The Athenaeum Top-100 List for 2002!
Although this is the Top-100 for 2002, it only includes the 8 1/2 months after we began our Top-25 lists last April.  In the time we've been doing the lists, there have been 1,291,175 links followed to stories we host or link to.  We do not include or count hits on our What's New Page, Index Page, or Search Engine.  This is our best measure of what is being read from our site.  Currently, our index contains 1081 authors' works totalling 3,702 stories; of those 902 are Über/original. Along with the titles and authors and other pertinent information, we are including our reviews as well as all of the fan comments available for each tale!

Now...on with the countdown!

100. J.A. Bard's alternative Über Getting to Know You (32 Pages) finished on the Top-25 list 3 times.
Getting to Know You is the sequel to 'Strangers Until We Meet.' Detective Alex Adison had worked for an unofficial covert group that specifically hunted out sensitive cases the FBI or local policing agencies were stymied in routing out. For the five years she worked with this group she had no place to call home, or any close friends that knew her as herself. She collected little or no personal items and was in a place for less than a year…until Sunrise. After her last assignment she decided she wanted to have a life of her own…so-to-speak. Chief Harper of the Sunrise Police was more than happy to keep her on as a Detective where she had been working undercover with his knowledge, which meant she now not only had roots, but she knew the townspeople personally to whom she had become closer to than in any other assignment. Then, there was the other very big change in her life…she moved in with someone with the serious intent of setting up a real home life. She had a roommate that she did not have to bodyguard, spy on, or live a lie to. It may have been the excuse she used originally to move in with Elizabeth, but they both knew they were getting into something deeper than a casual roommate situation.

In this wonderfully woven Lara Croft crossover, it is easy to believe that Lady Croft is Xena's descendant and the one whose destiny is, along with Dr. Sarah Covington, to travel half the known world and complete the tasks their ancestors have set for them...including falling helplessly in love.

I really loved this wild cross over story with Lara Croft and Xena. It is so interesting to see how much of Xena is in Lara and surprisingly how much of Lara is in Xena. - Anonymous Sep 15th, 2002
98. Littlespit's alternative, Über A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (12 Pages) finished on the Top-25 list 4 times.
Darlene had been the only neighbor to come over with an offer of help when she had moved into the new house. The tall, strong, beautiful woman had pitched in without a qualm and, between the two of them. they had the house in order in no time at all. Teri had watched as Darlene took her tiny daughter Lucy into the nursery and set her in the bouncy seat then proceeded to explain every move she made as she put the baby’s crib together. She explained the importance of double checking how tight the screws were turned; she would hold up each piece or part and tell the tiny girl what it was and what it did. She had, unknowingly, won Teri’s heart that day. But did the tall beauty feel something in return?

I loved this story. It was a lovely, uplifting, romantic story with just enough cuteness to be wonderful. This is one of my favorite bards! - Sandy Oct 4th, 2002

In this griping romantic tale, Ryanne Cole had made her way to table four with the food, praying Johnny had it right. For the past few orders, he had told her the wrong table, and the green-eyed blonde had been the one to get the customer's wrath. Moments later, the door to the café opened, and a dozen uniformed men walked in. With the café being so close to the Army base, it was not unusual to see the soldiers stop by for a bite to eat while they were on break. What was unusual, however, was the next person in camouflage who walked in. She was tall, maybe 6'0" Ryanne guessed, with jet black hair and piercing blue eyes. The name-tag read K. Jones, and when the green-eyed blonde looked her way, Kris somehow wanted to speak to her forever.

