raven Feb 19th, 2003 |
Here's a challenge for you, and no, it isn't another counter on a story! On the Dragonjul's site, they are going to 'steal' a brilliant idea other larger sites have incorporated for those wishing to share their talent. They heard a wonderful song the other day by the Dixie Chicks called 'Home' and thought to themselves, "what a marvellous idea for a story."
Guess what...that's the challenge! Who can write a story, incorporating the idea of the song however loosely? As with all challenges, there is nothing monetary to be gained. However, we have a prize for the story deemed to capture the essence of the song lyrics. Every story will be posted on Dragonjuls' website unless you tell us otherwise.
To read the song's lyrics go to: http://www.twin-music.com/lyrics_file/chicks/home/home.html For those who want to take up the challenge please go to http://www.jmdragon.net/require.html for the guidelines.
Still one of my favorites. Lust, love, passion all wrapped up in a deliciously funny package. Rock on! - Kel Feb 17th, 2003 |
This is a wonderful story, both poignant and truimphant. This writers characters are always a pleasure to read about. - Anonymous Feb 16th, 2003 |
This one is different, really, and fiction mixed in a new way. Modern yet classical like the Ivan Ho story. Theatrical RP game with close-to-real-person characters drives this HONOR bound story forward and onto success, cornered with loving devotion. - SammyLee Feb 16th, 2003 |
This story captured me from the first line and held me until the very end. A sweet first time story of a young Xena and a "woman of the world". Descriptions abound capturing you in a tale of innocence lost and horizons broadened. EXCELLENT !! - Eternal Warrior Feb 15th, 2003 |
This story is amazing, i read it and thought WOW - the author created a really unique and fantastic story, couldnt praise it more!!! ...unfortunaly i thought the sequels spoiled it (didnt do the this one justice), but thats just my personal opinion. Go read!! - g Feb 15th, 2003 |
very beautiful, unique story, loved it very much - A MUST READ!!!!!! - g Feb 15th, 2003 |
A perfect gift for today. A love story that is so romantic that it made me wish I had someone to share my life with. - Tammy Feb 14th, 2003 |
This is an interesting look from an outsider on how Xena works as a doctor and her relationship with Gabrielle. I really enjoyed it. Of course I am already a MASH fan. - Anonymous Feb 14th, 2003 |
This story reminds me so muths of the LADY DIANA story..Can one find love after it is to late? What is the price of a crown? - Nemo Feb 13th, 2003 |
All I can say is! "Awesome!" - GabBard Feb 13th, 2003 |
Cute sexy story... but i think theres room for a much needed sequel!!!!! - g Feb 13th, 2003 |
Interesting change of direction for this writer and a very plausible story, I'd recommend it. - Anonymous Feb 13th, 2003 |
This is one of the best stories I've read. It held me captive from beginning to end. I would highly recommend this story and hope this author continues to write. Good, good stuff. - Lynn Feb 12th, 2003 |
Yes, it's me bopping by the 25 again. It's hard to describe this story. The only word that comes to my mind is. Witty. This was a witty, cleverly fun piece to read. - Jenny Feb 12th, 2003 |
Was looking at the top 25 and this caught my eye too. The story had me from start to end on one powerful ride. Even though it was in a different verse, it still felt like Gabrielle and Xena and was interesting to see roles reversed and how they both handled it. Great story and will read again and again. This is one to save to your harddrive. - Jenny Feb 12th, 2003 |
I was going threw the top 25 and this title caught my eye. Must say this left me choked up and wish TPTB wrote the ending like this. OR something close to it. Very emotional, well written piece. Sad thing the writers e-mail no longer works. - Jenny Feb 12th, 2003 |

This is a great beginning for a series by a first time Xena author. Mikael manages to tackle post-FIN without going into the realm of cliche. His characterization of Gabrielle is spot on and his plotline show promise for the future. One thing to notice is that this is just a part of a greater whole in an ongoing series and that Mikael has the entire massive thing plotted out in advance. He is also a very open and contact friendly author that not only answers emails promptly but also with great care and interest in his readers opinions. This guy is one to look out for in the near future. - JJ Feb 10th, 2003 |
Mikael's Darkness and Light series continues with a near perfect story on Gabrielle's return to her hometown after the events of 'First Steps'. He manages to write a nearly perfect description the relationship between the estranged Lila and the sorrowful Gabrielle. There is also some killer fight scenes as usual of Mikael's stories and a great deal of really impressive dialog. This is a vast improvement over 'First Steps' and it wasn't half bad. Mikael proves he is a great up and coming author probably one of the most perseverant and creative post-FIN writers yet! - JJ Feb 10th, 2003 |
Mikael continues his series with the slower more contemplative Exodus that deals with Gabrielle's relationships with the Amazons and also how they have begun to see the Battling Bard. Mikael finally deals with the issues of what happened to the Amazons in Greece in his usual subtle ways and even manages to make everyone from Ares, Xena and of course his favorite character Gabrielle look smart and intelligent. Mikael writes intelligent characters and has his interactions between characters happen even as there is an ongoing adventure around them. Still Exodus is not as good as Heritage being a bit slower but wait for the big finale that had me needing to go outside to went after getting really worked up. - JJ Feb 10th, 2003 |
[Fan Fiction Editors Note: This comment contains spoilers.] This was actually the first story of Mikael that I stumbled upon and of course as it is the latest part of his planned 6 part series Darkness and Light the last one I read. And wow damn! Continuing in the voice he found in the last story but mastering it with added action Mikael tells another amazing story about Gabrielle's destiny after leaving the amazon, traveling through Japan and ending up in a cloister in Chin. For there the massive story just grows as a subtle but present set of characters rally around Gabrielle as she grows way beyond anything allowed of her character in most fanfiction and all of the TV series. This is so far the crowning achievement of Mikael's series and beyond a doubt the most memorable piece of Post-FIN I've read in a long time. The ending will have you begging for more, which Mikael has promised is forthcoming. - JJ Feb 10th, 2003 |
