As You Desire Me By PatR. (Xena: Janice and Mel - 1900-1960, 29 Pages)
I have a great affinity for Mel/Janice stories, but I cannot bring myself to read either "As You Desire Me" or "The Phoenix And The Flame" as long as these: ' and " , are replaced with this: ? For example: ?I have an apartment in New Orleans, if you don?t have a place to stay.? Now, I've never been a stickler for correct grammar, but this is too much. If corrected, I'd be more than happy to read them, but not as it is right now. Or, alternatively, if someone could guide me to a proper copy, I would be most grateful. - Wolvie - Jun-22-2006

The Odd Couple By Sarkel (X:WP, 70 Pages)
this is a really good story and eventhough i knew it was incomplete, i didn't expect it so soon. The way the author has left the story hanging is soooooo cruel, cos i really wanted to know what happened to Gareth and the fact that i probably never will is not fair. Talk about injustice in the world. Now i know what a cliffhanger really is. jeeeeez. Please, please please Sarkel wherever you are; if you can see this, please could you continue the story. thanks bye. - Queen Victoria - Jun-21-2006
Even the Darkest Heart By Wunderkind (Star Wars - Futuristic, 110 Pages)
Ohh I really like this story and would love to read more. I like the different characters. How each one was different like in the movies. If anybody wants a lesson on the writing language of eros, this is IT. I really like that this never becomes a story where you could insert any set of characters, or real people, and it wouldn't matter if it wasn't X & G. This story keeps true to the characters of X&G - and the eros is ALL ABOUT them. That's not an easy thing to pull off. Congrats, Silk & TZ! - Pysta - Jun-12-2006

I just completed this story and I loved it. Looking back on some of my favorite fanfic, I find I enjoy stories with a bit of recognizable history. This story is so well done, and the characters well developed. It really made me think back a few years. All through this story there were things I wanted to happen that didn't, but that's okay because Mavis made those events turn out better than I ever could. I like AngelRad's writing style. This is very pleasant to read, it has an easy delightful flow to it. My only criticism is I would have like more interaction between the two main characters. Otherwise a really good tale. - Sai - May-31-2006
The Return By Tas (Original / Uber - Futuristic, 306 Pages)
I've read this before and will read it again. The characters are well developed and interesting. The world they live in is based on honor and magic. I'm a fantasy reader and this story fits right in. If you enjoy adventure with a martial twist you'll want to read this. You done good Taz. - nljacksn - May-31-2006

Iron Rose Bleeding By Anne Azel (Original / Uber - Futuristic, 97 Pages)
I kept calling to my partner, reading her lines from this story. I kept reciting several wise sentences, and wanted to run and post them on the fridge so I could be reminded what "WHAT?" truly means, or what "putting a face on really represented. This story touches several issues about earth and it's people, and about other's planet's potential beings. Loved it, loved the characters. Thank you, author. - Anonymous - May-26-2006

  • We've a book publishing update today from Kim Baldwin.

Whitewater Rendezvous is now available from Starcrossed Productions http://www.scp-inc.biz/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=626 and Bella Books. http://www.bellabooks.com/index.htm . The novel is set in Alaska and is very loosely based on a short story I posted here in 2004 by the same name, which made #1 on the list and was #85 on the top 100 list that year.

My second book, Force of Nature, was also based on a couple of stories posted here: Blown Away and Fire and Ice, the latter of which also made #1.

Also, I will be at the GCLS Convention in Atlanta in a couple of weeks, and I'll be attending the York Lesbian Arts Festival in October. Hope to meet some of you at the one or both of the events!

I love hearing from readers: my email is baldwinkim@gmail.com and my website is at www.geocities.com/woodsbard My heartfelt thanks to all of you who have encouraged and supported my writing efforts.

The End Of Our Journey By D. J. Belt (X:WP, 36 Pages)
Every once in a while I read a classic piece that moves me. While I do not read very many classics, this one falls in that category. Perhaps I have missed them, but I have seen few stories that deal with our girls in old age as themselves. I was hesitant to read this story, I'm not sure why, I started and stopped a few times. I guess I'm one of those hangers on that still have visions of the show running around in my head. While this story does not end with Xena's head being lobbed off in the rain, the ending is very poignant and oh so Xena. - gayzer - May-20-2006

My latest novel, The Flip Side of Desire, is now available for pre-order (go to my website and click on the book cover for a sneak preview and ordering information). It will be released officially on May 15th. This, my fourth novel, is a bit of a departure for me. It's the closest thing to a classic romance I've ever written. I hope you enjoy it. Please drop me a line to let me know what you thought of it if you do read it. I love hearing from you.