Xena had accepted the job in lieu of attending the seasonal initiation ceremony in the Amazon Village for the new crop of warriors. Gabrielle was attending the ceremony as their Queen so at the cross-roads about two weeks ago they parted company. Xena was relieved they had met a small party of Amazons returning to participate in the celebrations. The experience of Gabrielle traveling alone usually was as eventful as when Xena traveled with her...busy and oftentimes...dangerous. OMG! What an absolutely amazing story! A cop and a lawyer meet in an elevator...both attracted to each other, but neither one willing to take the first step. But when Moocher (you just have to love this woman!) steps in on behalf of her friend Maggie, OMG! the sparks really fly! Anne is smitten instantly and these two are off on a most incredible adventure of discovery, love, life...But make sure you have the tissues ready! There are tons of spew alerts, but for every spew there is a tear-jerker h/c scene not too far behind! Zuke provides a brilliant balance of real life ups and down, human dialogue and characters you just can't get enough of!!!! Is there really a sequel? Is this published yet? Please, this needs to be a real book! - Ann - Oct 24th, 2002

"Curve" is a great story about two women that meet, resist love, then plunge in with both feet. They have their ups and downs, tread through great conflict, and nearly part company. The ending is satisfying, the story is entertaining and beyond measure. I hear there MIGHT be a sequel too! Zuke is a gifted, under-heralded writer of great scope. You won't be disappointed with any of her works! - Taleweaver - Oct 23rd, 2002

47. Eveh's alternative Über Version's Of Fate series of vignettes that began with Your Weakness Is Me.
This meeting wasn't supposed to happen. For Tamera and Morgan, this would have to be the last time. When the sun did rise they would be forced to separate. They would go to their separate lives and pretend like none of this had ever happened. They would forget the soft touches and lingering caresses. They would forget the taste of each other. They would forget the sound the other made at the height of ecstasy. But could they?

I'm really enjoying this little series of vignettes. - Anonymous - Oct 31st, 2002

45. Larisa's alternative Über MacArthur's (74 pages) spent 3 weeks on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.
In this tale Keila is fighting to escape the disgusting claws of her revolting, abusive boyfriend. In her flight, she stumbles into the arms of a tall beauty named Conner, where she quickly begins to consider, as the author puts it, jumping to the other side of the fence. As the relationship develops they are forced to deal with a boyfriend that has an IQ roughly equal to that of the average rodent, and a vengeful ex-lover that's bent on revenge.

If you like a stonking good tale with knockabout comedy and a healthy dose of romping by our two favourite Uber chicks, you can't go far wrong with a Larisa story. Engaging and entertaining. - Anonymous - May 16th, 2002

Until Sean is called to her house to find out why she isn't answering her door. It becomes a battle of wills as to who will win in the end.

It sounds pretty boring from what it tells us little about the story, especially a cripple of "you know who" BUT MY GOSH! It's totally HILARIOUS!!! A very good story to read, even though the start of the story isn't very attractive. Recommended!! - Chen - Dec 26th, 2002

This was the very first story I ever read by Larisa... This story was what got me hooked. The imagery in everything she writes shows here in this story. I fell in total love with Larisa's writtings, because of this story. I read it in only an hour and a half... and could not believe what I was reading! I wanted mroe, and right away! Larisa rocks! - Amanda Windeler - Nov 10th, 2002
41. S. Lee's alternative Über Three Days (17 pages) spent 4 weeks on the Top-25 list.
Kat Green pounded on her guitar, and sang her heart out on the hot stage in the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. The singer couln't wait to get home to her pregnant wife Beth. They'd have three days together...three blisfull days before she had to go back on the road.

What a charming love story. The characters are so natural and the love between them is so real! I enjoy S.Lee's sense of humor and playfulness. It's a fun, sweet, pleasurable read! Can't wait for the 2nd part of the trilogy. - A Fanfic Uber Fanatic - Oct 14th, 2002
Very sweet and very funny. These characters are adorable and so very romantic. I wish I had a partner like Kat. - Anonymous - Oct 10th, 2002
40. Zee alternative Über Past Is Present (130 pages) spent 3 weeks on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.
In this powerful romantic Uber, Cameron and Amanda, meet by chance after many years and find there's still a spark there. Can they get past their history and start anew? Filled with the gamut of emotions, and with a little help from their friends, maybe love will persevere, and the past won't cloud thier present.