A gripping story, this one kept me hooked to the very end. Fast paced, plenty of action and never a dull moment. Can I be your beta reader? Need some more of the sequel now too! |
The story is about a butch construction worker, Sheridan Landers, whose favorite past time is to go to the club and get busy with the gal of her choice. Being that she's blonde, cocky as hell with a body to die for, that task is a very easy one indeed. Enter Keefer Gibson, a very unhappy woman in a miserable relationship. She's six feet of tall, dark and gorgeous, but sadly her girlfriend has taken all self worth away. Sparks fly when the two meet, being that Keefer is a site inspector. Their journey is one that will require patience, love and understanding. Just the kind of relationship Sheridan knows nothing of. With the help of their friends, the two women find what had been missing their entire lives. This is an excellent piece of writing and shouldn't be missed! - Di Bauden Feb 9th, 2003 |
Its a good story, but there is one slight problem I'm having with it from the first part. The whole they looked into each other's eyes and knew their destiny, and the whole she "knew once she kissed them nothing else in the world would matter." I like it so far, but the women just met. Anyway, i will keep reading it. See how it goes. :) - Anonymous Feb 9th, 2003 |
Best kick a** Conqueror! - KT Feb 8th, 2003 |
If you are looking for a captivating and good LONG story with love hurt and some great moments betwen 2 ladys this story is the way to gow...YOU will not regret it..I didnŽt - SammyLee Feb 6th, 2003 |
One of those stories that tell the tale simply but you want more, thankfully there will be more. Great start! - Anonymous Feb 4th, 2003 |
This is a very talented author. If you want fluff, go somewhere else. The characters have a depth and complexity that is truly compelling, and the stories draw you in and don't let go till the end. It was impossible not to read them straight through! - Anonymous Feb 4th, 2003 |
[Fan Fiction Editors Note: This comment contains spoilers.] This short story is a well crafted, intriguing and suspense filled yarn. The writer has added a hearty splash of plain old everlasting love, for an idea of that endless love is possible. This first mystery thriller by new writer B. S. Raven has developed the plot and a group of pleasant characters ranging from the lively, but somewhat naive young writer, to the powerful and mysterious uninvited guest stalking about just enough, to keep you turning the pages. The devoted and lovable housekeeper and all the characters are people you feel you believe and wish were in your life. This story takes us all to that secret fantasy and possibility of love ever after enters into all our lives. This yarn is a definite keeper for me, and I have read it several times now. I highly recommend you give it a try. I promise you wont be disappointed. - Kudos Feb 4th, 2003 |
I like this take on FIN it is really different and captures the spirit of the whole series - Riki Feb 4th, 2003 |
It took me a few days to complete this story. I must say it's original in several ways. It had me going 'oh my' in many areas. For instance, when the battle was over and you expect the cliche-ish 'battle lust' it was refreshing to see Gabrielle reading poetry and looking into the night air. This was addictive to read. One thing that was lacking I felt was the ending. That was not in sync with the rest of the tale, but I still recommend this story very much. Calli's cover was outstanding. C.B. - Carrie Feb 4th, 2003 |
The sense of humour of these bards is very interesting. LOL! >:) It's fun read. - Teri Feb 3rd, 2003 |
My disliking for Conqueror's was great. Same ole same ole. Until a friend said I should read this one. Totally different in many ways. Even though Gabrielle was the Conqueror it still felt like the bard and it was nice to see Xena more human. Very good and I highly recommend this story. - Kathy Feb 3rd, 2003 |
This is a beautiful story. I didn't care for FIN'S too much and it would have been nice if the powers wrote something like this. Just beautiful and moving. - Di Feb 3rd, 2003 |
Really a sweet story. How nice for all of us to find such a love. - A friend from TX Feb 2nd, 2003 |
This is one of the absolute best of the Conqueror stories that I've read. The freshness comes from Gabrielle being the conqueror in charge. Watching her do everything that Xena did in her conquering days, but doing them better, well, that just proves once again that thinking before acting, gets you more :) Seeing all of the familiar faces of the Xenaverse pop up, brought a wave of nostalgia through me while reading this tale. I highly recommend this story! - Di Bauden Feb 1st, 2003 |
It was soooo great to read about Rickie and Veba. I am just so drawn to Veba, its a great sequel I hope Ri writes more. - Niki Jan 31st, 2003 |
This was one wild read. Have Gabrielle being the Conqueror and Xena trying to find a way to bring her back? Wow. It's nice to have many familiar faces in this story too. Read it and couldn't stop until now 1am. Should put spoiler saying you'll not stop reading until finished. - jeni Jan 31st, 2003 |
I love this series. It is SOOOOOOO witty and entertaining, without compromising depth or plot. It's got it all romance, tragedy, humor, etc. I give this series the highest recommendation. - Anonymous Jan 30th, 2003 |
I really enjoyed the twist in this Conqueror story..Having Gabrielle be the conqueror and having Xena trying to get through to her was fabulous,It makes me wish that TPTB had come up with this idea for an episode..it would have rocked! Keep up the good work Bards.. ;) - jbamazon Jan 29th, 2003 |
A kinda violent story for sure but it had a cute ending. - ladyjulianna Jan 29th, 2003 |
This was a very moving story. Not the kind of touching lovey stuff i normally read but it was well done. - ladyjulianna Jan 29th, 2003 |
I really loved this tale. Rather bittersweet, yet funny and comes with a perfect ending. I love Ali Vali's writing and this is one of her best. - Beth Jan 29th, 2003 |
Bocce Balls, Batman! I went in search of this story on the recommendation of a friend. Seven chapters into it I am salivating for more of this rich, passionate and literate work. If you haven't read what there is of this story, you are missing something my friends! - HeavyB Jan 28th, 2003 |
I loved this story. I just love the budding freindship and then romance between Toni and Melly. A beautiful love story. - Ann Jan 28th, 2003 |
This story was a wicked hoot. diane - Diane Jan 28th, 2003 |