In conjunction with the book release, I'm embarking on a book tour. At present I have appearances scheduled at:

    Lambda Rising Bookstore--7 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006

I hope to see some of you there! Also, I'll be speaking and signing during the upcoming Golden Crown Literary Society convention in Atlanta, GA June 8 - 11th. If you're interested, go to http://www.gclscon.com/ for more information. The GCLS is a great organization and the convention is very educational and way too much fun.

There are other book signings in the works for Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington in August (dates still to be finalized) and I will be appearing and signing in Provincetown for Women's Week in October. Other dates and locations will be added. If you're a book store owner and you'd like to book an appearance (pun intended), please feel free to e-mail me--I'd love to come see you!

If you're in the UK, there's a small Q & A with me in the current issue of Dykelife magazine. Lesbians on the Loose in Australia is about to run a piece on me (I think it's the June issue), and I've just completed an interview for Book Fetish (interesting questions) that you can find at www.bookfetish.org.

Thanks, as always, for your continued support.

    Hello Everyone:

I belong to a group of Xenites that dedicate some of our time to activities that will help to preserve a space in the Xenaverse. We have translated the www.officialxwpvs.com and www.xwpsubtextvs.com virtual seasons and are currently translating some great fanfic works by Advocate, TNovan, and several other great writers (with permission of course). If you are interested in maintaining this space alive by working with us by translating or planning future projects, we are looking for new members for our group.

We only ask for some minor prerequisites, which are as follows:

    • You must posses at least a 40% understanding of Spanish. It is not necessary to be able to dominate the language in order to translate since there will be someone available to help with language problems. (This would be a great way to improve you language skills).
    • You must posses a great desire to preserve the Xenaverse.
    • You must be able to dedicate some time to translating a few pages of text that would be distributed on a weekly basis and translated within a specified time frame.

    • At this time we are also requesting anyone that is well versed in Spanish, but may not feel totally comfortable doing actual translation to help us out. We are in desperate need of individuals that can check for grammar and syntax of the translated works.

Please remember this is all done for fun and to preserve the Amazon Warrior Spirit in all of us. If you would like more information you may contact us at xenacentro@hotmail.com

The Road Back Home By Lynne Norris (Original / Uber - Modern, 402 Pages)
*SPOILER ALERT!!!* Let me start off by saying I really wasn't looking for anything inparticular... but wanted something to do this evening... I stumbled across Second chances purely accidental.....around 8 this evening and was so caught within the story's web, I stayed up and continued reading the sequel... It is now almost 3am and I just finished reading one of the most heart wrenching tales I have in a while. The life and drama of hospital tales have always been my favorite. *snort* heaven knows I've seen more than I like from the inside. You did finominal with your detailing of the chaos that is the ER. And painted quite a picture of the daily life. The love between Alex and Regina is amazing... My heart leaped when Alex was shot. I am just glad it came to a happy ending... that they made it through together. This story had me hooked from the first to the last word. Letting the tale unravel just makes you anxious to know what happens... I was left with a few questions. I am curious on one thing....maybe I missed it not sure yet... Did Alex ever give her the ring? I would love to read something else you have written some day. You spin an amazing tale. Anywho...as I mentioned it is very late and I should get some rest..Before my head hits the keys and I have weird shaped letters across my forehead. *L* - Anonymous - Apr-30-2006

KP has always been one of my favorite authors and has written some of the 'nets finest fiction. This story is one of her best and is full of what makes her so fun to read - humor, love, action, drama, plenty of angst and the characters are true to life in a way only the very talented can portray. Thanks again KP for your past, present and future endeavors -- I'll always be a fan! - Therese - Apr-26-2006

Great story. Kim Pritekel weaves a nice tale of a successful music star with a scarred past and turbulent present and a children.s nurse who thinks she has everything she needs in her small town life. After meeting under .interesting. circumstances the two become friends and find their lives intertwining and the bond that develops between Christine and Willow is palpable even if it takes them a while to understand it fully. Turning Tides By A.K. Naten (Original / Uber - Modern, 272 Pages)
Phew! A.K. Naten takes you on an emotional rollercoster ride with Alli and M.J. and quite frankly there were times when I wanted to smack the both of them around the head because they were just so frustrating at times. However, this story is well worth the read, but I warn you if you like only happiness in your fiction then this may not be for you. These two drag themsleves through the mill, not just once or even twice, noooo several bloody emotionally fraught times. It would be nice to have a sequal and see the characters have a few good times now that they've come out the otherside. - Sai - Apr-03-2006

Gaia By romansilence (Stargate SG-1 - Futuristic, 157 Pages)
As of yet uncomplete but a fascinating look on how to bring two series together and make it work. You have thought up a fascinating new world, which still holds familiar values. Frankly, at first i thought the behaviour of Xena way off, but getting deeper in to the story i started to see how right it was. The people, known to us all, are true to what we know of their character.. you have brought it all together nicely. Can't wait to see the next part. - Wit - Mar-31-2006