Zee brings to the table compelling characters and an eye for the way in which terrible experiences shape one's life. A thrill ride of emotions--tears, laughter, loneliness, joy, a dash of craziness and a heap of romance. There is a large secondary cast of characters who round out the story, including Sammy & Nikki..who I'm still trying to figure out - X X - Sep 28th, 2002

38. Darkenedkarma alternative Über Crescent Wrench (21 pages) spent 2 weeks on the Top-25 including 1 week at #1
I was going to write a teaser for this but the Beverly Hillbilly's theme keeps playing in my head making it impossible. So, in a nutshell, this is a time travel/romantic story that gives a brief glimpse of my idea of hell or the future. However you want to look at it. I just know that one day republican's will run the earth and make all the fun go away.

I haven't read a story by this author that I haven't liked. Crescent Wrench is no exception. It was great. I can't wait for the next story to be posted. - Rowan - Oct 8th, 2002 .
37. C. E. Gray alternative Über MVP (160 pages) spent 7 weeks on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.

Gray follows Cody as she tries to shake her past and find our what true love is all about. Even though this is fairly standard uber fare, I was thoroughly charmed by this tale.

Even though I don't read uber stories, this is the best one i have ever read. This is truly a great story. I could picture everything in my head so clearly. It was truly wonderful and recomend that any one comming across this story should read it. - Alise??May 22nd, 2002

In this beautifully romantic Uber by Colleen, Jamie Sheridan, a tall dark beauty who is a proof-reader by day and a limo driver by night, has just begun trying to get on with her life after a somewhat shady past, when she decides to accept her co-worker's invitation for a get-together at her house. There, Jamie meets someone who might just make all the difference…Erin Casey. Erin is Bridgett's younger sister, a beautiful blonde writer blinded in an accident, who seems to 'see' into Jamies' very soul. Follow this sweet and moving tale as their relationship develops, moving past emotional baggage and adversity. This is a story not to miss!

This is one of the best stories I have ever read !! I was captivated from the first chapter !! I would recommed it to everybody !! - AJ Aug 28th, 2002

One of the best stories I've ever read. Simply beautiful. - Anonymous Apr 29th, 2002
35. Larisa's alternative, Über Whips and Chains (36 Pages) finished on the Top-25 list 6 times.
When JD takes off on her Harley after a performance with her band, Whips and Chains, she never thought that she'd end up body slamming into a buffalo. Or being body slammed by a small blonde with sea green eyes. Doc Yancy thinks she just has a mysterious woman now living on her ranch. What scares JD most of all is what will happen when Doc learns her true-identity.

I fell in love with this story! It is funny, trivial.. all of Larisa packed into the normal style of her writting. Her description of the band was exceptional! What an imagination this woman has! She can write about anything or anybody. - Amanda Windeler Nov 10th, 2002

I loved the humor in this story, especially the interaction with Yancy and her Aunt. Larisa has got to be nuts! - Dancer Nov 6th, 2002
34. J.P.'s alternative Über Blue Oblivion (150+ Pages) reached the Top-25 5 times in 2002.
I thought I would mention to all my fellow readers that Blue Oblivion has a sequel. It's called 'A Rose in Blue.' A terrific continuation of Blue Oblivion, that deserves to be read and enjoyed by all. There's no link to it yet on the Atheneum but they have been busy lately... :) - darkenedkarma Oct 8th, 2002

31. Larisa's alternative Über Mender Of Souls. (61 pages) finished 2 times on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.
Dr. Isabeau De La Croix practically lives at City Hospital, but one night she's swept away by her cousin to the local bar. A tall dark woman who works there as the Cooler, who has been nick named the Widow Maker, catches her eye and her heart. More lies below the surface of the Widow Maker than what she shows, and her life is in danger because of it.

I don't normally read uber but am very glad I read this one. The author works a magic with her words, that brings forth images from the mind, and feelings from the soul. With the hospital scenes it's not for the squeemish, but others will find it entertaing, and in some cases profoundly thought provoking. I particularly recommend it for readers, "no longer quite as young as they used to be." - Anonymous Jun 23rd, 2002

29. S. Lee's alternative Über Love Has No Pride (44 pages) finished on the Top-25 list 5 times including one week at #1.
In this sequel to 'Three Days,' thirteen years after the first story, Kat is a music legend who's bought into the myth of alcohol and parties and Beth, who comes in unannounced to surprise her, catches her red handed. Will Kat face her problems or will she loose it all? This is S. Lee at her best, weaving a heartfelt tale of love and life, with a poignant ending.