The is a wickly killer story! Had me from beginning to end! Diane - diane Jan 27th, 2003 |
I've read nearly every Conqueror out there and this one is 'the' best. It's not like all the rest which was refreshing to read. Thanks to the bards who wrote it. - Anonymous Jan 27th, 2003 |
Everything this person writes is outstanding! - Anonymous Jan 27th, 2003 |
I thought this story was freakin' hysterical. I'm such an uber addict and Larisa is quickly becoming a favorite. I'm waiting for more. - Twister Jan 27th, 2003 |
This was really weird and strange but I liked it. - Niki Jan 27th, 2003 |
This is not only a great story, it is so beautifully constructed that I hated to get to the end of it. Ms. MacGregor captures so many emotions so intricately that I can't put the story away until I'm done with it, so my advice would be to start reading early or you'll find yourself staying up way past your bedtime to finish the story. I recommend all of this very talented bards' work, and this story just proves to me that this lady is very gifted with the written word. I hope for more to come from this author, because she has so much to offer and what a coup for us that she posts it in venues where we reap the benefits. Thank you again KG MacGregor for a wonderful ride. - Maria Jan 27th, 2003 |
The best uber yett,as simpel as that. - SammyLee Austen Jan 26th, 2003 |
We may be only up to part two, but Colleen already has a winner here! The prequels, "At First Sight" and "Seeing You Again For the First Time" were two of the most romantic, moving, heart-stirring tales I've ever read, and "Blindsided" is following in tow. Jamie and Erin make a beautiful couple and Colleen makes beautiful music with them, leading all of us in a soul-moving heart-dance! Bravo, Colleen! - Michelle Jan 25th, 2003 |
I loved reading this follow up. It was a sweet tale and I really liked how it was concluded. - Anonymous Jan 25th, 2003 |
Oh Lord you two shouldn't be in the same room. LOL! Cool story! :) ex-circler - AmyMurphy Jan 25th, 2003 |

[This comment contains spoilers.] Katia, I could not stop reading your incredibly well told story until i was done...your character development...your insights into the torment and pain of our hero was wonderful...i hope you don't end it here...I WANT A WEDDING..MAYBE THEY CAN HAVE ANOTHER CHILD...LOL... You are an extremely talented writer, and i look forward to looking at more of your work. Cat stolenhalogirl@aol.com - Cathy Jan 24th, 2003 |
This is an incredible tale of self-discovery, will power, adventure and awakenings. KG takes you on a hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro and gives you insight into the will that it takes to make it to the top. The main characters, Mary Kate and Kristin are just awesome. They'll make you smile with their charms and make you grit your teeth in empathy as they go on their journey through the clouds. I highly recommend this story! - Di Bauden Jan 24th, 2003 |
Ditto! You need asbestos gloves to handle Chap. 6! The bard is a relatively new find for me and whatta treasure. More, bard! More! - M&JFan4ever Jan 24th, 2003 |
This story was cute and funny. I loved it the first time i read it while ago and enjoyed it all over again. Xena and Gabrielle's relationship is portayed in a very sweet way. Nice read. - ladyjulianna Jan 24th, 2003 |
This bard, in my opinion, is on a par with the Great Vivian Darkbloom, and that is saying something. The first seven chapters of this story ring with originality and wit, and Chapter 6? well, Chapter 6 smokes! My one negative comment might be the lack of a recent update. - SuzieQ Jan 23rd, 2003 |
This talented writer has delighted us with a great story. The characters will show you how pain can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. I loved reading it and I hope you will as well. - Heidi Jan 22nd, 2003 |
This tale has so many surprizes packed inside, that reading it is like digging under the tree on Christmas morning! It's chocked full of Larisa's own unique brand of side-splitting humor, charming characters, and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat! Thanks, once again, Larisa, I needed that! - Michelle Jan 22nd, 2003 |
This was a bittersweet story for me as I lost a relative a few days before reading it in its completion. Kelly and Susan have a love that most people only dream about....DSBauden's words brought many tears to my eyes and through this story her words have left a permanent smile in my heart. I HIGHLY recommend this story to anyone who has longed for that one "Great Love" a love that knows no bounds and one that cannot be denied. Great job Di....keep the stories coming girl! - Playgirl Jan 20th, 2003 |
Wowwwwwww!!!! One the best writer of xenaverse!!Your better story, Finding My Way, by Mavis Applewater, is funny, romantic, HOT!!! Is about two Teacher, one opening gay and other in the closet, commitmented with a fiancèe dumb. I laughed with the situations between Stephanie and Allison.Read and have fun! - Leth Jan 20th, 2003 |
Absolutley fantatic. I have not read anything that interested me this much in a long time. I sat at my computer and read every bit. Sometimes tears made it hard to read. Please write some more along this line this is absolutley the most fantastic subject around now.Thank you so much for writing this. - Donna - Jan 20th, 2003 |
Big fan of this writer. Very insightful & keeps you in the story. - Annie Jan 20th, 2003 |
I really loved this story it was so romantic. I enjoy stories set in the future and this was set up really well. I could see that period as I read the story. - Margaret Jan 20th, 2003 |
This is a wonderful story. It boths tugs at your heart, and fills you with hope. A perfect little retreat from reality. - Anonymous Jan 20th, 2003 |
Home fires is one of the best M&J stories I've ever read (and I've read them all). Roo's M&J are so mature, so real, have such depth, you feel as if you could just reach out and touch them. Roo's writing is exciting, sexy, witty, moving and fun. I couldn't stop reading and immediately started reading the (as of yet unfinished) sequel Slow Burn. Highly recommended, a must, DO NOT MISS! - Anonymous Jan 20th, 2003 |
This series great. KM has phenomenal wit and humor woven into a story that deals with serious issues. The writing is intelligent and romantic. I would love to see this story finished and continued. PLEASE write more KM:) - Anonymous Jan 20th, 2003 |
i liked this story alot the author goes in to great detail when explaining Xena's and Gabrielle's relationship and what each of them is thinking and feeling. Loved the plot. great story! - ladyjulianna Jan 19th, 2003 |
