Unbound emotion shines from eyes glacial with pride. Xena watches Gabrielle glide upon a cushion of love toward him. He stands at the altar of his promises and she, the warrior princess wearing a cloak of ten thousand doomed lives, can only smile crookedly as Gabrielle and Perdicus join hands.
Sun streaks over the twain, limning them in gold and Xena knows that the flower she had kept in the shade of her protection will now bloom under the careful hand of another.
A gentle kiss is the razor that severs their unending journey.