What a nailbiter!! This story is even better than (Three Days)! The beginning put me on edge and was heartbreaking, but the ending was the perfect balm. I had tears by the time I was done reading this. I've read all of S. Lee's work and I think this is the best yet. - JL Nov 17th, 2002
28. Larisa's alternative Über The Sanitation Engineer. (67 pages)
Brice walked into her store that she owned with her long time friend Terry. They had opened the novelty shop ten years ago to sell hard to get collectors items to the public. They had everything ranging from comic books to old 45 records. What made them lots of money were the figurines of super heroes like Xena, Gabrielle, X-men, Spiderman, Batman, Buffy, Willow and the Spawn characters. What they had lost that morning was something that would have brought them a sum of $600.00 dollars. Brice couldn't wait to get her hands on their friend and employee Ralph, he had cost them this sale and she would make sure that he paid for it. Follow along and see how Buzz Lightyear and two very unusual gals by the name of Dink and DK get embroiled with the two partners and some unsavory characters in this fast-paced tale of mystery, toys, espionage and love, along with some quirky moments and classic Larisa-style fun. If you are a collector and a fan, this tale will make you smile!
27. Zee's alternative Über Airwaves. (30 pages)  Airwaves garnered enough readers to finish 3 times on the Top-25 list.
Short blonde Gabriel Wildeman manages a public radio station and things could not get worse. She was beginning to see why she should have taken her friends' advice and not hired one Ms. Jessica Reinhart to be her morning news host. After yet another audio producer was gone, she took a chance on someone who desperately needed a job; her sister Sean. Just an inch taller than she and not one of her favorite people, sporting shoulder-length blood red hair done up in a multitude of tiny braids and flip-flops with an attitude, she would probably not scare off the tall, steely-eyed dark-haired news anchor they called 'ice princess.' They might just get along and save her countless headaches. Weell…Sean HAD just done something NICE for her…
26. Larisa's alternative Über Ripper's Heart (58 Pages) spent 4 weeks on the Top-25 list.
In this third story, Brian and Xepher encounter a killer that's targetting not just them, but their newly arrived friends, Danny and Sam. In classic Larisa fashion, Bri and Sam, the 'infante terribles' of the medical field will make you howl at thier antics, and be glad they are not related to them in any way. This is another great murder and mayhem tale in this series.

My favorite in the series. I'm really enjoying the characters of Xepher and Brian, the cool new supporting characters and I LOVE what they named the dog. Good plot, wrapped up nicely and less gore! A new favorite. - Mich Sep 14th, 2002
25. Larisa's alternative Über Reason of Insanity (65 Pages) spent 5 weeks on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.
The Judge cracked a small smile and nodded his head, eyeing Special Prosecuting Attorney Sylvie Jonis & former Psychiatrist now profiler Blade Williams. "We've got four patients that were committed after they were sentenced guilty for reason of insanity; each one responsible for heinous crimes that took lives. Over the last two years, they've been released. Now we have one dead doctor and his patient that spends money from the grave, and one Albert J. Johnston that has gone missing from the nut house." So who’s going to do a little snooping?? Brushing her dark bangs out of her eyes, Blade gave them an evil grin after she was volunteered. “After this is over with, you two owe me big time; I want a bottle of Remy Martin so I can drink myself stupid.” It doesn’t take long for that one bottle to be upped to at least three, as Blade goes into the insanity of the place full of interesting characters, especially an endearingly scary, candy-gobbling blonde in footy PJ’s who’s fav phrase "Who's your daddy?" just about makes her melt. The antics will keep the reader rolling until the very end.