You know you're in Larisa's world when someone is out in a field wrestling a goat, right off the bat, when the crazies are actually sane, and the sane are all crazier than loons, when the most unlikely candidates find themselves struck with Cupid's arrows, and when brawling Amazon cousins come barreling out of the woodwork to save the day! "Rhapsody's Silver Lining" will have you perched on the edge of your seat, chewing your fingernails, all the while laughing till tears are rolling down your cheeks! All in all, a triple E-ticket ride! - Michelle Jan 17th, 2003 |
This a very funny Conqueror story. Enginerd is a writer who can combine humor and adventure with terrific results. Here the alternative Conqueror universe gets a real work out with naked Amazons, a confused lovelorn Conqueror and a very accidental Amazon queen. - Cheryl Ande Jan 17th, 2003 |
Excellant Janice and Mel story. Janice must impersonate a vicious Nazie with Mel posing as her abused mistress. It has a wonderfully touching ending. - Cheryl Ande Jan 17th, 2003 |
Wishes was one the very early fan fiction writers and one of the best . Her Janice and Mel stories are some of the best. In this one you get to met Janice's mother when she visits her in England. Soon Janice and Mel are involved in an exciting adventure. - Cheryl Ande Jan 17th, 2003 |
BRAVA! BRAVA! For Melissa's first Conqueror story this is incredible! The interaction between Xena the Queen and her slave Gabrielle are wonderful. In places it even tugs at your heart. If you've never read one of Melissa's stories shame on you..this one is a must read! - Jbamazon Jan 16th, 2003 |
this is the perfect story for relaxing with after a hard day - Anonymous Jan 16th, 2003 |
I really like this story a lot. I am a huge Agatha Christie fan and have read a lot of her novels and I think this story captures her spirit very well. - Jackie Jan 16th, 2003 |
this is really good look foward to the rest! - Anonymous Jan 16th, 2003 |
This is one of the most amazing stories I have read in a VERY long time. Regan and Mel are two very endearing characters. I can't wait to see more from this writer. Very, very talented. And an excellent first full length novel. She's got several other short stories that are HOT HOT HOT! I highly recommend them as well. But this one... it tops them all! A very sweet love story. Please! Please! Please! Let us see what happens with these two! It would a crime to not write a sequel to this great tale! - Bailey Jan 15th, 2003 |
Oh, boy!!!!!! This stoy is verrrrrrrry romantic!UNDENIABLE, By KM, is about two lawers. Jessie is Robin's boss. Both of them fallen deep in love, fight against job's rules, family, all for your love. This story is enchanting, funny, sad, highly recommend! Enjoy! - Leth Jan 15th, 2003 |
Wow! That was better than Believe. Not something that I thought was possible until I read this story. Very emotional, it had me ready to cry in places. I noticed that there are six other stories by this author and I plan to read them all! - Jen Jan 15th, 2003 |
Wonderful story, very moving. I will definitely read this again. - Jen Jan 15th, 2003 |
Let it be know that the black Knight and the Lady was and is one of the greatest Sagas I have had the fortune of reading her on the net. I would so love for there to be yet a another chapter or a sequel to this Saga, Im now only moments after reading the final words on the story, So I miss the characters as if the story tock place just beside me I miss their presence and their beautiful love for one another. Please let there be more of these stories. - Keegan Connor Jan 15th, 2003 |
This was such a wonderful story and the love is so strong it almosts pops off the page!!! - Anonymous Jan 15th, 2003 |
I love this story. It seems to go one way and then all of the sudden it goes another. I also adored the two main charachters. It gave me what I wanted a wonderful way to relax after a hard days work. Thanks Ri - Janet Jan 15th, 2003 |
I love a good vampire story, and this one was better than good. It was great! It was exciting and action packed. It had a wealth of intricate details. Just an all around fabulous way to spend a couple of hours. Go! Read! Enjoy! - darkenedkarma Jan 14th, 2003 |
http://ca.geocities.com/dayliobserver/frontpage1.html Is where you'll find the rest of the story, it's in episodes. It was really hard to track down! Why would someone hide this beautiful story away like that tsk!! - Stephanie Jan 14th, 2003 |
Excellent read. A powerful story, the emotions jump right off the page. I thought it was wonderful. - Anonymous Jan 14th, 2003 |
I swear S. Lee's tales are like Lays potato chips...nobody can read just one...or re-read just one, for that matter! It's cold in Missouri, folks, and "Summer Love" was just what I needed to warm me up! Take two four-year crushes, mix them together with a summer's chance of fulfillment, shake liberally with the choices and challenges facing all potential relationships, and you have one very hot toddy, with a decidedly warm aftertaste! Enjoy! - Michelle Jan 14th, 2003 |
Loved this story.I thought the characters were very well rounded, but I couldn't find part 8 to finish reading it.Any suggestions? - jbamazon Jan 13th, 2003 |
[Fan Fiction Editor's Note: This comment contains spoilers.] To me, "On The High Cliff" has a dreamy feel, while not sacrificing the realism or presence felt by this reader in the settings and dialog. Although I didn't find the appearance of a loving ghost contacting a living soulmate to be overly surprising, (especially being an uber Halloween tale), I enjoyed this story for the economical way it was told. Nothing felt belabored or obsessive to me, particularly the characters' emotions. I never found myself skipping over passages because I found them excessive. I remember reading the earlier posting of "On The High Cliff", at another site, back in October, and I'm glad to see it being appreciated so highly now. This is a good read; emotional, concise, and well worth the time. - Phantom Bard Jan 13th, 2003 |
This was such a fun story, I really was swept away on this tidal wave of adventure and fun. Thanks for a great read. - Kitty Jan 13th, 2003 |
"Lost" is my favorite Larisa tale! Which is saying A LOT, because it's really hard to pick a favorite Larisa tale...they're all SO GOOD! Chance's voices nickname her "Crazy One", but she's so charming and vulnerable and so much fun! We should all be that crazy! Sarah matches her stride for stride, and, believe me, after you read this tale, you'll never be able to think of Denny's without giggling out loud! - Michelle Jan 13th, 2003 |