Oh my GODS! I laugh every time I think of Sweetpea painted green and yelling 'Who's your daddy?' Love Larisa's weird sense of humor. - Dancer Dec 10th, 2002

Larisa struck gold here. I think it was most definitely one of her best stories. I laughed the entire time, and the characters are wonderful. A must-read if you like a good plot and lots of laughs. - Larkin Nov 8th, 2002
24. Larisa's alternative Über Haunted Past (62 Pages) spent 3 weeks on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.
Here's one that has all the makings of Country-Western songs...several of them! ;-) Actually, using Blake Shelton song as somewhat of a backdrop, Larisa spins Gillian and Erins' tale of love found, love lost, and love found again in this bitter-sweet reminiscence tale with a classic ending.

This story was different than what I'm used ot form Larisa. But, it was still just as good as any she's ever written! It was very good... can't wiat for part two! - Amanda Windeler Nov 10th, 2002

What a wonderful story this Bard has written, I truly enjoyed it. - Teresa Oct 16th, 2002
23. Larisa's alternative Über Chase the Storm (67 pages) was on the Top-25 list for only at the end of December, but Storm did sets a new record for the most hits in a single week with 3015 and of course a 1st place finish as well.  Only Larisa's Day Walker can also claim more then 3000 hits in a single week.
In usual Larisa fashion, the laughs are a mile a minute as spitfire TV anchor Gavin De la Rouge, gets a two-month assignment with 'The Storm Troopers,' whose rep as computer geeks, weather freaks and probably perverts, is the least of her problems. Truth is, the Troopers, headed by the taciturn Dr. T. Storm, are as much proficient professionals heading into danger trying to predict the next twister, as they are nuts. Gavin shortly fits right in with Beavis, Butkis, Dustball & Andy, and especially tall, blue-eyed, Mini Me-toting T., who just can’t help falling for the short blonde anchor. Get set for great laughs and a fast-paced read that will leave a big smile on your face!

From the other comments, I expected to find this story witty, but I'm afraid I didn't. Much of the "humor" consists of characters yelling at each other in situations that seem contrived even by fan fiction standards. The secondary characters are too cutesy, the bad guys are one-dimensional, and there's not much effort at realistic dialogue. Guess my sense of humor is more of the Creme Brulee type. - Anonymous Dec 30th, 2002

I recently discovered Larisa's work and then read "Chase the Storm". I gotta tell you if you haven't already checked out Larisa's stories, run....don't walk. Almost each and every story will make you laugh and hate to see the story end. Larisa writes in such a way that you feel that you are watching the story take place on the screen. Great work... thanks Larisa! - JO Dec 27th, 2002

22. Larisa's alternative Über novella Chicken Little (86 Pages) spent 4 weeks on the Top-25 list including 1 week at #1.
Grisly and her friends Daryl and Marty work at the local chicken processing plant, where the management is less than...quality. Enter Bronte - tall, dark, and dangerous-looking...just what Grisly dreamed about. What results are some very funny moments and some outrageous dialogue and more about chicken processing than you'd ever want to know!

This is more than I ever wanted to know about chicken processing plants since the infamous X-Files episode. But the laughs keep coming! A GREAT read! - Anastacia13 Sep 10th, 2002

The author has found my funny bone and I just keep coming back for more. - a Larisa fan Sep 1st, 2002

She is one great writer, maybe the best around - Anonymous Oct 27th, 2002

I started this story by mistake, I actually thought it was a story by a different author. But once I started reading this story I didn't want to stop. I thought it was great! A very suspenseful story, but the author didn't try to draw it out like some I've read. It was very cleanly written. I even wrote the author to tell her and she wrote back, a very funny and polite note. She's working on a new story and I for one can't wait to read it. - Tina Oct 24th, 2002

I've read each and every story that this bard has given us. I believe 'Afraid of the Dark' is her best work yet. It was acutally hard to choose a favorite. I encourage anyone who wants a great read to pick any of this bards work, I garuntee you'll love it. - raven_heart Sep 17th, 2002

A well written PWP story with a bit of BDSM. Friday nights were never this good!

I loved it. Brilliantly paced, characters that live, breathe and sweat. But why isn't there a "Do not read at Work" warning on it? It needs one badly! I'm really looking forward to reading more from this bard! - Tania2 Sep 27th, 2002

OMG!! very very good
- Engel1 Sep 25th, 2002

Whoa! You'll need to sit in a bucket of ice while thinking of Antartica after reading this one. Just enough BDSM to make it interesting and quickstart your libido! ;) - Kay Sep 21st, 2002

Though BDSM is not my cup of tea, I found this a very well written story. I found the shortness of the story increased the impact, enhancing the overall power of the narrative. Would love to see more from this author. - Chuchi Sep 17th, 2002

You'll need an ice bath after this story, it's pacing and content are great! - Anonymous Sep 9th, 2002

Good story, although not as strong as the first in the series, and a whole lot more gruesome. - Mich Sep 14th, 2002

Not what I've come to expect from this author. The laughs were still good tho. - A Larisa Fan Aug 25th, 2002

11. Ri's alternative Behind the Black Cloud... (100 Pages)  5 weeks on the Top-25 list in 2002.
In this romantic Uber, Rosie had only been at the job for a very short time and she was doing well as junior in accountant in the prestigious accounting firm. In prior positions she always fit in easily with most of the staff. This time she felt so alone. It was getting to be a desperate situation and Rosie really had no idea how to handle it any more. In steps a tall, dark-haired stanger with warm blue eyes whom she meets at Starbucks, who just happens to be the one person that could help.

This was such a lovely romantic story. I love how sweet the characters are and I couldn't wait to find out how the story ended. It was such fun ending I hope Ri writes more of it - Pip - Sep 27th, 2002
10. Alex's alternative Über Two Halves, One Soul. (61 Pages)   7 weeks on the Top-25 list in 2002.
When Danny meets Jesse, the sparks fly...it's as they've known each other forever, and there is an unconscious communication between them that seems like they are one. A wonderfully romantic tale with a bit of spice!
9. Larisa alternative Über Blind Date. (71 Pages)  5 weeks on the Top-25 list in 2002.
This story tells of the perils that Levi Straussenhofer endures while trying to find the 'One' to make her life complete. She answers the personal ads in the newspaper and suffers nightly with the freaks that show up and are nowhere near how they describe themselves in their ad. Then one night while trying to escape a date from Hell, she literally runs into a pair of leather-clad legs under the table next to her. Ice blue eyes capture her - this could be the 'One.' The only problem is that she believes that the tall woman is...well, you'll see...it's one of the things in her ad she wants nothing to do with!

Hi! I've read ur story "Blind Date". It's great! Just great! I laughed like crazy while reading it! I guess we have a similar sense of humor. Thank u very much for ur writing! Best regards. - Angel - Nov 12th, 2002

Genuinely endearing characters, funny dialogue and an incredibly sweet romance. And fish. Lots of 'em. Read it! - Anonymous - Jun 19th, 2002
8. Larisa's alternative Über Lost. (20 Pages)  9 weeks on the Top-25 list in 2002 including 2 weeks at #1.
Most of the time a story I read can rouse a chuckle from me. Sometimes it may even make me laugh. Lost did all those things, plus some undignified snorting when I could no longer breathe. This is simply one of the funniest, most off the wall story's I've ever read. I've read it three times so far and each and every time it brings tears of laughter to my eyes and makes those around me look at me as if I'm insane.

Two reasons to read this story:1)Larisa wrote it! and 2)It's a Larisa story with animals in it!!! - JB - Oct 12th, 2002

I'm still laughing!! What a great little short story!!! I give it a really big spew alert! If you value your computer keep all liquids away. I am hooked on this bards great little stories! - Char - Jul 1st, 2002

This story was most enjoyable and had me laughing quite often till it hurt and was a very good read. - Anonymous - Jun 22nd, 2002
Gotta read this one folks - bizarre, funny and ultimately incredibly touching. - pebble - Jun 14th, 2002
7. Larisa's alternative Über Capon's Savage. (57 Pages)  spent 3 weeks on the Top-25 list in 2002 including 2 weeks at #1. That makes it the fastest to reach the top-10 for the year.
Dash Monroe is a photo-journalist for the Washington Traveler, assigned to the annual Bungee Jumping event from Capon's Bridge, West Virginia. In a place full fo history and mystery, a routine shoot takes an unexpected turn that will take Dash face-to-face with the legendary Capon Savage, the past and the future. A slight departure from her usual for this author, this is one story of thought, mysticism, romance, history and many a laugh that's sure to please all!