I love this story. It is one of my very favorites. I have read it over and over. It is one of the most wonderful ubers I've ever read. Anyone who is a mushball like me would enjoy it:) - Ri Jan 13th, 2003 |
I just finished re-reading this fabulous story last night and found I enjoyed it even more the second time! It has something for everyone...romance...love...loyalty...suspense...intrigue...and, most of all the hope that politicians like Jordan O'Connor really do exist and are voicing our concerns! - Michelle Jan 12th, 2003 |
I for one am a true romantic and love to read stories that move my heart. Home Fires by Roo is exactly what I was looking for. Roo uses wonderful storytelling to bring us a version of the lives of Janice Covington and Meilinda Pappas. The story starts with Janice flying her Electra into Australia to find Melinda, who had left her a "Dear Jane" letter months ago. Trying to understand why Mel denied their love, Janice set out to find her. She now sees that there's another person in Mels life and wants to get some answers. Follow the paths of these two characters as they try to find their places again. Within each other's hearts. Can trust be given again? Here's a snippet and a great passage from this story... A different character by the name of Alice, a 13 yr. old is witnessing real love for the first time. --> Love, the way she saw it now, drawn in shades of discretion and restraint, was the whisper drowning out the scream, and the profound silences that follow a lingering touch. Love was the world writ small, two persons standing toe to toe in their last minutes together, scrambling for words as they endured a blistering sun... Now that's good stuff. I highly recommend Home Fires. Cheers Roo! - Di Bauden Jan 12th, 2003 |
What a sweet, provacative and downright scary tale. I finished this story with the overwhelming urge to hug my partner. Taleweaver explores a spouse's deepest fear in a short, moving and eye-opening story with a twist ending. Now I'm wondering why I didn't read anything by this writer before tonight! I'll be going to check out the other stories I can find by Taleweaver. Definitely an intriguing read! - Lori Mainesness Jan 12th, 2003 |
Wow! Is this different, or what? Xena and Gabrielle are lost underground? I've never seen any fan fic like this, and I'm glad it was tackled by Taleweaver. This author has bravely taken on first person pov, from Xena's, and done it with humor and style. My only complaint? IT'S NOT FINISHED! Hope it's done soon. I don't normally endorse incomplete stories, but this is worth hanging in for, because I'm sure that the rest of it will be just as entertaining as the first two chapters. - Lori Mainesness Jan 12th, 2003 |
This is such an amazing story it almost convinces you that the characters are real and the events are so realistic it leaves you with sharp twinges in your stomach. Unbelievable story.. - Anonymous Jan 12th, 2003 |
can't wait for the 'outcome' of this story! an excellent start to an intriguing storyline - polar girl Jan 11th, 2003 |
I've read this story three times now, and I never tire of it. It's refreshingly unusual, well-written and intriguing enough to make this a keeper in my printed favorites (and I'm picky about what goes into that pile!) I think this tale should become a classic. If you haven't read it yet, read it now and witness a classic in the making! It's not your same-old-Uber! - Taleweaver Jan 11th, 2003 |
It is both entertaining and well crafted short story. There is intrigue here, and devotion. I admire the faithfulness of love between Jenny and Lian. Acceptance of the long wait, and as I said, faithfulness of their love, no matter how long the wait. - Kaye - Jan 11th, 2003 |
Read this entire series, was surprised by the depth of the story, and pleased with the writing. Strong characters with personal adjustments to make, however reluctantly to hurt others. Well written short pieces. Now, how about getting them together finally! - Kaye - Jan 11th, 2003 |
"Here's your chance to tell a LOT of people about your new favorites, or the old classics that you've enjoyed over the years. Many of the older stories are wonderful, but are now lying there 'gathering dust' because only a few people know or remember them. So, if you read something good, tell others about it!"Be Well,
I agree. I've read a few of its type but this has a real sharp edge to it. The combination of horror, thriller and supernatural fantasy is really interesting. - Anonymous Jan 10th, 2003 |
BSRaven moves her characters through time, and between reality and illusion with remarkable skill. Past and present intertwine, shedding new light on an old love. This writer posses remarkable talent, and has written a very moving story. - Martin J Jan 10th, 2003 |
I wasn't aware there was another Packer out there. I have had the name Packer for quite some time now and most know I have connections to another barb and would never cast any dispursions on other writer's stories concerning it's origin, nor would I suggest similiarities to another story with that purpose in mind. I do know the writer of this story, and find her effort to be refreshing and delightful. I believe BS's theme was to show love is forever, and has no begining or end, and knows no timeframe. I believe she has done this very well, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this story for your reading pleasure. - Packer (Linda) Jan 10th, 2003 |
[Fan Fiction Editors Note: The link has been fixed.] The link to De Ja Vu All Over Again is actually to a different story (A Taste of De Ja Vu), so I'm not sure which one the first comment was meant for. I do know, though, that Ella Quince is by far one of the best X:WP writers out there. Her stories, such as this one, have intelligent and original plots, clever dialogue, humor, and are just a sheer pleasure to read. If I could have only five X:WP writers' works on a desert island, Ella Quince would be one of them. - Della Jan 9th, 2003 |
Wow!! This is a great start to a series that is intriguing in its short length, but certainly not lacking in depth of emotion! Kudos to the writer! - Wolf Maiden Jan 9th, 2003 |
WONDERFUL tale! I love the quotes and poetry at the beginning of each part...they are a little added bonus that help set the mood! This writer has created some new characters and situations, but has maintained that unbreakable bond between Xena and Gabrielle that made us watch so avidly when it was first shown on TV. Thanks for the great writing! - Radar Jan 9th, 2003 |
My second posted reading of the day, and just as nice as the first. This piece has emotion and depth. I loved the line "Burning her image into her mind to hold onto for a lifetime." What a thought. Good read. - Constance D. Jan 9th, 2003 |
Seems I'm a day late, a dollar short and won't get to read more from this bard as I wanted. She's had to remove her stories. What a damn shame and loss to the xenaverse. :( - Kaye Jan 9th, 2003 |
I'm away for two weeks on Reserve duty and the Scrolls posts so many stories I didn't know where to start, so, I clicked on this short piece that was first last week and began there. Goodness, what a nice way to start my off day with this new barb's story. I found it to be an engaging storyline that is filled with depth and imagery, while also delivering an entertaining work of readable, but bizzare fan fiction. I love those leathers. - Constance D. Jan 9th, 2003 |
'Round and 'round we go! Will the day never end? ;) I'm glad I didn't miss this, it is one very good story. I'm going to put on my ME tee and read more from this bard. - Kaye Jan 9th, 2003 |
I disagree with Packer. This story is nothing like J. Falconer's I've Seen the Light and It's Dark, and it has a depth all of its own. For a first time story the writer has obtained a level that some other seasoned writers haven't. I found to be a most enjoyable read and look forward to anything else this author pens. - Russell Jan 9th, 2003 |
A really enjoyed this well written story full of suspense, devotion, and most of all love. - Lisa Jan 9th, 2003 |
Talent can be admired without blindly, adoring every word a bard writes. Regardless of the subject matter or gender of the main character, this story is just too disjointed for me. - Kaye Jan 9th, 2003 |
A good read which reminded me of J. Falconer's excellent story I've Seen the Light and It's Dark but without the depth. - Packer Jan 9th, 2003 |
This is a romantic beautiful story that really helped me get through a tough night. Thanks - niki Jan 9th, 2003 |
That was the best hysterical thing I`ve ever read! I laughed so hard I nearly chocked on my tounge, earnestly. - ninbard Jan 9th, 2003 |
I don't think the above comment does justice for Ella Quince. She is an amazing writer, and I personally LOVE 'Deja.' She has a great grasp on the characters, the plot is intriguing, and the one thing i love is that she so descriptive. Ella is one of the best fanfiction writers on the net. - Anonymous Jan 8th, 2003 |
This story is a must read. - Bren Jan 8th, 2003 |
Compensation begins as any number of alt fiction stories begin. The troubled dark haired misunderstood woman who meets the innocent blonde woman of her dreams. That's where this story departs. There are no hearts and roses, no quietly whispered 'I love you'. Yet, you like, if not love both characters with equal intensity. S. Anne writes some of the most emotionally powerful fiction I've ever read. I've read this particular story five times already. It gets better with every read. Now if you like this you'll love "Absolution and The Seduction of Laura. " If you haven't read any of these stories you are missing out! - darkenedkarma Jan 8th, 2003 |
This was very good. Well written, emotionally powerful. An all around great read. I highly recommend this to everyone. - Cheryl Jan 8th, 2003 |
This has to be the best conquer story ever written. She paints an excellent picture of a ruling Xena. One who will not apologize for her actions, but instead explains the reasons behind them. Cabrielle in her remarkable yet subtle way gets Xena 'The Merciless' to see that there are other ways to obtain loyalty And to know love. The depth of each character is endless. One can only hope for a sequel. A MUST READ & HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! - Chris L. Jan 8th, 2003 |
Having read all of this author's pieces, I can state fairly confidently that this is not one of her best works. However in speaking with her about it and coming to know the work's intent, if there really was any, I understand that this was one of her first ever completed stories. Ms. Tryst tries something different here, making a man one of two main characters, which is uncommon for her. It's my opinion that she falls short in the development of the piece compared to her other works. I think she should stick to what she knows, because she does a far better job with female characters than with male. Having said all that though, I don't think this piece should be totally dismissed. At the very least, reading this would show you where this author began, and reading something like Love in Photographs would show how far she has come. The first several pages of this seemed choppy and under developed, like it was a different piece, which the author confirmed to be true. She tries to transition into a completely different story line, not as well as she could have, but once into it things begin to flow better. I think there are some redeeming qualities about the book in as much as I did find both main characters likeable. I was somewhat enraged in the beginning at the injustice that appeared to be taking place, but by the end, I felt sympathy and compassion for the them as they had moved through many different relationship obstacles. Ms. Tryst throws a variety of taboo subjects into this work and for that I commmend her. She has made the effort to expand her boundaries and has put her characters through horrendous trials (all of which are clearly defined in the disclaimer and should be read ahead of time). An interesting and different read. - Anonymous Jan 8th, 2003 |
I found this to be right up there with the best of the top stories. I liked that the writer didn't stay in what we consider normal range of writing and love. I found it refreshing to find love no matter the age difference. You will find this a good read if you will only open yourself up to the possibilities offered. - Claudia Henry Jan 7th, 2003 |
Suspencful and spooky well written story with just enough insight to keep you reading till you reach the unsuspected but happy ending. I liked it and think you will too. - Claudia Henry Jan 7th, 2003 |
I really have to disagree with the previous posters comment. This is a good start to an unusual story. - Anonymous Jan 7th, 2003 |
You need more practice. You know what they say, practice makes perfect, and there definitely needs more practice on your writings. - Webster Jan 7th, 2003 |
I loved this story the first time I read it. Reading it again was a delight. I always look forward to this bard's work...when will we get more?? - Lisa Jan 7th, 2003 |
I have enjoyed several of this author's stories, although with some reservations about the prevalent "Lolita" themes, so I thought I'd give this one a try. Unfortunately, I found myself loathing one character that turns out to be, weirdly enough, the protagonist. There's not a single character that I wanted to care about or respect in this story. I kept wondering if it were satirical, or if the main characters were going to go through some ironic shift, but that was not the case. - Anonymous Jan 6th, 2003 |