Is it different from her other work? Yes. Doesn't matter - this is a really nice change for Larisa, and one that demonstrates her range very well. I really enjoyed Capon Savage and disagree with the comments that say it is not among her better work. - Anonymous - Oct 25th, 2002

Larisa has written a love story that transcends time. This one gently captures your heart, then holds you spellbound. Well done, bard. - ~M~ - Sep 28th, 2002

This is one great romantic tale with the classic overtures of what an Uber is all about! Wonderful! - Solari5 - Sep 23rd, 2002

Not one of the better works by the writer. Shaky and rough, guess even the good writers have bad days. - Lari - Sep 23rd, 2002

I have read and liked most of Larisa's work but Capon's Savage is the first time I have felt compelled to write and say how much I loved reading a story. - russell dodd - Sep 21st, 2002

This author has style!!! Don't let the negative comments fool you - this one is funny and romantic. Don't expect it to be like Body Parts though! Hey, would I lie? - One 'lil Amazon - Sep 18th, 2002

I really loved this story, Larisa knows what a romantic I am and she weaved an enchanting tale. I think the charachters are wonderful and they all have a great deal of depth even the smaller charachters are intersting and full of life. I think its a terrific story! - Ri - Sep 17th, 2002

Larisa 's earlier work has more substance and depth. She is writing stories to quickly and they are lacking because of it. - anonymous - Sep 16th, 2002

I loved this story, Larisa writes stories that make you think on a deeper level. And the dialogue between characters had me laughing quite often. - Sharon - Sep 15th, 2002

Not one of Larisa's better stories. The characters and dialogue seem kind of familiar, and the bad guys are pretty stereotypical. A couple of funny lines, though. - k.j. - Sep 14th, 2002

This is one romantic story Larisa wrote. Almost had me in tears. - Anonymous - Sep 14th, 2002

I love how Larisa weaves history in and out of this story so easily! It's somewhat of a change, kinda mystic and romantic, which shows the versatility of this bard. I highly recommend this deeper-thinking tale that will charm and enchant all readers! - Anastacia13 - Sep 13th, 2002

Normally I love Larisa's work. She has a great sense of humour, but this one was very off. Needs to be re edited to remove the beta reader's comments and re thought as a whole, to many gaps and lags. - Riah - Sep 12th, 2002
6. Larisa's alternative Über Day Walker. (55 pages)  Day Walker spent 3 weeks on the Top-25 list in 2002 tieing Capon's Savage for the fastest rise to the top-10 for the year.  Day Walker also spend 1 week at #1.
Get ready to meet Memphis Belle and Luka and go Cajun in this tasty tale by the Mistress of Maybem and Weird Relatives! You will re-write what you know about vampires and roll on the floor laughing in this very funny and sometimes violent gem set in Mardi Gras country, where romance...ahh...Sprouts, and the characters are out of this world...literally! ;-)

I loved this story!!!!! Larisa is one of the best uber writers out there in my opinion. I can't wait for more about Luka and Memphis(and Sprout too!) Please give us more Day Walker! - Jbamazon - Dec 18th, 2002

I absolutely do not read Vampire stories. This story though is so wonderful that I loved every word. The charachters are sweet and funny and I loved every moment of it. I almost forgot that I was reading a vampire story I was having so much fun. Great Job Kiddo!!!!! - Ri - Dec 18th, 2002

I stayed up reeeeal late one night reading this, and it was sooo worth it! This is a fabulous story! I don't know which I found more enchanting... Sprout or Mama. Larisa has outdone herself with this one. I loved it! Thanks for the laughs. - Taleweaver - Dec 16th, 2002

Are you afraid of vampires?...well don't be with Fang and friends around. Another HIT from Larisa. I'm still laughing and very warm with this latest installment. Read it and you'll see why. Loved it! - NLW - Dec 12th, 2002