Yes, I noticed the photographs, but what caught my attention, was the way the writer brought our favorite warrior into the story with the night vision-dream. Our warrior with the leathers and sword being depicted then changing back to the oil painting was neat. Never could get if it was banchees or something else haunting her, but I like it none the less. - Alex H. Jan 6th, 2003 |
Did you notice the little pieces being tossed at you, and expecially the way the photographs help make the story, with all of it nicely tied together to be a good suspensful story. Really liked this shortie. - Thomas Schneider Jan 6th, 2003 |
This story, like all her others, is really well written. If you see the name Radclyffe just read it, you won't be disappointed--garanteed. - Anonymous Jan 6th, 2003 |
I would just like to say that this was one of the best pieces of fiction I've read in a while. I was fascinated by the different subsets of the story and the development of the characters. By the time I finished reading, I was so involved that I didn't realize it ended, sitting there wondering "what happens?" (for two days I might add). I definitely look forward to a sequel. - Merlin Jan 6th, 2003 |
Wonderful story!!!! This is about Lily and Anna trapped in a earthquake.Suspense and humor in a extremly well written story, read pleasantly. - Leth Jan 5th, 2003 |
Just read this story. Very Good One. The couple of suprises were nice. It's good to read something and come away with a surprised, but good feeling don't you think! - YarmouthW. Jan 4th, 2003 |
Smooth, nice story. Great short read. If you want to spend 15 minutes being entainterained, the read this short story. It is nicely done! - Ericicodescot Jan 4th, 2003 |
I'd love to see a sequal to this story. I've got a growing fondness for werewolf stories since reading Hunter Ash's "Red Moon Series". The story is nicely done, a great quick read. Not as mentally inticing as "Believe" was for me, but very good nonetheless. I'm slowly making my way through all the stories by this author, she's quite the find. - Lisa Jan 4th, 2003 |
I don't normally read unfinished stories but have bent that rule a couple of times. I'm glad I did for this one, this is literally laugh-out-loud funny and hopefully a good love story to boot! - Kaye Jan 4th, 2003 |
This is a short story that is everything I've come to expect from this bard. It's packed with emotion and action. It's a story that draws you in and doesn't let you go until the end. Personally I didn't want it to end. This is a must read. - Tara Jan 4th, 2003 |
Ms. Tryst is an excellent wordsmith and doesn't disappoint with this story. Her penchant for may/pre-december characterizations notwithstanding, the author makes it work and moves her characters through a truly believable tale. A very good read. - Kaye Jan 4th, 2003 |
Wow. An Amazing story. I admit to not recognizing the author, so I read because it was new and short (less than 50 pages). I was greatly surprised and wonderfully amazed at the depth and care, and the wonder the story created. Two memorable characters on both heaven and earth. I highly recommend this. - Lisa Jan 4th, 2003 |
I absolutely love this wild fun tale. I loved this movie and this took it a step further. I love and adore baby!!! - yolanda Jan 3rd, 2003 |
In this delightful tale, it reveals love transends time and all sorts of clamities. A tribute to the writers' ability. Highly recommended short read. - QueenieBeGood Jan 3rd, 2003 |
I am proud to announce that the January 2003 recipient of the Charani Award of
Excellence in Fiction for Ethnic or Religious Diversity goes to Archangel for
Desert Hawk. Desert Hawk by Archangel is a creative tale written by a new and upcoming bard. Desert Hawk introduces us to Dylan Hawk, a young woman who is part Native American. The struggle and complications of her family upbringing combined with her dual heritage are interwoven in an engaging plot that is filled with depth and imagery. Archangel has managed to incorporate the vast struggles surrounding dual heritage while also delivering an entertaining work of fiction. Because of this, it fulfills the objective of the Charani Award of Excellence for the incorporation of ethnicity. Please join me in congratulating Archangel for Desert Hawk. =========== - Crystal Michallet - -- L. [Fan Fiction Editor's Note: The following comment contains some spoilers for the above work.] It is my opinion that this is absolutely the best piece from this author to date. The relationship between the main characters as well as the subplots and secondary relationships are well-developed. Torrance Whitfield is an excellent character sketch. You can tell this character is full of compassion and love, making her truly liekable even when her flaws are brought to light. As for the other main character, Helen, she is sophisticated and open. From the moment these two come together, you can tell something is going to happen, and the rollercoaster ride is fabulous. In addition September 11, 2001 is dealt with in a sensitive manner. The passage is emotional and trying on the characters, but the way it was written was well-constructed, and I give kudos to the author for taking on the challenge. If you read only one piece by Alex Tryst, this is the one you should read. - Anonymous Jan 3rd, 2003 |
[Fan Fiction Editor's Note: The following comment contains some spoilers for the above work.] This book is alluring within the scope of fiction and yet potentially perverse in terms of reality. The author not only "borrows" the name of one of the characters from Vladimir Nabokov's "Lolita", she seems to have "borrowed" the story as well. However unlike the classic novel, it is difficult as best to find fault with our older main character, Drew, who is such an ethical, caring person in all other facets of her life that it is hard to detest her for her choices throughout the piece. There is also a magnetism of the younger character, Lola, that captures you from almost the beginning. She is cunning and sensuous for a woman/child her age. I find that the anger and frustration people (and my own) may feel about this piece is not aimed at the book itself but rather their own reaction to it, because it tests the foundations of one's beliefs. What is right and what is wrong is not as clearly defined in this piece as some may like. It pushes the envelope so to speak, because in a way you want the main characters to find love in each other, and yet the idea of two people with such an age difference being in a relationship is tough to accept. This is a must read even if it merely to see an unusual and twisted plot unfold. - Anonymous Jan 3rd, 2003 |
It was such a different kind of story, and you become so ensnared in the events, you are taken by suprise with the very pleasing end results. I can't believe I didn't guess the ending. It thought Jennifer would drop dead from being scared to death, but thank goodness that didn't happen. I loved it. Yep, I loved it. - Susan and Marie Jan 3rd, 2003 |
Underneath the strange happenings there's a beautiful love returning. I really like that about this piece. - Roman Jan 3rd, 2003 |
[Fan Fiction Editor's Note: The following comment contains some spoilers for the above work.] This was a great piece. It was different from many things that I have read in the past, even from this author. She seems to push the limits with her more recent works, especially this one in which she alters the course of history. A fabulous, creative idea. Granted I can understand the frustration of some of the other commentators, but I believe that the end of the book is apt. Even though the author jumps forward in time, I think she does a good job wrapping up the book in as much as the story is back-filled with significant information. The book seemed to be about love after all, and I think it held true through it. For the princess, the love was obviously displayed and for Lara, it was more subtle. I think the author makes the assumption that readers can make the jump with her from the last chapter to the epilogue where even though it is not explicitly stated, the inference is there that Lara's love for Alexa continued to grow through the years even though not a lot of detail of this is given about that particular subject. To write out another half century would have been cumbersome in my opinion and unnecessary to the plot. Besides I think the love is displayed in other ways through the loved ones around at the end of the piece. This was a great effort to bring something new to the table, and it's an easy, fun read. Although I did cry in a few places. - Anonymous Jan 2nd, 2003 |
This is a very well written and interesting story, I love the characters but what I would like to know is when the next update is. - Marian Jan 2nd, 2003 |
[Fan Fiction Editor's Note: The following comment contains some spoilers for the above work.] IMO this is one of the author's best works. Some of her other stories give a definite uneasiness (enough to where I skip to the part where the child-woman is finally of legal age) with their may/pre-december themes. With "Love In Photographs" Ms. Tryst has perfected her love of the older woman/younger woman genre, especially since this younger character isn't a high school, sapphic, Lolita. ;) There's also a part that deals with 9-11 but the author is kind enough to forewarn her readers. Great story. - Kaye Jan 2nd, 2003 |
This story is AWESOME and a wonderful read. If there's one story out there that deserves to be read then it has to be this one. - Anonymous Jan 2nd, 2003 |
This was quite good. Everyone should try the first kiss. - Carmen Jan 1st, 2003 |
I read this story about a year ago and I loved it. Not only was it original and well written it is passionate and describes this future world in intimate detail. I just checked to see if there is a sequel but none showed up. I hope there will be one. - Jenn Jan 1st, 2003 |
The writer touches and entrances us with her magical suspense. The characters all wrapped up in a compeling happy ending storyline filled with a twist of everlasting love. It is without a doubt one of the best stories I have read . - Dreamcatcher Jan 1st, 2003 |
Bizarre, tangy, and with just enough froth to be irresistible. Great read, only one problem, it was to short. - Kelley Jan 1st, 2003 |
[Fan Fiction Editor's Note: The following comment contains some spoilers for the above work.] After seeing all the comments on this story, I had to take a look. This is the first of Dragonjuls' stories that I've read, and so I can't compare it to her previous work, pro or con. On its own, Silence of Love is an entertaining uber romance which struck me as more Janice and Mel, than Xena and Gabrielle. I found the text in need of some editing to ease readability, (commas, and sentence breaks), and I didn't find the intro or character list necessary. Beyond this, Silence of Love follows the uber formula of 1)characters with a dark pasts, 2)meeting fortuitously, 3)developing mutual feelings of love in denial, and repressing their expression, 4)a rift, 5)a reapproachment after soulsearching, 6)a climactic catalyst leading to their declarations of love, and 7)the happy resolution. It's competently written, engaging, and has a satisfying conclusion. I found its most uncharacteristic features to be 1)it's somewhat longer than the most popular stories, 2)its male characters are protrayed more positively than is usual in uber. It seems fair to say that for JMDragon, in this story, loving women doesn't reflect its corollary, hating men. That alone makes it refreshing. I think Silence of Love is worth a read. Its not a simple story, emotionally; overall, not a comfortable, funny, heartwarming romance. I suspect that any sense of discontinuity the reader feels may be linked to the method of posting chapters rather than a finished work. Nevertheless, spend a little time reading Silence of Love, then go back to something less challenging if you don't like it. - Phantom Bard Jan 1st, 2003 |
You have to love these characters. Muse on. - Gail Dec 31st, 2002 |
Interesting. Liked it. - Kmberly Dec 31st, 2002 |
Nice story. I enjoyed it. - Kimberly Dec 31st, 2002 |
What a unique story! This is so sweet. I love both Jennier and Lian. Their sassyness is captured so well. I also liked the depiction of the secondary character. Any possibility this is going to be broadened to let us find out more of these two women? - Paul John Dec 31st, 2002 |
Truly interesting to observe what a bizarre scheme can be carried out to produce such a positive future for two lovers rejoined. Short, but a full story packed with intrigue, mysterious going ons, and a happy ending. Very good first time effort. Keep it up. - James T. Dec 31st, 2002 |
I really enjoyed this story. It was soul-satisfying, if you'll pardon the pun. It was a story of love, loyalty and dedication. I've often wondered if I had a guardian angel, and this tale made me feel a little more hopeful. I'd like to thank the author for sharing this wonderful story with us. I hope to see more! - Taleweaver Dec 31st, 2002 |