Good God, i havent laughed so hard (or needed a bucket of ice soo badly) in a LONG time! This is a great story! both for the plot and the nutso characters! - Wind - Dec 10th, 2002

I've come to the conclusion that Larisa should be certified as a nut case. She has the strangest characters in her stories and IT WORKS! I love the little ones Sprout and Lia! She may have been MIA for a while but she came back with a WINNER! I laughed until I couldn't breathe, keep up the great work. - Dancer - Dec 10th, 2002

One word...Sprout!!! This newest offering from Larisa had my partner rolling on the floor and the dog questioning our sanity we laughed so much. ;-) To the author: Fangs for the memories! (you may gag at that or write another story whichever you choose.) - Kay - Dec 5th, 2002

Since Larisa hasn't written in a while, she has definately came out with something worth the wait. A DAMNED good story if I say so myself. One that I actually have read twice. The characters are so funny and every bit as perverted as the ones in her other stories. Good reading and recommend it to anyone who needs a good laugh. Good job Larisa and keep up the good work!! ^_^ - Anonymous - Dec 4th, 2002

4. Larisa's alternative Über Body Parts. (58 Pages)  Body Parts spent 9 weeks on the Top-25 list in 2002 including 1 week at #1.
Detective Xepher Sallano, trying to solve what appear to be serial murders, keeps running into dead ends...literally. Then the Medical Examiner dies in the midst of the inverstigation, and his replacement is makes Sallano see red. It's hate at first sight for Chief Medical Examiner Brianna Meadows, too. Or is it? As the murders get more gruesome, Detective and ME find themselves involved...in more ways than one. This is another of Larisas' gripping tales with unconventional characters, laughs, love and gore, that will keep you spellbound.

Xepher? Guess those "X" names are kinda hard to come by, huh? Once I got past that, and the fact that parts of it are REALLY gory, I quite enjoyed it. - Mich - Sep 14th, 2002
3. Faranath's alternative Riding Against The Odds (42 Pages - Unfinished)  Riding Against The Odds spent 12 weeks on the Top-25 list, and holds the all time record.

And the most read story of the year was...
1. Larisa's alternative Über Buried Prejudices. (93 Pages)  Buried Prejudices was on the Top-25 list for 10 weeks in 2002 including 1 week at #1.  The story received 6755 reads(hits) for the year.
FBI Director Jericho Chamaune has a hobby of trying to solve the cases of missing women dating back ten years of more. One day her assistant director Stan gives her yet another folder of a missing woman. Like several others, she is a college student from Texas. In all the time she has been working the case, they have yet to find any sign of the missing women. When she placed the picture of the latest missing young woman on her wall, she could not tear her eyes away from the green eyes looking back at her. One day a friend working at the nearby hospital calls her. A woman has been found lying beside a road and brought to the emergency room for treatment. At her first sight of the woman's haunted green eyes, Jericho knows that this is the latest missing woman.

I've just 'discovered' Larisa's stories. Buried Prejudices was fantastic, and I wan't more, more, more!!!! - Anonymous - Dec 11th, 2002

As with all of Larisa's stories, she grabs your undivided attention at the onset and you find you can't stop until the last sentence has been read. All her stories contain the standard beginning, middle, and end...but in between, they're packed with enough action and romance to make your reading a delightful pleasure. - ~M~ - Jun 17th, 2002

I thoroughly enjoyed Buried Prejudices and the rest of your stories. I don't know why I've never read them before, but each new story is like a fine wine - to be savored. - Judy - Jun 13th, 2002

Congratulations to all of the bards who made the Top-100 most read stories list!

You may feel that there are many bards who didn't quite make it onto the list that really deserved a spot amongst the Top-100.  Remember, this list is just what people were reading this year. It's likely that your favorites would be different than what's shown here.  That's why we were wondering if you'd like us to put together a Top-100 list that YOU get to vote on! So if you think you'd like to recommend/nominate stories for such a list, please let us know! Email me at bardeyes2@xenafiction.net We'll only do the second list if there seems to be enough interest.
